Is it possible to delete all sim contacts only? I want to do this and keep my phone contacts then install them on the sim again if that makes sense....
Open "Contacts", then press "menu" and choose "SIM-Manager".
There you can check and delete all SIM-Contacts.

I presume the sim manager is what it says and just the sim card. By deleting all in the sim manager will just dekete sim contacts ONLY!!!!

Yes, as it says -just the SIM Contacts. The phone contacts stay as they are.
But I would synch the contacts with Outlook first, JUST in case that anything goes wrong.
Did that and my contacts list is empty, but all details still showing in sim manager

I don't get this, what exactly have you done and what is the outcome?
You deleted the phone contacts and the SIM-contacts survived or otherwise?

I see, but then you weren't in the SIM-Manager. I just opened it and the phone contacts are unavailable there. You only see the numbers and names that lie on the SIM-Card.
Click on a contact, choose "edit" and tell me what you can do there.
Maybe you did right but just thought you were wrong.

i know this should be very simple but for some reason i just cannot figure this out..i dont use outlook btw. is there any other way to do this... im tryin to upgrade to the new 3g sim without having to manually reenter all the contacts.... anyone?
EDIT. ok so even if i have outlook on my computer, but dont use it for email, can i still use outlook to import the numbers.. then export them back to the phone?
...you can use sqb backup to backup and restore only pim contacts.
With pocketinformant2007 you can beam all your contacts out (as vcards) by BT or IR and use 'receive beam' to import them back...
hmm. i cannt even get active sync to export them using outlook now. basically im screwed?
...sorry, missed your 'edit'. Yes, that's possible...
Use the sim manager to save the contacts into TyTNs memory, then change the sim.

so sim manger >menu > save to contacts will keep the #s on my phone but also the memory card. are you sure??!
...my simcard contains only the numbers of my provider. How did you get all your numbers in, because I can only put in (200) numbers and names, by HAND. For me that isn't a possibility. Or do you've got an more up-to-data manager, i've got version 2.30.0...

Do it, then remove your sim and access your contacts. If they are there, and your sim is not on the TyTN, then your contacts are in TyTN's memory.
From now on, I would suggest you to use the internal memory of the phone, and backup with activesync + outlook, and don't store contacts on the SIM card anymore.

He wants to do it the other way round, that is puting contacts from SIM to TyTN.
...i know he wants them out of sim. I want to know how did he gets them in. Because my sim cannot contain contacts with emailadresses etc. My contactsinfo are embedded in windows\pim.vol. It would be nice to know if he can. It would be a nice place to backup when you want to perform a hard reset...
only the phone number can be stored on the sim, not the whole vcard data. Also the number of contacts you can store is very limited. I won't recommend using the sim as backup.
Anyway, if you still want to save contacts to SIM contacts try using the attached cab.
...cheers...
I like to have all my contacts saved onto my phone so I can add pictures and other info to the contact infromation that it doesnt allow you to do if it is just on the sim card... I also like to keep all my contacts on my sim card in case the phone crashes and I need to pull the sim and switch phones.. here is my problem. Since I have my contacts on both my phone and my sim, they show duplicates in the contacts list. Is there any way to filter out the sim card contacts so I dont have 2 of everyone(1 on phone, 1 on sim)??

Greatings from Frank
Hi, when my contacts are copied from SIM to phone, 191 elements, they become 382 on the hd contacts memory...also verified with SKTools, database function, are 382...obviously this cause caller id problems...thanks
If you copy them, of course, you still have the ones in sim and the ones on handheld... Move them, instead, or disable showing sim contacts (the fastest way is via HDTweak)

also after a soft reset and without SIM the contacts are duplicated:
- deleted all phone contacs with Outlook Contacts, reset.
- copied all contact(191) from SIM to HD with SIM Manager, power off and SIM removed
- The contacts stored on pda are always 382, why?
HTC doesn't have the option of hiding SIM contacts once you copy them to your internal memory which gives you duplicate entries to your contacts folder. HD Tweak can change this. Once installed, run it, and under SIM options, check "hide SIM contacts" and you're on the go. The disadvantage though, is the settings are defaulted once you soft reset your phone, so you gotta have to redo the process again.

thanks but...the contacts are duplicated on the phone memory....also resetting without SIM inserted
sktools did the trick for me
do what other guys said, then use sktools to delete duplicate items and there you are!
good luck!
ps: take good care what you do as long as you can delete all your contacts.
previously make a back-up with pim or similar
already tried with SKTools>Databases>Contact database; Empty or Delete. Soft Reset. After, when the SIM contacts (191 elements) are copied on the phone they result 382...also without SIM inserted and after a second soft reset
sktools - category (lower left corner button) - PIM - duplicated contacts
and so on...
i am not talking about databases
great, now works! thanks!
for some reason they keep saving to T-mobile. not google......
help please?
I'd like to know this as well, stupid T-Mobile. Why do we need our contacts backed up on your servers when Google does it for us.
This should have been posted in General but there is setting under add contact, at the top it says tmobile, right under the name, click he arrow next to it and choose google instead of tmobile and that will fix it. You will have to do it each time though!

While you are on the main page for contacts hit the menu button press more and it will give you a long list of all the contacts. Also if from the home screen you click menu/ settings/ accounts & sync and click on google you can tell it to sync with your contacts. Do this again for Tmobile and you can tell it not to.

The problem is that contacts are tied to EITHER T-Mobile or Google and T-Mobile is the default. All those contacts that were on my SIM card? They all went to T-Mobile. Maybe there is a way to move things around (and en mass), I hope so. Anyone?
I've found this while googling...works for me.
From People - Menu - View. Check Phone and uncheck Google. Then Export to SD card. This creates a vcf file of all the phone contacts.
Go back to View and uncheck Phone and check Google. Then Import from SD card. This imports the vcf file back in under Google.
You may have some duplicates if contacts were in both places. You can simply delete them. You should then be able to sync with GMail.
Once this is done, you should be able to also go back to Menu - View and reverse the check marks again and delete all the entries under Phone since they're now under Google too. Then uncheck Phone and recheck Google, so going forward you're only dealing w/Google contacts.
If you run into problems, you still have the vcf file on your SD card if you need to re-import.
I jus installed RoyalGinger and I can't get my contacts to update. I installed the ROM twice thinking it would fix it. I only seem to get one contact to come up. Im not sure if there is a way to manually do it. Please help
Did u log in to your gmail account?
Yes I logged in just like I do anytime I install A new ROM. It's strange just one person from my contacts comes up.

try
Code:
menu button > settings > account's & Sync > Google Account> contact
I tried that and everything is checked where it should be and still no other contacts are added.
Also should'nt everything from my sim card come up anyway? I just assumed everything on the sim
would always be there no matter what.

Nope. The SIM card is 100% independent from the Google Accounts and on board memory.
Just to make sure I am not confusing anyone. What I mean by contacts is not just emails and names from google. I'm talking about all the names and phone numbers on my sim card. None of those seem to come up. Which is why i'm confused. I allways thought if your phone is in service and you can make calls and use data, you should have access to all the info on the sim card.
Problem solved! I found out that I can go under contacts and export it all to the SD card and then just import all that on the new ROM. RoyalGinger is awesome! I can't believe how much faster my phone got.
