Touch HD Will NOT Resume - Touch HD General

Hey everyone... Without bombarding you with potentially irrelevant details, I have just in the last couple days found that my Touch HD will not see to "turn on" without removing the battery and reinserting it. At that point, the HD will come on and stay on until the next time I press the power button (presumably putting it in "sleep mode"). At that point, pressing the power button again won't turn the HD back on. I have to remove and reinsert the battery. The battery is getting a full charge, and I haven't installed anything new within the last couple weeks.
Any ideas? Suggestions?

You could try a Hard Reset, but backup everything, before you give it a hard reset, with SPB Backup or Sprite Backup

Yeah; I was hoping someone else had experienced something similar before I did that... But - I am impatient. A hard reset definitely solved the problem...

Maybe this topic helps you

If it´s this problem you have to send in your HD

can't turn on HD with power button ...

hi,
anybody got the problems that the HD turns itself off automatically. Then when you press the powerbutton it won't turn on. You have to take out the battery and put it back, then it will turn on.
The power-button work fine and you can turn it on/off with the power button, but after a while problem occure again, and you have to take out the battery to turn it on. This is the first time it happens to my HD, I have a European HD and am using it in USA, could that be the cause of the problem ?
Will see if the problems occure when I'm back home, but just wanted to know if any other have had the same problem.

Sounds like your connection between battery and phone is faulty.
When you first insert battery connection is good but after a period of time this connection becomes loose.
There has been a few other threads regarding this if you do a quick search.
My recommendation would be to take phone back and get a replacement
That's not a battery problem. I have the same problem sometimes. If u press the reset button, whitout touching in the battery, the HD turns alive.
I guess that is a software/firmware problem.
Guys, just check here, we had similar problems too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same thing happened to me 3 days after i first got it, the supplier gave me a new phone. I think it is the button itself that is faulty, it's as if it is pressed constantly. Do u also get the message that your phone will be turned off when you turn it on by reinserting the battery?
no, I don't get any message when I reinsert the battery.
I back in europe now, and have changed the phone setting to GSM and not had the problem for 2 days now.
have tried to press the power button a couple of times but can't recreat the error I had. so just going to see how it works in the coming days.

Xperia not turning on

today morning when i get up and try to check my sms'es..the phone is off.
i try to press the button on top but it doesnt turn on.
i plug in charging cable..it powers...but the OS never loads..and as 'windows 6.1' green window comes..the phone goes off again.
this happened 3 times.
i also removed and re-inserted battery...but still the same.
what is the problem?
It doesn't have enough charge.
Turn the phone off, charge it for a few hours (overnight preferably), then turn it back on.
If that doesn't work you might want to hard reset it (Hold left and right HW keys while turning the phone on then use the keyboard for the prompts).
This Thread deals with a very similar problem to the one you are experiancing.
thanks got it.
it is on now.
seems like the battery was totally dead.
It's funny how there is a topic about this in the front page full of responses and you ask in a new topic.
was panicky...was expecting this girl's sms.
be carefull next time before posting

Power button not working/permanently locked on

Had my htc a few months now, has been working perfectly, but I hit a problem recently, the power button is no long responsive, in fact it seems as if it's constantly "on" pressing it does nothing whilst the device is running, and when i restart my phone i get a window saying "You will lose any saved work if you choose to shut down" (or whatever it normally it says when you turn the phone off). Now as you can imagine this is quite frustrating, I can return the phone from stand by removing and replacing the stylus, but it's also constantly draining battery (it now lasts less than 8 hrs with nothing running).
Any ideas?

TC,
You probably should send it in under warranty if you can. If not, you might have to open it and take a look and see where exactly is the powerbutton getting jammed.
Cheers.
please plugin ur charge oringinal not usb synch CP.AFTER 10min check ur device
Does that help? I've got the same problem, and I've read the six or so other threads on power button problems, but to no avail.
I lost my original power cable - I would buy one if it would fix the problem.
Cheers for any help, I feel like my phone's broken an arm!
I had the same problem. I was told to slide a thin card like a playing card under the plastic power button and gently open the gap slightly enough for you to blow hard under the button. Try blowing all around under the button from all angles. Gently lifting up button slightly. Let me know if it helps. Worked for me.

