Well I upgraded to DCD 3.2.4 and 3.42.50 radio rom. For some reason now I cannot get a connection through WiFi , it gives me errors such as: Cannot obtain a server assigned IP address. Try again later or enter and ip address in network settings. It also says it cannot connect to the network at times.
I am on the Verizon Wireless network. Thank you in advance for your help.
I started up WMWifiRouter after it not working the first time I installed it. I was was able to connect to a network but when I put up googlemaps or internet explorer the phone acts if im not even connected to the internet.

Hello,
Well I hope I'm putting this post in the right place, if not please move it. I have a 8525 with cingular. I need vpn access for my office connection from my laptop. We use a Fortiwifi 60 with the Forticlient software for VPN access. I used it with the old wireless modem settings on my 8525 and it worked with both wap. and isp. I recently upgraded to the new offical rom and used it fine (without trying the VPN access) for a few weeks. I went on my first trip last week and could not connect to the vpn. It would verify PSK and X-AUTH but fails to pull an ip address. I tried it with a static ip and it failed as well. When I check my connection monitor it shows no data coming back from my vpn gateway. I tried it on the hotel's internet and it works fine. I also tried another wifi signal and it worked as well. I changed the media net settings to go through isp instead of wap but that didn't help. Does anyone else have this problem with there VPN settings? I wonder if it is the new type of connection sharing or a change to the Cingualr network? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I had the same problem with another IPsec client with this ROM. For some reason I could not get Internet Connection sharing to work when connected via USB. Bluetooth pan worked. The VPN client was not binding to the ICS/usb adapter. I have since upgraded to WM6...Sleuths ROM...and USB/ICS now works.
Well I tried the phone on another computer and the vpn works just fine. I guess it's something on that computer. Anyone have any ideas? I'm going to try reinstalling the virtual adapter in hopes that it is a binding issue (thanks to tco for that). I'll let you know if I figure it out.
Hey Guys....I'm new to this forum, and it's already been a great help to keep my wizard going!
I have a new problem, that I'm not sure how to approach...I'm using IPL/SPL 3.08 + 2.71 Radio on the T-Mobile version of 5. (I'm at&T tho...)
Whenever I try to wi-fi into my home network, it finds my network, and tries to connect, but never gets an IP address assigned to it. I know it's not a hardware issue, because I've connected to other networks in the past.
I'm pretty sure there's a configuration problem some where (I'm using WPA security, but I couldn't connect even when the wireless was wide open) but I don't know if the configuration problem is on my router or on my phone. Any ideas??
Thanks for the awesome forum!!
Can you get hold of a laptop or another wireless device and see if this connects to your kit at home?
If it does then you know you have a problem with the phone, if not then it's the wireless router.
Yeah, I have a couple other wireless devices that connect wirelessly to the network already + I connected my phone to my parent's wireless a few hours ago...so it's gotta be the router, but I don't know what I have to change. Any ideas?
I myself have the same problem, I can connect, and MAYBE look at one or two pages, my phone then loses the IP and never re-leases it from the router....I aswell have other wireless devices that connect fine(such as this laptop that im typing this on lol)
Phone specs:
Cingular 8125
TNT 6.1 Pro/with TouchFREE
IPL/SPL 2.26.olip
SIM Unlocked
I have the same problem. phone connects and gets an IP but as soon as i try to go on the Internet, it stops working and then eventually tries to dial a connection.
I wonder if a static IP address would work for these issues?
Could you update the phone's Wifi profile for your router to a static address instead of a DHCP address then configure the router not to lease the phone's IP address to any other device.
any idea where to set static IP/DHCP on the wizard running 5.1?
I have a non branded TyTn, running on Schap's 4.31 ROM.
Now, this is the problem.
My TyTn locates a WiFI ntework and connects onto it.
Then, I start IE and try to load a page. But, in the progress bar stands ''Locating'' for some time and then it says ''Cannot locate the page. Try again later.''
And any other app using internet connection won't load. Like, Airscanner AntiVirus when I try to update.
