My PM10a cant vibrate - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Sometime... my magician could vibrate, but it very weak vibrating, almost not being felt while in my arms.
My suspect is the vibrator module is bad, so I buy that part without install it in the shop, coz the shop didnt know how to breakdown the magician.
Anyone could provide me the manual how to open the pm10a and change the internal vibrator module?
Thank you

Can't Hear A Thing -- Pls Help

Problem is that, I can't hear a thing when answering calls on my I-mate JAM so I have to connect the earphones everytime. Please advice me on how to fix this problem. Mobile phones repair centers abound here in Manila but I don't want to bring my PPC for repair to just anybody. Would you happen to know of any service center that I can bring my i-mate JAM to here in Manila, Philippines? It's really difficult for me to connect my earphones to my unit everytime just so I could hear the person on the other end of the line.
Thanks in advance for the healp.
My wifes mini does this everytime she drops it. The ear piece area needs to be flicked with the finger to restore it. Somehow the speaker inside looses contact when the phone is banged around. Mabe you can try it. HTH.
Mine (MDA Compact 2, aka Charmer) gave me the other slightly 'better' problem. Instead of the small speaker being dead, the big speaker (that is reponsible for all ringing and speaker phone) is dead. I did drop it (with full leather casing) from knee level onto a wooden floor. It doesn't have any problem for a day or so until the sound disappear as I'm using the speakerphone mode. Now looking for ways to repair it.

earphone problem

ok this is a bit funny
handsfree earphone works,,,but the ear phone in the mda compact doesnt work
the normal sound speaker works,,just not the phone speaker
ok it works stuttery when i press up on the slide switch and i can hear the caller kinda stuttering
wierd software rpoblem i think
its not hardware problem as the slider makes it work,,if i constantly press up o the slider but then i hear the caller and the beep beep it makes to tell you its at full volume
My qtek s110 is doing the same thing after i dropped it, could i have knocked the contacts?
Can anyone explain why the volume slider would make it work.
Cheers
I think its a hardware prob only! Cz if the volume slider is getting the sound volume increased, you guys still couldnt get the full volume right? If so, its probably the speaker or its contacts getting the problem!

solution for no noise problems
Hey guys and girls, I also had problems with “no noise from the earpiece only.. and were puzzled with the problem for few days….until found the reason behind it.
As I am a lover with high-tech devices, I really wanted to fix this problem by myself (not prepared to pay few hundred dollars for repair from technicians).
I also want to contribute something on this site, as I have read great information’s from this site.
Here it goes.
I had this "no noise issue" problem with one of my device (have 2 sets of o2 mini) had no sound on the earpiece only (meaning speakerphone, hands free mic all works perfectly).
Now, to make everything short, I have done a great research with few personal technicians and even official technician from O2 Company and found the answers for this problem.
The fault actually lies with what is called the "Audio Daughter Board". It is a removable internal PCB that the speaker contacts to receive its audio signal from the phone. The board has a connector that is soldered to it which sits on another connector that is soldered to the main board. Both of these connectors can become removed from their respective solder connections usually as a result of a fall or physical impact. Usually all that is needed is a touch up of the solder points.
This Audio “daughter board” is connected with black connector at right hand side only, and the rest of the board with double sticky tape.
Most likely, the black connector has been disconnected to the “daughter board during drop of the device, as you need to solder the parts back (black connector has 14 legs, 7 on the left and 7 on the right) to get your earpiece sound back to normal.
I have done it, so can you (very small legs, so has to have delicate hands).
Now, mine works like a charm…. So happy…
After all, it was neither the programs, nor the legs of the earpiece, but the actual connection between the boards itself.
Hope my information helped.
Cheers
PS: I have updated my device to 2003 second edition with radio 1.13.00 but have no idea where to get pda programs. Can anyone let me know where to find such good programs?
It works!!!! Thanks
Your a genius
Hi im so happy it worked. I bought even a new speaker but this was noit the problem.
The internal speaker is now working but i found another problem with the ring tone liudness which i have to clarify now. So the serach will start again for me.
Again thanks.
Hi need help from all of u.

You really rock m8.
I was very doubfull that this would work. I have tried everything else people has suggested to no avail.
BUT I thought I have nothing to lose in trying you suggestion.
And it worked. It really worked.
Thank you very much.
Sorry for what am i going to say, maybe i did not get things clear...
How on earth can you solder the black connector both on the main motherboard and on the audio daughter board? Am just asking cause my magician had a broken earpiece and when i open it to replace it the phone died. Strange thing is that when i remove the storage card it comes alive again but no sound from the earpiece. So this solution is great although i had to make the question just to know how to handle things.
Thanks guys
Got it guys, the one connector on the main board was detached completeley and got stuck into the other. That is why i thought that it was one piece.
Man , i said to myself how come these people got it soldered , they must all have personal nano robots lol
Update:
Burned the small black connector tha sits on the main rboard
Any chance for someone to know what sort of PCB is this so i can purchase one?
Firts of anything sorry for my inglish but i´m portuguese and my inglish is a litle rusty.
I known there are a lot of people whith this problem and i had to. I tried a lot of things and i find a solution. The major problem of the this is that the black conector don´t conect very well whith audio bord, and i do a trick, so i thake a litle peace of cotton roll in powertape (like one that is on back of keybord) and a put it as way that when e close it make pressure in de audio border conector(in left of earpiece) agaist de front cover.
I hope I can help

Thank you

XDA2 - various problems.

