not many responses to this thread, so i don't know if anyone cares
but here is the solution, not too hard
1. on your phone fire up your favorite Registry Editor
2. go to HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Ignored
a. if Ignored key doesn't exist create it
3. create a new String Value and name it anything you like
example: igo
4. set the Data for the new value to the full path of the folder to be ignored
example: \Storage Card\iGO8
note: all sub-folders will be ignored as well
5. restart your phone
note: the folder and it's sub-folders will not show up in Album
now that i can carry thousands of my photos with me
i realize that HTC Album gets crowded with sub-folders/albums
most are sub-folders with my photos and i guess i have to live with that
but also some system and miscellaneous folders show up
simply put a lot of finger scrolling
is there a way to hide / ignore certain sub-folders from HTC Album?
bumping
because i'd like to know if this is possible
i figured if windows and program files are hidden from the list,
there has to be a way to hide other unwanted folders
I don't think there is a way on the HD without something like resco explorer but, on your PC change the folder or file attribute to hidden before transferring to your HD.
bumping the solution
Thanks, this is great tip
tagging this so I can find it after each reflash
If you just want to keep photos out of TF3D album (so it will still appear in albums if ytou launch HTC Album but not in the TF3D tab) and it's easier: http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=1789
yopu just pick a folder as your favorite.

many fine Registry Editors outthere
i personally use dotFred Task Manager it has a very good Registry Editor built-in
easy to use and powerful application
Hi, great tip by the way. Managed to hide the images coming from gAlarm. Is it possible to have the same thing for Music? I dont want those sound files from a third party app to be included in the ALL music tab, my quick fix is to use a playlist Thanks.
Excellent tip mate, surprised you haven't had many other responses!!
You are the Man!!!
I have been looking for away to do this for ages.
Ahh cool. Can this be made into some kind of batch file, so when you flash it can be added right back in?
Actually, is there a way to ignore everything and add the folders you want to include?

after you populate it the way you like export the Registry KEY
import after flash,
or
convert to XML or CAB and install
these topics are covered better elsewhere in this forum,
search for "UC or user customization" or SASHIMI

I am interested in that also. I have my phone record my calls as .mp3, and they show up as music in music player!
Excellent tips! Thanks a lot for sharing. Have been searching around for this solution. Some photos really cannot be seen by others, especially my kids. (U know what I mean?)
Wicked post!
This is a wicked post...
Been looking for how to do this for ages!
oh wow thanks hated seeing all those folders
This is a great info man, thanks.
tip tip
Thanks for sharing it.
Mike
A number of people have PM'ed me about this so I decided to have a good search.
At first I thought it was simply in \application data\htc\audiomanager_eng but my playlist folder shows nothing
I had a good root round my reg which didn't help, lol, searches didnt provide any useful info either
I'm slightly mistified myself as to where else the playlists could be held, possibly in one of the manila files located in the windows folder?
Was hoping our fine members could possibly show me the light in this matter or could elaborate anymore?
Cheers Rick
EDIT - SOLVED
See post#4
Hi,
This may be way off but thought I'd mention it anyway. I have a couple of playlists which I created through Pocket Player. These seem to be saved under My Device/My Documents?
Cheers
Dave
Found mine in HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Music
r
Andrew
Thanks guys, though I think I solved it.
It was in \application data\htc\audiomanager_eng afterall
There should be a file called AudioManager_Eng.vol located in path shown above. If you change this to a .txt you'll notice all your songs which are in your playlist should be listed within this file in a gobbledegook sort of way. This file just updates if you change or make new playlists.
What confused me was this file was already here before I created a playlist so I assumed another file would appear instead of this file updating
Thanks anyway
Rick
Was looking for this a while back! Thanks for the tip
Hi,
Got rather a big problem. I installed Resto Explorer and was using it quite happily until the trial period lapsed. I did purchase the program as I liked it but got the wrong license generated and still waiting to hear from their support on getting it fixed. In the mean time I was unable to edit or do anything of substance.
So in my wisdom I decided to remove it for now. Big mistake! I am now unable to explore my phone as I cannot find the default explorer. I think I may have removed that from the start menu. OCD cleanliness you understand!!
So I cannot explore at all and thus cannot install anything to replace it.
Anyone know how I might recover from this one?
Cheers.
try installing total commander
Ok panic over. I used pcsync to copy a shortcut of fexplore.exe to start menu. Phew!
What someone mind posting the registy location and values of the default file explorer please so I can fully recover as it was and this time keep it there!!
Thanks.

Not quite sure what you expect to be stored in the registry for the file explorer. I've had a brief look and can't see anything in there. Just using it will set up any data storage that it uses. AFAIK it only needs to remember the last location it was in - nothing more.
Well at the mo all I have in the start menu now is "Shortcut to fexplore.exe". I woudl like to clean that up as far as possible to be what it it supposed to be.

