I have done the following already:
Select Start
Select settings
Select Connection Tab
Select Bluetooth
select Timeout Tab
Select Never
Click ok
But it doesn't seem to stay on....

I appreciate that post Thank you...

There is a 95% walkaround if you check out the sticky posts in this forum and some new BT drivers in a ROM update. Check out the stickys

this retarded bluetooth problem plagues us all... even my jawbone 2 keeps getting disconnected every now and then for no apparent reason.
Where are the new BT drivers you mean? Is this an official SE update for the Xperia?

Now that's a more friendly reply. Thank you for your time and effort, much appreciated...

I thought this would be the best place to post this. But I don't experience this problem since I went into advanced config and enabled the audio gateway under bluetooth. Has anyone tried this? What are your results?

Just so you know... Visible only means using for things like transferring files, pairing, etc.
It does NOT mean your Bluetooth will stay on constantly (like with your headset AFTER it is paired).
This ONLY allowed other mobiles, etc. to "see" your phone. After the timeout, it goes back to being invisible, but already paired items can continue to communicate.
AFAIK.

Have you installed Bluetooth Tools?
Not sure if that's even necessary or not, but certainly that software by very nature, does this so that incoming calls can be passed to Bluetooth headsets.
This can be altered, if you are using Bluetooth Tools, by enabling this item on the today screen, and turning OFF timed bluetooth mode.
If you are not using this, then I am not sure...
Yes, I do use Bluetooth tools.
I use it mainly for my GPS BT Receiver.
I will play with its options, and see if this can solved this.

Not solve mate - it's the whole intention of the software you installed.
Simply enable the Bluetooth Tools plugin on your today screen.
Then you will see a little clock icon.
Tap on this so it goes grey.
This means you just turned OFF the timed bluetooth option.
But mate, it ISN'T a bug, and is the very purpose of Bluetooth Tools for most people.
To get it to activate Bluetooth ONLY when a call comes in, so as to enable the headset.
Instead of PERMANENTLY having to leave BT on, and thus flatten the battery.
i'm pretty sure mine does it when i make the clock grey aswell

Rudegar,
If you grey out the clock, you turn OFF the timed element of Bluetooth.
It will then depend on whether you have Bluetooth ON, or Bluetooth OFF as to what happens then...
All the clock does, AFAIK, is enable or disable timed bluetooth...?
Yep.. guess you right. It's working so good with the BT GPS receiver, I'll just sit and enjoy, and let it work for 60 seconds, each call I make.
Even when I turn the clock grey it still comes on !
OK I can live with the 60secs business, it'll save battery life.
But what is the purpose of the 2 battery indicators 1&2 ?? Can't seem to suss that out ?

They are two different Profiles as it were.
It means you can configure settings as you prefer for one device/gps/headset, and then click icon 2 and set another lot, for a different device, then quickly change easily.
That info is from the Bluetooth Tools site, where it is all mentioned.
I don't wish to sound too rude, but it would be helpful if people seeking support would try reading the site where they download stuff from, or the original author's site, first...
http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html
thanks for the help mate and thanks for telling me what it already says on that site.
My question is really how to configure those two settings ? I can't work out how I can set different settings for profile 2 nor how I can change 1 ?

Well, it's dead simple (actually, was too simple for me to understand until someone pointed it out to me...): you tap on '1', so that it gets the little grey box around it. Then you use the normal settings dialogs of the PPC to configure things like backlight timeout, brightness etc. Then go back to the Today screen, tap on '2', and again configure your PPC. Now, each time you tap '1' or '2', the set of settings will be restored. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a list of which settings are actually subject to that toggle. I know that the backlight timing is, because that's what I use it for: while TomTom is running, I don't want the backlight to go out, so while '2' was actibe, I configured the backlight accordingly. Now '1' is my normal mode, and '2' is the "navigation" mode.

Htc Should Update Hermes Roms!

Today I was in this computer where clients are able to touch and test the equipments. I went to the PDA section and I tested the bluetooth menus and options available on HTC touch cruise and another one I dont recall (p34 something). I was surprized to see an option on the bluetooth menu which said "Time until BT goes invisible". And then a drop down list from where u could choose from none (always active) until a couple of hours. This said I wonder why cant they put an option like that on hermes? I mean, everytime I go into suspend mode the bluetooth goes invisible and only my headset can find the PDA! Hermes is an HTC best seller I cant see why they dont support it anymore, it's such a powerful device
We only need a short program for this. I think Dr. Yaar Bluetooth is being popular on the forum. Well I never give it a try but surely we can do such type of function to work.

