Hi everyone,
We've been having some reception problem on a T-Mobile Wing. It's currently running PDAVIET build 20764 and radio ver. 03.21.90. Tried several radio ROMS and none of them would give good signals. A lot of times it would show "No Service", sometimes we'll get good signal for a couple of minutes but immediately disappears afterwards. It's already HardSPL-ed and SIM unlocked. Anybody has similar experience?
Thanks!
i have the same problem as you do.... i just recently purchased another wing from craigslist... The first wing that i owned, worked great with no reception problems... I tried a different radio and took the antenna from my old wing, did not help what so ever.. Anyone have a clue of what the problem might be?
Will try to stop by at HTC service center on Monday. Anybody else has any clues?

Ok, I'm fed up now. My Tytn is dropping a ridiculous amount of calls lately, and I'm tired of it. I've set it to use GSM/GPRS only, so it's not an issue of switching between 2G and 3G.
My current ROM info is in my signature. I've been avoiding going to another ROM because I would never be able to go back to the original Tytn one if I wanted to. But now, I'm ready. I'm tired of the dropped calls.
So, with that being said... please, give me your suggestion of what ROM I should upgrade to.
Many thanks in advance,
SP111
Sleuth,
If you happen to read this, I'm interested in hearing about your setup as shown in your sig.
I'm using Dopod's Rom (Not the AUS one), it's quite good, snappy responsive. Once a while crashes if i leave wifi on over night, otherwise very stable. as for voice quality, it's amazing, havn't had problems with dropped calls. Before you change ur rom, i'd suggest u check that it's ur provider and not your fone. when u sure it's ur fone, try the dopod rom.
SP111,
I am experiencing the same problem. I am using the 8525. I changed SIM cards and that did not help much.
Hope to see what others think...

Put you SIM card in another phone (Nokia OR SE) and see if you face same problem, if yes, then it is RADIO signal problem in your Area. Otherwise the choice is in your hand to proceed for ROM upgrade on TyTn for Radio only. (See WiKi Pages for ROM Upgrade Radio Ver. 1.20.31.10).
why dont you try the new ROM 1.35????.
there are good comments about it. I will upgrade my vodafone v1605 to it..
good luck

For me is was a matter of which provider I used. I switched to another (from Tele2 to Telenor, if you're Norwegian ) and I never had that problem again...
Sorry, I should have been more clear about one point... I still have my Cingular 2125 (HTC Faraday) as well as my old Audiovox SMT5600, and I have tested these phones with my SIM, and do NOT experience problems with dropped calls. So I'm pretty sure it's the Tytn.
My TyTN is on Cingular. I've never had a dropped call. I do have some issues picking up calls though. Interestingly, I the same issues with my Cingular 8125 (wizard).
I've picked up a second-hand Qtek T-Mobile 9100 MDA.
Device is working properly, but the reception is very bad.
Mostly of the time, there's no connection, and sometimes, one stripe appears.
Manual search for providers brings no result.
First i've tried with my T-Mobile NL Sim, and i've only had reception once.
Because i wanted to rule out the possiblity that T-Mobile was the problem, i first tried it at another spot (at my work, at home, and at my girlfriends palce)
The device was SIM locked, zo I unlocked it, and after that, i've tried my Vodafone NL Card. The Sim and CID lock succeeded, but i've still got problemens with the reception, and i was lucky if i even HAD a reception.
Then i've tried loading the 2.26 ROM on it, installation was succesfull, but still the same connection/reception problems.
Then i've loaded the Windows Mobile 6 Underground Edition to my 9100, and this didn't bring any succes, still a very bad reception.
Then i'v decided to concentrate on the Radio ROMs, iv'e tried these versions:
2.19.11
2.47.11
2.61.11
All of these didn't improve the quality of the reception.
I've read a trick with Aluminium foil? I've no doubt that it could improve the quality of the reception, but I think it will only be a couple %? Of could i be wrong? Or could it be a hardware problem?
Thnx in advance for your help

I then installed the WM6 Underground editon.

I am impressed that your first post contains so much good and thoughtful information! Thank you!
The user posting about the foil tried that as a result of a poor connection point inside the phone for the copper leads, you might check that.

I have two HERM 200s. One is an HTC and the other is an unlocked Vodafone model.
The Vodafone model has worked pretty well for phone reception in my area. However, the HTC has not.
I have upgraded the radio several times on the HTC and now to one of the most recent, I think 1.43. This has not helped reception. I can use both TyTNs at the same location standing at the same point and the Vodafone doesn't have any problems but the HTC will drop the call generally while trying to make a call or answer a call.
Has anyone see this issue or have suggestions on how to resolve the reception problem?
Thanks!
Hi,
my prophet denies to connect to my service Provider (O2 germany) out of a sudden. It will connetct at startup for ca 1 Minute and then loose the Network.
I had the "Gullum Prophet touch some version before X" running for several weeks and then it stopped connecting. I just used it and did no installations or hackings.
The sim card works fine with an other phone and vice versa other sim cards don`t work with the prophet.
I've flashed the "Gullum Prophet touch X" and the Problem is the same.
Any Ideas? thx
I have the same problem too, tried all downgrade and upgrade options but no solution yet,any help appriciated tx.
Have you tried a different Radio ROM (the Wiki!), or altering the settings in Start->Settings->Connections (tab)->Connectons to those specific to your service provider?
similar problem
Not exactly the same - but seems like once a week or so I stop receiving calls and need to restart my PDA. Haven't found a solution yet - just something I started getting used to. It usually happens after a nightly charge.
My only suggestion would be radio ROM, or a different ROM entirely. (both on the Wiki).
sorry for not responding ...
and thanks for your suggestions. I had downgraded my rom and my Radio to the original shipped ones, but the problem is the same!
At least I had a konversation with my provider, that gave my some hope. She thought it might be a network problem and not a hard- or software failure!
why do I have to call them about 10 times saying the same things?
BUT: this call is 10 days ago and nothing has happend so far.
If there is anything new to tell about, I will post it
so long, dertka
Hello,
I have a problem with delayed SMS/calls; I often receive my txt hours after they’ve been sent, also at times phone calls don’t come through. I've also noticed that it searches for network at least 3 times a day possibly even more. I have already tried hard resets, reinstalling the Rom and Radio also bought a new battery, however nothing fixed the problem. In addition I have contacted the provider and they’ve informed me that nothing is wrong with the network.
Cingular 8525 T-Mobile WM6 on Fido network.
ROM Version: 3.62.502.3
Radio Version: 1.54.07.00
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you.
which rom are you using... have you thought about using a different rom and/or a different radio...? I'm assuming that your phone is unlocked, but using the OEM rom? I would try upgrading the radio first, just a thought, but it may be a reception problem.... have you confirmed the phone number that is being used for the text messages... It should be correct, but you never know... Anyway, just some random thoughts... Hope one helps...
