SPB Weather over T-Mobile proxy - NO go - Touch HD General

I'm trying to update weather using SPB Weather using t-Mobile proxy
216.155.165.50 with a port of 8080
and UNABLE to update. Same with SBSH Weather.
Opera works fine and display pages. Google maps work OK too.

I have a similar problem with you.
It use to work but after a hard reset i had to add the connection again, and now it's not working any more.
Did you find a solution for this yet ?!

I need a help please (wap connection)

I have PDA2K with wm5 with wap over gprs connection.
I installed spb weather, sbsh pocket weather and virtual earth mobile.
I cannot updat weather on spb and sbsh using wap gprs connection i can update just only using wifi or activesync ie. internet connection.
My friend has the same phone and same software wap gprs connection but another gsm operator, he can update weather using wapgprs normally. Can any one help me please solve this problem? Also he can view maps on virtual earth mobile using his wap gprs connection and i cant.
Best Regards,
This is probably operator issue. Some cell operators when they say 'WAP' mean limited access to their site only that will let you read news, get ring-tones and stuff but not use mail, messenger or other apps that require real internet access.
Try switching SIMs with your friend and updating the weather. If it works, call you operator and inquire about internet access.
If not, it may be a settings issue. You need to make sure your GPRS connection is under 'My IPS'.

T-Mobile US GPRS being wierd...only IE works

Hey all...so im using a little loop whole to use free tmobile internet via proxy settings...now i got the internet to work, but only IE works! i cant get online with any other program such has AIM, myweather app, or anything else, only IE goes online...anyone have this issue? or how to fix it? its driving me crazy!
could be they are blocking the ports used for such services
i dunno?...Live search is the other only program tht works online too...
i believe that it use port80 like browsers too
It uses port 8080, Using IM+ and setting the AIM port to 110 will allow you to connect, but remember it's only a few ports that are open and other programs might not have a setting to change ports for it to work with the Tzones proxy.
You can't (as yet) use 1 connection setting on the T-Mobile network using the T-Zones proxy workaround. I have been (tediously) using 2 connections.
(for internet)
T-Zones proxy
wap.voicestream.com
216.155.165.50:8080
(for mail)
T-Mobile Data
wap.voicestream.com
**no proxy settings**
I've been searching for a way to set up one connection to use which would automatically bypass and use a second connection if connectivity couldn't be established. No one seems to have an answer for this, but i'd love it if someone could figure it out!
I'm waiting as well...
I aked the same question and still waiting http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340945
This happened after I flashed the latest TMO ROM, prior to that I had one connection for all my internet apps. Now my weather, and email don't need a proxy but PIE and Live search do what has changed?

T-Mobile US $5.99 Plan and HTC Home Weather

I set my Touch Dual up today using internet with the T-MobileWeb plan, which uses a proxy server. I'm finding that I can't get the HTC Home Plugin Weather to work.
Does anyone else here use the Tmobileweb plan and use HTC Weather? If so, what do i need to do to get it working?
I'm currently still using the stock ROM, WM6. Will be flashing a new ROM soon but wanted to get everything working here first. Any help would be appreciated.
Same issue here. I have wifi half the time and just use that. If I REALLY need the weather, I use a web page.

Bummer. But can't complain since it's $5.99. I'm using SPB Weather and it works fine. The only thing is that it doesn't show current weather. Does anyone use one that shows current weather that also works with the TMobile $5.99 plan?

I do not think it is the 5.99 vs full internet plan. I read somewhere saying the the HTC Home Weather Tab does not work with the data plan (however, it works on WIFI).
By the way, can someone share the TMO setting for using the Tmobile US $5.99 data plan on ATT Tilt?

Here's the setting:
5.99
start
settings
connections
connections
under proxy settings check: this network connects to the internet
check this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet
proxy server should be :216.155.165.50
click advanced
http: 216.155.165.50:8080
wap: 216.155.165.50:9201
secure wap: 216.155.165.50:9201
socks (blank)
under modem, your access point name should be : wap.voicestream.com
name and password blank.
under advanced check use server assigned ip address
use software compression
use ip header compression.
T-Mobile Total Internet
The only differences is instead of wap.voicestream.com, its:
internet2.voicestream.com or internet3.voicestream.com
And instead of ports 9201 its 9203.

The only problem I have is I need to switch my setting between accessing the internet and downloading my email. It seems the email setting is different from accessing internet. I haven't figure it out how to combine the two. Do let me know if you able to resolve this issue or don't have the same problem.

my HTC weather still doesn't work. oh well.
i don't have problems with my exchange email. what are you trying to do?
still not working
Now the $5.99 plan is only for WAP pages and generally a selected group by T-Mobile I think. I assume the accuweather is HTML or XML.
However the Unlimited PDA plan should work at $19.99. Can anyone confirm that that works?

