Auto charger - Touch HD General

Hi,
I have recently bought the attached auto charger. The seller told me that he used it for all previous HTC, and it's no problem, just that I shouldn't use the auto charger to charge continuosly my HTC Touch HD not to damage the battery.
Can you please advice me if I can use it?
I tried to find on the internet some auto chargers but I couldn't find HTC ones.
Thank you

Can you let me know which brands of auto chargers you are using?
I have tried to search for the HTC auto charger to buy it online, but I couldn't find it.

i use the brodit one for the touch HD, i must say, it works like a charm! Easy install, no need to screw in the dash of the car, perfect fit and now no more need to worry about empty battery!

Just like mouki_9 I purchased the Brodit active car holder with bracket.
It set me back in total about 90 Euro's - which is expensive - but it works fine and it looks great in the car also. No screwdriver needed - installed in seconds. I chose the CIG-connector because I change cars every 2 years.
I just wonder how long the tiny USB-connector on the HD will last (mechanically) if I plug-in/plug-out the HD at least twice a day ......

We just see the input, not the output. Everything about 4,5V to 5,5V with about 1 ampere should be fine.

If you do it correctly it will last long enough .

You're right, but that's all that's written on it.

me and my universal had an accident/coaxial cable ?

hi,
some time ago had car accident and my universal was my sat nav at that point. since it was a serious thing (my car is scraped in germany now ) my uni got demaged. i lost battery and back cocer but all the rest looked OK untis i switched it on. i mean when it does switch on the screen is white and that is all it does. i think the rest is ok cos i can hear some voices made by my uni and the leds are working.
i did some research and it maybe due to the coaxial cable. so i took my uni apart , localized the cable but it seems ok..i mean how do i know if it is its fault ?? if anybady gat a spare one or other sugestions then i am always willing to hear some. the cable costs around 70 GBP so i am not sure if i want to heve a go
cheers,
cudo
Are you sure?
Coaxial Cable? What would it be doing inside a cellphone?
Those are used to transmit TV signals, since they are shielded against radio-frequency interference. Plus they are about as thick as the Uni's base, and very rigid.
Are you sure you read it right?(No offense meant...)
hi, thank you for your wisdom mate but i am sure. try searching "coaxial cable" and you will learn something new....
can someone tell me if the white screen of my uni is caused by this cable or there may be other cause of this problem. after i took it apart and took out the cable it looks as if it is OK. i mean it is not broken or snatched...
advice please !

I've seen posts about the white screen before on here. It seems to happen when people drop them too. Since it has received a strong 'shock' in the car accident, I'd look up posts on dropped phones. Try a search on stuff like 'dopped' + 'white screen'. Hope you can fix it. There are also posts about very cheap repairs being done at local phone repair centers.
Good luck.
Try these for starters - the first one asks a guy who dropped his phone if he can still see inside it on active sync - if so it looks like a screen connector problem:

All right, all right, mea culpa...
Up till now, I thought that was what coaxial cable meant. I didn't know the screen connector was called coaxial too.
So, once again, sorry for posting without knowing...
hi, i am happy now - i took my uni all apart then put it all together acording to mannual and what i have read after c.a hour of strugling with uni i managed to put the batter in and switch the uni on and ...it strarts up normally , no white screen ...everything seems to be alright now. i think it was caused by lose contection of cables and fortunately not the 70 quid coaxial cable itself ...
cheers,

Great news! I bet you're happy. I would be. It seems that strong shocks like being dropped (or being in a car crash mounted on the dashboard) can shock the thing so that the cables become slightly disconnected. Well done for fixing it.
Reading this forum lets me know what I'm in for when I drop mine... It is bound to happen sooner or later. At the moment, I'm keeping a very tight grip on it.

does this cradle exist?

I am looking for a desktop cradle that will hold the Tilt upright that charges and has 3.5mm out on it.
google and you'll find
Hi :
how about this cradle
http://www.boxwave.com/products/desktopcradle/htc-kaiser-desktop-cradle_2642.htm
2 out of 3 is good, but no dice. There is no 3.5mm out.
just buy a 3 in 1 to plug into the back of that charger and job done
Well, you could always use a standard Arkon windshield mount except mount it on your desktop. Then run the multiplug out of the bottom.
I would also think about two other options....
One, contact boxwave... they are pretty good about stuff like this...
Two, spend your money instead on a pair of Motorola S9 bluetooth headphones and listen to your Tilt via bluetooth... with the added benny of being able to answer your phone when it rings.
If you can get the site to work, Seidio online has one that I think will fit your need. Sync/charging plug and a 3.5 mm audio plug. I think it's US$29.95.

