Hi guys,
To make a long story short I recently bought a Touch pro (im with alltel). I have installed wmwifirouter on my phone in hopes of using my phone as a router to connect to xbox live. Unfortunalety I have running into the problem where on the xbox live test screen it will not go pass the MTU test. I always get the MTU error status and I cannot go any further. I have read though various online sites that in order for xbox live to connect, the MTU setting on the router has to be higher than 1365. So.... my question is..... where is that setting on wmwifirouter and how do i change it.... or is there any other way to fix this problem?..... any help would be great!!!!!
I´ve got the same problem. Anyone with an answer?
I'm trying the same with my Wii but it not work with an ad-hoc network. I think that Wmwifirouter only offers this network type to sharing internet connection.
Sorry for posible errors in my english.
Shame this.
I thought it could route all network traffic but only appears to be basic.
You can get an old linksys router and install ddwrt then use the Router as a wifi repeater
If you get the version with more ram on it you can get the Fat version of DDwrt otherwise you will have to get the micro build.
It's able to route your network traffic to your wifi hub and is probably going to be more relyable as you can boost the signal output too.
I... tried to do this. and i won.
after MUCH time trying to get my 360live i finally did this...
Htc Mogul...wifirouter puttin out wifi...to my alienware laptop...eithernet cable to 360.
i thought thered be pretty bad lag... my stats prove otherwise
no problems here
I have a Touch Pro (Sprint) and I use Wifi Router regularly to connect to XBox live when not at home. It seems to work fine. I dont know about changing any settings or anything like that. I know this doesnt help you but just so you know that it has been done successfully without a hitch. No cables needed.
I have the Fuze and with WMWifirouter, DD-WRT installed on an old WRT54GL, a 12 cell rechargeable battery, some cables and a signal booster I was able to build a portable wifi station that can recharge and I usually get 9 hours of use from the router. Unfortunately the Fuze's battery usually dies within 4 hours of using WMWifirouter so it's kinda pointless but I can recharge it in the car. Maybe I could solder a USB port to the router just to charge. Anyways I use this with my Wii and PS3 and I rarely experince lag online

Hi,
I was searching the forum but haven't found any useful info about that.
Do you know any WM5 software which can change TyTN into wireless router ?
Something like WModem, but using 3G and WiFi in the same time.
My idea is to come back home, plug the charger into my phone , run WRouter and have wireless internet connection everywhere in the flat from my mobile connected to 3G web'n'walk T-Mobile network.
What do you think ?
Cheers,
BenOne
IMHO -
no way
no driver support for that
AFAIK no application
why? power consumtion on highest power setting is terrible, and battery is soon completelly depleted, there is also neecesary to left charger in phone...
if you need wifi router (w/ NAT, firewall, VPN...) you can buy inexpensive router for few bucks and it is more compatible, more stable, more usefull, more secure, far better manageable etc...
yeah right, but for what another device if I have one ?
I am charging my tytn everyday, you know how it eats battery...
just wanted to know, it could be quite useful. cheers
U can use bluetooth on the tytn as a router with a reg hack u can connect more then one computer, not the same range and speed but it is possible.
yeah but then everybode have to have bluetooth in their notebooks. we have 3 laptops in the flat and nobody has bluetooth in it. but what then ? everybody are connecting using dial-up, like thorugh normal usb cable, but instead of it, thorugh bluetooth ?
now we have like that - I am commin back home, connect tytn to my laptop, dial-up, and wireless in my laptop is ad-hoc configured, so everybody are connecting to my machine, and modem (tytn) is shared. if tytn has wireless, I thought, that I don't have to leave my laptop all the time turned on. It could be great to leave connected to charger and that's all. All the internet and local home network could be through that. If there was a linux distribution for this phone I am pretty sure this option would be one of main in netwokr configuration...
anyway thx. just wanted to know if there is any piece of soft for that...
benOne
have you seen this official htc link: http://www.europe.htc.com/support/software/htctytn.html?lang=en
it seems it could be possible with vista... but I'm not sure...
EDIT: NO WAY... This is just wireless modem driver for vista... but not for wifi connection! Sorry!
Anyway, I'm very interested in... it could be very interesting for other connections as well... to get online a game consolle...like nintendo wii...
I really hope this dream will come true!
yeah, imagine you play in the bus online. cool!
battery problem. in this configuration I give our tytn 1 hour working on wifi and 3g used together in the same time...
anyway at home you have charger, in a car aswell, you can buy few batteries on ebay and problem resolved heh
sooo, who can start write this application ?
to which company or open source coders team should I send this idea ?
You could tether your Tytn to your laptop using either a usb cable or bluetooth, then setup an adhoc network through your laptops wifi connection. All you need to do then is do internet connection sharing between your bluetooth DUN connection and your wifi card and you should be in business to let your flat mates connect to your adhoc, which essentially turns your laptop into a router. Let me know if that helps or if you have any further questions.
I've done this myself with my mates and it works flawlessly.
Yea, I searched around a while on this way back but there is no solution that I could find.
Your best bet is to either just use PAN bluetooth, or tether just one computer over bluetooth and share your connection via wifi. It's super easy on a mac, not sure about windows.

