Help Please. You guys are way too advanced for me. I am a desktoper at best but NEED this tool to do certain things wanted. When I start the program, it says "NULLReferenceException". I went to the "fix it link" but don't know how to do it.(not good in registry). You say to "delete the tweak.xml in program directory of my tool". HOW DO YOU DO THAT??? I tried the "change pressure threshold" in the registry but don't think I did it correctly. If anybody could give me details for a beginer, i would be in debt to you forever. I need to know how to changge a registry value or string or whatever I'm supposed to be changing. Also, maybe this shouldn't work on a brand new ;Verizon touch pro 2?? Am i trying for nothing?? If so what can I use instead. I want the "Dirty Paper" theme. Plus ten of the TF3D's other features. Please help.......Thanks

Have you tried total commander already?
With this program, it's very easy to change registry settings and it has a built in search function that works like a toad on a soap hill.
please, go here : http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
thanks fuzzfuzz. I will try it....

Hey all, I had a problem with my screen tapping itself and got a replacement today.
On this one there is no Task Manager in the programs menu.
Anyone know why? and more so, where can i get it or something that does the same job.
Thanks
JAmes
James, what do you want your task manager to do?
There are a number that might fit the bill!
V
Start > Settings > Memory and there's a tab with your running programs.
Now not to be too off-topic, when I was delving into the registry I found a key which I wondered what it did. Perhaps there's a latent shortcut out there???
HKLM>HARDWARE>DEVICEMAP>KEYBD> (D) TaskManVKey = 46
Looks like a taskmanager maybes???
Anyone know what this does?
Joe
Thanks for the reply.
Want it to close programs properly. I could do this through the start>setting>memory method. But i like that i could just go Start>TM and close things.
I tried magic button for a while, never really took to it. Still getting the Hang of the who PDA thing and its easiest if its just the windows programs, then i can see why I should be using the other ones

I also just realised that there is no battery info on the Today/Items screen.
recon something funny is going on?
should i hard reset?

James,
Consider using a program like SmallMenu when you're more familiar with the device. I highly recommend it, and it has a task manager of sorts built in.
There are various freeware or cheap task managers around.
If you want to try something entirely unobtrusive, you can try my program called VJOkButt.

James, I have no particular experience with the O2 files, but I wonder if this is an O2 file. Have a quick shufty over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37909&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=age
Is that the same thing you're after?
V
That helps. Looks like the wee bells and whistles are only on the Basic install type instead of corporate. Might have to revert back to it, i just liked it begin a bit cleaner.
Thanks again
JAmes
James, if you're planning to revert to the O2 stuff, investigate the "extended rom" and then you can pick and choose the bits you want to install, instead of all the unnecessary gloop.
V
I plan on doing that as soon as I can be bothered
I've been reading through alot of the posts on it for the last week or so and shall give it a bash.
Thanks
JAmes
Vijay - is that reg entry I posted a hidden shortcut to the task manager?
Many thanks,
Joe
joebongo: I don't know if you've been reading about my attempts to hack the hardware keys on the universal, VJElectrify, but I came across these keys a couple of days ago. Searching the net, I can't find anything definitive on them, and hope someone else can help. The only thing I found that seems half relevant is this:
Code:
When the user presses the CTRL+ALT+END key combination, the Windows Thin Client Shell brings the shell UI to the foreground. To configure this key combination, set the following registry entries.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD]
"DriverName"="Kbdmouse.dll"
"CalVKey"=DWORD:0
"ContLessVKey"=DWORD:0
"ContMoreVKey"=DWORD:0
"TaskManVKey"=DWORD:23
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...wce50conconfigurescreensaversinthinclient.asp
That seems to be a very bizarre place to put such an entry, but I can't find any other informative references. I don't imagine it does much, but the entry isn't mirrored on the PC so it's not vestigial AFAIK.
V
o2 do still install the Task Manager, even with their latest ROM, so perhaps your returned device has been configured in Corporate mode, rather than Basic mode.
If the o2 stuff has been installed from extended ROM, you'll find a folder:
"\Windows\Mobile Solutions\O2ActiveUI\Modules\TaskManager"
containing Task Manager. Other folders under ..\Modules\.. have the rest of o2's customisation.
o2's Battery icon is launched from the "\Windows\Startup\" folder, but you can instead enable the "standard" battery icon (next to the "radio button" icon) with a registry hack:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\Power]
"ShowIcon"=dword:00000001
Good day for everybody!
Maybe you know such a wonderful software Tweaks2K2. Using it I can set one interesting thing - in the 'Internet Tricks' in the 'Inbox' tab there is one check-box - 'Forse SSL Off'.
Maybe you know exactly what changings in Window's registry makes this check-box? In other words - I want to make the same changing in Window's registry without using Tweaks2K2.
Thank you! And kind regards to this great Forum!
Make all registry export before you change 'Forse SSL Off' & after it, then compare both files on PC. Find out & tell to us where!!!
Nice reply! ;-)
But something tells me that I don't want to make any Hard Reset, because I have done all settings using Tweaks2K2. I only want to know what did it change!
Maybe you can make the procedure you've mentioned and make all of us happy?? ;-)
Nick2001, it's written right there in front of you.
HKLM>Software>Microsoft>Inbox> ForceOffSSL (Bool Dword)
V
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox]
"ForceOffSSL"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox]

