Hi peoples,
I'm hoping someone can help me here.
I've got push email enabled on my HD and using schaps advanced tweaks I've got my data connections to Always On,
however, when I do this, my MMS messages don't get sent or received.
I used the setup tool to automatically set my data connections, and I have two, O2 Active and mobile Web.
I'm going to try deactivating each one one at a time to see what happens but was just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem before I start playing. (don't want to make things worse)
Anyone know which connection sends MMS and which is used for data? etc
thanks
Ive had problems with my hd and previous eten x800 with MMS. Yesterday I tried something that I stumbled across. I changed the protocol? from WAP 2.0 to WAP 1.2 and the MMS started working withou problem. Its worth a try.
Gav
O2 Active for MMS
Mobile Web for internet\data

ok have the not for sale rom loaded, all works great except after connecting to the computer and sync'ing information when i disconnect it defaults to the csd connection instead of GPRS, needs a soft reset to get GPRS back can anyone help or suggest a reg edit for it?
Cheers
New official rom fixes this problem!
I am running the latest rom and I am still having this problem. I did not have it with the previous rom that I was using.
The only way I have found is to soft reset the atom.
Any ideas?
ok occasionally mine still reverts to the csd line error too...... but not always and ive found if u send an mms its fixed afterwards.. not sure what or why or how but on mine it is...so i have a dummy mms that goes to a myself and send it when it's playing up.... all fixed.. it must just jog its memory or something i have no idea but works for me....
Anyone else have this problem? or a solution?? must be a registry key that can force Active sync to go to GPRS not csd line...
I found an entry in the connection setting for Optus WAP. When you look at it a bit closer it is set up to connect via CSD. So I have deleted the connection settings for this and only left the Optus GPRS and MMS setting.
I have not had the problem occur since this. I imagine that this was set up via the auto configuration file that runs.
AJB
Where exactly is that i have checked all that and not found any reference to CSD Line, nor can i find the MMS settings can you tell me where you found it? Thanks
ok sorry found the setting you are talking about, wasnt in use but have added the internet settings and chosen that rather than let it auto choose or go to CSD.
Cheers
I am having a similar problem and have no idea where the settings are that let me view and change all the GPRS and WAP connection settings discussed here.
The G disappears on my phone and when I go to do something on the net it comes up and says it is trying to dial Optus Zoo - CSD instead of Optus Internet GPRS. If I turn the phone off then on or reset the device it gets the G back and all is well. If I send an MMS it sorts itself out as well.
I am sure I remember seeing the settings somewhere when I first played around but now it's as if the applet to access this stuff is missing? Or I am just forgetting where to look.
Can anyone please help? It's driving me crazy. Have a similar problem with a client's smart phone (not PDA) where he has to turn his phone off then on to get the G back.
Go to Start Settings Connections click advanced and select networks under where it says Programs that automatically connect to a provate networ should connect using ... find the setting that uses the CSD line and add the Optus GPRS setting, set it to not choose automatically but to choose the GPRS and save the settings...
you dont have to have this selected as this, but thats the only way to get to the setting and change it as far as i know, someone else may know different...
Have found tho it is an OPtus problem, i changed to Vodaphone in the last week and have no such problem..
Cheers
This is set correctly to Optus GPRS Internet Settings, there is no way to make it select automatically. No mention of CSD in there at all but there is an option for Optus ZOO WAP.
I don't have the choice of moving so need to solve this. Thanks for the help, guess I need to keep looking. Will look through the registry too.
its not in the registry you need to check each option cause one of them and not necessarily the one selected for use, uses the CSD line, you need to change the one that used csd line, you keep it selected for GPRS just change the CSD one so that that setting will always use the gprs.. hard to explain on paper pm me we will sort out
Hey there,
my last two HTC devices used to be able to switch from an "internet" data connection to a "WAP" connection automatically - e.g. when an MMS came in. The device would terminate the GPRS Internet connection and establish a WAP session to download the MMS.
Now using an LG KS20, I have to disconnect internet connection manually.
Why?
And how does HTC do it? Any way of getting automatic switching on the LG?
Many thanks,
N.