ehehe...NO, MATE.... There's NO adsl connection where I live... So I can just use my tytn as a HSDPA modem and I use to share his connection on my PC, BUT I'm not able to share it throug wifi on my wii...
I really hope a coder could solve this... even if I'm not sure it's possible.

yeah, cheers pal, I've already written about that above. I have this kind of network at my home frome the begninnig of using tytn. What I want is to stop using my laprop as a router, my tytn has everything to be a router itself, it needs just a piece of software. This thread is only about piece of software.
Hi, i recently bought and upgraded a 02 XDA Mini S to WM6 and the wifi seems bad like i have to go right next to the wireless point to get a good signal and even then its not at full bar can any1 help me with this or is it just the wifi is rubbish on the wizard?
thanks,
Kurt
Did you go to start-->settings-->connections tab-->wireless LAN-->power mode tab and set it on best performance? That should give you some more room to work with.
yep still is really bad though about 10 meters and 2 walls away from the router an i couldnt get a signal.
At "10 meters and 2 walls away from the router" I also get no connection -where my Wifi enabled laptop works fine at the same time. Seems like the Wifi on the HTC device is rather weak and operates from a small distance only. Anyways I've learned to live with it.
oh rite well annoying though considering my dell axim x51 can get a very good signal like 30 meters from the access point. is there anyway i can up the power on my wizard? ive got wireless G enabled aswell.
Ya, I have a 7db antennae on my router and I still seem to need to be inside of 20 or so feet, and no walls for my wizard to find the network. I think it's just a weak card.
I also noticed that.
Yes I also noticed that. I have a wifi hotspot subscription and with my old WM5 ROM i can connect and surf without any problem, however when useing any WM6 ROM i just connect poorly and the connection breaks everytime.
Even in my wireless home router i had turn on the name broadcast (enabling WEP of course) in order to connect properly at the first try.
Ive noted this with every WM6 Rom out there and since my device is a G4 i cant upgrade the radio rom. so... well i suffer from this issue also.
I got recieved mine yesterday(on orange racoon 30(500mins, 100texts, unlimited landline) £25/month, £175.50 for the phone(of which will get £130 credit on my next bill, so £45.50 effectively), £5/month 500mb web), I've charged it and got the hot fix, hd tweak and batti on there. the 'new' contract doesn't kick in till the 26th.
trying to setup wifi connection but my network is coming up as unavailable, I've set the network name, wpa-psk with key but still no dice. it did come up as available briefly but clicking connect just gave connecting and no further.
going to try installing tomtom on it, hope I don't have problems trying to get the maps 'installed'. what car holder works with the touch hd(having it in landscape while running tomtom) and car charger?
Make sure wifi is set to best performance.
some routers have been said to be incompatible with mobile wifi, especially the oldies. What's yours?
mooro how do you do that?
rhtizzy its the Belkin Adsl Modem and High Speed G+ Router 125Mbph(F5D7633-4Av1_UK_1.00.17), have had it for ~2 1/2years. had problem setting my dads' n95 up on it as well, kept asking for the key even when I had entered it(this happend with both wep and wpa). I've got my psp, ipod touch 32gb, ps3 all setup with it fine(had my ds also when I was using wep, ds doesn't support wpa or wpa2 so can't connect it now).
try it out on a public hotspot somewhere or on a friends wan if you can first. If it works then maybe your router needs a firmware update, check their site for any downloads. If not, thn you're probably looking at getting a new router
I've got the same modem. Try turning off the +G booster, it gave me loads of problems with my laptop, PSP and anything else. Using a WEP password too. Also worth a try is changing the channel is you have alot of signals in the area.
Hello,
After finding the amazing WMWifiRouter I keep on searching for a program to help me extand the wifi range in my house, since some rooms i have no wifi in range.
I thought to put the mobile i got (Touch Diamond) in the middle where it can reach my home network, and connect to my home network through it.
In one sentence: make it a wifi repeater..
Any good suggestions?
Is it possible at all?
UMMM no probably not. What you are talking about is mimo and there is no need for it in general. you could use wmwifirouter as you gateway to the internet and use your home router to connect other computers. YOu would have a heating problem and power problem on your phone tho trying to boost the signal to connect. Tho you could move the router closer to the senter useing your phone to provide the internet connection and then you could put it where ever you can get the best coverage in the house. There are instructions on there website on how to do this even using DHCP from the phone thru the router. So maybe this way.
Pocket PC Wifi Repeater
I would also be very interested in this capability, I was in a hotel ounce where I had good wifi in bathroom but not at the desk. So when great wifi is just barely out of range this would be a great utility.
i would be glad to have something like that too.
I would request this by email to WMWifiRouter or if they have a forum not sure if they read posts here
My EVO is rooted with custom Evio 1.5 ROM.
Now my question is, I thought that you could have it so that th EVO acts a wireless hotspot for other devices.
Now, I know that you can have it act as a hotspot and transmit the 3G/4G signal as a rotuer.
BUT, I thought it was possible to make it so the EVO could share the wireless signal that it is connected to, to other devices.
Sorry if this sounds confusing, but I live in an apartment complex with free wifi, but it requires you to open up a browser and it redirects you to a page where you enter some info and it gives you a free "account" to access the internet. Well, my friend wants to go on Xbox Live and well, the 360 does not have a browser to enter the information, thus the wifi blocks his 360.
My EVO picks up the wifi just fine (because it has a browser) so I thought it would be a good idea, to receive the wireless signal and transmit it to his Xbox 360 as a different router but still using Wireless speeds.
I swear that when I was messing around with my EVO that I could share my wireless internet with other devices, but I thought it was a useless tool, because if the device can already connect to WiFi, then why does it need to connect to my EVO. But now, I see a good use for it, but for some reason I cannot figure out how to do it.
3G is a lot slower than our WiFi, and we don't have 4G in Rochester, MN.
Does anyone know if there is a way for the 360 to bypass it, or know how to transmit a wireless signal from the phone and turn it into a router.
Maybe this will help