Had my XDA2 running on WM5 for a while now.
Yesterday, I noticed it wouldn't power on - so reset it and when it did power on the battery level warning was showing, even though it had been charged in-car during a long drive. The device felt very warm.
Since then, other issues are appearing. While on a call for example, the backlight started flickering randomly before the screen went dead. Also, the device seems to stop responding to key and screen inputs - although at times it is just extremely sluggish and will actually respond if left for a minute or two. After one reset, everything worked except no sound output - this then worked OK after yet another reset and it seemed to be fine for a few minutes. It is now sitting with the battery out after it crashed following another reset.
Had a search for similar symptoms, but not found much. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I.e. loose connection, memory fault, software issue?
sounds alot more like batt or backu batt issues
Cheers Rudegar.
Will search some more on battery issues.
xda 2 sound and sim problem
Hi!
Plese help me!
I have strange problem with my XDA 2.
I bough it 2 days ago. It was in O2 network.
Now when I unlocked it for my network (polish ERA-GSM) I saw that when I'm calling I cant hear anything. Person from the other sight can't hear me too..
XDA have sound becose I used media-player ando other sound stuff, thats why I think that speaker is ok. Microphone is ok too becose I can record animations with sound. And the cable speaker and microphone works.. so what cind of problem could it be?
1. No sound from main speaker and microphone when I'm dialing. (sound works corret only after hanged call)
2.Cant see any contacts from sim card ;/ (on other phone it is and works perfectly)..
So what should I do now? ;/
Plese help...
I've had simular issues with my xda II also like:
sound would come and go, this would coincide with the storage card also not been able to be seen. In my situation i tracked it to one of the ASCIC chips on the system bord and aplied some arldite glue to set the bord arould the chip regid it still miss-behaves but not as often.

sounds like some expert re-soldering would have been a lot better solution... but the glue now prohibits that and I do not know a safe way to remove the glue...

Board level repair on the Hermes is very difficult. I think you need to take it to a repair shop - but beware of the repair cost, it might be cheaper getting another second hand Hermes.
Not sure why it does not turn on, but it could be many things from a connector cable not fully inserted to a fused component. For this reason again I think professional repair is needed. You could dismantle again and double check all the connections.
The Hermes motherboard is multi-layered and even some repair shops will not tackle it. Some in fact will just quote you for a replacement and that will be very expensive.

Answering speaker - Problem

Hy guys.
I bought this nice HTC Magician and it has a little problem. Speaker at the back of case works very well( I can play music and all), but the small speaker at the front panel( above the screen) for answering the calls doesn't work... You can't hear anything...
When I turn ON Speaker(back side) I can hear the caller, but and everyone around me....
And I can also normaly use it when headset is on...
In the mobile service they said that they have changed front speaker and that problem is somewhere on the motherboard...
Is there any salvation for this...

Assuming the service centre have changed the speaker for a good one, and they have cleaned the contacts on the motherboard, then they are most likely correct that it is a motherboard fault. Quite an unusual fault as normally earpiece speaker problems are either poor contact with the board or a faulty earpiece speaker.
If it is the motherboard, then a repair is not economic and could turn out to be impossible in some cases. Clearly the sound circuit is OK in as much as you get output using an earpiece. However, there could be an amplifier fault or a simple crack in the board connections. Without testing there is no way to know.
You could dismantle and check the connections (often the speaker has springy contacts that touch onto the motherboard). You can tweak them out a little and claen the motherboard contacts. BUT, if you trust the service centre then it would be a faint hope. If you don't trust the service centre (sometimes they give excuses because the job would take too much time for the amount they can charge - particularly on older devices), then you could dismantle (Always risky - unless you are familiar with this kind of thing - it could end up worse than when you start!!)
Mike
Mike, thank you very much...
I supposed that they probably didn't check everything as they should. Because hey're not officialy service or even to have experince with this devices. When servicer saw Magician he said " Oh this is complicated"... That's why I think that they even don't know how to fix the speaker or that they have put ther right one speaker. I didn't want to give them device to testing because I saw that they don't have experince as I said.
So I'm taking it, nesxt week, to service where I know that people are professionals...
I'll give feedback what i've done..
