Problem with contacts and activesync

hi all.
i have a few things id like to ask:
i recently just upgraded my wizard, then downgraded to the same rom again.
i used spb backup.
apparently it didnt save any of my contacts nor my text messages. (any ways to do that for the future?)
anyway, im sure they are on my activesync, but for some reason, it refuses to recognise my device as the same one and wants to pair it as a new one. new one means no contacts. is there any way i could just reload it and get my contacts?i removed outlook as i hate it, and had thought id done everything that needed to be done!

8528 Running extremely slow! Its having a major meltdown! Please help!

I am ready to throw my phone against the wall!
All of a sudden about 2 days ago my phone began to run extremely slow. I cant even describe how slow it was. If I tried to send a 8 word text and after the 4th letter or so it would simply stop recognizing keyboard input. Its acting like its low on ram but I have plenty of memory. If I let it sit, turned on, for a 10 mins or so it might finally show the text so I could then send it. Also, the internet stopped working and it wouldnt connect to my email server (hotmail). I did a hard reset, soft reset and nothing worked. Its acting like it has a virus or something.
Cut to today, I thought I could just reflash it with Black Satin Medium and it would fix everything. It always seemed like a good program and I never had any problems before so I thought I could just reinstall it. It was fine for about an hour and now its moving slow again. I dont know if it could have been one of the .cabs I installed but they are the same cabs I had on my phone for months before it flipped out 2 days ago.
So please help! I use my phone for everything and right now it is unusable!
Once I get that part figured out I need help to figure out how I can get my contacts back onto my 8525. I have flashed my phone before but they always appeared right back onto my phone when I was done. It was effortless. And now I cant figure out how to get my contacts back. On Activesync, when I go to Tools, Options, then try to select Contacts as an item to sync I get a message that says "Activesync cannot synchronize Email, Calander, Contacts, Tasks, and notes, because outlook is not installed on Windows PC. To Sync Email, Calander, Contacts, Tasks, and notes do the following: Disconnect the device, Install and run outlook, and then reconnect the device and try again."
But I have outlook on my PC and 8525. I never use either of them but they are there.
Lastly, and this is another big annoyance, any time I connect my 8525 to my laptop the clock on my phone jumps ahead 3 hours exactly. The time on my computer is the current time and so is the time on my phone. but everytime it jumps forward.

Hi Jim,
1. Hermes is a good device - don't do that with some patience everything will be fine.
2. In such a situation I will go to a major upgrade. Flash new radio e.g. 1.54, and maybe try some of new ROMs - Schap'a or Shamanix
- dont rush to install any cabs first, just see how the device performs for some time. Try syncing with your pc to see can you get the contacts on the devide
- it could be that some of the cabs got corrupted. maybe make sense to download them anew.
- start installing the cabs one by one, with significant time and usage between the installations - you can figure out which one is causing the problem
3. before start syncing for first time, just delete all mobile devices on PC activesync -- >File>Delete Mobile Device
4. Check your regional and clock settings
Have you installed any other software from your PC? I use to have similar problems with early versions of WM6 after installing CE-Star (Asian languages support)
Let me konw how the device performs

PS. It is recomended after fresh flash of ROM to hardreset the device imediatley and only then start installations od applications

I just installed Schap's WM6 Pro 4.20 ROM and its running much better. It looks to be a great program. I wish the clock wasnt so huge but it all seems to run great.
I still cant get my contacts to sync though. When I put my device name in there and connect using activesync it keeps changing the device name to WM_Owner.
Im playing with it. Any more suggestions could be helpful.
The regional settings were off. So the clock is now good.

Glad to hear that the device start running better
re sync issue - did you delete all mobile devices on Microsoft ActiveSync? after that you should be able to establishe a new partnership between the PC and PPC - then everything must work fine

But if i delete all of my mobile devices it will erase my saved info then my contacts will be lost for ever wont they?

You dont delete any info on your PC, only the partnership between PC and Pocket PC. This will not affect your contacts. After that should establish a new partnership - choosing all settings etc., and everything must be fine.
WARNING! Better first archive your contacts and then proceed.

I deleted one of the two relationships, WM_Owner, and it deleted the folder on my pc with all the info in it. I haven't deleted the WM_James_Klafe2 relationship yet because that's the one that should have all my contact info it it. that was the name of my phone before I installed schap's 4.2
I have it backed up, should I just delete it and see what happens when I reconnect it? should I name my 8525 WM_James_Klafe2 again?
I hate creating more clutter but I started a new thread that specially relates to this problem.

