Wizard Problem - Please Help

Hi there,
I have a mda vario and yesterday it started gaving me a problem.
If i open the keyboard to write an SMS or something the touchscreen will not work.
BUt if I leave the keyoard closed it will work perfectly.
Any ideias why this happens?

Could be cable damage inside the unit. How old is the MDA?

unit is a few months old.
maximum 5-6 months..
What cable are you inside are you talking about?

If its within warranty why not get it repaired by the manufacturer?
There is a flexible cable between the keyboard and screen units, if this gets damaged you may see some strange issues.

I can not send the phone to warranty because the is no mda here in portugal.
I would have to send the phone to england here I bought it from.
Can you please tell if the flex cable is sold separaly from the screen or keyboard?

TouchScreen does not work - HELP PLEASE!!!

if it still does it after a hardreset it's a hardware issue

if its still under warranty, take it back. To change the lcd is pretty pricey and its so NOT worth the hassle of trying to change the touchscreen... If you need to fix then try ebay for screens or a broke phone. Got my new jasjam for $120 Australian and surprise, surprise, just a dud battery and camera module. Replaced from old phone and now it works fine...

Crashed forescreen/touchscreen...?

First sorry for my bad english,ill try to keep it good.
So , i have bought today an second-hand HTC Charmer (Tmob mda compact II) which has a broken touch or forescreen , i dont know how to call it, im a bit newbie to PDAs.I can control it from my pc with SOTI Pocket Controller via activesync but its a bit useless with touch ability . And here comes my idea! I know that Compact I and COmpactII is different in hw but! i have an fully working MDA Compact I too , and that has no problems! is it possible, to disassemble the Compact I and put his screen (or just his touch thing(soz as i know(and as here is also visible)that not the screen is recognizing the touch,but a paper like thing on the screen))into my charmer? If yes, than i would take help ^^ thanx for your help! !Screens about the charmer attached(packed into zip)!

why dont you try it. they are very easy to open. if i remember wright me old mda1 had same screen connector

The screens are the same so it will work if you change them over, you also need to change the button part as well,for some strange reason the mda 11 one dont work with the mda 1 screen,hope this helps.

Hi all,
I'm real frustrated at the moment with my i-mate jasjam branded hermes 100.
It started a couple of days ago when my screen would get all glitchy. I ignored it. Then i got it whenever i put pressure on certain parts of the casing and now from that it manifested and it does it whenever i hold it in a certain position etc... It's really starting to tick me off... 1300 dollars for this? has anybody experienced this issue? ive heard it's a hardware problem... im running shamanx windows mobile 6 ultimate rom...
I need my phone to keep in contact with some real important people.. any ideas?

He may have been lucky. Here we re-use threads and there have been quite a few on the white screen problem.
Here's one of the main ones - I suggest you look at the suggestions about placing a pad on the D-Pad chip:

ohk sorry but the buttons do work perfectly fine it's only the screen... also the usb port is loose so whenever i need to charge i need to push it in a particular way so i just place it on its face upside down to charge and i use an ftp program to get files off of it insstead of usb >-< it was a really nice phone till it started doing this and cbf sending for repairs il just buy a new phone when i get the money and yeah if i decide i might try something that requires opening it up but i just cbf

Well, the reason to pad the D-pad chip is because the d-pad circuit board is the one that the screen connector connects to and the chip is the one that processes the screen signals. So although your buttons work fine, it is still that board that causes the screen whitening.
The usb port sounds like the anchoring solder joints may be cracked. These can normally be resoldered.

Try to perform the solution provided by mikechannon only if u can assemble and de assebmle ur pda very accurately, because the pros and cons of that method are describle in that page.
This solution worked for me at least and i am very much thankful to mike for giving me solution to that problem.

Help Pls... HTC Wizard 200 White Screen Only But i can still hear it's booting

Hi, guys, it's been awhile since i last posted. i hope i u can help me with this....
at first my LCD Screen turns white sometimes when i slide it into landscape and portrait, but that was not so often... after 3 days without that weird problem when i pickup my wizard form my working table yesterday it's all white though i can still here the buttons responding bcoz it ticks. i can even coll my cellphone...
is there someone could tell me what went wrong with my wizard?

flex cable (cable between lcd and phone) is broken.. You can buy new, it's about 10$ on ebay.

or your connector is just loose

thanks for the quick reply, i have download the HTC Wizard 200 service manual and i will try to see if i have a loose flex cable. and i hope josefcrist is right, co'z it will take sometime for me to buy a new one if it's defective...
