I have one big issue with my phone,
and that if I start up the phone especially if I use sport or burst mode the camera doen't shut down,
I then get loads of artifacts over the display, I have to do a soft reset,
I'm guessing this is the reason it wasn't enabled by default.
Just wondering if its just me or if anyone has the same issue.?

Hi to you all, sorry if this thread has already been here (searched but found nothing) but I got a minor problem with camera. I installed Montecristoff HTC Tweek v0.5.4 and went to camera setting what i did is that I enabled Burst mode and Sport mode (whatever its called) set the quality to 3Mpx and after that I did soft reset. Fine everything working but than I started camera and when I activated the burst mode or sport mode it just pops up window which states that system registered failur of camera.exe. And i have to restart the device so that camera starts to work. When I use just the default camera everything works fine but when I use those two modes that are not set in default mode than the camera aplication shuts down. Im using ROM 1.14.479.3 (official one). Thanks for your help
Were you able to figure this out? I'm having a similar problem now but the camera won't fully boot after trying out the sport/burst mode. I'm on dutty's 3.9xt. I'd like to avoid a hard reset if possible.
[edit] nvm, found solution
Hi Everyone,
I am actually probably 1/100 who actually likes the camera button on the vogue, because of the quick access to the camera. Despite constant accidental pressing, I still leave the button enabled so I can snap parking stall ID numbers when parking around town (www.parkplus.ca).
My problem is that usually I hit the button by accident, and the camera settings change to the crappy portrait mode instead of 2mp.
Is there any way to kill all the other camera modes, and just have it set to 2mp no matter what?
Thanks!
is it supposed to be fast when it starts the animated portion, or sluggish. Mines is like choppy at isnt it suppose to be smooth to show off the processor speed?
Also how do i get the landscape view on my phone, i seen some screen shots, and it was landscape, but i turn my phone and nothing.
Also i noticed this just right now, i used the bar code scanner to scan some ****, and i heard a weird noise come from the phone. Like a rattle or something loose, but i shake the phone and nothing. Is that the camera just working?

The rattle noise is the autofocus of the camera. IT IS NORMAL when you are using a camera application.
The start up animation is pretty choppy (it was fast on first boot) its pretty normal because the CPU is working to load the Android OS. As for landscape, it doesnt rotate on the home screen. It should however rotate everywhere else, but only if you turn it to the left (volume buttons facing downwards). If that doesnt work you have a problem. Try restarting the phone if that doesnt work you probably should call HTC.
My start up logo is choppy at first then it gets smooth.
Make sure also you have auto-rotate turned on in Settings>Sound and Display>Orientation
Hello,
Anyone having an issue with their camera suddenly not working? Specifically, the camera will suddenly stop responding to the shutter button. I see the button "glowing" when I press it, but the camera will not snap the picture. It does this no matter what setting I choose. Even if I force close the app, it will continue doing the same thing. The solution is to reboot the entire phone to get it working again.
I have another Nexus 4 which I bought for my gf and she had the same exact issue. This was happening all last night (Thanksgiving dinner) trying to take family photos. To make matters worse, the issue first appeared when I handed my phone to my friend who has an iPhone. He immediately laughed on how it could not even do a simple task. lol
I am wondering if it was due to a low light condition and somehow caused a bug as I have been unable to reproduce the issue since this morning on both phones. Even when the flash was manually set to on, you can tap the screen which turns on the flash momentarily; however, when this issue was occuring, the flash LED would remain lit until I manually closed the app.
So I was using my phone yesterday to take pictures of my computer. I tried on two occasions to touch and zoom in on an area (which worked fine) but as soon as I press the shutter button to take the picture, the phone would make a weird noise (seems to be coming from the lens?) then it just freezes. It eventually took the picture after the reset.
I have to hold my power button to get it to fully reset. Then this morning I noticed that my clock and date were all messed up.. set back to 1970 and time was reset.
Anyone else experienced this before? Nothing else is wrong with the phone but I'm not sure if this would be a software or hardware issue.
Thanks.
Yeah Ive had the camera app lock up a few times. Shutter button does nothing (didnt notice any sounds as I was outdoors), closing the camera app does not fix it, full restart is necesary but my clock worked fine at boot. Ive also had an issue where if you touch to focus and then swipe to see the gallery then the LED flash will stay lit indefinetly, forcing you to go back to the camera app and re-focus.
What rom / kernel are you guys using ?
Not sure if this is related but I've had the camera refuse to take pictures a lot, especially in low light - the camera cannot seem to focus so hitting the shutter button does nothing. I find switching to another mode (video for example) and then back again sometimes cures it. I've also had it lock up and leave the flash on. I'm surprised this got through testing as it seems quite a common issue from other N4 users I've spoken to.

+1 same problems here.

Same issue here too - just received mine 2 days ago and I sometimes need to change the camera to video mode then back to picture mode for it to be able to take pictures again.
Pure vanilla phone here, no custom kernels or any roms of any kind.. hell my phone isn't even rooted.. lol.
I've just started to notice that since I've been trying to take more pics with my phone lately.
And yes I've been seeing issues with the camera not wanting to take shots or focus properly either.
Same issues yesterday i was taking pics of my x-mas tree and gifts, suddenly the camera wouldn't focus anymore, had to restart the camera app, also auto focus is really not functioning too well... It can't seem to lock when focused on a subject...
