Garmin mobile XT keeps scaning.. - XPERIA X1 General

Hey everyone,,
i just got my X1 hours ago >.>.. i've installed some panels and some other application and more.. I downloaded Garmin mobile XT which as i heard suppose to work with the X1, after installing it, its keep scanning for the GPS device, so i keep seeing this msg in the screen, " Scanning Bluetooth " " Scanning Attached " .. and nothing happen,, does this mean that the GPS in my phone is disabled or what ?

I see that on version 4 too... try updating your garmin to version 5 and it should solve the problem

if your Garmin installation is not a registered version, it'll not use your internal GPS, but will scan for external bluetooth

Garmin has 2 ways of extracting money from you:
The first is for you to buy a Garmin bluetooth GPS receiver - if you do, the software will find it (by default it works only with Garmin devices).
The second is for you to buy a licence that will unlock the software to find any third party GPS device, including built-in receivers.
Either way, you pay Garmin some cash.

wat about cracked Garmin mobile XT >.> ?

you have a garmin with a crack in it, i'd take it back to the shop... unless of course you were publicly admitting copyright theft?

Help : Touch 3 G & Garmin

I found a problem on running Garmin Mobile XT 5.0.2 with Touch 3 G.
It does not show satellite signal at all but is able to navigate to destination.
Quite annoy on this. Anyone know how to fix it.
Use IGO2008, better navigation IMO And works very well on Jade.
I have the same "problem" with tomtom 7. Doesnt show data but works fine for navigating so i dont really care that much.
Have tried IGO 8 already. Feature is very good and better than Garmin but Thailand map for Garmin has more detail and POI.
I think this is a bug of GPS software (Tom Tom & Garmin ) with chipset Qualcomm. Not sure when HTC will launch the patch to fix this

Agreed, happen to me also....u cant see the GPS signal strength but the navigation working great.......
How on earth did people got IGO8 working?, I tried it, but the program looks like its starting but then disappears without any trace.
TT7 also does not show the satgraphs, but without that it does works fine.
I have disabled aGPS btw.
Found the solution now.
Garmin Taiwan just launched GMXT V5.00.00 Asian Version.
Have tested with 3G and it work very well. Also you can modify to your local language (Asian only)

May be you have problems with licenses. Also, if you are using an unoriginal IGO, you have to disable the animations.
Hi Jankos, I also tried it with no luck (8.000 and 8.3.2.6). Can't it be a problem in the sys.txt or data.zip ?
Thanks

Just you need a different license.
Use the license file from 8.3.1 54384.
While installing the 8.3.2.64873, I resolved the issue by using above versions license file.

Try this ... use GPS Intermediate Driver instead of Comm 4.
Garmin Mobile XT 5.00.20W
Hi All,
I had Garmin Mobile XT 4.xx.xx work perfectly on my Touch 3g. But today, I have upgrade Garmin to 5.00.20w but it is not working. It could not detect my internal serial port (com 4). Inteads, it locks to GPS intermediate driver always. What could be the issue? Can anyone help? Thanks.

Tom tom home now working with x1

Hi all latest version of tom tom home is now working with my xperia with tom tom 7 installed, including mapshare and have downloaded over 3000 corrections to my map Didn't change anything it just started connecting.
Hm, TomTom allows free updates for maps? I'm still using TomTom 6 but have never updated the maps before. How do I go about in doing that?
Weird...mine worked from the get go...
sorry.. you mean i can buy tomtom7 for x1 now or?
It seems it's touchy - my TTH (2.5) has never connected.
Wish I could get it to connect, and will try again tonight, because a decent GPS program is hard to come by.
Wayfinder wants to download maps over GPRS which is simply unacceptable. Downloading 185 MB maps over GPRS @ approx 50c-1Eur per MB!! (maploader doesn't see the phone, even though WM Device Center sees it)
Sorry if this is a stupid question but how do you connect to Tomtom Home from within the Tomtom 7 program? I can't see it in any menus.
dont need to just connect x1 to pc with tomtom home running and it will detect it , you dont have to have tomtom 7 running when you connect.

That is if you have lady luck on your side
I agree with the updated version of Tomtom Home I can now connect, and Home can see the phone and SD card. It correctly identifies it as X1i, but won't allow me to buy a map for the device. I'm running 7.910.9185. It can also see the app, free local map and one voice downloaded directly to the device.
On the Tomtom site it also warns "Please note that maps for Navigator 7 are only compatible with devices that have this software pre-installed. Please ensure that you have Navigator 7 installed on your device before purchasing a map. "
...so I'm not really interested in wasting the money unless anyone can verify a method of adding full UK map to an X1 through Home?
Yes wont allow the purchase of maps but if you have the latest map installed already, in allows you to use map share to update the map and adds just under 4000 corrections to your map.
Arrrrrrgh. Still no connection with Tom Tom Home.
I'm running:
R2A0010 UK Generic
TTH: 2.6.1.1549
TT7: 7.910.9185
For those who have it working - what versions are you running?
7.915 9196 tt7
uk map 825 2159
tth 2.6.1.1549
Trying in this thread too, hoping for help...
I've got the same version of TT7 installed on phone, working OK.
But, I can not access my maps bought from TomTom.
They show in TomTom Home (v.2.6), but not downloadable.
TT Home recognizes my xperia, but says it's invalid application installation.
When I asked on an earlier thread I was told I needed install TT7 on SD card, not phone memory. But my installation does not give me any target options...
Sorry for being a noob, but sure hope someone can guide me thru this, going on holiday to the UK monday, would love to have it up and running with maps by then.
If a step by step can be given pls do so, via PM or here.
Thx in advance
when installing tt7 , win mobile gives the option to install on Device (phone) or storage card (SD). Hope that helps.
The version I have also gives me the option for device or SD card.
Finally got TomTom working.. after having actually legally bought the maps, I had to download and crack a pirate copy to be able to use them.
Go figure.
i can't get mapshare to work, it just says mapshare is not supported either for your device or the map you are using. can anyone help with this? i'm using tt7 7.915 9196 and western and central europe maps v815.2034
Im having problem when im loading new poi´s , i have to restart the program after each downloaded poi...
Does anyone else have that problem ?