The only thing that hasn't worked for me with the $5.99 plan is HTC Weather. SPB Weather and WeatherPanel both work great for me.
theres a great free program to get weather on your today screen its called weather to go, and can be found here
There is a patch to make it work:

Windows Mobile 6.1 WLAN with Proxy

Hello!
I own a htc diamond and want to access a wifi network that's using a HTTP proxy. I can connect to the network itsself. However, the proxy settings aren't applied or sometimes deleted when I disactivate and reactivate wifi. When I try it at home, it can still access the internet even if I set the proxy server. (I don't have a proxy server at home, so it shouldn't work then...)
With a iPod Touch/iPhone the following settings work:
Server: server-01.hak-reutte.ac.at
Port: 8080
I also have to authenticate using an username and password, but I think there's also a web form so it's not necessary to configure that in the proxy configuration.
Thank you,
Simon

If you use ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Centre verify the connection settings are NOT set to automatic. If they are then the Proxy settings are overwritten each time you connect to your PC to sync. If you want to use a proxy over WiFi then you need to make sure your 'Work' connection settings specify the proxy and you need to configure the WiFi settings to 'Connects to Work' (or whatever it says, but NOT 'Internet').
Andy
Hi ADB100!
Thanks for your answer. The problem occurs even when I'm not connected to ActiveSync. Somehow the proxy server is reset when the WLAN is used. I tried the application WmWifiProfiles, but the problem is still there. When I set the proxy server and exit the settings application, the settings for HTTP proxy are somehow not saved. (When I reopen the settings dialog, the http proxy setting is blank, but the proxy for socks is still there.)
Regards,
Simon

Do you have proxy auto-discovery on?
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
EnableAutoDetect=00000001
If its set to 1 then proxy auto-discovery is enabled, 0 is disabled.
I have no idea if it is this but worth a shot?
Andy
Hi ADB100!
AutoDetect wasn't acticated. (The key didn't exist.) I tried creating the key with value 0 and 1, but didn't help.
I think this must be a bug, because there are a lot of topics about this problem. Unfortuntatly, nobody seems to have a solution for this problem .
I tried changing the registry keys in HKLM/Comn/ConnMgr/Providers/. That worked, because the internet connection was dead then . I think it's possible to work around the problem by changing this keys. I will try that next week and when that really fixes the problem, I'll probably release an application for it.
However, do have some ideas left?
Thanks,
Simon
Bizarre....
I have never seen this on any of the Windows Mobile PDA's I have had.
I know if the connection settings: 'This computer is connected to:' are set to anything other than 'Automatic' then it resets any proxy you configure. I have mine set to 'Work Network' and the settings are never overwritten. I use a proxy at home and remember playing around with these settings as I had similar issues initially.
I know there is a known issue of the 'Hidden Proxy' if you let the device configure itself using the 'Connection Setup'. I have never let my device do this and have manually configured the HSDPA/GPRS settings.
Andy
Hi ADB100!
I've also aborted the connection setup, cause I didn't want my device to use HSDPA automatically.
I'm not 100% sure but I think my old device (HTC S730) had also some problems with the proxy, but I was able to solve them. Maybe it's also a problem with my ROM.
How stable/fast are the current RC builds of 6.5? Are they ready for every day use?
Thank you,
Simon

I haven't tried any 6.5 ROMs for any period of time as they all seemed too buggy. I am on an almost stock 5.2.19212 ROM that I have lightly customised in a kitchen and I am happy with it.
Andy
This is really annoying... When you search the forums for "wifi proxy" you'll get more than 10 threads with the same problem, but without a solution.
You are using a wifi router with proxy at home and it works, right?
I'll upgrade to 6.5 now, maybe this fixes the problem...
Thanks,
Simon

Yes, I have MS ISA 2006 and it works.....
Truely amazing. I've upgraded to 6.5 and the problem is still there :-(. I've the radio from the latest official diamond rom. Could an other radio fix the problem?
//edit: Just to describe my problem further: When I set the proxy, exit the dialog and reopen the dialog, the proxy is there. When I open the internet explorer then, the http proxy gets deleted. However, the socks proxy is kept. This is kind of frustrating...
Thanks,
Simon
Read this one: http://www.htc.com/www/faqs.aspx?p_id=13&cat=0&id=36792 According to this article wifi + proxy should not work. What can I do now?
// Update: This looks extremly promising: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1990412#post1990412 I'll try that immediatly and post the results. If that works, I'll build an application to simplify applying the fix.
Thanks,
Simon
My status is too. Please help me!
It's a bug, that's sure. I finally got the proxy working, but after reconnecting the proxy settings were blank again .
Just to let you know I was also having problems with proxies and a google led me to this thread. For me, the advice in post 2 worked perfectly. I am using a 6.5 rom on a Touch HD.
Hi SivEd!
Did you also have the problem that your proxy settings get reset when you reconnect to the wifi network?
I've written an app that resolves this issue, let me know if you want to test.
Hi Anks!
Please upload your app, this is a real problem for me.
Thanks,
Simon
Simon, sent you a PM.
The problem seems to be fixed in recent Windows Mobile 6.5 builds, at least for me. I'm using build 21812. Unfortunatly, proxy authentification seems not to work in Opera. In Internet Explorer a dialog appears where I have to enter my username and password. Opera doesn't display such a dialog. But the main problem (proxy setting gets deleted) has been resolved.

Leo Weather and Google Maps and (corporate) proxy

Hello all.
I'm searching for a solution to get Weather updates and use Google Maps App behind a (corporate) proxy. Googling and searching in this forum I got that:
Weather app is called Manila and it has no known registry keys to configure proxy
Google suggests to use a Mobile Maps configuration WITHOUT proxy
Now I'm trying to figure out if these apps are made to use a proxy or not, and if they use a proxy, which type of proxy (HTTP,SOCKS) they use, and if they works with NTLM authentication
Anyone can help me?
Hello all, I found the solution.
You must:
set the proxy in the APN configuration
connect to the net via Internet Explorer
fill the username and password in Internet Explorer and SAVE it
that's all
This worked for me with the plain rom.
