Just bought my HTC HD in Thailand, shipped from Hong Kong with Italian manuals however the rom is 1.19.831.0 and rom date 11/27/08. Forgive me if this isn't news, I haven't seen anything other than 1.14!
After the diamond i am very impressed. Upgrades to all on screen menus but particularly the quick dialing menu on the people screen makes it almost worth using over the normal phone menu. Someone's obviously been listening to the niggles that were a barrier to immersion with previous HTC products...
No flash out the box tho despite thumb nails and previews showing on certain sites and the battery doesn't look like its as good as has been mentioned but on the whole very pleased after 4 hours play.

I don't know what that all signifies but the fact that when i hang up from a call from an unknown number and it offers me the ability to save to an existing contact (ala most new phones), thus saving the tedium of copy and pasting... i like!
Battery life should improve after a few charging cycles.
I really like to know what has been fixed in v1.19 ROM.
Please can you do a QWERTY test and type really fast in office word and see you get the few seconds delay/lag where nothing responds. This may be fixed in your ROM version?

the major fix was the system response time.
however, if someone with 1.19 rom can check the build # of the Opera browser, it would be good. I have heard rumours that we (end customers) can only get updates to Opera browser from HTC, because for the time being it is very platform specific. ie. if you download the latest build from opera website, it will not fully work with touch HD (looks very very ugly with squished menus and such)

Keep cool, I got ROM 1.14 and it works fine with the hotfix, the other ROMs only fix minor issues, wait until HTC release one ROM with winmo 6.5
I want to go from dutch to wwe. Should I use this or the 114 shipped? What do y think?

There's a lot of differences. The main difference is that the 2.x ROMs are AKU2 - Push e-mail and whatnot. They were supposed to have A2DP as well (stereo bluetooth), but that got pulled in the end. Furthermore it's supposedly more stable, faster, less battery hungry, and has some additional utilities - nicer COMM mamanger, (lame, imho, as it replaces the clock on the Today screen, no matter what) battery meter in the task bar, time in the Date Today item, etc. On the other hand, it has that battery meter in the task bar ( read above on why I think it's lame %) ), the ExtROM can't be edited (yet), there's less space for data, and some users are reporting odd battery behavior.
1.6.7.1 is probably the best WWE (World Wide English) ROM to go with if you're not yet ready to jump to an AKU2 ROM.
I'm waiting for Qtek.nl to officially post their ROM updates and hopefully provide a full list of what's new/different.

I'm currently running the 2.8.7.1 WWE which has worked very nicely without missing calls or sms as I did with the the one that came with the phone. Guess I'll stick with that until a newer WWE comes out that's worth updating to

Hi,
I've been trying to get the MDA Vario to vibrate when I get a new Email message, but it will very occasionally do it and the rest of the time it doesn't. I have ticked vibrate in Sounds and notifications, but its still abit hit and miss.
Can anybody help ?

I have got Pocketbreeze / Pocket weather / TT Navigator 5.21 / Resco 2005 Explorer.
The problem seems to be if the Backlight is on, then it will vibrate. If the Backlight is not on then it will not vibrate for new email, but will still vibrate for new SMS or voice calls.
Im not sure if this behaviour is by design or by fault.
Any ideas ??? I REALLY want the unit to vibrate for emails as its a really good function.

OK - I have just tried some tests on my Wizard. With the backlight on I can receive text & email and both activate the vibration function.
With the device in standby (backlight off), a new email notifies and vibrates but does not take the device out of standby. A new SMS both vibrates and turns on the device.
I don't run any of the apps you listed. Have you thought about upgrading your ROM?

The problem wasn't fixed until AKU 2.3 (maybe 2.2, I don't remember).

I believe it's 2.2, but not sure..I can check for you when I get home and let you know.
Not sure what they released but you can check yourself by going to settings>system>about and looking at the build info. Mine says 14955.2.3.0. The 2.3.0 bit at the end indicates that you have Aku 2.3
T-mobile UK - AKU
The latest T-Mobile UK - Build is 14847.2.0.0
AKU 2.0 - they are a little behind....
but it is certainly a stable build (for me anyway)

Yep, mines 14847.2.0.0 and T-mobile UK took for EVER to release this update, So the gits will prob take another few years to release any other update.
I might have to look at other ROMS. Any suggestions ?

Well I hopped onto the HTC website for some info and was disappointed when it refused my S/N.
I have a UK Orange HTC Touch HD, popped my S/N into the box on the UK HTC website and it rejected it.
It doesnt look like a huge update so I am not so bothered but a bit miffed that its not working.

my UK purchased 'unlocked' HD serial number is being rejected as well, so I cheated http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501583
since when did the UK leave the EU ???
differences i've noticed in using the new rom for about an hour
1) GPS lock is quicker (and i was previously using the latest radio on a stock UK rom) haven't been on a trip yet to test the lag though
2) Phone feels a little bit quicker to respond (but this could just be me)
3) Activesync doesn't seem to start all the time
4) occasionally the first time you go to turn wifi on it doesn't actually turn on and you have to turn it off then back on again (but it does start correctly every time after that)
5) addition of Iplayer as a program and on the internet tab
I'm impressed so far, am very glad that i read these forums first and went back to the stock SPL before flashing though

