Except it was only like 3 colors bars ,one was white and i think it was purple and yellow
I touched the screen but nothing happened except i got the word "serial" on the unit
conected to Pc the "serial" word changed to "Usb" nothing happened
I though it was bricked but then i took out the battery and put it in
and it booted fine
What realy happened?
did i just got the equivalent of a Windows Crash? or Wb bluescreen? (not realy a bluescreen but you get the point)
it havent happen again and taking out/in the battery solved it
However looking at those Colors was amazing they was much brighter than the screen so is like brightness went to top it realy shined up my room
but it was a bit scary

I had a similar problem with my MDA. I disassembled it thoroughly reconnected everything solidly and still nothing.
I kinda thought about the Archie Comics where Archie used to kick his Jolopy evertime it would not start and then it would. So I turned the MDA with it's WHITE SCREEN on and then slapped it hard against my thighs. Nothing happened. I slapped it hard again and IT WORKED. It has not gone white screen on me since.
That happened 2 months ago.
Sometimes, you just got to go Old School !

Hi!
Try pressing hard on the body at the bottom right corner of the screen, if image appears it means that the screen connector is loose, had the same problem, I placed i small peace of sticky tape on the top side of connector then plug it back in again, now i dont get white screens.
i have a tmobile wing. it randomly freezes while using it, fades to white then off, turns off
sometimes only way for it to come back on i have to take out battery and put it back.
when i turn it on sometimes itll loop the tmobile thing, maybe make it to the windows mobile green page then turn off and try again.
ive reinstalled the tmobile rom, installed open touch, still the same thing.
i read about the memory card having a loop porblem so i took it out, still. tried installing total commander and renaming the file but it wont let me rename it.
thought the screen ribbon or another wasnt in good so i took it part and made sure i put everything in good.
maybe the fact that a pin that touches the battery it broken? see how they make an arc or so. and the 1 is broken. is that the problem maybe?

That may well be the case. The first thing to try is to plug the phone to the charger and see if the phone works properly. If it does the next thing would be to get a new battery.
I had the same problem and it was solved by installing a new battery.
Best of Luck
yes it does do it while plugged into charger. a little less though.
and ive noticed that when i try to fix the back cover, doesnt fit right so it pops off on 1 corner, i take it off and put it back on tight, from me pressing down the phone likes to freeze and reboot.
ive been thinking about a new battery. i guess ill go ahead and get one then.
My ROM is NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.3-CM9 V1.1
The last thing I did was watch a video on YouTube (Application). I then got a black screen the next time I tried to unlock it, this has happened a few times with this ROM so I normally just soft reset it by taking out the battery.
However this time I did it again and my phone turned on, but was constantly black. It vibrated as if it was turning on but did not do any boot logo. Tried booting it into the tri-color screen and nothing still.
I have realised though that it is still booting up, and working like normally, but the screen is just black, it is a lighter black as if it's responding if I press a button. I managed to unlock my phone by doing my pattern, and I can hold the home button and feel a vibration, so I know it has booted into Android.
I'm just really not sure what to do, I've looked all over the forums and found one similar problem but no solution. I think I can get into the tri-color screen if I hold down vol down but it won't show the screen, I just know it is in the screen as I see the light is constantly a light black as if it is constantly on.
Shall I try Task29 or does anyone have any idea what I should do?
Edit*
I can now run AndroidScreenCast and operate my phone from my PC. I can control my phone as if i was normally, but the screen is just black. Like I said it turns onto a light black when anything happens but hat's it. Is it just my screen afterall? (It has been cracked for over a year now but no problems upto now..)
My guess is that you accidently disconnected the output cable from phone to display.
This should be the issue since there seems to be no screen but interactive elements.

Any idea if I can do anything about that myself?

Hmm the cable is right under the hardware buttons.
You can try pressing around them to have a chance of getting it back (no guarantee and if you break your display its not my fault).
If you are experienced enough you could remove the LCD but I don't know anything about that.

yes, you could be the ribbon cable connector to the motherboard, you must fully remove the display and see if the latch on the cable connector is closed.
Also check if the cable is securely attached to verify you see two small ends' near the copper plug is attached to the plastic connector on the motherboard.
good luck

Unfortunately the White Screen problem was happening to my Galaxy Y Intentional Version and I tried resetting and flashing the original rom again and nothing brought me the normal display back. Even not the Samsung Logo not showed up!
Everything worked fine since I could here sounds when booting up! So the Odin method worked in software side as per my knowledge.
Now, today I replace it with a new LCD. Thankfully it shows the recovery menu, download mode and Samsung logo but after booting up, alas! the colors are inverted and distorted!
I flashed again for original rom using Odin and it was successful. Make sounds usually and boots and responds to the keys except touch screen. (Middle key, Vol keys and Power key)
My doubt is, if there's any other hardware problem still there, how is it possible to display all the Logo, Download and Recovery Menu, Charging Icon crystal clear and not the Android home?
Here are some photos of the device.
Charging Works Fine

Samsung Logo also fine and clear!
Alas! What is this? This is what happens after all!
Inverted colors and Distorted image!
I need some expert advises! I possibly assume that this is a software glitch or something related. Correct me if I am wrong.
I don't want to go to a shop. I am in Sri Lanka and it will take forever and will not actually repair. I got once and they just replaced my SD card and LCD to a cheap and second-hand ones and now it is okay to try it myself at any cost! :crying:
I have moderate knowledge about Android and Electronics. Please guide me through and anyone who is having the same issue, support me. :highfive:
Thank you! :victory:
I have almost same problem, it is PCB issue, as I check with another LCD and it persists. Also software flash did not recover it.
Yes. I also replaced the LCD twice. It presists the same error. Now it's white screen of death. Trying to replace the display socket with my own tools.

Hello people.
I need help to decide if I should try to save my nexus 4 or not. It has been dismantled for the past half a year and i recently got it to show signs of life after battling the steady red ring of death. (Was simple by the way, just used a wireless charger for a couple of minutes) But if I turn it on, it vibrates, the screen lights up and that is just about it. So i have no idea if the phone itself is functional. Some of you might tell me not to bother with such an old phone, hell, they aren't even sold anymore. But this phone has stuck by me through thick and thin, and has a sentimental value. I nearly jumped of joy when it showed signs of life after such a long time. I am not a rich man, so i need to manage my finances. Screen replacement would cost me 25 pounds, back housing would be another 10, but what if the phone is still not functional? Is there any way I can find out if I should take the gamble?
Some info -
I am not entirely sure if there is an OS currently installed on the device, as I was experimenting quite a bit before the battery run its coure.
I am also missing one of the connector things that are circled (there is one and a broken spot where another one should be) but i have no idea what it connects to. The little peg itself is safe and sound in my possession, if it can be welded back. It connects to whatever is under the power button on the back housing.

The screen is cracked in three places, but was working the last time I remember. But there have been many (and I mean many) dis and re assemblies since then.
I probably love this phone more than my friends and family. Just want my favourite piece of tech to be my companion again.
Could the red light be due to a dead battery?

Thankls for the reply. The battery is new and the red light issue is sorted. The phone just doesnt do much more other than vibrate and light up the screen. How do i know if it is still worth investing money in is the real question.
