[REQUEST] Sports scores tab for tf3d - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

I apologize if this has been posted or if this is the wrong place to post app requests but I had the thought one of the cool things about TF3D is that it allows everything to be accessed from the today screen. Weather, Music, Email. Everything except the scores from your favorite sports teams.
So here is my Idea how about a Sports Tab, much like the weather tab that can be customized with up to 3 of your favorite teams and sports with a icon representing the team and the score for the current game or start time for the next game along with current standing in their respective division.
Anyone else think this would enhance our devices even further than they are now.
Here's a very poor picture to give an idea of what I'm talking about. Sorry I suck at graphics

I think someone should post a sticky on this. >.> There can't be tabs added unless you want to find the source code for manila. The only thing remotely possible was the calendar tab which was achieved by D-MAN666. I don't think this is possible. In fact, I don't think adding any other tab besides the stock tab is possible. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well being that he was able to create the calendar tab and of course create the idiamond interface maybe its possible since the weather tab is just a collection of icons and data imported from a website(at least i believe that's how the weather tab works) then maybe that can be rewritten to include the sports icons and import sports data instead of weather and if the individual sports teams are too much then use generic sports icons. Just a thought.

ooooh would love this!
+1

+1 !
This would be my favorite tab ever. Or even if it couldnt be another tab maybe a program that does sports like the iPhone or Instink does...

Custom HTChome TABS?

Hey guys, gotta question/idea here I want you genious devs to ponder on if you don't mind. Since a ton of people on here use the HTC Home plug on there phones, and with all of the new apps that you guys have given us, such as A_C's S2 programs, and TCPMP, and all of the new contact apps like iContact and things, is it possible to create new tabs for the HTC home plug to go with these?
I know that probably the first response I'm going to get is to try some other program to get the ability to launch these from my home screen, but I like the over all feel of the HTC Home plug. It's so much simpler than using multiple apps to achieve the look , and the weather app and home section are awesome.
I just think it would be pretty cool/convenient if it were possible to make the music tab bring up S2P, and the contact tab launch iContact or something, and to be able to change the profile tab to S2V or any combination of programs. Pretty much the ability to add a tab, name it yourself , and choose the program it launches. Just like the app launcher with the plug, just for the tabs.
It seems like it would be simple for one of the geni's on here (I'd have no chance at it). HHCcustomizer gives the ability to add and remove tabs, so all thats missing is the ability to change the program it launches pretty much.
I have no clue if its possible, or how hard it would be. I've just seen a ton of other programs give the ability to choose the program launched and thought it may be possible here. I know some REG Editing may do it, but myself, with probably many others would be lost here. But this was just an idea. Would anyone else be interested in this?

New weather source for South Africa

Hi Guys,
I'm helping the SA Weather Service which is the ONLY accurate source of weather for SA & SADC (all these global servers are so appaulingly wrong that most of us SA's just disable the wether tab in our HTC).
They are keen to provide a weather source to the public for use on various mobile devices. Currently they generate an extensive xml file 3x per day, and all I need to do is help them specify the new file format.
I have some questions I am hoping someone here can help with:
There must be a standard format for these information sources, which I am guessing is am xml file. Ideally this will be small to minimise bandwidth served. Where can I find this schema?
Are there various standards for various apps, or do most weather apps use the same standard?
Can we just put this xml into a public directory, or do we have to have some sort of web service running?
Is it possible to make the HTC Home plugin use our data source - the hacks I've seen are related to adding different cities, not changing the data source?
Finally, I'd like to hear which apps you guys use that have the ability for one to specify a different data source. We're powerless if the app only allows a choice of 2 or 3 Russian servers.
Oh yeah, does anyone have any insight into Nokia and Symbian weather apps? If we crack this for HTC/WM, will the others work too?
Hey...this sounds brilliant...
Sorry..not gonna be much help with your questions...but wishing you the best of luck..
Wont a normal RSS feed work well based on a chosen city? I somehow think that the web service would be the best option...
Maybe this might help
GREAT!!!
I do hope to see this soon!!!
Sounds cool!
Howsit to fellow South Africans!
Im not into the weather much, Im happy With the results from SPB weather.
I know that there is not much cities supported, like in Natal, you can only get Durban, but what if you are in Margate!
I think the most of the apps rely on Yahoo Weather source........It uses .xml coding, but im not sure about the rest!!!
Howsit peeeps!
SAWS is the ONLY source of accurate weather. All other sources come from global models - usually Euro or US centric. They are appaulingly wrong for SA, for many reasons; they do not consider topography in the slightest, and their resolution over Africa is around 100km vs 4km for local models.
You will often see temp projections of 15'C to 25'C when SAWS is saying 5 to 15. How different is that! You will see clear skys when you are sitting here looking at a dense cloud bank from George thro to PTA. They're all basically SO bad they are less than useless (less, cos they make you think you know what's happening).
RSS feeds are an easy option, but we all like our cutsie phone apps, so I want to get in line with those. Ideally I want to find a freeware app, with awesome capabilities, and make sure SAWS provide data for that. Then we can post it widely here as the prefered SA option.
C'mon guys, who's developed weather apps and has some insight? I have to move fast before SAWS lose interest.
I'd love to help but have absolutely no clue on this! I use Pocket Weather and HTC Weather on my device and yeah, the forecasts are appallingly wrong 90% of the time! Hope you can get this up and running with SAWS...
Target Market
Is this only aimed at WM users??? or for the broader public....
Was the link posted above useful?? (http://developer.yahoo.com/weather/)
As an alternative slightly of the track...what if the developed a mobile website...lightweight...easily available...the limitation could be personalisation...
Sorry, yahoo link is to get their RSS feed. Their data is sourced from nternational model - all of which exclude the topography of SA (if you live in CT you can't even begin to use them).
As for min-web-site, that's a fallback. But people really do prefer an on-screen plugin, with the ability to click for more details. I'm looking for apps that support clicking thro to radar images (live stoom tracking to resched your braai!), weather and traffic cams (SAWS has them all!), and of course the up-to-the-minute data tables with forecasts etc.
Apps exist, but not sure which allow you to select data sources.

