I'm wondering if there's help beyond those who travel down into the wizard forums about wifi on my device.
I have a Cingular 8125 flashed with Summiter's AKU2.3 Test2 rom. This has the 2.25.11 Cingular radio version installed, and I'm having wifi issues. My questions are as follows:
Does the radio version have anything/everything to do with the performance of wifi in the Cingular 8125?
Are there additional tests that I can see where the hangup is getting my device to work with a belkin pre-n router model F5D8230-4; Firmware Version 1.01.03.
Problem: My 8125 will not connect to a belkin pre-n router. It shows the network is available, it attempts to cnnect, then after about 5-7 seconds, it either says its unavailable for a few seconds, or it says the network is available but doesn't complete its connection. I've tried connecting to the router on all performance settings for wifi on my device, same behavior continues.
It WILL connect to a Linksys SRX 100 router, but performance is erratic. If I let it sit too long, it will timeout, and never get new data from websurfing... instead I have to disable the wifi, re-enable it, and get it to reconnect to the router, then wifi works again. It works for varing lengths of time, typically when I don't let it idle, it keeps the connection.
I'm unsure what will fix this problem. The radio in the original test AKU2.3 by summiter did the same thing as the newer radio packed in test2 - which is the radio version called 2.25.11 i believe.
Best hopes to a few chaps who can help me out here.
I did have Sum Sum installed, which related to the 802.11g registry mod, I've also tried removing that and still same performance. Any help?
WiFi issues after AKU2.3 upgrade
Hey mengesb,
I was just wondering... is your router a 802.11b or 802.11g?
I managed to connect to a computer using Internet Connection Sharing(ICF) on a g-wireless card, but I can not connect to a b-router. The logs on my router say the phone repeatedly managed to connect.
I had been connecting to both these setups everyday before I did the upgrade.
Hopefully this may help break down the problem.
The wireless router that I have the biggest issue with is a Belkin Pre-N router, so technically its 802.11g
Hey Mengesb,
I found an article on 4winmobile.com that might help solve your problem.
Here is what they say about pre-N routers:
One caveat for those using their HTC Prodigy with Belkin Pre-N Routers: You must update the Router firmware to V1.01.03 (available from the Belkin Download Page ). This is not necessary for the HTC Universal (O2 Exec, iMate Jasjar etc) which uses a different hardware WiFi system.
Unfortunately the updated Belkin firmware will not connect to the XDA IIi or XDA IIs, so if you own one of these and a MiniS, you will need to choose which one will be able to connect.

I also found out that that I had to reboot my router (Dlink DI614+ 802.11b) everytime I try to connect with my Wizard because even after disconnecting, the router still has the wizard registered as connected.
Hope that helps.

I'll check this out at my earliest convience but we'll see what happens. From what the router says - there's no newer firmware that is needed for the router. I'll see if this one is compatible, but the lat time I firmwared their router, heh, i nuked it - wrong firmware (pictures were SO the same!) anyway... they got this as a replacement.
Wifi disconnect
Having exact same issue as mengesb with WiFi disconnecting after 5-15 seconds (seems to hang on longer while I'm actively using WiFI, but disconnects nevertheless). I'm using the official download from HTC website
ROM 2.25.11.1 WWE
Date 5/6/06
Radio 02.25.11
Did a Hard Reset with no change in behavior. I'm using 802.11g (linksys WRV54G v2.37 firmware) and I had no WiFi issues using old original ROM (1.something) that I got with my Cingular 8125. When Wifi disconnects, the phone dutifully connects to EDGE/GPRS correctly and works fine, but slowly of course, through GPRS.
I've tried both answers to "My Network connects to ..." (Work vs Internet)
I've tried turning off cell radio (flight mode; then WiFi turned On)
Hmmmmph ...
try with the 802.11e QoS > setting in OFF in the Pre N settings, I did that and it worked!!!
im having the same exact issue with my new rom, the old one worked gread with my D-link 614 +, now it sees it but i wont connect unless you reset the router. Does anyone have any solution for this?
thanks
I reflashed my belkin today to the same firmware, and my mda couldnt connect (wizard 200). Disabling 802.11e did work, which implies that there is a bug in the mda with handling of 802.11e.
It may be worth noting this somewhere else as well since it may be that more APs will fail when 802.11e is enabled.
Just bought the HTC TyTN last week and everything seams to work fine except the WiFi module. I can't even get it to look for available nets ? I suspect the WiFi module is broken, but want to check if anybody experienced similar problems ? I'm using the Swedish ROM 1.18.263.2.
Thanks
Chrille
Im assuming you are within range right???? (silly question but you never know!!)
Also try adjusting the setting in start->settings->connections->wireless LAN.......set it to "best performance" then try again. If it works then i can only assume interferance is a factor or maybe your router might be at fault????
I tried to connect to the Internet via WIFI earlier today but didn't succeed. Now I tried again, at a different location, and managed to do so! I guess it all has to do with available networks, when there aren't any, the TyTN doesn't tell you so, but instead tries to connect via 3G.
Can anyone give me an idea of what's this weird situation?
For about 3 weeks the WiFi worked pretty well on the MDA III with (WM6) but one beautiful day it suddenly stopped!!!
I've hard resetted, reflashed the MDA - no luck
I've resetted the router security and the device itself - no luck
It keeps telling me that the network key is wrong / incorrect.
Now I read that a lot of people experience bad WPA integration in this WM6, but I can ensure you that it works! (at least it worked for some weeks)
So anyone having an idea
I had this problem but it was my netgear router that was the problem. I had to downgrade the router firmware to the previous release to get wpa to work again.
Hi! I have 3 Nokia e65 phones which have no problems connecting to the WPA WiFi...it's a Linksys WRT54GL router...
do you think it can still be the router that's causing the problem?
Hi guys,
my University stopped the 802.11b standard for their WLAN network (only g/n possible). Since that happened my HTC Hero (Elelinux-6.2.0-Hero-Speedmachine-v5-Reloaded) cannot connect anymore.
The guys from the computer core facility said that many HTC mobile phone seem to have this problem because the phone always try to connect with the 802.11b-standard first. Since it is not available anymore, the connection cannot be established.
My question is now: Does anybody know how to fix this problem? Is it possible to prevent the phone from using the 802.11b standard?
Thanks a lot!
Cheers
oh yeah i REALLY would like to know that, too. that's been pissing me off for years. i actually had the some problem with a linuxdriven notebook. i never got that to work.
this seems to be a fairly common problem, can anyone provide a solution for that?

you might be able to use the 3GTurboCharger_Installer.. I think this script changes it.
Today I dug out my trusty old XDA Exec, gave it a re-charge and was totally surprised when it started up fine and started my trip down memory lane!
One obstacle I soon stumbled over was connecting to a modern WiFi access point that uses WPA/WPA2 with TKIP or AES encryption.
I have now spent some 6 hours searching the forums on here for an answer to my question but as yet, I haven't found one and wondered if some kind more XDA experienced person could come up with a quick answer?
My question is really quite simple and straightforward. Bearing in mind that my XDA Exec (Universal) is running the last ROM update that was produced by O2 (Xda_Exec_Upgrade_v1.30.162), is there any sort of driver patch for the WiFi on my XDA that can be applied which will bring the WiFi up to date (so to speak) and allow it to connect to a router using WPA2 and AES encryption or does it require a complete change of ROM to something else?
If the answer to that latter part is "change the ROM", which ROM could I go for that would fully work for my device?
All and any answers much appreciated.
