Micro SD in Tilt Showing up as less then full - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

Im running the TF2d and have recently purchased a 4gig micro.
For some reason the tilt is only seeing somewhere in the range of
2.25 gigs?
Thought i saw some sort of utility for this? Anyone ? Anyone?
Bueller?
(i searched till my fingers bled- found nothing but older posts on this
my apologies if i missed something!)
Thanks
Ok I'm off to work to go build the cheapest network money can buy on a sunday.
Ghetro-PCS.

How does a card reader handle it?
What capacity is shown if you put the card in its matching card reader (capable of handling microSDHC capacities) connected to your recent desktop PC? Back up whatever you want saved off it then zero fill (used to incorrectly be called low-level formatting) the card using a suitable utility (I use a freebie from the HDDGuru website) then use WinXP to partition and format the card (FAT32 ONLY) and see how that goes.

Im going to try that tonite, thanks for the advice.
It did read 3.89 gigs or something close at one point. I had an issue w/ the card seeming corrupt here and there (the file browser would show nonsense characters when viewing) - so i reformatted. I checked it on my desktop, (winXP) thru two different card readers (newer ones w/ sdhc slot) and it only shows as 2.25 or so now.
Maybe when i reformatted i got this issue you mention. I will try a similar utility and see what happens.

My 4g card did the same thing a simple reformat fixed the issue it was too bad when it was messed it the root of my sd card had files with names like @@*^&$(@^@@* *#@!!)# with file sizes of up to 3.6Gb each so for a while I had a 40G Microsod card

Problems w/ 2GB Sandisk Mini-SD

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone else is getting intermittent issues w/ their mini-SD card.
I've lost essentially all my data on my 2GB Sandisk on three separate occasions. I have formatted different ways (once w/ RescoExp, and then FAT32 on 2 computers), been v. careful closing my apps and minimizing the amount of writing to the card.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Sandisk's comments are as follows:
"This is a known issue with the devices when they work this way with 2GB and up memory cards. Usually in this cases you just need to contact the manufacturer of the device that you having issues with the reading on, to find out about compatability and what kind of firmware update do you need."
Thanks!
I haven't had any issues with my SanDisk 2gb card using my K-JAM.
Now on other pdas and with other cards, I have had the "lose everything" problem. Two reasons I had...storing email attachments on the and having the unit crash while accessing the card.
My onyl problem with the larger card is my laptop doesn't recognize it
I lost all of my data just last week off of my card, I went ahead ahd reformatted it again, not sure whats wrong with the 2gb cards

I haven't had a single issue with my 2GB TOPRAM card. I have had a few issues where the device doesn't see it (I assume) and renames the folder to Storage Card 2 and creates a new folder "STorage Card" with nothing there. It happens rarely and when it does, I just take the card out, rename the bad folder to StorageCardOld then insert the card again. This corrects the issue. I use the card very heavily and have had it since around the end of January.
I too have had this problem. I hope my suggestion helps.
I've had issues in the past with Sandisk flash cards. My problems were the same as yours until some helpful spark suggested I do a disk error check using windows (right click on drive in explorer>properties>Tools>Error Checking). Format the card and then run the disk check, apparently some Sandisk flash cards exhibit not so rare sector problems. His explanation (the science bit of which I have long since forgotten) was that that by running the disk check, the utility automatically marks the error causing sectors as unusable. The disk can then be used as normal after that, but any reformatting should have the disk check run again to mark the sectors once more.
This has helped me in 2 out of three occasions and so may or may not work for you. Still, I hope this solves your problem.
BS answer from Sandisk
Leighj, that's a BS answer from Sandisk. I guess it would never occur to them that your SD card is defective. Try another card in your machine or that card in another PDA phone if you have either of those options, but if not contact Sandisk and get a replacement. It should have a lifetime warranty, or at least several years.
Have to agree with iclick. My Sandisk cards were basically defective and how I got them running was a workaround and not a solution.
Yes - I wasn't too happy with their response either. Anyway, I just ran through error checking before & after reformatting. Hopefully that works - if not I'm off to shop for a new card. Either way, it's probably the last Sandisk mem card I purchase.
Thanks for your comments!
I have a Sandisk 2Gb Mini-SD as well and I've not had any issues with it so far. If it helps, I've left the card in the factory default format of FAT only - not FAT32. Try putting yours back to FAT and see if you still get any issues. Depending on what program you use the option you want might be labelled as FAT16 instead of just FAT.
I have Sandisk Ultra 2G miniSD, I don't have any problems untill recently. Whenever I try to add my storage capacity to more than 60%, 1GB or more, it gave me an error because the file is write protected and then not responding file transfer.
First, I taught my file is broken, but when I removed other files from the mini SD card and then add it ..... it's work. I used a factory Format type. Do anyone have this problems :?:
Well after contacted Sandisk customer services regarding my memory. They asked me to reformat my card and I did that. through my laptop, but it said that windows cannot complete the format. Now the card is dead.
Do the mini sd cards have a lock?
Do these cards have a lock on them? My old SD cards had a slider but I don't see one on the sandisk card.
The miniSD doesn't have a lock, but the miniSD-to-SD adapter does have a slider just like a real SD.
if i take my sd out for any reason it will often take a few goes to get it recognised by the mini s again. I have to remove/insert it as many as 10 times.