Already installed it. Didn't work. Maybe because it is made for Win Mobile 05...

Sounds...

On WM5.0 there used to be a sound that would play when the bluetooth connected. Not on WM6.1. Is there a way of turning on the sound for bluetooth connections? I know there's a notification for connection established but that appears to be for like a wifi connection.
Also, WM5.0 used to have a click sound for opening the Start menu and/or doing menu picks, etc. How can one turn that on?
Finally are there any good "sound collections". Cutesy sounds then you connect to wifi or or new email or SMS message are nice but then you need to do a translation in your mind of "Oh that cutesy sound means I got an SMS". I'd rather just a sound that says "You received and SMS message" or "You missed a phone call" etc.

I wasn't really looking for all taps, just menu taps. For example, I didn't want (or I wasn't used to) having a sound come out just because I checked off a task, but I did remember a sound happening when I tapped on "Start" or when I then tapped on "Programs". IOW a menu pick, not each and every time the stylus/finger hits the screen. Plus you can't seem to set or change this one (though I didn't look into the registry).

I have lots of times when the bluetooth doesn't connect or I'm not sure it's connected. I was used to that reassuring sound that yes I am indeed connected properly.
Speaking of which, it would be nice to have an application that really indicates bluetooth status. IOW what's connected to what.
I have a Sony-Ericson bluetooth headset. It's stereo and AD2P, etc. I can listen to music and answer phone calls. I use it all the time, except when I get into my car. There I have a Motorola Rokr which takes the bluetooth and rebroadcasts it to FM. So I sometimes "pass the torch" between the two. Sometimes the BT "Wireless" gets passed byt the BT "Handsfree" does not. Or at least that's my suspicion. I'd like a program which can verify this for me by showing me "Hey the BT Wireless is currently connected or paired up with the Rokr but the BT Handsfree is associated with the Sony-Ericson". Of course a little functionality in this tool to tell it "Hey move that BT Handsfree association -> Rokr" would be excellent!
Oh, and I'm curious. Who designed bluetooth and why is it that the functionality/connections are so bad and badly designed? I mean it seems to me that BT Handsfree control multiple things. For example, it seems to control ARVCP as well as "Push to talk" at the same time. I think such functionality should be controllable separately.

I don't know of any other settings for that. This is my 4th or 5th WM device, and up until now they all did what you are describing. Maybe this is something that was removed in WM6.

If I remember right, it was originally developed by Ericsson, and then a consortium of companies banded together to create a standards group. The standards group has done well developing specifications for compliance to each version, but the problem is that multiple Bluetooth stacks have been developed by just about everyone that manufactures BT devices or supports them.
The result is a lot of different BT implementations that technically conform to the specs, but a vary greatly in practical usage. What a shame...

two BT connections -possible?

Is it possible to connect two BT devices at the same time to BA 6.5? E.g. BT headset and external GPS?
Because I want to hear the direction thru my BT headset, and every time I connect the headset, the GPS connection fails.

ou seem to be new to the forums. Thank you for joining XDA-Developers.
Please take a minute to go over the Rules and Regulations of the forum.
Also, it seems that you are a Blue Angel owner, in which case I will encourage you to go over the BA forum regulations here
For questions, please use the search function in the site or simply Google for an answer. More than likely, your question has probably been answered before and the answer is floating around somewhere in the site. That being said, unless you are contributing to the site with either skins, roms, ports, new applications, programs, games, etc., please [highlight]do not[/highlight] open new threads. However, if you do have questions, you can post them either in the BA Q&A section or in the General Q&A section.
Thanks.

