I'm currently using an HTC Touch (Vogue, Unlocked, Custom Rom, yadda yadda yadda) and I recently came to acquire a used HTC P4000 (Telus's Titan version).
I still have some monkeying around to do with the P4000 (Upgrade to newest official rom among other things.) to see if I'm interested in using it as my primary phone instead of the Touch. Can someone explain if it's possible to have the P4000 running on the Bell network- and who I'd have to talk to in order to set that up.
I'm assuming that it would need to be unlocked first (not sure how to do the p4000, I did my Vogue without any issues though).
Alrighty then.
Did a little forum lurking and I now have a fully unlocked P4000 running DCD's 4.1.2 rom with the Bell Carrier. Boots instantaneously and works wonderfully. The man is a bloody genius.
Now, as to my original question - I have my MSL for both my current HTC Touch/Vogue (Bell) and my recently acquired P4000 (Telus).
Is there a way/method/guide I can follow to manually program the P4000 to work on the Bell network in place of my Touch?
Do I find an underhanded/former/corrupt Bell employee that will transfer my settings for $25?
Do I see my friend who has a friend who's cousin knows this stuff?
Do I take it to the Bell store and say "My phone no workie, I has replacement, make workie?"
I hate to trash on my Vogue but this P4000 is pretty effing slick. Gotta love the Wi-Fi and actual movie acceleration for non-horrible playback.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Your biggest problem will be to see Bell will accept the P4000 ESn number in there database. If they won't then flashing and unlocking isn't worth your time.
Hey everyone, I've been lurking for a bit now and have learned a heap about my phone.
Well, I had a sprint contract which has ran out and currently have the Sprint Touch Vogue without service.
I work on a military base which used to have Sprint towers but have since changed to Verizon. Naturally I would like to do the same since no other carriers provide any good signal out here.
My question is, do I need to flash to a Verizon ROM? If so where can I find just the basic ROM which will still allow use of the internal GPS, and any data connection I may need.
I checked the ESN on their website and it says its not available.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, it sux having no signal out here at all....
if i were you id switch to verizon... they have pretty good service all around.. you should be able to take your vouge over to verizon with no problem. Technical support can do it for you over the phone, they said that the can activate certain sprint phones, verizon can activate sprint phones that verizon currently has or has sold before.
Take a look at codybear's faq on flashing the Vogue. You can flash to Veruzon but you may have a problem getting them to add the esn to their network. Here is that faq:

Ok so at first I had the Sprint Hero. HATED IT WITH A PASSION. I disliked the look (looked cheap and tacky) as well as the button placement was very annoying. I love the way the original Hero looks with the chin and slick colors... Now that Telus has the Hero with the original look I have a chance to get it and unlock it to use on At&T's fast 3G network and still keep the look I like. The only issue is it costs $400 for an unlocked Hero. My only other option is the Eris the buttons are placed fine and it looks 'OK' but the thing is does this limit my options on what I can do with it? I'm talking about as far as testing different ROMS and flashing etc... I know when the Sprint came out, things had to be made compatible with the Sprint version before you could use them etc... But I'm guessing since the Telus version is pretty much the European version with the added US radio, it can accept any mode pretty much made for the Hero... Is this true for the Eris as well or do I have to get Eris specific mods and wait for ROMS to be compatible etc...? Any guidance would be helpful.
I would go with the Telus Hero on AT&T.
Why waste time with an old CDMA network
Well, it has CDMA only and it probably has a few hardware differences - that means you couldn't use the standard MoDaCo ROMs (he has a CDMA variant) and expect everything to work. Most of the customization work so far has been with the GSM Hero so the Telus Hero would be your best bet, with the number of people playing around with it. Also, you have the old problem of talk or data with the Verizon CDMA network - not both.
Another key thing is you have the price wrong. A telus hero is gonna cost easily 550 or more. Plus the unlock fee unless you buy one preunlocked.
edit: lied you can get for 540 at puremobile, which im excited for now since i dont have to do an ebay crap shoot, or pay way more 630 plus shipping from importgsm
Hi folks!
I'm on Alltel right now and we're soon to go defunct. I want to be able to sell my and my wife's Hero's once that happens, but since Alltel wont exist any more i'm not sure if that would be...ethical (selling a phone for a defunct phone company).
I know this phone works on the Sprint network, so is there any way to convert (not sure of the nomenclature) my Alltel phone for use on the Sprint network?
Thanks guys, hope that makes sense.
You would have to load a Sprint PRL onto the device and manually program it work with sprint, then load a Sprint ROM but I'm not sure that Sprint would allow a non-sprint branded device on their network... Pretty much the same instructions here:

but replace verizon with sprint . And you would have to google the settings in which to modify or someone here can read you their settings for it to work
Hmm...good point. Nice thing is that there is no Alltel branding on the phone itself. I'm wondering if i could take it down to a Sprint store and have them flash their software onto it? Would that work?
yes it would work, but more of a question, would they do it?

So, if they could do it, wouldn't it be possible for me to find the RUU that they'd just flash on the phone and do it myself, without all the rigmarole of that Verizon thread?
If not, that's cool, i'm just curious
Theoritically, yes, however, to my knowledge, Verizon Doesn't sell a Hero they sell the Eris is which is the Hero + proximity sensor, so you would be hard pressed to find a Verizon RUU for the Hero . and even if you did, it doesn't change the internal settings to use Verizon towers, it just changes the looks.

I believe he's trying to get it to work with Sprint.
Sent from my Cyanogen flavored frozen yogurt.
Well in that case, Sprint Does sell a hero, but good luck in getting them to activate a non-sprint phone. It's all just politics folks!

I can confirm that Sprint WILL NOT activate a non-Sprint branded phone on to their network. I last tried about 8 months ago. I doubt they've changed since then.
Hey guys,
On a s4 now, and it has been acting up (aka random shutoff) and insurance said I should replace it. They are cutting me a check and I need to purchase one today. I researched the heck out of the ATT and TMOBILE variants, but I cannot find where the best place to get it is (aka COST). Also, I am not the best with technology, so how hard is it to use the TMOBILE on the ATT and does the carrier aggregation stuff matter?
Thank you sooooooooo much,
Brad