HTC Touch not recognizing storage cards

I have been using my HTC Touch for almost a year. I have 2 storage cards, a 1GB and a 2GB. The other day I noticed missing software while using my Touch and found out the phone did not recognize the 2GB storage card (which has all my backup info on it). I assumed this was a card error and installed the 1GB card which also has all my backup stuff on it.
Neither card shows up in the File Explorer and the files on the cards are not accessible. When I put these cards in my computer they are totally readable.
Is this a known issue? Any clues on how to solve it?

i had the exact same issue and returned my device (elfin), in a month later got replaced (some parts) back. it was defenitly hadrware failure in my case.
I've seen at least two similar problems get resolved by formatting the storage card. Strangely though....both those devices were HTC ones. If your computer is reading the card, copy all the info onto it including your backup file and then try giving the format a shot. If it works for you.
Storage Card not recognized
I have happily been using HTC touch w/8 gb storage card, then today storage card was not showing up, did soft reset and it was there again but lost 2 programs and had to reinstall.
HTC is a mess
I was able to get my card recognized again by doing a reformat of the card. My review of the HTC Touch would be a failing grade, I'm afraid. Within the next 3 months I expect to buy out my contract and get an iPhone. The hardware plugin on my HTC is failing again (2nd time). I'm sure they'll offer me another replacement phone, which will once again require me to reinstall all my software, etc etc. I've never seen anything quite as incompetent as this phone. I saw another guy with one the other day and asked him, "How do you like your phone?" So he says it's been great. Works good. Then he adds that this is the SECOND one, since they had to replace his original. LOL I guess HTC and Windows Mobile have set a new standard for cell phones. It can still be a "great" phone, even though you need to replace it eveey year with a new one.

Storage card "Error 13 changing to dir"

I got a new 8GB MicroSDHC (kingston),
and I received this error several times, on several occations,
even after re-formatting the card in the HD2.
Most of the time, it occured after writing to the StorageCard while connected with "ActiveSync" and using windows (XP) explorer to write to the card.
Another occation was when I tried moving files (with the device's file explorer) from one directory to another on the storage card.
I have tested the card - "Search for bad sectors" (with the HD2 connected as a storage device) - and the report came out clean.
Did anyone else encountered this ?
Does the hotfix for the storage card has anything to do with this ?

The hotfix for the storage card was to address the issue with 8gig+ cards when the camera application miscalculated the amount of storage space left for photos or video capture.

Ok, So I guess the hot-fix would not fix this.
Thanks for the reply.
Anyone else had this problem ?
Oh, another thing -
it hapened mostly (maybe only) after the card had more than (or close to) 2GB in use.
(Up to ~ 2 GB, everything seemed to work just fine)
That sounds like a dodgy card. You can reprogram the cards to say they have more memory on them than they actually do.
Where did you get it from? (Please don't say eBay )
Edit:
Try this - with the HD2 connected as a storage device, fill the card with 8GB worth of files (or near enough), and make sure you can copy all those files back off. If that doesn't work then it's the card and it will need to be replaced.

That's a nice Idea.
I'd try it.
No, I did not buy it from eBay.
I bought it in a store that I buy computer stuff from for several years . . .

That's good then. At least if there is a fault in the card then you can take it back. If you trust the store though, I'd doubt they'd be selling spoofed cards.

Well, I did just that.
I went there, and requested a replacement.
We (the store's lab guy and me) checked the card, in the device, and in a card reader - in both it acted the same.
The interesting thing is - we tried 2 more cards (of the same brand and type) - the other two acted just the same.
I still have to check this with a different brand card and see how things turn out . . .

