Can it be that your HERMES is NET locked? I can't see another reason why it did not work in Vietnam! We are talking here about a QUAD BAND GSM + UMTS/3G device ...
Unlike SIM LOCK a NET LOCKED device accepts any SIM card but lets you use only one particular network. In this case the HERMESUnlocker should do ... !
hey just joined the forum and am very excited to get my hands on this phone. I will be purchasing from asia (hong kong) but am currently residing in Canada which leads to my question:
Will an hd2 purchased from asia be compatable with the 3g and edge network connections available in Canada?
Sorry if the quesion is a repeat.
Thanks
I have the same question, I already buy a HTC touch diamond from asia and the 3G never work in canada. I want to buy a new HTC HD2 but a don't want to have the same problem...
Any information ?
I've tried digging around on my own to figure this out, but I haven't found a solid answer, and I really hope someone will help!
Would I be able to take an unlocked T-Mobile MyTouch 3G to Egypt with me and open up a service plan with Vodafone Egypt for local phone and 3G internet?
I hope the answer is simply yes, but here are a few more specific concerns:
1) Is there a difference between being unlocked from HTC and being unlocked from T-Mobile? Are those two separate things? (The one I am looking at says in the description that the unlock code was received and used from HTC, and I just want to make sure that it is really completely unlocked.)
2) Can I stroll into a Vodafone Egypt store with my unlocked T-Mobile MyTouch 3G and buy a plan for local Egyptian phone and 3G internet? In other words, does Vodafone Egypt require one of their official phones, with the Vodafone logo on the top, for them to treat me like a normal customer? (I am going to be in Egypt working as a teacher for the school year, and I would like to take out a contract just like a normal resident for the year if I can.)
3) Will an unlocked T-Mobile MyTouch 3G function properly on the Vodafone Egypt network? Are there any technical or software differences between the United States MyTouch 3G and the Vodafone Magic that might pose a problem for phone or 3G use?
4) Now I'm getting greedy, but here's one more question: Will any phone that is technically specified to work in Vodafone Egypt's network (proper band frequency, 3G capable) be eligible for a normal local Egyptian phone and 3G plan from Vodafone Egypt as described above? Or will it only work for phones that are specifically listed as part of Vodafone Egypt's current line-up?
Thank you in advance for your help!

1) No difference, it's either SIM locked or it isn't.
2) Yeah you should be able to get a SIM only plan which is meant for any phone. Only thing is they probably wont have the exact apn settings for the Magic (I don't think Voda sell the Magic in egypt), only generic ones but they will still work.
3) Just find out the bands the MT3G and Vodafone Egypt uses...

If t-mobile USA TMOUS it will have red & green coloured end/call keys (eu all white), it will have 1gb phone storage (eu 512mb), it will have 1.2mm extra length in rear cover moulding under buttons/digitizer glass, easiest way to see this is that TMOUS unit headset jack is smooth & flush to back housing, eu version headset jack has slight raised lump in back housing to incorporate it.
Eu & TMOUS hd2 have different bands for 3G, t-mobile usa was using 1700mhz & eu does not cover this band of 3G. have a word with T-Mobile & ask them confirm they still using 1700mhz & if you conclude your HD2 is an eu version then you have your answer ...
mister b would a logic board or antenna from a tmous usa hd2 change it to give 3g bands i hate to give up on it so easily. I discovered i have a eu hd2,

Mainboard of TMOUS does not fit in EU housing & you would want housing as has antenna on it.
Check with T-Mobile to confirm bands before writing it off as I thought they had been updating networks & had some 2100mhz support so worth confirming band status with them.
If indeed still restricted with 1700mhz you would be best selling & getting a tmous hd2 which should be easy in US ...
I've searched almost everywhere but I can find NOTHING.
Where did you buy it? I live in the Netherlands so it has to be possible to ship it to Netherlands.
Thanks
Someone???????????
The international version is exclusive to flipkart. You might find one on eBay, but honestly the China Mobile ones with Android are still as good. I'm currently using a Chinese version on att, but no 4g
