When playing music I often get small breaks during MP3 playback. Half a second of silence or something like that at random times about 5 minutes apart.
It does not matter what player software I use. This problem is also very common among the HTC Diamond users http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412065 .
Do you have the same problem? I bet you do .
strange, ive been using my phone everyday as an mp3 player and i havent heard it skip even once.
Does it lag with every song, or are there specific songs where it lags. Are there any that absolutely never lag? Also what kind of headset do you use for listening?
edit> Also, what ROM are you using?
It is not really a skip, it is just a very short pause. You would not notice it in noisy environment. I tried 320bps, 192 bps, 128bps. Everything the same, lower bps are little bit better. It also helped if I set playback priority to higher (in MortPlayer or CorePlayer), but it did not solve it.
It seems like some higher priority process tries to do something and at that point sound lags.
It does not matter if I use headset or play on speaker.
I have this ROM:
ROM version: 1.40.401.2 (21259)
Radio: 0.27.30.09
Protocol version: 12.27.30.09W
strange very strange, i use my jade about 2h a day as mp3 player and i never have that kind of problem..
i generally use the default player... try with that a tell us it works...
ciao
I have the same problem.. But only when i'm using my bluetooth A2DP headset. Seems to get worse when i "move" my phone quickly, like when i'm running or riding a bike and the phone is in my pocket. I also experience random speedsups after the music skips, like the media player is trying to catch up or something..
I use a bluetooth headset too, and no problems, even when ive got several things running at the same time. Maybe its a ROM problem. I can imagine it being real annoying but its not something all of us have so i would just try to get it fixed or get a new one.
btw my ROM is version 1.40.401.2(21259)
Same problem here!
Please write to HTC about this problem. If they tell you they do not know about this problem, they would LIE, because I did tell them .
I found a way around this: Use Windows Media Player only for playing MP3 files. WMP is a pain, but it works.
From HTC Support center !!!
Dear valued HTC customer, Thank you for contacting our Customer Support Center. We are dedicated to providing you with the best quality service and answering all of your questions and concerns. You recently wrote us about an issue that you have encountered with your Touch 3G. To clarify your issue, you stated that you are experiencing pauses when listening to music on the device. I recommend you synchronise the music on your device by using Windows Media Player 11 on your computer. Also, I recommend you test mp3-files on the device. If this has no effect, I recommend you perform a hard reset as this might be a software issue. A hard reset will delete all data on the device and reinstall Windows Mobile. We recommend you do backup of the data on the device before attempting a hard reset. If you have an encrypted memory card in your device, we advise you turn off encryption before doing a hard reset. To do a hard reset, go to Start - Settings - System tab - Clear storage. Here you will be asked to type 1234 in the box and press Yes. This will start the reinstallation process. If the above steps do not resolve your issue, we invite you to visit the support area on our Web site. Please go to: http://www.htc.com/www/support.aspx Or you can go to: http://www.htc.com/select_country.htm, select your country and then click on the Support tab. Hi
Is music stored on Micro SD card? If yes try storing on internal memory, if OK playing from onboard memory then suggest reformating card. I had performance issues with card when using apps that continually transfering data from card, would get "lag", but browsing card etc. was fine. Formatted as FAT32 in windows using USB card reader and then all OK.
Hey fenikso!
I'm sorry, but I never discovered a problem as per description. Not tested A2DP yet. I always store my music files on sd card, I think like the most of us. Runs perfectly.
I`ve formatted my sd card as the FAT ( not FAT32 ) system. Maybe your solution of the problem?
Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Bump-ti-bump.
Still experiencing this problem. Haven't upgraded to the lastest official rom for the Jade, will try that and see how it goes. With a wired headset, the problem doesn't present itself, so i guess that rules out the micro-sd card inside the phone.
do have exactly the same problem, but reversed. while i was using bluetooth headset, never experienced audio lag. Then BT headset died, bought PortaPro, and here we are... contacted HTC support, told them about, they want me to do hard reset and stuff... when i pointed them to this forum, as this problem seems to be related to many new HTC models, and they did not contacted me since then.
So i listen to music with gaps...

Hi there
I was wondering if anyone has experienced any problems streaming Audio
using the SanDisk Wi-Fi SD Card. The problem I have is that it seems the data/audio stream keeps corrupting , as in the sound keeps clicking ever 3-4 seconds , I have tried this on a number of streaming sites and get the same results , I tried this on my old Ipaq 5450 and the stream is crystal clear no drops at all. The Player i am using is Gplayer which is freeware and works wells , the streaming site i am trying to connect to is
h**p://www.somafm.com ( Great music by the way ) , any help would be greatfully accepted.
Regards
RF
This issue has been around for a while now and it happens on mine as well. It seems this is a defect present on all XDAII's.
I had the same problem when I used gsplayer, works fine with pocket music (with the feature pack, the freeware version doesn't support streaming)
O2 XDA II audio patch
Try installing this. This came from O2 U.K.
Thanks
Many thanks to all who have replied , I have now d/loaded Pocket Music and will try it out when I get home.

Hi,
I am also having the same problems. Its a similar setup ie sandisk sd wifi and wireless broadband router. I have tried installing the audio patch and tried pocket music, but it still skips. Any more ideas?
Steve
try increasing the read file cache (player options, general) I've got mine set at 2 meg, and also in player options, streaming increase the buffer , mines at 128k buffer, 25% prebuffer and 50% after underrun,
Streams fine both of pc via network share and from internet radio.
You will always get some internet staions that "drop out", but i get that on my pc as well so..........
I'm not sure if this can help improve things, but there is a free application called GB-Soft Tweak for WM2K3 Phone Edition that may fix this streaming problem.
I have not test it yet since my brand new socket SD WiFi is on it's way but it's worth a try.
It has an option that reads:
Higher priority for audio media streaming -> eliminate clicks (till after soft reset)
Good luck!

