G1 can't get data on LongLines (roaming) - G1 General

Hello all, my G1's data doesn't work with the local network called LongLines (NW IA). My wifes Behold has the 20 dollar data plan and is able to use data on this same network. I am able to access data when on other networks. I called tmo and they said it must be in the google servers that is causing the issue. Are there any settings i can change to get data to work? Thanks

Are your APN Settings correct? If you didn't have data then how did you activate it...? Google servers would not cause the issue. Go into settings > wireless controls > mobile networks > access point names and add one for your service provider.

At work I connect to a tmo network. So when i initially signed in thats how i did it. What would the settings be for the APN?

no idea for LongLines...google "LongLines APN Settings"

MediaNet and Wifi screwup

I was foolishly reading on the forums about how to configure MediaNet, and I decided to check my device and see what my settings were (ok, I was poking around where there was really no problem, I'm sure everyone reading this has a similar story...) and now MediaNet and cellular data works fine, but my wifi is dorked up. I get good solid connection to the network at home or at the office (I get an IP, etc) but I cannot get a webpage to load, and I can't use an application at work that is wireless (a dictation program).
I have tried to put everything "back like it was" but of course I do not have a backup program yet.
Someone smart out there tell me what I am doing wrong.
Thanks in advance....
So, I am not certain if this is your problem, but try to go to:
Setings > Connections Tab > Connections > Advanced Tab and choose the Select Networks button.
Maybe you have that still on MediaNet. That will ONLY allow you to connect via Cingular's data connection. I am not sure if that would hose your internal access, but it would definitely bork your web connection. Try setting it to My ISP and see if that fixes you up.
yes, that was part of the problem, kind of...
You were correct. I had it on medianet like you said. However, somehow I had MY ISP set to identical settings for MediaNet, so MY ISP was pointing to MediaNet as well. I set my Internet to MY ISP and then deleted the settings associated with MY ISP. Now, however, WIFI is working fine, but now I can't connect with GPRS. Arrghhh!

There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in your registered home network

Once I tried to connect the free wifi on Atlanta airport. Since then my ATT 8525 randomly displays this message "There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in your registered home network.
Just FYI, I do not ATT internet subscription.
I can receive text messages and calls as usual but today when I tried to sync my phone with my laptop, it gave errors like make Outlook express as your default mail server.
I cannot sync my phone to my laptop which was possible until I started getting the GPRS messages.
Please help me.
Check your selected network and see by changing it to correct network settings. I am not sure if it is going to resolve your problem or not.
I'm having the same problem.
I do not have a GPRS service.
I do not need it because i use WIFI.
Can i make wifi my only data connection with the HD2?
thnx
go to settings>connections>connections
the touch manage connections and delete the default tmobile gprs setting by touching it and holding til delete come up.
Just fyi,
I was facing this problem, and iiodii's solution worked fine, or simply :
Go to settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks >
Check both options to 'My Work Network' or any network other than your Mobile provider connection.
An advise "Just for users who will reach this topic" (I did through Google )
This didn't work. I'm having the same problem: GPRS not working when I try to send/receive MMS, and it all started after I started using wifi. Should I flash the radio?
I have Hermes 200- two years ago I had the same problem-this is what I did: went to the WIKI and downloaded "network settings" for my phone (cab) and loaded directly to my phone, soft reseted and that was it. Savy!?!!
sorry to hear that.good luck to u .
Go to phone and then menu and then options and go to BAND, don't choose auto but chose GSM OR CDMA both of them. Hope it will help all of you.

T-Mobile Wifi Network

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like I can't remove the tmobile and tmobile1x from the wifi networks selection in Settings > Wireless and network > Wi-Fi Settings
I noticed it today when I was hanging out close to a T-Mobile store and my phone kept locking into the Tmobile wifi network and I couldn't 'Forget' the network. I had to disable Wifi until I left.
Does anyone know the way to remove this? I got two tmobile and tmobile1x networks. It's annoying.

Click to collapse
you need to figure out your APN settings for your cell provider.
usually something like
internet.cellprovider.com
useridname
userpassword
then you can login to Edge/ 3G / HDPDA speeds
since you are new i'll recommend you to read this FAQ

Aircard Sim in Android phone

Okay So i have a sim from an AirCard and i threw it in my inspire just for Data usage and i cant seem to connect to the internet. I get an error incorrect APN settings even though i have the proper APN settings from ATT by default and made sure Via Google. Now i get an signal and the H+ on the phone and then in the mobile network i get incorrect APN settings. So would be possible to get the APN settings for the AirCard?
If anyone else ever wondered about this, I resolved this by using ISP.CINGULAR as my APN, I had the idea to take the APN from my ATT communication manager.