I tried the one from Seido and returned it. It is a generic base that is supposed to work for multiple phones and my Tilt did not sit in it well. The bottom left side of my phone did not touch the base when the phone was vertical in the charger so unless I put something under it to fill the gap the phone would Tilt to the left probably bending the USB connection.
That's good to know, I was contemplating one. I think now I will take my 3-in-one USB connector and some modeling compound and create my own.
Fund with arts and crafts. I'll let you know how it goes.
I am using the same 3 in 1 like this one >>>http://www.boxwave.com/products/desktopcradle/htc-kaiser-desktop-cradle_2642.htm
I found it on ebay with a battery for less $$ about 6 months ago.
I saw that too, the difficulty I run into is that I use a form fitting case with a belt clip stud on the back. That means that all of the "device only" cradles, like what was in the prior message, won't work. I was thinking about the Seidio because it allowed for a skin case. Now that I hear it isnt very useful, I must consider other alternatives. Has anyone had success with the Seidio cradle?
Like I mentioned, my other alternative is to make my own by form fitting some sort of modeling compound around my Kaiser with case, then embedding the 3-in-1 cable in the compound at the right angle to fit the connector, then forming it to the correct angle. Sounds like a weekend project, now I just need to find the right material to do so. Hmmmmm.

horizontal desktop cradle

Has anyone seen a horizontal desktop cradle for the raphael? Essentially something that would allow the keyboard to stay open.
Thanks,
d

Yea I wouldn't recommend this one. I bought one since I figured the $10 was an acceptable risk. Fuze was a VERY tight fit with my Bodyguardz installed. The rotate was cool but less useful than I thought. 2 days later my Fuze stopped being recognized while sitting in the cradle. I've spent more for stupider stuff so I'm over it. Time to order a new cradle. Something more conventional this time.
Mine
I had a cradle laying around from my 8125. I just had to rework the plug due to different orientation. It works great when I use it because I like to keep keyboard open. Will post a pic later.
How about this?

Why not buy a cheapie $5. windsheild car mount. They swivel, adjust angle, work with an open or closed device. You can use your wall charger or sync cable and even mount it up out of the way, like on the side of your computer!
I have extended battery and the phone stays on the side with screen slided out and usb cable connected. No need for cradle at all.

My HD2 hardware mod- Wireless charing

I used a pixi charging back case (5.99usd) and touchstone charging base (9.99usd) to create this mod. You can find them on clearance at radioshack!
Can be made for other devices: ipods, iphones, bluetooth headset, etc...
Comment plz.

Maybe some photos and more descriptions?
Im curious how this looks/working.
sure interesting, and most valuable as a proof-of-concept realization, even if I'de never go out with a setup like that
Hey, why do you use this microUSB port?
There's one marvelous thing about our HD2 : the dual-backplate setup
-> Use the golden plated contacts right next to the sim card.
They're used for the "old/weird" special car back-plate in order to make contact via the magnetic holder (aka the "original" car kit)
This way u'll be able to mod a plastic back plate with all the mechanism integrated, you just have to "make" two pins (and understand how the third middle one works) that connects to the HD2 motherboard
Hope that helps But i'm sure our HD2 will be the only one who will survive the wireless charging mod without too much trouble vs unibody etc
Nice
Yeah it looks nice but i don't think anybody is siriously going to use this do you??
Wy doing all this effort for making while you just can plug your charging cable in??
Anyways nice work. Good that people are trying to improve the phones usability.

oh I bet he's had a lot of fun doing it That alone is more than enough of a reason
I tried doing something like this a little while back, the connectors next to the sim card can be used for charging which would make the whole thing much nicer and easier, it worked good, but the HD2 metal door blocked the signal so it would not charge, so I used it with a sillicon case on top, it was good but not the best, then I tried to hard wire it inside, opened the HD2, it got few dust specs behind the LCD from opening, I tried blowing them away and the whole screen died, well it was a sad story which eventually ended up on ebay, and I had to get a different one I WILL NOT TRY THIS AGAIN, i hope.
thats good of you to try. hope you find a compatible plastic back for it or some other solution.
ill be looking forward to your progress on this as i have a palm pre and an extra touchstone charger.

The car kit's replacement back is also metal. But I will look into those 3 pins in back. Anyone know what they do exactly?

they activate the navi-panel and charge your phone at the same time. Do they have the navi-panel for the TMOUS version? I'm not really sure, but yea, if you're able to use the 3 pins inside, then it'll free up your micro usb connector.

I actually was fooling around with a microusb charging head and found that if you ground one of the data wires, the navpanel will show up. I was a little confused at first since I've never used it before then figured out it was a hidden feature.

Touch screen going wild when charging

Hello guys, my touchscreen going crazy whenever I'm charging the phone.
Doesn't receive input half of the time. No matter which charger / rom / kernel I try with, problem still there.
The weird thing is, it doesn't happens whenever I'm in TWRP.
Anybody knows the problem? making me charge the phone only at night...

I'm betting that your digitizer is going bad - mine did similar things, then parts of the touch screen stopped responding - had to reset the touch screen several times (cat /sys/devices/virtual/input/lge_touch/f54 seemed to work for some duration of time). I eventually (as of yesterday) replaced the LCD/digitizer and it now works correctly (apart from the fact that I screwed up the new screen, that is).
I would try to open back cover and attach digitizer connector cable properly (next to Jack connector). This worked for me, when I had same problem

Ive attached the image. on the black shield, i added extra tape to hold digitizer connector in place. Firstly make sure that connector is pressed in place properly.
I also glued down the left end of mainboard, so it couldnt wiggle anymore. Hope this helps... Id did for me!
well..... tried it... didn't help :/ but... here's one thing that looks weird to me: when i'm on jb - no problems. when i'm up to kitkat - the problem is back
WTF is GOING ON?!? also knock-on is gone now... brb throwing my phone on the wall