I've tried loads of sonnection settings combinations, like, selecting My ISP, My Work network for ''Apps that connect to Internet should connect using''
Could anyone give me a fair solution or at least could someone who has got his IE to work to write down his connetion settings for me to try.
I am getting desperate, since the main reason for buying a TyTN was WiFI.
Someone suggested that I select My ISP, but there's catch: when enter to edit the My ISP, under the tab 'Modem' there is not a single connection listed even when I'm hooked up on a WIFI network. Should there be something in that list? Maybe that's the issue.
And in >start>settings>connestions there is no Network cards icon at all.
PLEASE, ANYONE!
depend on your network really
if you can check if gateway and dns are the same as
on your computer
and of cause if you are not getting your internet from the router
but from internet sharing your gateway could be required to be set
manualy to the computer sharing the internet
The problem is that it happens even on a wifi free spot, not only my home network.
How to setup gateway and dns on the phone?
One question: under My ISP, tab Modem, does any of you have listed the wireless modem of your device? I have absoluetly no modems listed there, maybe that's causing the problem. And when I try to add one, it offers me only Bluetooth, cell line, Cell line( GPRS, 3G), IrDA, Haynes compatible on COM1; no TIACXWLN1, which is the name for the wireless modem on TyTN.
Maybe, a different Radio ROM upgrade would help? Could it be the radio ROM?
My radio version is 1.48.00.10
I had the same problem as yours previously on my other PDAs and Smartphone.
I simply hard-reset the device or re-flash a ROM
Start> Programs> Proxy Manager
Disable your provider... Give that a go...
Before and after the recent TMOUS ROM upgrade, I have always been unable to access the internet with the wifi hotspot created by my iPhone as the wifi router, while my laptop and ipod touch could. Are there any special settings I have to do on HD2? Any suggestions? Thanks.
Now I could not even access internet via my hone wifi router - it used to be able to right after the ROM upgrade last hight...
Have you checked your wifi settings, you may have to re-configure your HD2 to your network.
I have updated my ROM to 2.13 but didn't encounter this issue.
Yes I did check the wireless controls (comm manager) for connections many times and showed clearly it was connected to my home wifi router network; but it just could not access internet ("Error! Connection closed by remote server"). I must have missed something in configuring wifi settings properly... Would you be kind enough to show how/what to re-config the wifi settings to access internet? My other mobile devices could access internet via the same home wifi router without having to re-config anything...
I figured out the problem
I noticed that the wifi IP address for my HD2 was completely different from those of my other mobile devices on the same home wifi router, so it dawned to me that I might have inadvertently put it on a different wifi network. I decided to re-flash the new TMOUS ROM (2.13) upgrade, and go through the wifi setup again more carefully. It turned out that last time when the setup asked me if I would use "TLS" wireless network for authentication, I tapped the "wireless network" button - although I should have ignored it and tapped the "next" button instead, which I did this time. Now I could access internet via my home wifi router, as well as via the wifi hotspot created by my other mobile device. So the problem is considered SOLVED.
Hope this post is helpful for those who might be experiencing similar problem as I have been.
or maybe your phone felt insulted you were trying to connect it to the internet via an inferior children's phone (iPh#$% - sorry no cursing allowed) and just said no. i bet if you tried using your PC (not M*C) as a hotspot, or a dlink (lol) you hd2 would connect perfectly.
ps: dlink is about the worst router out there
Phone is connecting and receiving an IP and strong signal no problem, but can't get any type of internet to connect (imo/opera/market/facebook app etc...) there's no proxy or password... Notebook and other computers are using the network fine.
Any suggestions?
nm.. got it.. had to set DNS in wifi -> advanced.
you can ask for help to the sellers.
Check on the router, whether your phone is correctly connected. Try to download from the market some wifi software, that gives more information about connection - i. e. Wifi Manager.
Do you use official firmware or a custom one?
The DNS information should have been provided as part of the DHCP request.
Any firewalls?
Does the phone work on other wifi networks?
