Battery gauge wrong? - Wing, P4350 General

Okay so my battery seems to hav been running out quickly recently. The other day it was one 1% for like 1 hr and a half and i was texting ppl and everything. Now i just took it off the charger and it was at 100% 2 min later its down to 79% could there be something wrong with the battery gauge/meter? or do i need a new battery?

How old is your battery? what brand is it? some of the dynapacks are known for overheating and exploding in some cases. if its a dynapack and under a year old, they will replace the battery for free.

G2 Battery Life Thread
Please state if you have a different battery than the 1300mAh it comes with original.
My experience
First day
Received it with 25% ~4pm
Powered off at 0% ~ 6pm
First day (first charge) - wall charge
0 - 100% from 6PM - to 11PM (it took less to charge but i left it a few more hours)
Unplugged at 11PM - played with it till around 1AM
1AM - 7AM - did not charge, it was on standby
7AM - 1:30PM - school / text / web / a few games
1:30 - 2:45PM - a few phone calls / light texting
Battery died at 0% ~ 3:00PM, at around 15-16hours with use, but also no use for about 6hours overnight.
I have installed Advanced Task Killer, whenever I end apps, it ends between 5-15.. average being around 10.. lol
but so far, my first charge from 100%-0%, without overnight use, i got around 15 hours.
drain first or charge first?
nick, you drained your batt before fully charging it.
arent the instructions always telling us how important it is to fully charge it first after you unbox it, before use?
formatting the batt is completely use up all power and then do a full min. 8h charge... best to complete this about 3 times to get full battery capacity
jus use this thing as you want.
this curiosity about battery life...
if the battery is dead, buy a new one. i dont want the phone dominating my life. i use it when and how i want. if battery cant handle it will get replaced.

That was true for NiCd batteries, which are not in use for many years. You don't need to format your battery anymore.
@nickbunyun: now try it without ATK.
Gee, I do so wish there was a G2 forum for all these G2 threads to go in hehe
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=750
Well, G2 or Desire Z, it's only the first charge... and whether you've fully discharged it or not at first time use, at the first charge batteries aren't at their maximum performance.
See my first charge experience:
HTC HD2: 1st - 10 hours ..... after some charge/discharge: entire day playing on it for the entire morning and texting for the rest of the day (or two days without playing)
Motorola Milestone: 1st - 6 hours ..... after some charge/discharge: same of HD2.
We'll see the battery performance only when you'll use it and you'll charge/discharge it for at least three times!
Anyway, thanks!

I started following this thought process when I got my Motorola Milestone. Sitting it in the dock to charge when not in use and overnight helped but I'm still suffering a little from battery obsession. It's a hard habit to break.
i started it with my htc magic and continued with the desire.
the battery tool it perfectly fine.
at the beginning the battery wouldnt last a day. so i bought a second charger for my work place
so first days i charged it everywhere and after some3-4 days, the battery lasted a full day.
so i started charging over night. no matter how full the battery was.
this works out perfectly well. so i will kepp it.

[Q] Battery remains on 1% for almost one full day

I am creating this thread after exploring the options documented in other similar threads, where I have posted the same issue.
My original battery was weak and I got a new one for my Defy green lens.
I saw that the phone stays at 1% for a long time and then tried several of the tools which remove the battery stats and claim to re-calibrate the battery.
After several such cycles of full 100% charge and discharge till power-off, the phone's standby time has exceeded 2.5 days - out of which it remains at 1% for almost one full day.
Note: I am running Quarx's 4.4.4 nightly.
What are the other things I can try? The phone is used only as standby so I don't mind wiping it off completely and putting stock ROM and observe again.

Dont worry . this happens to me also.. im too bought a battery of 600rs from ebay and battery stays 1 % for a day...
For an investigation i checked the battery voltage (at 100% charge voltage will be 4.2) when it drops to 1%, its nearly 3.9 and phone will keep working till voltage reduces to 3.5... im getting 2 days minimum backup of moderate use...
now to explain why 1% , this is an answer i gt from FB group .. "dnt expect Original battery at 600rs wen its actually cost 1200rs, they are actually replica of real and the so battery circuit send false info to phone, and phone calculates percentage remaining on this "
i tried to switch some cm7 version but in all battery drop at 1% happens.... so i ignored it and my defy still rocks in daily usage after 3 years ...

