backlight dimmer - P3600 General

Hi all,
I am looking for a program that turns of backlight while speaking on the phone, by dimming it once you answer the call. This would save lot of battery for those speaking on the phone alot. I know that I can change the turn off timer from settings menu, but I don't wan to do that as it applies to all functions.
Just need an additional software that can manage the backlight while speaking on the phone.
Thnx

Backlight is always ON?

When backlight goes OFF (after certain perion of inactivity) it is still little bit ON. It is not visible during daylight (because backlight is very low), but visible in dark room. Why? How to fix?

I do not want to use PowerOFF option for some resons (for example some alarms are not able to work after long period of powerOff state. With my old Imate jam backlight turned comletely OFF, but with Atom - no.
Sorry answering in English, because many readers are not Russians
No problem! So, all alarms and notifications must working from the power off mode.
But still I wonder:
1. Is it normal, that backlight is always little bit ON (visible only in dark room)? Or I need to go to the service?
2. If it is normal - is there any posibility to turn backlight off (via registry etc)?

Backlight woes

Hi,
I'm trying find out what reg key is used for setting the backlight off level.
At the moment, after the 30 second timeout, the backlight is set to dim (1) - what I want is to make it completely shut off, without turning off the display.
Before I get told to search the forums, there are a few threads and certainly one or two have already asked, but none have a solution.
I've tried setting various levels such as under HKCU\control panel\backlight - i was thinking that onoff or extonoff may do what i want, but to no avail after a soft reset
Any ideas?

Dunno about what reg key this effects, but it sounds like you're looking for the timeout settings as opposed to the backlight settings.
This can be found in the control panel, under power -> advanced, and here you can set how long it takes to hibernate the device.
Not sure if you still need the reg. settings, but it might help to know that backlight entries are probably the wrong place to be poking!
What's the model of your device?
Some manufacturers like to go proprietary, eg. ASUS, in which case, you will need IDA and hack your way through.
HTC 3300 with either WM5 or 6 - it's not timeout settings or whatever, even if i set the backlight to as low as possible within the OS, it is always slightly on.
It appears the OS sets the BKL value from 1 to 4, 1 being dim, 4 being max brightness.
I can get it to turn off by setting the value to 0 manually in the registry and doing a soft reset, but thats not exactly ideal - I just want the device to stay active but without the backlight as thats what uses up most of the power.
my 2 devices, O2 mini and asus P535 allows the display to stay active and the backlight off. this can be achieved using the control panel applets which implies self-developed software can do the same.
so the question is, can your device achieve that state using built-in applets?
if it can't, then it's really a gamble for you to spend time finding a way.
i'm assuming that when you set the registry to 1, your backlight turns on slightly? most devices can't be viewed properly without the backlight, so in my opinion, there's little point in leaving it on without the backlight.
why do you need the display active? perhaps there is a better alternative to reach your goals, eg. LEDs

Your question doesn't really make sense... do you want to know how to keep the backlight on longer, or make it turn off sooner?
Either way, you adjust the backlight in the 'Power' settings page:
Start - Settings - System - Power - Advanced tab...
Turn off backlight if device not used for:

You could always try reading the manual that comes with your phone?

Many thanks and sorry for my english

Honestly I'm deeply grateful for this option!!!
I can always turn on/off the light with powerbutton.
Often I want to put the back light on WITHOUT any change on the screen (like reading ebook when screen-press makes page change). So I just love it how it is.
The problem is that it isnt an option
Actually i do not have a problem with it, i ask here fore smb who has a program, where keeping backlight on doesnt work properly so this option make some problems,
i would love this on fs loox 560, but since xperia cant turn the backlight completely off and i can see everything without turning backlight on and i just dont need it anymore
Thank you two for your replies
Actually you can touch your camera button first to bring the backlight back/prevent backlight fade, then click what you want to do
Hm... It doen't bother me at all. I even like it.

How to turn the screen off automatically when I am in a call?

First of all, I was using PM Recorder and now I use Audio Notes Touch from VITO, to record all my phone calls. It is very useful to have the phone call recorded when somebody gives you an address, a phone number, or a name of a person, you don’t need a pen to write it down.
Now the problem: After the other person answers or you answer and the application starts recording, the backlight of the screen turns on to maximum level of intensity and it stays like this until you finish your phone call. It does not reduce the light level of intensity after a minute or so. When not using the application to record, the light is reduced to minimum level and it stays like this until I hang up. I have found a workaround to press the power button to turn off the whole screen and the light when I am in a call, but sometimes I forget and a lot of battery power is consumed during the call. I have also tried to set the backlight level both on battery and on power to minimum level, but still the recorder application is able to turn the light at maximum level, I don’t know how.
If you want to do a test, set the backlight level on battery and on power to the lowest level, and then start the Voice Commander. You will be surprised, because you will see the backlight to maximum level.
Now the question is: How can we turn the backlight off completely and automatically when in a call? I think the battery consumption is double or maybe triple when in a call and with the backlight turned on to maximum level.
Maybe using S2U2 will help you. Also look at this thread.
I have installed the application.
With the black screen option the screen is black, indeed, but the backlight is still on at maximum power.
How is it possible to put the device into standby when talking instead of black screen? Something similar when I press the power button one.
Thank you.
there is a design flaw that prevent the backlight from turning off when blanking screen..the only solution is to use the backlight controller to turn off the screen.
I am not aware of any ways to put the phone in standby when talking.
If you are using custom rom you can use built-in in-call recording if it is good enough for you
Hello keyx. I tried all the custom roms including yours, I really appreciate your work, but for me the original rom fits the best.
Audio Notes Touch and even S2U2 somehow have a method or triggers a function to detect when a conversation is started.
Is there a possibility to add a script via Mort Script, maybe, to launch the backlight controller when I am on the phone?
I have no idea you would have to try to code that yourself..
Does anybody have an idea how can I trigger a started conversation?
What function or procedure can I call to find this?
Thanks.
Finally I succeded. If anyone interested I will post my solution. Thanks for your answers.

post ahead!
I have created a script with MortScript.
While(1)
If(ProcExists("Audio Notes Touch.exe")=1)
Run("\iPAQ File Store\Program Files\Backlight Controller\WM6_612C_Backlight.lnk")
EndIf
Sleep(10000)
EndWhile

WM6_612C_Backlight.lnk it is a shortcut with the /togglescreen parameter.
I have made a copy for Audio Notes Touch.exe and renamed it to Audio.exe and modified the Start Menu shortcut to point to the Audio.exe. This way I can listen to my recorded phonecalls afterwards.
