remote desktop? - XPERIA X1 General

hi, does anyone know of a free remote desktop program? with file management?... RDM+ is awesome, but is only a 7 day trial... no reg thingy's anywhere for it either. needs to be able to run on vista premium... windos mobile remote desktop etc require business or ultimate editions of vista and don't think it has file management.
best regards,
Joel

Check RealVNC http://www.realvnc.com/products/free/4.1/index.html

You should try some search in forum, there is a link for Remote Desktop for Windows Mobile 6 and Real VNC for Pocket PC somewhere.

App for Remote Access from PC ?

Please help !
I remember that somebody described a software here which can be used to access the mobile device via pc. You get a window on your pc with your device's view and you can control your phone via pc the same way as you could do it directly on the mobile device.
But I simply can't find this software Does anybody remember the name or have a link for me !
TIA!!

Just played with MyMobiler and Pocket Controller pro. Both very cool apps. Is there a app that will allow you to do this without being connected to the computer, kind of like log me in, dont/cant install to cpu, so something that is web based (java)

VNC ?
yes, but i'm talkin about a server on the ppc that i can access on the mac. Tried all of them, only the PocketVNC works... But I can only find the trial that closes after a minute. On the site, can't find a link to buy it! Can't seem to find a working version (no time limit) too.
Have a look at R-HUB remote support servers for remotely accessing your Mobile device from PC and vice versa. It is easy to use and works on all platforms viz Windows, MAC, Android, iOS etc.

Touchpad Pro for Windows Mobile

I saw that it was posted once before with no real answers. My question: Can the program Touchpad Pro be ported to Windows Mobile or can a program be made that has the same functionality. I am willing to pitch some funds to whoever will do it.
These are the links to the demo of Touchpad Pro and their website.

The Touchpad Media Server works similar but doesn't give full control.

No - if you log in to remote desktop on thew phone, you will be logged out on the PC. With this you can work simultaneously on the PC and the phone.
But this program is nothing new - just a VNC client. There are already a few of them available for WM (including some free ones). Just do a google search for windows mobile VNC client.

Okay... Obviously I didn't read that site in enough detail...
With RDP (Standard windows remote desktop) on WinXP, it is actually possible to have more than one person logged in at a time.

Thanks man. I guess I just didn't know what to search for. I'll check them out and see if they do the same thing.
You can also use logmein Basic which is free up to a certain amount of computers. I believe 5 pcs. https://secure.logmein.com/createaccount.asp
LogMeIn is one of the many choiced that one has when deciding on remote access software. LogMeIn Basic is freeware, and allows you to install the client onto a single machine that can be access via the LogMeIn website through a browser. With a small memory footprint, the program does not interfere if you leave it up while you decide to load up a game.
Features
Although the full paid version of LogMeIn automatically allows you to transfer files by dragging, stream audio, network printers, etc, the free version has none of these features. Although there is a free 30 day trial, these features are nice but not necessary for basic remote access needs.
Speed
Bandwidth is a large factor in the speed and refresh of LogMeIn, and although I run fiber optics at home, there is still a small amount of lag between connected clients and the server. Loss of some keystrokes can be a pain if you are a fast typer, but this is no different then Windows Remote Desktop.
But the thing that I really need is for the computer to not be logged out while I am on it. I want the phone to be a touch pad/mouse/remote control for the computer. So any program that logs you out of the PC while you are remotely using it is useless to me and does not do what Touchpad Pro does. Hence why VNC is good.

Logmein does not log you out. You will see it on the screen and it also goes through firewalls.
Gotcha, thanks.

Remote Desktop

Does anyone know where I can install remote desktop on X1? I remember my HTC touch HD came with it. But not on this one.
Remote client ?
Hi.
Do you want to take control of a remote computer ? :
https://www.kckenterprises.com/WM6RDP.cab
or to display the X1 on the computer?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...7AA-AB28-6A2B006EDFE9&displaylang=en#filelist
This is for 2003 but you can follow this method , that works for me.
1. Install Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys.
2. Copy C:\Program Files\Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys\ActiveSync_Remote_Display\devices\wce400\armv4t\cerdisp2.exe and C:\Program Files\Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys\ActiveSync_Remote_Display\devices\wce400\armv4t\KillProc.exe to \Windows on the mobile device.
3. Run ActiveSync Remote Display on the PC and click OK to the error.
4. Choose Yes when the mobile device asks you if you want to run cerdisp.exe

so which one is better of those 2 for controlling PCs? Also read of RemoteTouch and z2 Remote2PC....
so which is the best?
anyone??? any siggestions? none?
Remote Desktop work for me!!
But you do have to know your way around a router or vpn connection!!
I have heard the various remote access client work good.
But you have to run the Host software to establish a connection to Remote Hosting site!
So this can be a hassle for a few of my clients.
But since the Remote desktop is built-in to Window servers and desktop OS's. This makes a bit easier in this area.......
So it just really depends on your needs and uses!

remote desktop ? in home 7 premium

Hi
can I use Remote Desktop on Windows 7 Home?
I followed those steps
http://pocketnow.com/how-to/tutorial-setting-up-remote-desktop-in-windows-mobile
but it didn't work, is this because I am using Windows 7 Home?
Regards,
Remote desktop server is a feature of:
XP Pro
XP Media Centre/Tablet PC (as these are XP Pro)
Vista Business/Enterprise/Ultimate
7 Professional/Enterprise/Ultimate
It is NOT present in XP Home, Vista Home Premium, 7 Home Premium
These "home editions" can however act as a remote desktop CLIENT and connect to a server running one of the above versions.
I'd suggest VNC for you instead.
There is a hack out that apparently works, allowing Remote Desktop HOST capability on Home line. I don't have the link in front of me, since I run Ultimate. I'll have a look once I get home and post a link, unless someone beats me to it.
Thanks Nemeth782
I am looking for this ... sounds as good alternative option
Nighthawk
Even better, if I can have the link ... this would save me time and effort and $$$
http://www.realvnc.com/products/download.html - Server Side
There are freeware viewers/clients such as:
http://freewareppc.com/docs/netvncviewer.shtml
If you were to google "realvnc windows mobile" I'm sure you'd also find some alternatives...
Thanks Nemeth782
I may go for anytime upgrade windows 7 prof .. student price .. this would my best option
I got remote desktop running in Home Premium 64bit using Concurrent_RDP_Win7_RTM_patcher.
Here's a crappy picture:

Remote desktop issue

Why can I not connect remotely if I have windows 7 home premium on my host PC. Please let me know if there are any other free remote desktop solutions for winmobile that will work with win 7 home premium.
http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/p/80044/397067.aspx
Windows Home Premium does not have the HOST version of Remote Desktop only the Client or viewer. You need Windows 7 Ultimate or Professional to have the Host version of Remote Desktop.
Good news is, there is a hack available that allows you to add Remote Desktop Connection Host to Windows Home Premium. Try Googling something like "no RDC in Home Premium" or "no Remote Desktop Connection Home Premium"