Titanium Plugins: Tasks & RSS?

I'm loving all the new today screen options we have these days, but sometimes I feel like we're missing the basics- on my old today screen (before Manilla came out) I always had my basic active tasks, calendar, and RSS feed available, which I considered invaluable.
When Manilla came out, I had hopes of an RSS and/or tasks tab, but sadly it appears HTC overlooked it and did not really encourage much development for TouchFlo3D.
I have new hopes with Titanium, especially because I see favorite people and weather plugins being developed and released here! Technically, the weather plugins are very similar to an RSS feed, that should be very possible. And the tasks- well, if someone is able to access the contacts data, I'm sure this too is possible!
Is there anyone who may be able to help?
Yes an RSS reader would be beneficial actually.
I would like to see a tasks panel myself! It would come of great use to me. Thanks for voicing your opinion out, as i didnt know how to word/encourage other developers to maybe try to create one
Check the excalibur forum, I think I remember someone making a tasks panel already and a stocks panel. It will take some searching probably since it was a while back. May need a little updating to work just right with 6.5
Excalibur? The smartphone edition device?
I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing- I'm talking about the new 6.5 Titanium home screen from MS, not the classic today screen plugins (that are sadly becoming extinct due to all the flashy today themes that are all the rage).
Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see how a plugin for a smartphone device not running 6.5 has anything to do with it... there ARE classic plugins that do exactly what I'm talking about, but Titanium is a whole new breed and requires some new plugins to be coded.
Anyone want to help get this process started?
We definitely need a tasks WM6.5 panel. If you look at the Calendar panel, it scrolls through your appointments. This is exactly the way a tasks panel should work! Cmon someone please make one!!!

titanium has been out for a long time in smartphones (6.5 just brought it to the touch screen variants of winmo)
What he is saying is that it was made for smarphones, so all the code should be there, it may just need a couple adjustments.
+1 to this.
I would love a tasks plugin and RSS would be nice too.

Ah, yes, the whole NEO interface thing introduced on the Shadow, right?
I was under the impression that the new Titanium on professional edition devices was a new breed- I was not aware that anyone had ported plugins from one to the next.
I've started working on a Titanium Tasks application, but I haven't pushed forward because I know the updated 6.5 SDK should be available on launch day (May 11th.)
I'd be happy to go back at it if there really is interest (and it seems there is), or collaborate with others to work on it. My strengths are primarily C# on the .NET Framework.

I agree, an RSS plugin would be really beneficial.
For example, I'm going to Cornwall soon for surfing and have found a RSS feed containing surf reports for all the local hot spots with conditions and reports.
A simple RSS feed would allow me to see these details right from the today screen.
Surely, writing such a plugin would not be so hard?
Well, is please actualy a some RSS plugin for Titanium?
For tasks try taskanium

For RSS feeds i saw some developments going on, for example

Review: Infinity UI with my HTC Touch Pro2 (WM6.5)