Open file explorer and go to windows\start menu\programs and find the shortcut. Just rename it in there.
Incidentally, if you select an application, anywhere on your phone and do "Copy", you can then go to the above mentioned programs folder and do "Paste Shortuct". Just in case you lose any more shortcuts
Was wondering if anyone happened to know how to change the icons for your favourite internet bookmarks on the internet screen.
Typically when you add the favourite it takes a screen shot of the webpage, but I'd like to change it to a different picture, maybe one I've saved myself.
Does anyone know if this is possible.
Also, I have a T-Mobile HD2, and wondered if anyone knew how to change the web 'n' walk logo that comes up once you have clicked a favourite.
Thank you advance for your help.
1. generate the thumbnails the normal way
2. go to \windows\thumbnails and copy all files to sd card
3. copy the files to your computer and modify them to your likings. make sure you preserve the file type and the exact names!
4. overwrite the old files with the modified ones in \windows\thumbnails
tip:
resize the thumbnails from 512x512 to 128x128. the internet tab will be faster and you will hardly notice any difference in quality.

To be honest, I don't really know how to take a screenshot of my phone. Sorry.
But, when I click a favourite, or just click "Launch browser", a small T-Mobile web 'n' walk logo appears on the screen for a moment. It's about an inch wide and just stays on the screen until the browser actually launches.
I think that on non-branded phones, a short HTC clip plays before the browser launches.

ok, first go to \windows\opera9 and you'll find 2 png files:
Opera_loading_Landscape(...).png
Opera_loading_POR(...).png
open them and:
- if they are the ones you are looking for just copy to pc > modify (preserve the names!) > overwite the originals
or
- if they are the default opera spalsh screens with the htc logo then go to registry hklm\software\opera\info\ and you'll find 2 strings: spashscreenlandscape & spashscreenportrait. under the names you'll find the path to the splash screens you want to replace. go there, copy to pc > modify (preserve the names!) > overwite the originals.
i hope this helps, cheers

Folks, the hidden menu under the Dell EM app has been cracked open. Here is how to get to it. Its still stupid of Dell to have a convoluted way to get get to it.
1. GO to EM app on your DVP (dial ##634# - if u haven't done so to make the app appear under apps)
2. Open physical keypad
3. Double tap the blank dark area of the screen (below the MMS settings)
4. On the physical keyboard, press each of the first row buttons (qwertyuiop)
5. This should open up the advanced menu.
Same password to get to the RD Test and Protocol - *#6336#
Be careful when using the Chinese language menu's. It will make the app language as Chinese. You can always exit and come back to the app.
New features:
Nothing much except one important feature - File Browser (Windows Explorer)
Registry Editor - still doesn't work for writing and only good for reading.
How to Get to File Browser:
1. Go to RD Test. In the input box type *#6336#
This will open up RD test page.
2. Scroll to the bottom and click About EM. This will open up SORRY APPLICATION.
3. In the empty input box, type 983. This will open up the file browser.
The Explorer is so slow and might crash the app.
Note:The above steps only works for the DVP's that have the new EM App and updated FW version - 2250.1800.7355.205 and beyond or close to that.
If you try to load the new EM App in the current DVP's, it will not work for the new features.

Does any of this allow the DVP to backup SMS, for example if they are stored in a data file?

Built-in file explorer
Thanks for the info on the built-in file explorer.
One thing I have noticed is it shows more files and directories than other methods of looking at the files (like using the web server app).
I can see files in the root as well as many other directories.
For example, when I open the file explorer I see:
Storage Card\
Windows\
Temp\
Application Data\
mxip_notify.vol
Applications\
mxip_system.vol
My Documents\
Program Files\
Wallpapers\
DOCFILE\
and more...
I am not sure that it is helpful, but it is different.

Let me write a quick app that writes the read file to a isolated storage and we can dump the file from there.
Any of you headed to Mix next week?

Are you handing over Chris a dvp?
He won't be getting mine to keep, but if anyone smarter than I feels like they can do something with the registry after having access to a device, I'm game.

Not until we get hold of Qisda Driver similar to HTC.
How bout write access to the file explorer? Everything I find says it's for HTC products only.
Is there a way to permanetly change the touch sensitivity of the phone or will it always reset to the default of 40 after a power cycle?

This is a nice app that i put together earlier for the flashlight.

For those of you with the new updated FW, let me if this app isn't working. I will upload the updated one.
AWESOME thanks !
How did you figure this out..?
Anyway.. any idea if the NEW firmware update coming soon, is going to be NEW to us as well ? Camera still isnt fixed, and radio seems worse than old phone.
