Hello,
I'd like to use my Ameo with "vertical" screen when I'm travelling and horizontal when Keyboard is attached in the office.
However, I have to switch back to vertical always manually once the keyboard was attached.
Is there a possibility to have the screen automatically always vertical without keyboard and horizontal when keyboard is attached ?
Dieter
Im looking for a similar functionaltiy.
Me to, this would be so useful.
you don't have to do it automatically, it is easy to switch the comm manager physical button to the rotate screen functionality- every time you touch the button the screen rotates - fantastic
i think the point was though that we use the device in portrait and only when we attach the keyboard it flips, and in a ideal world when we remove the keybaord we wanted it to go back to portrait as that is what we always use. pressing a button is easy but not quite prefect.
As an alternative to using the physical button (4 modes of rotation, the original only has 3 modes):

What does this CAB do? Would you mind posting a screenshot if possible?
Basically it's a screen rotator (just like the one that comes built-in with our Athena). The difference is that you have a better control of setting its behaviour through the Settings tab).
With the built-in rotator, I have to tap it twice to revert back to my potrait orientation from landscape. With this, I only has to tap it once (set it to Clockwise).

or you can just use iLuncher, it does exactly the same, it's a built in shortcut for iLuncher. one click for rotate, and one click to rotate back.
AWESOME! and thanks.

Thanks for the utility. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for...well not exactly, would be nice if it would go to Portrait when the keyboard is detached and back when it's reattached...but after further consideration it would be annoying if it did it automatically because i don't always want this to happen. Took me a little while to find the 'Advanced/Icon Settings' area...lack of sleep. I was looking for something that would go between Portrait and Landscape without rotating all the way around. I've set it up for "Right or Portrait" and this is exactly what I wanted, a type of toggle between the two modes. Thanks for posting this for us.
I'm lousy at explaining the way thing works. But I'm very happy to know you understand after trying the program yourself. A little apps with big function for people who like to switch back to potrait orientation.

you're my hero. thx.
i've been looking all over the net to find out how to get screen rotate into my advantages' taskbar (nothing worked, no tweaks, nothing).
works perfectly now. thx so much.
the thing that would make my taskbar perfect is a way to get the battery symbol INCLUDING link to the battery settings in it.
anyone an idea? i tried several tweaks, one worked but only showed the icon without any link. the others didn't work at all, dunno why.
You can tie this to a hardware button
This has been used on this forum for over 2 years. Someone may find it useful. Not "automatic" like asked for.
Install the cab file from your device and go into settings and set as one of the start menu items and 2 clicks give you a rotation and back, not round in circles like stock.
When you bind to a hardware button, one click rotates, another returns

bug report...
Found a bug. On my Advantage, the camera stopped working in Landscape mode. May or may not be attributed to the screen rotate cab. A simple fix is to go to Portrait mode and start the camera from there. It could also be related to the VGA software but not sure. I'm glad I found a quick and easy work around because I didn't feel like hard resetting yet again.
Update: Found a work around. I wasn't going to hard reset. While playing around I noticed that if I switched to portrait mode and opened the camera, it would come up properly. Just won't do it if I try to open the camera while in landscape. Weird bug but I can live with it.

Did you assign screen rotation the the camera hardware button?
Is there any way to make the motion sensor working in all applications?
I really would like the screen to be turned also in the acrobat reader for example...
Gsensor is the solution....
The GSen is indeed a good app to do the trick on the HD. Take a look here (also to download):

I guess there will be more apps for it, but don't know them yet.

Exactly what I was looking for!
Thanks!
On my HD I cannot have Gsen launch at startup as I get an error message about it not being able to access the G-sensor.
I have to wait for TF3D to load and then load it manually. Not a biggie but a niggle - but less of a niggle than not having my screen reorient as I need it.

Yes, it is. More flexible, comfortable und stable.
Is there a way to get Gyrator to autostart?
Another thing is that when I push the -close all programms- button. It closes Gyrator as well. Is there a way to keep Gyrator running on the background?
Auto start and stop it closing
I couldn't get on with GSEN and had similar problems launching gyrator at start up....
so I wrote the simplest Mortscript....and attached it.
Just edit the script (if your Gyrator is intalled elsewehere, otherwise leave it), and copy a shortcut to the script to your startup folder.
Change the delay time till it fits for you.
You'll also need to download and install mortscript, but it's extremely useful & free!
see http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=page&entry=ms_overview&action=view
As for stopping it closing, click the tools (the spanners) in the HTC task drop down (where you go to close all apps) and set gyrator2 to exclusive.
Job done
Both apps work fine for me.
The only problem I have is within opera.
If I turn the screen, then opera turns, but then in the next second it turns back to portrait.
Opera is excluded from doing anything in both apps.
(Off course I only use one app at the time)
Any help for that?
no problem with opera here, using gyrator. turns screen in every direction i turn the device, except upside down.
gyrator works fine, although if you lock the device it will rotate your today screen as well. a bit annoying when the device is in your pocket the wrong way, answering a phonecall is kind of a challenge.
Still the same problem:
Using gyrator with the default settings, my Opera Browser first rotates to landscape when turning the device to landscape as it should.
Then after 2-3sec it rotates back to portrait even if the device is still holded in landscape.
Any idea?