Hi Jimbo69ny,
Personally I test almost every new rom for Hermes, and every time there is a new rom on my device I do three things:
1. name the phone - e.g. WM_James_Klafe2
2. delete partnerships on the PC - do not do any backup etc.
3. establishing new partnership between the pc and ppc
thats all!
All my contacts are synced with no problem, including notes, and other stuff defined for synchronization. in fact your contacts are stored in outlook, and deleteing the partnership do not affects them at all

so what if I don't have outlook installed anymore? does that mean I lost my contacts? does someone a copy of office that has outlook in it someone could send me?

Damn it Ive been having one problem after another with my 8525 just when I think things are going good there is another set back.
My phone wont sync to my computer anymore. I have Schaps 4.20 installed and I installed the cube earlier today just to see what it was like because I was going to upgrade to shaps 4.3. I really liked it but I its more than I need. Now its time to upgrade and when I connect my phone to my pc i get a message that says "usb device not recognized"
What the heck is going on?
I uninstalled the cube from my ppc did 2 soft resets, restarted my computer and it still wont recognize my pcc

After two hard resets I finally got it to accept Shaps 4.3 rom. It still wouldnt do it after the 1st and 2nd hard reset but for some reason, the last time I connected it via usb, it worked.
THANK GOD! I dont know what happened and why it wouldnt connect but Im happy I fixed.
Still no contacts though

to best of my knowledge the contacts are stored in outlook. if do not have outlook on your pc i cant say what activesync will sync - my assumption is that you have, as you was able to sync some time ago, dont you?
(on my secnd pc i have outlook express and it syncs too with no problems)
which Cube you have installed? I never had such kind of problems with any cube.
the problem "usb device not recognized" happens from time to time - no idea about the exact reason. sometime it is enough to disconnect the device and connect it again, in few cases i needed to restart the computer - and then it worked with no problems. never did hardreste.
I am confused that you still cannot get your contacts synced. i guess you followed the steps i gave you previously
let me know how you forward
btw, try focussing on one issue only - get first your contacts synced

Text Messages not not syncing - ActiveSync

Hello.
I have researched this problem I came across and still can't find a solution to this.
Some ROMs like Omega and Energy do not sync text messages via ActiveSync even though the option is checked. There was another ROM (Kumars) on which syncing worked but still did not work properly (did not delete text from phone once deleted from outlook).
Has anyone got any ideas, CAB files or Registy Tweaks to fix it? It's not a very serious issue but I don't really make most of my new HD2 without that simple option

txt messages syncing over activesync? syncing to where? not the standard activesync to windows mobile device center, cos that doesnt do txt messages, (at least ive neer seen it)

Clearly your battery pins are bent, or you're not scrolling far enough up the list
I recommend a custom ROM, I think you'll find the "~[FoLgErS]~" series to be right up your alley

"You're holding it wrong"

No. I am talking about syncing text messages (sms) over ActiveSync to an Exchange Server 2010. Is it so funny? It used to work on stock rooms.

Near as I can tell, this feature is not ready for prime time.
In my case, I can create the SMS in Outlook. It gets synced onto my phone, and appears in SMS Sent Items... but it is not actually sent.
Then if on the phone I later create an SMS in the same conversation and send it, that message and the ones that were synced over ActiveSync all get sent out.
I'm running Indie's Omega ROM 2.7.2 but I recall similar issues with stock ROMs. I just don't think this works properly. It could be an issue with the HTC messaging client not behaving exactly like the Microsoft one in some way significant to how the ActiveSync client invokes the SMS client.

Um, and for all you know-it-alls mocking the OPs question about SMS and ActiveSync, well, SUCK IT!
(Just kidding -- this is a relatively recent addition to ActiveSync and probably not a lot of people know about it.)

Well. I must say it worked properly on stock roms. I had no problems sending texts from my outlook and also receiving them was ok. They used to appear in outlook seconds after they arrived to the phone. Now nothing appears and texts dont even get send when sent from outlook. This feature worked in Kumars ROM as far as i remember but it did not in Engergy and Omega ROMs.

Nobody has got any ideas?

I also have this problem. AND it is a "stock ROM". (But its a swedish rom).
But I can sync them to "myphone.micrsoft.com", but I want to sync them to the mailaccount on a Exchange 2010 server.

