Re-activation after flash? - G1 General

After searching through the forums, I just have a quick question, if I flash a G1 with the mod'd firmware, will I need to reactivate the phone with my gmail account? Additionally is there a way to activate without a data plan? Sorry for the newbish questions....

No, all of your applications and settings remain the same.

Much appreciated for the fast answer!

Rooting RC33 with SIM Unlock?

Hi,
I currently have a SIM Unlocked G1 on the Rogers network in Canada, and I want to root it to install unsigned apps. I've seen tutorials all over the place for rooting a G1, but what I want to know is if I will lose my SIM unlock or not. I already had a close call when I did a factory reset, but a little bit of quick thinking on my part fixed that problem.
I just wanted to find out before I go and have to spend another $20-$30 for another code.
Thanks in advance!

The answer is 'no'. If this wasn't self-evident to begin with (and/or you were too disinclined to use the Search function) then I suggest you NOT root.

What the heck is an "unsigned" app that you couldn't install without root? I have not heard of such a thing.

[Q]

Hello All,
I am new to Android. I am getting my Aira tomorrow, my first Android phone. I use to have HTC TyTn before. I have flashed many ROMs on that.
Can someone guide what should I do first after getting my phone? Means complete factory settings backup using which software? Which other modifications I can make? What will void warranty and what will not?
Is there any guide?
I am trying to read other threads.
Thanks,
Alex
PS: Can anyone tell me how can I activate it without SIM card and / or without data plan?
If you have had experience with a HTC TyTn, then you know that searching XDA Developers will be your best bet to getting your questions answered.
All of your questions have been discussed numerous times in the forum, so you should be able to find all the info you need. To start your customization venture, you will need to root your Aria, which is a very simple process using Unrevoked 3.

If you have access to a WiFi hotspot, you should be able to sign into Google Market without a SIM card using a wifi connection.

Cant unlock

Total noob, so any and all help very much appreciated. I had an issue with my phone not booting, so after lots of tricks and tips I was still stuck in a bootloop. I ended up finding an image and followed the instructions and voila my phone boots, all be it wiped and needing all apps and such installed. However I soon realized my phone is no longer unlocked. so now I cant use my Straight talk sim card. I need help ASAP if possible and more than willing to compensate anyone who can help me get my phone and txt messaging working again. Im pretty versed in PC stuff, as I work in IT, but I have never done any phone moding or flashing until now, so detailed explanations would be great, or if needed we can link up using a remote software program or FB. Thanks!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60690666
If your looking for bootloader unlock it make not be possible depending on software ver and kernel... If you want to look into it I would start here

Meabrams, thanks for your reply but I am not sure what I need at this point. Not sure by what you mean by "big red", is that another site? I wish I could explain to somone over the phone what is going on, but have no resources to contact for this kind of help. I did to the process listed in the link: Tutorial] Unlock ALL bands on xt907 (moto_msm8960) with no success. I will check out the other post and see if I get any further. Any assistance or help you may know of is much appreciated. Im hoping to transfer my phone to temporary straight talk phone until this is fixed, just hope I dont have to send it off to someone.
Edit....Ok my device is rooted (dont know for sure but I have super user installed (full version of SU)) and I can play apps that are not Google approved. I tried the Motopocalypse and cant get any further. Does it matter what version of Android i have? currently this phone is on 4.4.2 BUT I dont really care if it stays on that version...Do I /Can I go back to the 4.1 version I had before? I believe it was the stock version of the phone's android system by not positive as i bought this phone unlocked. I would contact the seller but they have disappeared from ebay.

Flashing Firmware via Fastboot
You mentioned you are stucked at the initial setup screen. This implies that you need to reflash the stock ROM. Please visit this link to read my post containing instructables to successfully flash stock ROM.
Q. Can I unlock bootloader?
No. As of KDA 20.62 15.1 update, the Trust Zone vulnerability has been fixed which allowed exploit to work.
Q. Can I root?
Yes! Head to this thread to root (install SU) on your RAZR.
Q. Can I downgrade?
Unfortunately no! You are stucked permanently with the Kitkat flavour.
US GSM Carrier Unlock
The method is fairly long but easy. Head to the thread here to unlock US GSM carriers which will allow you use Straight Talk.

Gmail account blocked device - what to do?

Hey guys! How are you all?
My dad got an Moto G5 Plus but its locked with some gmail account and we can't put another e-mail.
"device restored, log into the old synced account with this device".. something like that.
How can I solve that?
I've searched the web but couldn't find an answer.
If anyone can help me I would appreciate.
Thank you!
Btw, if the only way is reinstalling stock rom or something like that, that wouldn't be a problem. We don't care about the data loss on this device.
Thanks!

If you bought a used device, ask the person from whom you bought it from to remove his email from the device.
You can do this, or install a custom Rom

Samsung Galaxy S8 SG-950F Root?

Hi, I am planning on buying a samsung s8 from my service provider, however I would like to remove some carrier apps that come with the phone and have no way to remove them without root. Is there anyway to root this device?
Never mind I've answered my own question
https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
Edit: I thought that was going to remove the apps including cache and storage spaces, didn't read enough before replying, so my question still stands, is there any root for 950f? in all honesty it does not have to be permanent as long as I'm able to remove the apps.
