Change sms sound

I've upload mystic.wav and mystic.wma to c:/windows folder on my XDA2, but none of them listed in settings > sound&notifications...
tried to soft reset and still no luck, i'm using WM2003SE 2.06 radio 1.18...
does anyone have same problem?
I have not tried to change the sound myself, but I think that if you can identify the .wav file that it's been used by default and then overwrite it with the new .wav (using the same name as the original) could work.
Let us know...

Replacing Messenger sound

All,
is it possible to change the sound in Messenger when a contact goes online ? I have located the sound (Msgbox.wav) in the windows folder however its protected so I cant just replace it.
Any ideas ?
Cheers
Jakob
Just rename the file whichever u want to assign by this same name & then try to replace it with this file .
Ive tried to rename the file but its some kind of system file and protected for changes.
Use file explorer like total commander go to properties uncheck the readme only abd system tabs and then try again.
Tried changing the settings in total commander....but doesnt work :-(

Overwriting system files

on my qtek9100 there are a couple of sounds that i would like te change, ie. the click sound when opening start in the Today screen. These sounds however are sytemfiles. I tried changing the names, deleting, moving. Everything. But it's not possible for me to change the sounds. Does anyone have a good tip on how it is possible to change /delete/ update the systemfiles of the Qtek9100?

Any files in the rom cannot be deleted but they can be overwritten (the file is still there in the rom under the file you just placed on it). It cannot be done with the stock file explorer, use gsfinder (my personal fav) http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1203 or total commander 2
I tried it with TC and tested it by trying to delete a file called Aloutte.mid in the windows dir.
This is a file that's anoying me from the go since it's a music file that I would like removed from my phone. But even TC responded with a message that 1 file could not be removed. As it's a system file. If I want to change the clicksound from start, are you saying I should rename the files first and then copy the desired sound (using the name that the original soundfile uses) to the windows directory? Is that the way to overwrite the systemsounds?

Yes that is the correct way. The only way to silence aloutte.mid is to overwrite it with a silent mid file.

change system sounds without modify rom?

hi,
i´d like to change the system sounds of my niki (running niki project v2) like the ones you hear if you see a warning, tip, etc ( which is alarm2.wav in rom) , without affecting the rom. is that possible? with what software?
thx
can't you just adjust the sounds the normal way?
settings > personal > sounds and alerts
(translated from dutch version)
well, yes but i can only choose the preinstalled ones i cant add them by myself and i cant change the sounds from popups
add the mp3/wav files to \My device\My documents\My ringtones\
(if it doesn't exist, use browser and click on it long.. so a menu pops up and click "use as ringtone")
and then you can select it at "sounds and alerts"
sorry for the terrible explanation .. but i'm just crap at explaining on paper ;D
your explanation is ok but i cant make it the sound for the popups. i dont find an option for that
Name all your personal sounds with the same names as the originals in the /windows folder and overwrite the originals by dragging your personal sounds into the /windows folder. you will be better off doing this via your pc when your pda is connected up as it wont allow you to overwrite the files from the pda's file explorer. back up your original sounds in case you want to restore them later.
yep, that 'lld do the trick too. You can change everysingle sound on your wm phone the.
hooah!
well that was the problem, i couldnt... ill try again asap

System font issues....

Well here it is.........
I've been trying to change my systrem font to "old english text"
I have a cab file for it which works, however it changes absolutely ALL the text in the phone, even renders websites in the new font, which is not ideal...
I uninstalled and tried to use sk tools to change the font, this kinda works however the "start" and softkeybar buttons remain unchanged, which is kinda annoying...
I also tried the reg editing method of changing the font from a how to guide on here.... still the same,, system font is changed however "start" and softkeybar remains unchanged.........
Would anyone be able to alter this cab so that it only changes the fonts in WM and manilla (leaving thing like opera/resco explorer etc untouched)...
or tell me which reg entrys I need to revert to default after installing it...
I tried getting into the cab and seeing what entries it manipulates but couldnt find a way of opening an xml file as text on my phone to see whats in there....
Any help would be much appreciated...........
Thanks in advance.....
Does anyone have a cab to restore the default sytem font......??
I found one via search but it doesnt work unfortuneately.............
Looks like another hard reset looming................