Well Opera can be rotated with the motion sensor by default, try adding it in the Gyrator exceptions.

Any solution yet?
Gyrator 2 was working fine but now I have a strange problem with it. After a softreset everything works as should, but for some reason after a little while whenever I turn the device in lanscape the creen reverts back to the TF3D tab in portrait that I had last used. Is it a setting that does this? When I disable gyrator 2 everything is fine, but then not everything rotates as I would like it to.
I have added two execptions to the standard ones, the today screen and the incoming call screen.
If anybody know an answer or has (had) the same problem I'd appreciate a fix/solution.
thanks!
Or MobileMagic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=449654
Which does not have issues with Opera...
And allows also to force apps to certain rotations....
But every app has its pros and cons...
Being a Newbie to winmob (formerly UIQ3) I am finding that Gens is OK on mosts screens but not on Home Page and the other TouchFlo screens. Am I doing something wrong - or probably stupid?
I was having lots of problems with all my apps. They seemed to only rotate sometimes, and I couldn't have the device even slightly flat or the rotation wouldn't occur.
I just was playing around with gyrator 2, went into edit event for (disabled) opera, orientation and checked all but the last two options and hit apply.
Opera is still showing as disabled, but what a difference!
Rotates really quickly, and when almost flat as well!
Hi guys
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this bug as mentioned on the Gyrator website help page? In fact, does anyone get this bug or just a special few??
Q. When I rotate to any new orientation, the phone application pops up, or the today/manila screen appears?
A. As you'll probably know, orientation is disabled by default on the Diamond, because the HTC developers are either too incompetent, or lazy, to build applications which are orientation aware. As such, strange things happen with either Gyrator rotates the screen, or you use any other application to do the same thing.

Yes, it is a PITA. I'm using a file called "rotator-netxscale-2003-4k-v420". It brings up a box on top of other apps to change the screen around. I have it programmed to the down volume button with AEBplus. The trick is never to switch the screen orientation while in TouchFlo3D. If you start your app first then activate the above program to change the screen it is all good, if you go to the TouchFlo 3D interface...it is not a happy camper. Unlike the normal WM Today Screen, TouchFlo3D Home is allergic to landscape.
I use Gyrator2, and TouchFLO is disabled by default in the settings, preventing it from being re-oriented if the device is turned. If you do a little searching, you'll find more threads that can help you configure Gyrator2 to stop the phone app, including incoming calls, from re-orienting. Plus, you can add any app you want in the settings. One I added was the Bubble Breaker game, which would restart a new game automatically if you turned the phone...
The same thing can also be done with MobileMagic.
Just deny auto rotation to the the apps that do not like
to be rotated or that rotate them self, like Teeter.
Thanks for the info chaps but i think that there is a bug in the system which SOMETIMES pops up the phone or manilla when i rotate an app (opera or tomtom mainly) from portrait to landscape using any method (gyrator, gsen or handymenu). It seems that these apps (phone, manilla) dont like any change of orientation even when they are in the background and opera or tomtom is rotated.
I have changed the gyrator2 .ini file to make no apps rotate except the ones i want to. Not even that works........
Any more help please?

Hmmm, donĀ“t have that Problem. Dunno why, but it works as it should.
Hi, just found a bug using gyrator on my new touch HD when typing a message in landscape mode. The dot (.) and comma (,) are inverted, so trying to type one of them gives the other as a result. Haven't yet tried without gyrator if the keybord gives the same problem, and will post it here later on.
Thanks

Same here. The Panelbutton as well as the Camera button still work in S2U2 lock mode. It doesn't concern me much, because it's essential that noone gets a phone call or music starts to play while the phone is in my pocket. If the panel-button is accidentally pressed nothing bad happens.

This sometimes occured when I set the "Display Mode" to DirectDraw. Now I use RawBuffer and haven't had this problem for 3 weeks now.
Let me ask you a question:
When in landscape-mode and the phone is locked with S2U2 the button to slide reacts very slow. In portrait-mode the button follows the finger very quickly. Is it the same with your phone?

I have the same problem. Maybe it's the X1
Thanks, so then I'm calmed First I thought it could be an issue of the picture I use but after a few different ones it was still the same. So it's not just my phone
that's interesting, with the exception of the landscape problem I wasn't aware of the x-panel and camera button issues. This is more likely going to be a fix / update needed for S2U2...
I have got the same problem.
S2U2 doesn't work correctly in landscape mode on my Xperia. The sliding thing and the whole program become very slow.
This problem doesn't seem to be solved yet.
I am wondering if its a Xperia only problem, otherwise in should have been fixed till now.

The Xperia always seems to be very slow in landscape mode no matter if I'm using the SE panel, the messaging application or touchflo3D. Very strange behaviour considering the display resolution stays the same.
It is partly a xperia specific problem. The panel button is controlled at a very low level in the phone. The panel button action is located in the registry, but that action is called from a low level. The button isn`t recorded by most programs.
A_C knows of this issue.
btw, you can disable landscape for s2u2. So it`s in portrait allways.