No response at all from phone

Hi all
Got my SGS2 two days ago (came from a desire) and i have to say its a brilliant phone miss a couple of the features from sense but with a beast like this i can live without them
Had a problem during the night though (and yes i did do a search) i set my alarm before heading off to bed and when i woke up this morning i went to check the time on it and no response at all tried holding power button and nothing and i even plugged the charger in just to see if the battery had drained but that didnt even register
Anyway eventually i had to pull the battery and after that it finaly turned back on
Has anyone had a simillar problem or have any suggestions on what it could have been i just dont want it happening again tonight
Thanks in advance
Dave
Do you have setcpu?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
My SGS2 power button most of the time no response at all. Any one got any ideal? Short tap won't sleep/wake and long tap won't prompt power menu. But for longer tap, phone turned off.
I can't find any solution. Anyone please help. Thanks!
Sounds like you may have overheated. When this was happening to me on villain rom I read where if you hold the power button down for ten to fifteen seconds the phone will boot. Turned out to be true in my case and saved me a battery pull. As to the overheating it took a few goes to figure that out and I never could rid myself of it tilI I changed roms.
I will be the first to admit this is stupid and shouldnt be the solution but if i was you i would do a factory reset on the phone, especially if you havent done it since recieving.
I had a number of strange issues including battery drain, crashing framework.apk when i first got it.
Did a factory reset and have not had issues since even after upgrading the rom 3 times.
i had a similar issue when i was downloading the Drag Racing game from the Market, the phone just freezed and i couldn't do nothing, i just waited a couple of minutes to see if it recovers and after that i pressed the power button and kept it pressed for like 10 seconds, the phone shut down and just then i was able to restart it...
don't know what caused it, but i hope it will not happen again, never had this issue on sgs1
Had the same issue right after i installed and enabled juicedefender. did a batt pull, turned it on and removed JD.

Nook ST freezes completely and more.

Hello,
I have problem with my NST. Sometimes it completely freezes. Reset didnt work, I have to replug battery to reset it. And often battery is in bad condition after reset.
Sometimes aslo is situation that in default reading application pages are turning very fast and I cant stop it. you have to lock device (click power button) to stop it.
Also "touch screen" sometimes stooped work. Reset device always help to solve this problem.
First problem is the most problematic for me. I have to remove Torx screw and after that I`m not sure if nook dont need recharge - even if battery was in good condition before freeze.
Have you any solutions?
Hello puszcza,
I having almost the same problems as you.

I never needed to remove the battery. But there were occasions, when I was unable to reset, the usual way. Most of the times, it helps pressing and holding the power button for really long time (20sec). But as my device getting older, it sometimes freezes during boot However what always worked for me, is to plug in an usb cable. After a few seconds my NST booted every time with no trouble. One of my friends suggested - and I'm on his side - that these problems may be related to battery and the power supply circuitry. Poor quality of these parts, can cause voltage levels to fall or be unstable, and make the system crash. It could explain, why things getting worse as time goes by.

I used to face this bug frequently, but nowadays I don't. As far as i can remember, i noticed that when it happened i pushed the UPPER LEFT button. So, in my case, it might be because of the stuck button.
Anyway in the past few days my nook is freezes so frequently, I can't stand it any longer. And factory reset did not help. So I will replace the stock rom, and see what happens. I hope it will work. I will report my results here.
Thank you for repose.
I tried to hold power button really long - didnt hep. When its frozen and I connect it to charge I see green LED light. It should be orange, green is for full-charged.
For this moment I have custom rom, but these problems shoved also on stock rom.
I`ve be glad for totally frozen Nook tips.
So I installed some custom ROMs from these forums. But it didn't helped. Still freezes after some hours, and still the only way to restart it is to plug it in. I really don't have any idea other than some issue with battery.
You might find that your battery is getting old.
You can run a battery utility or my UsbMode.apk and see what the battery is doing.
If you let it run, you might see that your Nook freezes at what should be an adequate battery level, like 40%.
The battery is discharging, then falling off the cliff.
A replacement battery might be the solution.
In my case, I think my NSTGL was freezing sometimes because of ReLaunch (it happened with all versions from 1.3.8 through current 1.4.4), so some time ago I've deleted ReLaunch and using now Zeam Launcher instead - so far no freezing for quite a while. And in my case, I was able to force restart my nook by long pressing the power button.
Update: April 24, 2016 - No, it wasn't ReLaunch, it is Nook itself, and obviously - the battery is the culprit.