16GB SDHC not showing?

Hey all,
This morning I have noticed that the "storage card" option isn't showing in file explorer. If I click on the drop down box at top left of the screen, the only option I see is "my device" Yesterday the storage card was visible in the file explorer, but today is isn't there.
I have tried taking the SDHC out of my HD2, and re-inserting, but nothing. Plus I am currently charging the HD2 via my PC, and the "autoPlay" pops up on my screen for the SDHC, while it's inserted in the HD2.
Any ideas why I can't get the SDHC to show up on my device?
Cheers.
take the storage card out of the phone and restart the phone, use file explorer to search and see if you see a file called storage card, if you do, then rename it to storage card2 or something similar, insert your 16gb card back in into the phone again and delete the one you called storage card 2.
I have had a similar problem like this before and the steps above resolved the issue. I think it was caused when i connected to the laptop and picked use phone as a disk drive instead of active sync.
The steps above worked for a 4gig card but I also have a 16Gb card which is not recognised by the phone or laptop anymore and I have seen similar threads with this issue and hope that you card is not faulty.

This probably has to do with choosing 'disc drive' instead of ActiveSync; so when your phone is connected to your PC it will open to see the files on your phone (like it would with an external hard disc or USB stick).

I'm quite sure the SD card ain't faulty, as my PC is able to read it, no problem at all. It's just the HD2 ain't reading it today, but was reading if fine yesterday.

Don't be too sure your card is ok. I had the same problem as you, I was able to copy files to the card, seemingly without problems, but when I took a closer look at the copied files on the card, they turned out to be corrupt. Testing the card showed the card was defective. I also had the problem of the card not showing up in the file explorer on my phone.

i had this same issue and managed to resolve it by changing the name back
Argh, I am SO dumb!
It was because I had the HD2 connected via USB on charge, so as the card was read by the PC, the HD2 won't read the card while connected to the PC.
I should have remembered this when I had a windows phone (T-Mobile vario III) 18 months ago, Do'h! Since then I have been on Blackberry for the past 18 months, but am now back on Windows Mobile
Now the only other thing I need to resolve/fix is the fact that Windows Mobile Device Centre / ActiveSync will not work when I am connecting the HD2 to my PC via USB. Very, very annoying!

Hd2 has ruined my 8gb sd card

Alrite peeps,
I hope someone can help me here as I have had no luck anywhere else.
I have had the hd2 for over a month now, it came with a 2gb Sdhc card but I decided to purchase an 8gb sandisk sdhc card.
Ok, I have not encountered any problems so far until today as I scrolled to view some pictures it froze at a pic for 5secs then suddenly to my shock I discovered that it had deleted all my files from my sd card! Now I took it out when I put it back it in, it requested a reformat to make the card readable! So I tried it on my Pc and again it asked to reformat- I had no choice to reformat when I did this I had an error message unable to reformat?! I noticed the capacity had also changed to 30.6mb and when I tried to reformat it in the hd2 it was succesful but still not readable ! Has Anyone else come across this problem and what can I do or is my card messed up?might check if it came with warranty.
Thanks in advance
P.s I'm running the tmobile 1.72 stock rom if that's makes any difference.
Yes, I had the same problem. And it turned out to be a fake card. Where did you buy it?
I had the same problem with the 8Gb card that came in the box from HTC. I have opened a case with HTC, and waiting to see what they say...
incredible ... the same thing happened to me, my guess the card is a fake, yet how does it work before that? I dont know how much data I had in there, it was not a lot, but the moment I tried to put about 15 songs in there, thats when it crashed afterward when I tried to play the songs. I havent had it for 2 weeks when it happened.
Omg.. that is serious thing...
Try to get your pictures back!
I work in a supermarket for home electronics and we've several failures of SD-/Memorycards per week. Even if you've formatted your (micro) SD-card, you can get your data back (esp. pictures) in the most cases. Very important: DO NOT USE THE CARD B4 MAKE A RESCUE TRIAL!
I use a free programm called DIR (Digital Image Recovery) in a special free version (from Foto Erhardt search via heise.de) to rescue the datas. It seems rly lowlevel but fails if it finds heavy memory errors. In such cases I try the free version of recuva, which you could use for other files too. PC Inspector Smart Recovery is the second possibility, but seems to me a bit unstable.
However, in a Windows OS you have to expect in evry second with a bluescreen, data loss, weird errors...
P.S.: All progs should be available in English or as ML.
P.P.S.: Not able to out links in, removed.