Do you mean their's an actual iplayer program or is it just a shortcut that opens opera to the iplayer website?
This iPlayer application sounds interesting, hopefully it can be extracted soon.
what I've noticed:
- calendar bug has been fixed, now it starts in monthly view if set earlier.
- active sync doesn't run all times - saves memory -

HTC says: "This is a generic software update. Any additional software or settings provided by your mobile operator or company will be lost. If you require this customization, please contact your supplier first before upgrading."
It's part of the HTC OEM deal that locked operators have to repack the upgrades with their config and branding, and release it via their own website. I assume HTC is simply ignoring any serials that were sold with branded ROMs to avoid people accidentally killing their phones' operator-specific software.

well the flash went without a problem and i ended up with a fresh stock phone (again!)
Manilla: 2.5.20121429.0 Rom: 1.72.110.4 (86525) WWE Radio: 2.07.51.22_2
first thing i did..
CAMERA:
for me..the camera 'flash' timing is spot on! no more washed out images! its taking proper pictures at last!!! (tested in dark room obviously )
MUSIC:
i had about a 1GB of music on my SD-card, all the album art etc etc...time taken to load? about 4 seconds!
SENSE:
scrolling seems smoother, not as jerky as before...
SIGNAL QUALITY:
it hasn't seemed to have 'boosted' signal quality but it does seem more 'accurate', now my HD2, Kaiser and MDA touch all display the same number of reception bars (increasing and decreasing) as i move round the house...before the HD2 was slow to catch up on the drop or increase in signal bars....
So people, what have you noticed about the 1.72 ROM? i will update more as i re-install all the customisations/games/apps etc etc

update: after installing my sprite backup, my appointments/calender entries dont work anymore, an error occured and asked me to send an error report (which i did) is that normal?
so far so good, all my Apps/Games have installed and worked flawlessly including all the sense transparency mods i had installed on my previous stock rom..., re-established my bluetooth connections...all good, made a small video to see what that would be like, and its very smooth...im not sure if thats just down to me having a faster card than stock but hopefuly you otheres can input to this
the TX total landscape mod does not work...
HOTFIX LEO08610-03 navi-panel recently released from HTC, installed fine..although i cant see any improvement yet... stil having trouble getting it out of landscape once the car-kit is disconnected???
FYI for USA users - this ROM is not intended for US Tmobile HD2.

In fact it's my only bug with my hd2 (specialy in the bottom bar), I'm very aware for a fix (decreasing sensivity with bsbtweaks make almost nothing..)
Now just wait for a french release .....
I have a generic UK HD2 but cannot download a 1.72 ROM with my S/N. I would have thought a generic WWE ROM would come out 1st?
Lol, yeah same here. Was psyked when i saw 1.72 then spent the 10 minutes shouting at my computer to make me a generic ROM but to no avail.
im not sure what htc are upto when it comes to the 1.72, i think they've just bowed to pressure from tmobile and 02 to update the HD2 to deal with all the complaints!
i would expect them to release a generic rom in the coming weeks, from my experience so far, the 1.72 has resolved alot of the issues that i was having with 1.43. most notably messaging and camera, battery life hasnt really improved yet, but i'll be conducting some intensive tests this week, the only real complaint i have so far? none yet

i would sit on your hands for abit, wait and see if HTC release a generic 1.72 Rom, or one specifically for your area/carrier
e.g the tmob uk 1.72 rom will not work for u.s tmob phones etc etc
As I am not a HD2 user, Anyone testing this rom out please give responses to the Messaging and if its been further been tweaked to work better with high numbers of msgs? I would be very curious to see about Pulling the Messaging system out and us Poor TP2 users and installing to further improve our MSG client App. So far one person said its better but I'd be curious to hear from other heavy sms users. Just dont want to waste my time cabbing this up if there is really no big difference then the leo8007-07 hotfix.

Yes my HD2 was delivered with the 1.72.172.0 (82124) ROM, Vodafone NL. no complains yet, fast and really smooth working

This is my first foray into smartphone usage and am a little dissapointed with my choice of the HTC Mini HD. Here are my problems and hopefully you might have a solution.
1. When I recieve a text message and I see this on my home screen, I then press on the message to go to reply mode and then when I start texting a reply the message I was sent turns black and i cant see what im typing anymore. I then have to get rid of the keyboard and select in what I had been typing and then i can carry on and see what I am typing. This is such and annoying bug.
2. Sometimes the phone seems slow to respond. I click a menu and there is a slight delay and then it works. Is this a general windows is crap issue?
3. Is there a way to alter the default snooze time from 5 mins?
I hope you can help me out.

Then there's something wrong, take a good look here and compare it with yours, and I know that the wrong ROM.
My advice is go here http://www.htc.com/it/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=314&act=sd&cat=all and download all updates and the right ROM.

It is right, go with the ROM first and then the rest. Some of these updates you need to copy to the SD card and then install them (time, peep, audio).