What kind of phone do you have? I have issues receiving MMS on just about every ROM I've used on my Tilt. Usually, a reboot will make it work, but I never thought about killing the 3G connection.
The message I get is simply "Forbidden". Do you think it's related?

Click to collapse
Dunno about the error message you get - but probably your Tilt uses different data connections for MMS (WAP) and everything else (3G Internet). Try terminating the 3G internet connection and see if the device starts a different type of connection to receive MMS.
Yeah... just figured that out. I had been soft-resetting the phone. Killing and restarting the network connection seems to do the trick.
Now, this begs question... why in the hell does a modern day WM6 phone still have this issue?
I'm hoping that there are more peple than just me using the HD on O2 with push email via exchange.
If your set up is anything like mine then you will have two data connections.
O2 Active and Mobile Web.
I posted a few days ago about having problems sending MMS messages, which seems to be down to having both data connections active. I've always set my connetions (both of them) to 'always on' using schapps advanced config. I have found that this means my push email works flawlessly and I can access the web straight way as it's always connected.
The downside of course is that I can't send MMS (although strangley...sometimes it does work). So, in order to test, I have set the connections to 'enabled'. Doing this meant that I was able to send a test mms this morning, which failed 2 minutes earlier when both connections were set to 'always on'. this is a pain because you have to reset the phone after each change of connection status.
With my connections set to 'enabled', theoretically this would mean that the connections are only made whenever they are needed.
This means perhaps a slight delay when first using the web, as my phone has to connect to the web first.
My question, is that if the connection is only established when required, and then disconnects again. How is it going to know I have email waiting for me? How will it get pushed to my phone?
So, can anyone else who has the same setup, please let me know how they have set their connections up.
appreciate your help.
Hello,
First
I have the latest rom from Miri
I had this morning the problem when i wanted to send a mms. But it didn't work
Apparently when flashing the rom, last week, the automatic connection setup didn't download all settings.
I tried to input them manually but i made to many mistakes
So my first thought was to remove all settings (there were 4 more Extra settings under the connections, some good, some partly, some bad)
trough the register i removed them.
But now, i have nothing left.
I CAN receive and send text message
i CAN NOT call/ be called
i CAN NOT go on internet
i CAN NOT send/receive mms
hell, i even can not let the HTC Connection Setup find settings for my provider....
i just hard reset the phone and guess what... The Connection Setup cannot find my connection settings, and i cannot update the connection database
So is there anybody who knows what the do now?
i find this really stupid and i'm desperate
Pls somebody, anybody HEEEEEEEEEEEEELP
ive been a lurker here and have been searching for a solution all over the place but nothing seems to be working.
i can receive messages fine but sending i cant! this was never a problem with my eten x650...i didnt even touch the settings on my eten and it worked flawlessly
if going to settings > personal tab > phone > click on services tab > click on voice mail and text messages it always brings me an error "cannot read settings from the network. try viewing settings later, or disconnect data connection and try again.
i have tried viewing it later, my data connection is always off since i dont have a data plan.
any tips or help? thanks!
looks like my settings via the sms program and they are:
server name: at&t mms
gateway: wireless.cingular.com
port number: 80
server address: http://mmsc.cingular.com
connect via: at&t isp
send limit:300K
wap version:wap2.0
I had a similar problem It may help if you go to settings connections and clickconnection setup again it worked for me and maybe worth a try before Hard reset etc
Hope it works for you
nope that doesnt work. tried that on multiple accounts.
i had hard resetted for the HTC rom update but still same problem
Ring up your service provide they can help you with the setup and do some test to determin were the fault lays there end or th phone.
Also you may need to check settings/ connections/ advanced network/SMS tab there are some options.
i havent called my service provider but i just think it weird that my previous winmo phone worked fine without even touching the settings. i just popped in the sim.
everything in that sms menu is correct....its "GSM preferred" as people have suggested to me. tried them all and tried to send sms with each setting to no avail.
My sister's phone just started today displaying the EXACT same behavior as b-16707, except her phone is a treo flashed for metro. My wife also has a treo on metro but not experiencing issues at all. My sister has WM5 and my wife's Palm.