SD CARD
Well i have to say this my card is also a disgrace as sandisk was bought with one of the store here in cambodia together with my HTC HD2 and after 2 days my whole input in it gone and requested for reformat..i did and tried for how many times then no luck at all. i returned to the shop and explain to them luckily they understood. same brand but till now its ok 1month passed
I have to say from experience that i wouldn't be surprised if all these failed cards were sandisk branded. I've had 3 sandisk sd cards of varying sizes over the years and they have all failed. They were all bought from reputable stores and never got using for anything other than data storage so spent most of their time in the plastic cases. Since then i've stayed away from sandisk kit and never had a failure and saved some cash in the process coz sandisk also like to charge you more.
This maybe something to test.
exactly the same problem here. Even the 30,6 Mb. matches. I bought from e-Bay, some prik in Korea. escalated at Paypal bust still no money back
Moschino02: change the title of the thread, please
not the HD2 ruins the microsd cards... the cards gives problems(fake / defective / no name brands)

i have had problems with a sd card. especially when files are damaged
look here. this is a formatter specially for sd cards.

run this with your card in a card reader after a recovery described above.
see if it helps to get the card working

I opened a case at eBay (within 45 days) and they returned my money in a day (great service)! My seller was from Hong Kong and pretended to be a friendly, reasonable guy, but by the time he knew I had returned the card there was no communication anymore whatsoever. As soon as I told the seller about the problem he had the item removed from eBay so I couldn't give negative feedback. eBay mailed me a warning about that too, but by that time I had already paid, received and returned the item.
Ok maybe it was not the hd2 but a faulty card I don't know? Please ignore the title(Im not sure how to amend it) Thanks for the zip file il give that a go..
I see that others have experienced this fault.I was always aware of fake cards prior to making the purchase off eBay, i thought it was geniune as it stated that it had a 5year warranty however the uk business shop/seller who specialises in these products has not replied to me since the fault in regards with the warranty. So I'm having doubts now
Anyways, just be careful and Sync regularly - luckily I did not have much on there exact a few apps and a few pics.
Now I am not so sure if my 8gb micro sd hc card is a fake after all, a friend has a similar card and they look exactly alike. I got my card bundled with the phone, and it did work for quite a while until I copied some music into it, and the card failed after I tried to play the songs. Now my notebook doesnt recognize the micro sd card (sd card adaptor) therefore cant format it since no disk detected, and my hd2 formatted it to a 30mb capacity yet i cant see it in file explorer.

same problem for me. have been using the bundled 8gb card for a mth when suddenly it died 5days ago. I panicked and tried reading it on my laptop. nothing detected. I thought all my files are gone for good. I pulled out the card and reinserted over 10times. all of a sudden, autoplay started and the card and its files were detected! immediately copied and backed up all my files onto my laptop.
true enough to my prediction, this morning I woke up and the card died once more... this time its dead for real. changed to a Toshiba 4gb card this time..
could it be its the phone causing cards to corrupt? regardless of brand? so many ppl have this problem.
Same for me here,
I think it's related to cht scheduler or to cht. I've read something @ pocketpc.ch
so now my 16 gig scandisc sd-card only has 30.6mb
I'm gonna send it back...
I wonder how many of you guys do not use the safely remove hardware or the eject option when you remove your phone from your PC....
I have a multitude of microSD cards and ALL of them still work and most of them are sandisk cards....
failure to use the safely remove hardware or eject option will always end in the card getting corrupted. It may not happen the first time but it will eventually happen and when it does get corrupted the HD2 will not show the card as being present until it is formatted.

Hey Guys!!
I work at a retails shop where we sell heaps of memory cards and cameras a day .. So im pretty experienced with this issue. The microSD card you get with HTC HD2 is a Class (4) card, which transfers about 5mb/s. which means that it has higher transfer rate compared to the normal everyday microSD cards you buy from your retail shops/ebay which are Class (2) which transfers about 2mb/s.
This is the reason that your HD2 kills all those Class (2) cards.. because when the phone doesn't get the enough transfer rate to read.. after couple of days they all stuff up.
Recommendations:
Try getting the new PANASONIC (JAPANESE MADE) microSD card which has a transfer rate for about 20mb/s these cards will work like butter..
Click to collapse
so if this guy is right the HD2 only wants class 4 cards...
I for myself bought a class 2, that died (it was a fault, I did want at least a class 4 one)
so good luck altogether!