Sorry egzthunder - but I did all this for some time now.
None of my searches found a working solution for this problem.
And this forum is the only one related to BA only (and not all those "NEW" devices )
I do think that I should "rephrase" my Q:
After connecting my GPS ant to my device, and opening IGO8 software, everything works OK. The moment I press "ON" my BT headset (Jabra BT5010) the GPS connection drops dead.
I tried all the "solutions" mentioned around, none worked.
Also- they all refer to WM5 and 6, NOT WM6.5
Your thread is nice, but with no answer in it...
Thanks
Ramicu

This is not the problem, as I connected two devices with my old IPAQ 6340 and he had BT 1.1 also.
i think it's something with the 6.5 "CR_K_D" rom or RADIO
(I'm using radio1.15.00 and rom 21139)
No, BT1.1. not working with two devices in the same time !
BT 1.1 is working flawlessly...

Sorry , but you are wrong.
I have done a simple test:
I took a brand new SX66 with WM2003, radio1.02 , and installed nevigation software on it. Next- I connected the GPS AND my BT Jabra headset to the sx66- both worked great, and I was able to hear the nevi directions thru the headset...
Same thing with my (VERY OLD) Ipaq machine...
So the problam is with x-plode rom. not the hardware... :-(
Maybe you right, if uses two different profiles will (must) be work.
But if uses one profile -no , ex. GPS and DUN (over COM)

Heres how I do it. Im running dexter 1.3 mod. You have to install the bluetooth fix. Put you a7 in discovery mode and you gps into discovery mode . Scan for your gps once found pair it with the a7. It should come up and say paired but not connected and thats normal.
Download bluetooth pgs provider from the market and run it. It will ask you to choose your gps. Tap on your gps when you see it. after that you should see a bar that says start tap on that. Now you should see stats at the bottom of the screen from your gps. Now you can run your gps program and it should work mine does. I use copilot live. I also use it on my phone. After I install it on the a7 I had to copy my copilot directory from my phone to the a7 to make it work. There are other bluetooth programs on the market that do the same as bluetooth provider If that doesnt work you could try some of the others
hope that helps

I am hitting a dead end. I have tried both Dex's 1.3 mod with the bluetooth fix as well as the 1.4 mod with the same results. In either case, when I go to the market, the Blue GPS app as well as many others don't show up in searches when I try to get them (for example, when I search for meowsbox I only see 3 apps including the "Bluetooth GPS License" but not the GPS app itself). I can see them in my PC browser but not via the market App and in my browser they say they are not compatible with my device. I was able to download Blue GPS manually from source_forge by accepting non-certified apps but that didn't work either (connection errors).
For reference, I see the following in "About Device":
Model Number: A7-040; Firmware Version: 2.2; Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1; Serial number 2496430001227; Build Number: Dexter's ElocityA7 Mod v1.41; EC version: 0.14;
Also, when I hit the market, I see the following:
Maker:Compal; Model:A7-040; Carrier:T-Mobile;
Any ideas?

Can't find the Bluetooth fix for Dextermod 1.3 does anyone have a copy?
I purchased a GSat Bluetooth GPS receiver and want to use it but all of a sudden I can't enable bluetooth. I'm running 1.3 without any patches and I used to at least have the ability to turn on the bluetooth and pair up a headset. Now, in settings, I can't even get bluetooth enabled (I have WiFi just fine). I was looking for the bluetooth patch that was created for Dexter's 1.3 mod, but can't find it. Does anyone know where I can locate that patch?
I know that I could update to 1.4 (plus patches) but I've been spooked by some of the problems reported, and everything else is working well.
Update: OK, I found it at Post#690 on the Android Dev/Elocitymod thread. I hope it works!
if i recall the right file from examining dexters rom, he replaced either the settings or contacts apk that originally had bluetooth settings option from elocity w one that does not have those bluetooth settings, at least in the 1.41 rom. so upgrading will not help.

Bestialbub, if you have any advice for me I would really appreciate it. Your wife is so lucky to have you to help her... my husband is wonderful but l'm the techie of the family!!!
i might have the answer for that one;
1
download and install "anycut" from the market. its a utility application for making convenient shortcuts to important activities and menus in programs.
2
open anycut from your applications menu.
3
choose "new shortcut"
4
choose "activity"
5
scroll down to where i hope you see "Bluetooth settings"
you should now have a shortcut on the desktop labeled "Bluetooth settings". see if that gets you to what you need. it didn't work on my cm6 froyo rom for my x10 phone, and i don't have a tablet in my hands at the moment. i just got a force close error. i should think if the bluetooth app (it is an apk) is working right, it should open that menu, even though you may not find it elsewhere. sorry if it doesn't work.
EDIT; otherwise, if that doesn't work, using the same solution you may find one of the many "Settings" listings further down the activities list could be a bluetooth menu entry as well. they don't list the subnames sometimes for multiple activities/menu's in 1 program. you may also find some of these activities/shortcuts causes your tablet to reboot.