I did with total commander compare files, my recipe above
Thank you!
Hi Guys,
I just got my Jamin a few days ago and have hard reset it more times than I care to remember. There are a few things that irritate me that hopefully you guys can clear up for me.
Firstly, how do I switch off the recent programs section of the start menu?
Also, how do I clear recent searches and Terminal Service information?
Thanks,
DB
Ok... so this might not be the most complex of questions for you guys to answer... but someone MUST know... And the same for the dictionary... where's that located?
Both entries are in the registry. Both require you to perform a reset afterwards. You can not turn off the recently used programs list (stupid M$, I know!) but you can clear it. Attached is a CAB file that should clear the recently used list (make sure it is read only so it doesn't get deleted after you run it). It is meant for WM2003SE but I think it should work for WM5; you may just have to change the Max OS Version using WinCE CAB Manager. For the Terminal Services Client list, you will have to search the registry fo the IP/server name and then delete it manually.
cya
Thanks Mate,
I appreciate the help
What app do I use to regedit? Obviously Start >Run - regedt32 doesn't work! haha
EDIT: Call me blind... but where's the attachment!? Haha
Yea, good point where is the attachment? This is the 2nd time this is happening to me on this forums in one day! The file upload keeps timing out, so I'm just going to tell you the Registry change you have to make and you will have to use WinCE CAB Manager to make your own cab file:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TaskSwitch]
"0"=""
"1"=""
"10"=""
"11"=""
"2"=""
"3"=""
"4"=""
"5"=""
"6"=""
"7"=""
"8"=""
"9"=""
Use PHM Registry Editor or trial version of Resco Explorer 2005. Both should be on Pocketgear.com or try google. Depending on your Registry editor you may have to exclude the speech marks.
Hope it helps
VJEschaton has a command line to clear the recent menu. However, the OS still requires you to soft reset. Defeats the point IMHO.

Thanks alot for this, I wasn't keen on the other 1 but this is perfect! Good work!
it looks nice
I like your choice of items a bit more
Thanks!
well done
really usefull
Cheers! Good to see you people like it.
If there's anything you'd like to see improved, post it and I'll consider the good ideas.
edit: opps. i just realised i was posting this here should have been in the original thread...ohh well. mods feel free to delete this
----------------------------------------------------
i like it a lot as it is but there are a number of things you might want to consider:
1-i think an extra raw of apps can be added while keeping the the finger friendliness.
2- make it startable as an executable or soft key from tf3d hoome or button
3- option for discovravle mode blutooth
4- make it easy to change default apps
ohh btw, why is it relatively big 1.6mb for an app starter. can it be redused? mabe change the color depth or something
It's mostly the skin. The original application uses a sucky compression. There's no way I can reduce it and to me, 1.6mb is squat.
"Shutdown" gives an error (it didn't with smaberg's):
"Couldn't find PowerOFFLNK.lnk or PowerOFFEXE.exe"
Also "Calculator" gives the waiting icon and then nothing - I probably either have to edit the shortcut to windows default calculator or find HTC calculator from somewhere... Any ideas where to get the one that works with this setup?
Is the editing of application paths the same as with smaberg's? BIOTOUCH etc?
I actually like this one more then smabergs one, but it still isn`t perfect. Would it be possible to create a setup tool which would allow you to edit all the buttons?
I can`t imagine it being too hard since it`s just a few reg changes you would have to make?
//edit: I would love to make it myself but I guess it would take ages (at least, maybe longer) before I would be done.
However, if anyone knows the command you have to pass to the text client to automatically start the message for a certain person I would be more then pleased .