Yeah, that's right. But then sometimes the screen messes up completely when I slide out the keyboard and the phone wants to change the screen mode. Also, I have problems with the dialer and S2U2. Sometimes the dialer screen stays on top but S2U2 locks the screen. There is no way to unlock the screen anymore because S2U2 is not on top but the dialer screen cannot be closed.
If this problem is Xperia specific, I will disable S2U2 in landscape mode. I always hoped they will bring a update which solves this problem.

Yes i realized the same. I thought this would be a problem of Windows Mobile and not of the Xperia. If it is a Xperia problem, this is a big minus point for the phone.
It's a nice unlock system, but I have found that when I use this programme the battery loses power quickly.
was using ver 1.44 very stable for a long time
until i installed panel manager from r3a... same issues with panel button unlocking and ok button unlocking
upgraded to 1.62 and problems got worse...
downgraded to 1.52 and switched back to panel manager r2a for the time being.. which is ok.. b/c i rarely used the growing panel and the new cnn panel sucked anyway..
would love to have all the features of s2u2 1.62 but alas xperia doesn't quite seem to work that well with it
currently i have s2u2 set to ignore screen rotation and not unlock with keyboard slide out
my only real grief at this point is that it won't let me use slied to answer or just the regular answer keys with caller id turned on ... i have to turn it off and use the SE answer key completely unlocks my phone to display that message too so agravating...
A_c makes a kick ass program none-the-less ... !!!
same problem here. Also with last version no lock for panel button and camera button...
Camera and Panel button are known issues ...but not a problem for me either -as I do not see S2U2 as a "security focused lock" ...instead I see it as a "prevent accidental calls etc" type of lock
I still use the system lock with password if I need to "security lock it" (using a today shortcut that immediately invokes it, with password)
Must say I suffered some probs with v1.4 and v1.5 (caller ID & power drain)
But am using 1.62 without problems -it doesn't freeze on caller ID (I have it on window rather than full screen) and the battery drain has gone completely (uses <10% overnight for example, with G-alarm and data / active sync both running all night)
I found that it really was critical to uninstall, delete the S2U2 folder in program files, and delete the whole S2U2 tree in the registry ...and then soft reset -before installing the new version
I'm a huge fan of S2U2 ...its just awesome -without a doubt THE must-have app IMHO and always the first thing I install after a hard reset
I use S2U2 and have just upgraded to 1.62. Seems to be working ok so far, although no-one's called me since I upgraded so not sure of freeze problem :-(
(note to self: Get out more, make some friends ;-)
I find landscape doesn't work well at all with S2U2, but then I also find that with PointUI Home2, so maybe it's an X1 thing with particular software...?
The battery drain issue does seem to be resolved in 1.62.
I too am having problems with screen freezing when a call is received - the slider doesn't answer and since I had the buttons disabled there was no way to answer the call.
I'm still experimenting with other settings but I don't get many calls so it is a long process.
Still, a superb program and essential for me because of the problems with a magnetic case which causes calls to be answered just by removing the phone from the case.

Which means it can't even do accidental call prevention properly, as I found today. It's still quite easy to press the Panel button then the Call button in succession, as they are next to each other, especially if the phone's in a case. Result - pocket dialling, defeating the whole object of program. Shame really, as I've found S2U2 ideal on other phones.
Yep landscape is very slow ..... when i put ignore screen rotation on sometimes when open the keyboard screen goes all fuzzy... bitof a problem. But its a great program...sure it just needs some tweaks n bugfixxes for the X1
sweeet on v2.02 im no longer getting these landscape issues
anyone know how to get landscape mode on sms ,lets say i tilt the phone it goes to landscape mode for typing and viewing and when i tilt it back to portrait it goes back to normal.
I believe BSB Tweaks can do this. Check it out.
I thought they did rotate on sms out off the box
try bsbtweaks or gyrator
I thought they did also but I know that some of the custom roms did not enable that which resulted me to switch it by using BSB tweaks. As mostly I did not want the actual homepage to go into landscape mode also so couldnt use the roms advance tools.

The attached cab will give you portrait rotation, but it'll do it on every tab not just messaging, so you decide if that'll work for you or not.

I had tried this cab before and it messes up the Photos & Videos tab badly.
What happened is that in the Photos & Videos tab, the photos are presented in their correct respective form i.e. portrait will be shown as portrait whilst landscape will be landscape.
After this cab is installed, when one slides to the Photos & Videos tab, it is blank and left in a hung state. The bottom menu options from your last tab location may also be lingering there.
I am sticking to the manual rotation mode via 1st button press.

This doesn't seem to happen on the Tmo stock ROM, the 2.10 one anyway. However, it does cause the pics and music tabs to display in landscape in the same style as they do in portrait (with vertical scrolling instead of horizontal)...but other than that, it works fine even on those tabs.