It's a htc message client issue. If you use the Zenyee Disable HTC messaging 1.2 it works

[Feb 2011] [Q] Recurring Dates in Calendar

I've set recurring calendar entries (Birthdays, etc) in my Calendar. Now with the new year, they are not showing up in this years calendar.... but if I go back to the original date and edit the entry, it definitely shows as a recurring event.
Consequently, I'm missing out on notifications of upcoming events, as they have not recurred over to the new year correctly.
How can I force the calendar entries to re-appear correctly, without having to manually re-enter all the entries again (which defeats the purpose of having a "recurring" setting)
I'm using the Stock 1.44 WWE ROM with Cookies v1 Home Tab to show multiple calendar entries on the homescreen. No other tweaks or registry changes have been made.

Just for future reference, You have no need to tag your topics with date/year, That is for posting ROM/Build releases not general questions/discussion.
Do you get same issue on different roms or just this one?

Only ever used the official Roms so far... not sure I'm ready to take the step into cooked Roms, until at least the original 12mth warranty is up.
I've found the thread here regarding setting up Google synch, which i've just done. Seems to have solved all the issues I was having
Would be cool though, if you could multi-select appointments (like birthdays, for example) and change settings on them as a global thing (eg, if I want to set up a generic SMS reminder 1 Day and 1 Week prior to the event... it's TEDIOUS to open up every birthday entry to set them)

Ahh yes you are correct, my bad. tbh its a silly thing to ask espesially since newbies/n00bs have trouble posting in correct section or reading stickies etc. (btw, not calling you a n00b, just speaking in general).

Installing cooked roms (espesially wm) is very easy and you can also revert back to stock rom/spl etc and your warrenty is intact.
Only thing you need to worry about is flashing incorrect radio as that can brick your device, plenty of info and guides to read though, you should definatley have a good read, you can really bring your phone to life with cooked roms.

Well I havent used WM6.5 regulary for nearly a year now so cant really help on this.
Have a really good read though and try some roms, its really easy.
And once you are confident you should 100% get Android on there

Took the plunge last nite and installed my first cooked Rom... Energy/NRG. F**k me it's pretty !!!!!
Still going thru learning how it all works and setting it all up to my specs. Having a few little issues with Active Synch for the calendar with the google/Gmail calendar I set up yesterday.
As described above, I managed to get the calendar synched up yesterday, with the stock Rom... but I am getting an "Invalid Security Certificate on Server" error on the NRG Rom, after following the same process of setting up the synch to google/gmail.
I know this isn't the right place probably to ask for help on THAT particular issue... but since it relates to my original question here, can anyone help on this please?

I've (FINALLY - TOOK FOREVER) managed to synch everything else with MS MyPhone... just need to synch the calendar with my google/gmail calendar.... but Active Synch (when phone is NOT connected physically by USB)... I can press the "Synch" button and A/S attempts to synch, then returns the above error.
If the phone is docked by USB and I attempt to synch, A/S just sits there and does nothing.
Pressing the "Menu" button reveals ONLY the "Status" option available to select.... all of the other options are greyed out and un-selectable.

I've just worked out what I did wrong..... instead of putting the Server as m.google.com, i accidentally put it as m.gmail.com ....... resulting in the certificate error message
OOPS !!!

Recurring Dates
Check HTC Support Downloads, you will see an update that fixes this very issue.
You will also see a 3.14 ROM, Oct2010 I think, that includes the update and some others in it.

HTC Sense Question

Guys, I have already had a good look through the threads here, and a good hoke thru the wiki, but couldn't find an answer to my question.
I have a blackstone running the XNOR 6.5.3 rom that I got from a friend when he upgraded his fone, I then unlocked it from Orange to O2, which works fine, but....recently Sense has been freezing my fone when I enable it.
I suppose what I am asking is, is there a way, aside from reflashing the rom, for me to get the fone back up to full working order, running sense, as I much prefer the GUI to the WM6 native interface.
I have a couple of sim and power fixes installed and enabled, but I am certain that these arent causing the issue as I have been using them from I got the fone on day 1.
If there is a way to sort this out without having to back everything up and save messages, calendar entries etc, I hope you all can give me the solution, as I really don't wanna have to go down the full reset route, as I cant really be offline as far as fone communications go. So in advance of your emparting of knowledge, I thank you and am much obliged.

Have you consider intalling "microsoft myphone"? it can backup everything with ease, then you can do an hardreset, reinstall myphone and resync.
After that you will have, contact, calendar, sms, also documents again on your phone.
The whole procedure will take 10 min, of course depends on how many contacts, sms, mail etc. you have on your phone.
On my phone i have about 100 contact, about 200 calendar events, some documents and wallpapers, 10-20 sms the whole sync take me 2 minutes top.
Hope i'd help.

Tbh id find somthing else other than Myphone, as microsoft will be closeing it and moving to sky drive, by august