I'll fix it in 1.1.
And yes, the calculator points to HTCCalculator. As this is based on smaberg's app, the paths are edited the same way.
You can download the HTCcalculator from this forum.

Creating that setup tool would take me longer than it would take you (and everyone else) to find out how to edit it.
Also, you'd only be able to edit the execute paths, not the icons (skin).
And I don't know the parameter for a certain person (even if it's possible).
*** EDIT ***
Updated to 1.1.

True. That`s why I`m editing it right now.
I want to make a cab of it cause I reinstall allot!
But I have a little problem creating a new cab.
I used a cab extractor to get all the files out, but what did you use to create the cab itself?
I used several tools but they all fail to install..
Thanks in advance for the help, I really appreciate it.
//edit: I managed to create a cab, actionscreens rock
Great. Thanks for 1.1.
I found the HTC Calculator and now everything not only looks great but also works
I actually managed to create a cab. Furthermore, I was able to make a shortcut for a sms contact (well technically it`s a number, but it stands for a contact)
The shortcut should be to tmail.exe and its parameters are:
Code:
-service """sms""" -to """the number"""

Hehe, nice one. Making cabs isn't hard, just use WINCE cab mgr.
great app and good things added to smabergs port
but i think with this u can do so much more.
beginning with the skin. the shadowsong skin doesnt fit on any x1 and the manila skin is boring for me.
i really like to give a contribution to this app in form of a new skin/design
but i dont know how to do it. can u pack all the image files in 1 rar and upload it here so i can modify them?
thnx in advance
(oh and sry for bad english...)
just a word of advice to all who use this app.. I have american x1a and used phone (babied) it was pwerfect, until i tried to take battery cover off and inadvetantly put a finger on the power button while leveraging it off. my power btton sunk in and jammed, staying with no way of extracting. cost me 185 to repair via sony, they formatted my phone and were less than helpful... DONT ABUSE UR POWER BUTTON! IT MAY JAM!

I vote +1 for "funniest post in the X1 forum". xD
Oh, and Kid_DC, the shadowsong skin fits perfectly with my TF3D shadowsong theme
I know what you mean though. I've already improved the black skin a bit.
The skin files are installed to your \windows\AnX1\Actionscreen folder, they're .brn files. You can find a converter brm <-> bmp here on xda.
and why do u use brm, when u first have to convert them?
are they smaller?
I'm sure most of you know how to get this done already. But this is a new forum and bound to be new people dropping by. For those of you who are still trying to figure this out...
I've found that Advanced Config tends to mess a few things up on our phones as not all the key's are the same as HTC phones.. (if u are looking for a tweaking program woodhole from lg-expo.com has put together quite a few good tweaks.. i'm still hoping he'll cross post a link here you all can check it out)
so to manually edit your registry you'll need a program for that:
Total Commander works great for me and my needs
However, LG was nice enough to provide a reg editor but doesn't seem to be as user friendly. it's called TascalRegEdit.exe and can be found in the /windows directory
in registry navigate to HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\INBOX\SETTINGS\SMSNoSentMsg
change the value from 0 to 1
reboot.
cheers

HLKM? o really? hehe...
here i made a cab for everyone
Can't get sms sent notification to turn off.
I feel so defeated.
I've tried three ways to kill the Sent Notification:
1. Change the registry manually (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings).
2. Install juggernaut's cab
3. Replace the HTCMessageSent.exe file, per ookba. (Original file is read-only and can't be deleted).
I've got a Verizon HTC Ozone and the only mod that I've made is to install the new rom that updates to WM6.5 from HTC's site.
That damned SMS sent notification is killing me!!
Is my device ignoring me?
There could be something in the registry that is preventing you from killing it. For the IQ users there was a reg in the LG Idles (UI from LG) that was preventing it. Perhaps HTC has something similar in their UI.
what device u on anderson?