1. i did not remove bluetooth ... why would i do such thing..
2. previous roms had firmware bluetooth problems not "settings" in android.. different story.. different problem..
when its said "bluetooth fix", it means bluetooth boot.img fix, not anything else.. i would not recommend ideas, when you can actually just open and check yourself... and you're not using so why start advising on the firmware you havent seen.. your advise can be easily misunderstood, and you cannot see the problem, as you start directing in wrong direction, which lead to total confusion, which i see now.... why use shortcuts when settings offer a "bluetooth" option like all android would...
@dexter_nlb; i never falsely represent my suggestions as definitive solutions; just possibilities as workaround for a device i didn't have in my hands at the moment.
and for the record, *i* tried both suggested solutions, and yes, i verified the bluetooth settings shortcut i suggested (which could be a convenience for some to have direct access to from the homescreen) worked, as well as yours. i made the silly assumption someone would have checked the settings menu before asking.
@okantomi; under Wireless in the Settings menu in the newest elocity firmware, i cant say for elocitymod version youre running.
sorry dex couldn't CLEARLY answer this before chewing me out. @dexter_nlb; did you try my suggestion before snapping?
i wasn't making things up about your contacts.apk either;
Code:
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.BLUETOOTH" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.BLUETOOTH_ADMIN" />
permissions not listed in the contacts.apk you provided that are listed in the factory apk. suggestive that the contacts.apk provided in elocitymod could be lacking some bluetooth functionality OR accessibility to such settings, at the least in the contacts.apk; a system application in your rom.
i'm pretty sure users are permitted to answer questions on xda without your permission, even if they do relate to your rom. wouldn't they be posting directly to your rom thread if they thought you were the only one with all the answers?
and i'm not suggesting you would intentionally remove functionality in your rom; but your rom is a work in progress, just like all roms. i'm sure with room for improvement, and those improvements are generally made with feedback and insight from other users.
good luck with your rom developmemt if this is how you respond when other users try to help each other online, out of your thread nonetheless, on a forum thats says "xda", not "dexter's". you should be taking these opportunities to learn from other people that are willing to help you, instead of assuming you have all the answers. i only quote what other users have been freely pm'ing and emailing me in private, after you've clearly given this impression to other users, and not for the first time.
EDIT: @dexter_nlb; i will have my own a7 by next week. you can rest a little sounder knowing i won't be suggesting untested solutions in the near future. sorry for the scare.
bluetooth access is if the framework require that in combination with a headset that has speech support or similar, but direct related its not.
Contacts and Bluetooth works independently.. and some rights failing during bootup can be ignored, and yes, contacts and calendar is "motorola" design for mobiles, so bluetooth makes less sense here, and the access is not important.
people using BT gps units mostly fail with it, as they think they should have it in "connected" state when they use the bluegps4droid app, but no, just have it paired is ok.. and mock locations enabled in this case under development, but all info possible to find when looking for bluegps4droid..
my previous problem with bt, was firmware flashing in previous releases not happening for all ppl. 1.41 do not have the problem.
the "problems" reported on 1.41 is sdcard related, that did not exist on 1.3 or previous as it were not at all found in android, but only as mount in filesystem. now its fully supported but with some tweaks to work with.
I installed Dexter's Bluetooth Fix for version 1.3 and it worked...I got my bluetooth back. Now I'm trying to get my GPS receiver to connect again -it did so for a while last night and won't connect again since I rebooted. However, I'm sure that's an issue with the hardware I'm using and will keep working on it.
Thanks to everyone who is working on making this tablet work better. I have learned a lot from all of the discussions and explanations. It is very appreciated.
I had an old "Palm" branded Garmin bluetooth GPS receiver laying around; so, I decided to give this a try with my A7. Pairs with bluetooth fine. Connects with Bluegps4droid. GPS stats seems to report the correct lattitude and longitude, but Google navigation does not work at all. I own copilot; so, maybe I'll try that later.