I find it odd that this is not an original battery.
The battery charge is pretty good - more than 50 hours - no usage of the phone - but poor 2G connection/ weak signal.
I can contact the ebay vendor if that is the case, but I need to be sure first.
I have now put my original battery and I will see if it drains off in the same way or not.

I paid Rs. 600.
I put my original battery (3 year old) and that does not show the 1% issue, though the battery life is less than 2 days on it in standby mode.

Battery gauge problem

Guys last 1-2 week i started having battery problems. My phone dies when 10% battery left and when it has full battery it shows 89-95 etc i tried everything but nothing fixed the problem. Tried *#0228# code and didnt help and its not rooted so i cant use calibration apps. Only pulling the battery out solves it but after 1 usage it happens again. And its weird my 2 other note 4 user friend also started having this problem in same time any1 else has this problem or any1 knows how to fix it properly?
Sounds like a dead battery to me.
If the phone shutdown at 10%, it's probably because the voltage delivered by the battery is too low.
But the fact that your friends have the same problem is pretty strange. An app maybe ?

Dont think its an app and dead battery. Btw it doesnt only die at 10% sometimes 5% sometimes 7% its random. I think its just wrong calibration but it happens usually. Maybe fast charge effects battery dunno but its very annoying.

Every1 uses their own charger. And im pretty sure my battery isnt dead i can still get 6 hours sot easyly.
im having the same problem.. it dies on me at 10%... last time on 20% cause i was like skypeing on 3g network for the last hour or so.. i got the phone SH so.. maybe replacing the battery will fix this?

Extremly strange battery behaviour! Jumps Upp and down and drainage on stock Note 4

Note 4 unrooted, Stock 5.1.1
Fast charging enabled, great battery life untill about a week agoo.
All the sudden my battery have been acting strange. For starters it drains extremly fast! tried every damn app to see what is causing that! Cant find any thing. removed the battery and still dosent help
And just now i had 13% battery and 1 secound later it was down to 1% !!!!
I put in the fast charger and it says it cant charge, but charge icon is still there!
1 secound later its 3% and after that it jumps to 40% then gets back to 25%
Sounds like a bad battery bub. My first battery went Ro hell randomly like that and I found it literally was just that battery. I ordered a replacement plus little charging back up kit on amazon and that battery is normal.

hmm! I susspect that to, but this happened pretty fast!
Untill a week agoo i had as mentioned great battery life! But then battery began to drain pretty fast. but the battery jump is totally new and i got this today while looking at the screen.
Can even add that now after a restart i got from 25% down to 16% just after a restart and cache clear :S

That's pretty much how mine started. It was at random, seemingly had no reason to do it honestly. But the first instance it had i believe 15% battery left and suddenly shut itself off lol afterwards I just got another battery on top of an extended battery which I refused to use the fast charging function with. I've read too much and experienced first hand it just wrecks batteries.
strange mine start doing the exact same today. Jumping from 60 to 20 to zero in minutes. Any one advise where to get genuine replacement, not the ebay crap.
Thanks

I live in Sweden, found many Original batterys.. So i dont think that would be a problem. The cost on the other side, thats a nother story!
Hmm.. I suspect fast charging as well. This is the first phone i used with fast charging, and first time that this happens to me.. And i have owned many phones. :S
Will close fast charging, thow its a damn good function.

Same thing happened to mine as well. Ended up buying a two pack of Anker batteries on Amazon, and it's worked like a champ ever since.
I had some really poor battery issues after 5.1.1, also about a month after dropping my Note in water...anyways, I did a factory reset after having 5.1.1 for a few days, and now the battery is doing great!!! 10 -12 hours with medium to heavy use.
I have now changed to a new battery and dont use fast charge anymore.. but now im using wireless charging instead lol
Anyways im still unhappy with the battery, i will do a reset when i get time.
I went from 50 to 1 one night. This was on KK. I upgraded to 5.0.1 (BOF) three days ago and the battery life seems more stable and longer lasting. Try letting it drain until it powers itself off (at night) and charge it off until it is full. I have had to do this on other Android phones (an S3 was one) and it corrected strange battery performance, readings.