Problem with Garmin XT on HD2 - turns on bluetooth instead of internal GPS

I installed Garmin XT on my HD2
when I run it, it starts scanning for bluetooth GPS devices and cannot just connect to the internal GPS.
I checked my External GPS setting
All Setting>System>External GPS
GPS Program port: COM4
GPS hardware port: (none) Baud rate:4800
and in Garmin, when I go to
Settings>System>Remote GPS
it turns on my bluetooth and starts scanning bluetooth!
when I click on Disable, it says "Connection allowed to Garmin GPS device only"
Any idea how to fix this problem??

The trial version only allows you to connect it to an official Garmin GPS receiver I believe. Since the HD2's GPS isn't officially a Garmin type one it won't work like that and that's why it's switching on your bluetooth (to try connect to a Garmin GPS).
Solution is to buy the full version.

I run Mobile XT on my Raphael and I don'expect any issues when I receive my HD2. If you purchased your Mobile XT with the external GPS like I did, there are ways to make it work with the internal GPS. You can also run your mapsfrom any SD card you choose. Requires adding some text files to your garmin directory. Do some smart googling.
Problem solved with the full version.
the trial was the problem.
Thanks for your help guys

I am glad that you decided to go with "Full Version" and buy it ... though Garmin no longer sells GMXT
It is a shame that Garmin no longer sells the XT version. And we have to look for other ways. cough, cough. I find it much better than iGO and Tom Tom. Just installed the 2011 maps here in the U.S. and I simply love it.

ditto - if you believe me I was (currently) determining what phone to get that can run Garmin XT. That's the only reason I did not go with Android (unlocked version of Nexus One - Incredible or whatever the name is)

GarminXT will work absolutely perfectly on your HD2 with WinMo 6.5.
It really is the best taking into account Garmins maps like Topo's and Marine. You can go from hill to highway to ferry and have a map for all.
I am looking for Garmin for Android, too.

GPS feed back only!!! (No Apps)

what gps software do u currently use on ur HD2......
Copilot Live8 ....
CoPilot8 and loving it!!!
i use iGo8 simply because it doesnt use data when i use it, and it was free.
Great navigation app even told me i was speeding haha
Copilot Live 8, works well and for 29.99 you cant beat the price.

IGO8

Not if you preload the maps.

Co Pilot 8 all the way best value in town

I just installed Igo8 and my gps isnt being detected...any ideas why?
Did u install it properly? let it load completely on its first start?
also i noticed when im in doors the gps doesnt work =/
I am using Garmin and iGO, but there is a problem with iGo, it doesn't report correct info, when it says turn left in 600 feet i am 10 feet away from the actual turn and when i get to the corner it jumps from 600 to 10 feet in seconds, i guess it thinks i have a Ferrari.
Garmin xt all the way!!!!
I use Pharos Ostia. I used it on my Samsung i730 (WM5) and Pharos lets me download whatever maps I need. I used the BT GPS antenna that came with it for my old phone, but since the HD2's GPS comm port is unlocked (unlike i730) I just use the internal antenna.
Pharos Ostia is a great program. I've been using it since '07.
Igo8 is my favorite

I Don't think so,because My SE.X1 runing window 6.5 too , but it can Down load the city map and run good with TOM TOM 7.7.9.10 Navigator
only X2 won't work,I fell so bad,can you tell me how to get the GAMIN.XT APP and North America MAP,and how to Install to X2,Thanks you very much.
Since you ask here and not at Tomtom service I take it you have your reasons.
I have tried to install Tomtom on my X2 without MR1 and MR2 without luck. My previous X1, no problem.
Have you had a look at gpsunderground.com?
I've bought and installed copilot ( http://www.alk.eu.com/ ) and it worked flawlessly at mr1. And it is really cheap but navigation is thereafter. I would barely recommend it, but the GPS connects nice.
If you have a look at supported devices at Tomtom you can clearly see that SE X2 isn't supported. If someone gets it running nicely at our X2 i wouldn't judge people who gets it at places as gpsunderground and similar - but hey, that's just me, it's Tomtoms loss and not ours.
You need "GPS Gate" to get TomTom working on the X2, this has been covered many, many, oh did I mention many? times.

I don’t use GPSGate and TomTom Ver 7.910 works on my X2.
On the X2 – go to Settings/System/External GPS and change GDP9 TO COM8.
Open TomTom and change the GPS Device from Built in GPS receiver to Other NMEA GPS receiver and select COM8.
Make sure you run FASTGPS and download the latest Sat Data.
Hope this helps

I'll give you a hint. NO ONE has TomTom listed as a GPS receiver, so stop looking for it! Go back and read the posts again.
i'm using destinator 7 and igo8 both work great with the X2, you just have to set com port 3 or 4 on your xperia