I don't think that it is possible. There is only one wifi radio. Either it is using wifi to be a client, or as the hotspot or tether application a host.
Think that you would need two wifi devices, like a notebook or desktop running wifi and using the ethernet port running Internet sharing plugged into the back of the Xbox using ethernet or possible using ethernet from your PC into a router.
I work for a company that installs systems similar to the one probably being used in your apartment complex. Devices on our system (Nomadix) are authenticated by MAC address. Have you tried to spoof the Xbox's mac address on a computer, sign in to the web and then attempt to connect with the 360?
AFAIK you cannot both connect to an access point and broadcast a signal for another device to connect to. I know that you CAN connect to an access point and USB tether. You can also connect a laptop to the free wifi and share the connection to the xbox with a cat5 cable.
download "wireless tether pre 11" and use it to play xbox live, i used myn the other night for about 5 hours and only burnt through 20 some megs, um if you dont have wifi on your xbox, use a laptop and pic up the signal with it and plug in an ethernet cable to your xbox from your laptop. that will also work, it is a bit slower than your net in your apartment, as i was only getting two to three bars the whole night.

Spoof your computer mac address to that of you 360. Activate, then connect 360
Or use a laptop to connect to wifi, then a bridge ethernet cable form laptop to xbox.
or you could (insert something that was already said four posts up).