Acknowledgement: Infinity is in a very early development stage,it's not yet a finished application, this review doesnt reflect the final completed software, the purpose of this review is to let devolopers and would-be users to contribute ideas in order to make final completed software more perfect.
please see full review with pictures in the following link:
http://forum.ageye.de/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=1461&p=7600#p7600
The Infinity v0.2.1 is apparently not compatible with WM6.5 very well, I even cannot set background picture for the desktop,so there must be some buttons missing.
Generally it looks very promising, compared to Touchflo 3D,it’s much more customizable, you can put any shortcuts and widgets in anywhere of the desktop, this is the feature millions are looking for;Compare to SPB Mobile Shell, the Infinity looks very similar but more agile and you can set everything neat and usable immediately.
Like SPB Mobile Shell, the Ageye Infinity let you do two most important things:
One,you put all your most important shortcuts and widgets on the desktop,NOTE any location of the desktop. While for Touchflo 3D,you basically cannot do much about the desktop, this sucks badly and I am suffercating every time I see Touchflo 3D.
Two,you put less important or less frequently used shortcuts in Favorite Folder (in SPB Mobile Shell,it’s called Launcher,in Infinity,it’s the middle button I saw when I tested it in my HTC Pro2 with WM6.5 rom).
As I didn’t see the Infinity Manual,it took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to use it, I should say it’s more or less close to SPB Mobile Shell when it comes to customization of desktop and Favorite Folder.
The difference is,for example, you want to place Contacts in the desktop, first you need to add “Shortcut” in the desktop, this Shortcut is an empty icon, then you click on this Shortcut icon to find the path of the Contacts.
If you are interested to try out Infinity v0.2.1,please download(probably need registration):
http://forum.ageye.de/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=1369
Install to your main memory, then in programs you can find a Infinity program icon, click to run.
Suggestions to developers:
1. how to set the background for desktop, the default background is not-so-good-looking,there is no button that can set this, please update based on WM6.5.
2. where is the general configuration? How to set Infinity to replace Today? How to change language? How to set the number of pages of desktop?
3. how to change the size of icons in the desktop? In SPB Mobile Shell,it got this feature, you can make the icon small, big, professional, transparent etc etc.
4. about the right and left soft key configuration,it seems that the option is very limited, can we assign any programs and widgets for the right and left soft key?
5. For Infinity own widgets, I suggest you to add Task Manager, this is most often used tool,In addition,if we can put this Task Manager in the right soft key, that will be very convenient! I saw SPB Mobile Shell has a great Task Manager widget, users can use Shell extension tool to put it beside the Launcher.
Looking forward to your great update soon!

Exactly! And it's already pretty amazing.
This UI seems to be alot like PointUI.. I dont know a lot about coding but it seems like a very early version of the same UI
I dont doubt that it is entirely different that's just my two cents from screen shots of Infinity.
Pointui you can use tons and tons of different themes and wigets etc as well.
ie:Pointui Sense, Nexus One, Mac OS... the list really is endless.
Just some food for thought. If you like Infinity you should definaly give pointui a try. That said...... if you're the developer and just trying to spread the word about Infinity.. My bad! I looks promising!

It's not really like PointUI - it doesn't crash as often
No, I've tried (bought) PointUI and other than the PointSense theme (which has been abandoned by its developer) there's nothing much about PointUI to get excited about Add to that the fact that PointUI hasn't seen an update from its developers in a very long time...
I think that Infinity shows more promise than both SPB Mobile Shell and PointUI combined. People are forgetting that what they've seen so far is only an ALPHA version!
About the task manager, try to press on the top bar...

I did a quick post about the new start screen on my website. Would love it if people could check it out.
http://geekshavelanded.com/windows-phone-8/
i LOVE the new Startcreen <3
Tile colour variations and folders
I watched the video and it didn't go into the options of..
Folders on start screen
nor
Changing colours of each tile
Both these features I would think are a must to keep up with the although shabby highly effective widgets and folders on ICS 4.0.
If I wan't to visually separate work and play on my windows phone, I would think that having a colour code would be the best visual differentiator. Also, if I wanted to place small sized toggles on the start screen which turned gps on and off, torch on off, 3G on off then I would want to have a specific colour set for those buttons so I could find them in even my most dizzy states of mind. Plus, think of the cool patterns you could make... Is anyone thinking 'Ziggy' from Quantum Leap?
Also, with 100 00 apps and growing, unnecessary crowding could be overcome by placing similar apps into customizable folders (which share the live tile display). I know its a legacy term but I still use an 'Accessories' folder on my SGS3 to place things like calculator, voice recorder etc. just the same as Windows 95.
I've heard rumors / requests but I haven't seen anything definitive from MSFT yet, so have I missed something?
I think it's a very different concept, those tiles.. But i still find it confusing.... I'm that kind of person who is obsessed with organization, tagging things and putting them into specific categories, I don't think I'd be OK with a lot of random things mixed in my home screen... But maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it, and probably this UI is more friendly for smartphone beginners.
I am as well. I have my tiles categorised by their purpose. Personally I think being able to resize the tiles as I please will make this easier to do...
nice