Note 4 Battery Problems

Hi everyone!
I got a Note 4 a few days ago and it has battery issues.
I got it second hand online from a guy I don't know. I'm from Romania, I think the phone is from the UK, it's Verizon branded. The model is SM-N910V and the Android version is 6.0.1. It's not rooted. I noticed this V version isn't very common.
The battery that came with it was pretty poor, it would drain in a few hours with minimal usage and the worst problem is the phone would suddenly shut down at about 30-35% battery life. Then it would go into a booting loop, without being able to actually boot until I plugged it in.
I bought a new genuine battery from a popular online store here (F64), battery life is better, but still with just wifi, it went to 50% in about 2 hours of browsing. Without wifi or data (very little), it lasted for a day and a half. But the phone suddenly shut down at 8% battery life, again going into a booting loop, without being able to actually boot until I plugged it in. I'd also like to mention, when the new battery came, it only had 4% battery life left (I heard they should come about half charged, is that true?) and also there were a few reviews from people who had to try multiple batteries from this store until they got lucky with a good one. Both the old and the new batteries look identical, I don't see any signs of counterfeit.
Should I return the battery and try a new one? Is there a chance there's something wrong with the device itself?
Thank you very much!
Common problem.

Return the battery.
The seller store the battery in a very poor way.
Lithium should be kept at around 40% charged if you store it for a long time (more than 1 month)
I have 5 batteries with me, 3 of them are considered broken (70 - 60% left)
The last 2 are still in very good condition, around 98 - 99%
About your device, you will need around a few days of charge cycle with a good battery.

Thanks for your answer. I didn't know batteries for this phone are so problematic.
I just charged it to 100% slowly from my PC, will use it normally and see how much the battery lasts and if it shuts down again. As I went through forums, some people say I need to do battery calibration. If it's still bad, I'll return it.
Thanks again!
Try to get a battery direct from Samsung. Failing that buy a PowerBear or Anker. Do a factory reset and calibrate your battery by fully charging it, then running it down to 0% (if it shuts down, keep turning back on until it won't turn on). Then charge fully back to 100% again - DO NOT USE FAST CHARGE.

I will look for a store somewhere. I don't think I can find those two brands here.
I did a factory reset when I bought it a few days ago, but that was with the old battery. Will do the factory reset after I drain it to 0% later today.
I don't have a 'fast charge' charger, and I have it disabled in settings.
Thank you for your response!

What I said before is for all phone that uses Lithium Battery.
Lithium Battery must be kept in a storage at around 40 - 80% charged & must avoid hot places if you don't use it for a long time.
Draining Lithium Battery to 0% will deteriorate the battery faster so it's a big NO.
Calibration is done on the phone not the battery.
Delete "batterystats.bin" to calibrate the battery gauge.
Calibration is useless if the battery is bad (you received it at 0% it means that the storage condition is bad thus the battery is bad.
Charging from PC is a BIG NO as USB port on PC only provide around 500mAh & usually it's unstable.
The charging rate is too low & it could deteriorate the battery faster too.
And the last....I think factory reset doesn't necessary reset the batterystats.bin, so you have to delete it manually if you are rooted or follow this link if you are not rooted.

I had a similar problems, and I have received my new battery yesterday which has been charged in 51% so I drained it to 1%-0% without unexpected shutting downs, I have charged it again and so far it seems to be ok

Hi, I didn't return the new battery after all, I think it 'calibrated' itself after the first charge. Also it goes from 100% to 1% and shuts down properly now.
I did two tests on full battery:
- barely using it, no wifi, data etc, just a few short calls (probably 30 mins of OST) and it lasted almost 6 days
- stress test, wifi and data on, gps with maps and waze on, maximum brightness and and a very long youtube video playing constantly (screen on) and it lasted about 5 hours and 30 mins
In normal use it lasts me about 2 days, but it slightly worries me that if I keep mobile data on all the time it only lasts until the end of the first day.
Would this be considered a good battery life for the Note4?
Thanks to everyone for replying and helping!!