Hey all,
I'm very happy with my Jamin but i've loaded up some MP3's to listen to at work and i'm noticing a 'stuttering' that is occuring during playback.
I thought it was my old SD card, so I bought a new fast (120x) one - no change though.
It is the SD card though, if I copy over an MP3 to device memory the stuttering doesn't occur.
It does the same thing with WMP10, TCPMP, Mortplayer - including using pre-buffer, but still does the same thing - stutters for about a second.
I can't find anyone having the same problem here, but there has been a problem posted on the imate site (no solution of course)
Anyone had this and found a work around? it's _really_ irritating.
Thanks,
Craig.
I have previously posted a problem that I encountered with MP10 - it looses the storage data card.
I reported this to HTC Support Europe and this is their reply:
"Regarding your issue with Media Player not reading mp3's from a storage card, I have spoken to Dan about it and we are aware of this issue, and it will be fixed in the first ROM update we release. Our technical team are working on it at present, however we do not have a release date as of yet."
What amazes me is that they are aware of all the problems on the TyTn and similar brands and yet they continue to sell them!
The TyTN brand will be launched in South Africa soon for the first time. Boy will they blow it if the device is problematic!
Thanks Pof for directing me to a temporary fix.
Does anyone else have the bug/problem where if they try to assign buttons it doesn't work properly? Instead of what you'd expect, pressing the button goes to the program as if you were in the today screen!

I have been looking into this for about 3 weeks and I am now 95% sure it is because the storage card is full when WMPlayer tries to write its DRM / Metadata to the card. It is still a bug but the way to workaround it is to leave some space on the card, i.e. don't fill it full of music. I am trialling WMplayer 11 Beta on the PC and it has an option to leave some space free when syncing. Seems to be working fine. If like me, this 'feature' is one of the most frustrating things about the device then I hope this helps
Media player has a bug
Thanks Daryan, I'll try your advice. But as you can see HTC admit this is a software failure, and yet the company continues to sell the product!
Otherwise I find the device fine(above average)
The new Media Player 11 is fantastic. I have not found any glitches yet.
WMP Fix
Temp fix until new ROM is to delete MSMETDATA folder on storage card and then run Update Library in WMP on your Tytn.
thanks for the fix
I had switched to pocketmusic because WM10 could never find my storage card. I deleted the folder as mentioned in the previous post as all works well now. Thank you. Anxiously waiting for an updated ROM. Loving my tytn - although I get the annoying screen alignment issue now and then too.

Does the error not keep coming back? It did with my device. I have to admit that since the posting above I have since had the error so the workaround is not good at all. Do you guys sync with WMPlayer to get your music onto the device?
I have had this error twice. Its a bit annoying but only take a sec to delete the folder adn everything is ok again.
I don't sync my music I just add directly to the microsd card with my card reader as it is much faster than using activesync
Hello!
I have a problem with delayed and cut off notifications over my bluetooth hands free device (Parrot MKi 9200). I can experience it on almost every ROM despite ROMs with Tytung's kernels.
Everytime my copilot live 8 says something like "In 500 meters turn left" it takes a little while (maybe one second) for the phone to establish the bluetooth connection to my handsfree device and all i can hear is "..eters turn left". The only ROMs without this issue are those using Tytyng's kernels. They work just perfect. And yes, I know the workarounds like letting the phone play music all the time, but this doesn't work for me, for i listen a lot to the radio or use the SD Card in my Parrot for playing music - so this is not a solution for me.
I tried to find out more about this issue, but all i could figure out was, that this seems to be an android problem. Due to power saving issues Android would close the A2DP connection and reestablish it, once there is a signal comming up. Please correct me if I am wrong on this one.
However, since Tytung figured out, how to get this thing done right it must be also possible on other kernels and smartphones. Is there a way, maybe to change some settings or a working app or some kind of bluetooth drivers, to solve this issue on other ROMs or even other android phones?
Thank you in advance for your help
Don't know of any app, but just by playing blank.mp3 in music player could help you(it holds bluetooth audio connection-stays on all the time)
your sound cuts are because of low power bluetooth mode, try asking kernel dev to disable it?
I have the same problem and it would be nice to have a buffer application which buffers sounds for Bluetooth for a second and transmit them when the connection is active.
Sure it's an old thread... but has anyone tried this?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.turboled.enhancedtts
Should at least fix the problem for the navigation commands...
Thanks, will try it
I have seen this question come up on forums more than once but never with a definite solution.
I upgraded from an S4 to a Note 4 over the last month and all of a sudden, the default music player auto starts when my phone connects to the car radio (the same car I have had the whole time) via bluetooth. I have tried apps like "Bluetooth Connect & Stop Play" but only works like 1 out of 10, I even used a tasker like app "Llama", which seemed to help a little (basically won't override the behavior).
This is such an annoyance since buying the phone that I am considering rooting the thing and disabling the default music player..only thing that makes me hesitate is that I am thinking that whatever the design flaw this is, will just continue when another music app become default...or a custom ROM. Only other option I have is to delete my SD card music location so the player doesn't have any music to play but then whats the point of having the music on the SD card in the first place.
If anyone else have any ideas, I sure would appreciate it.
