hi,
i´d like to change the system sounds of my niki (running niki project v2) like the ones you hear if you see a warning, tip, etc ( which is alarm2.wav in rom) , without affecting the rom. is that possible? with what software?
thx
can't you just adjust the sounds the normal way?
settings > personal > sounds and alerts
(translated from dutch version)
well, yes but i can only choose the preinstalled ones i cant add them by myself and i cant change the sounds from popups
add the mp3/wav files to \My device\My documents\My ringtones\
(if it doesn't exist, use browser and click on it long.. so a menu pops up and click "use as ringtone")
and then you can select it at "sounds and alerts"
sorry for the terrible explanation .. but i'm just crap at explaining on paper ;D
your explanation is ok but i cant make it the sound for the popups. i dont find an option for that
Name all your personal sounds with the same names as the originals in the /windows folder and overwrite the originals by dragging your personal sounds into the /windows folder. you will be better off doing this via your pc when your pda is connected up as it wont allow you to overwrite the files from the pda's file explorer. back up your original sounds in case you want to restore them later.
yep, that 'lld do the trick too. You can change everysingle sound on your wm phone the.
hooah!
well that was the problem, i couldnt... ill try again asap

on my qtek9100 there are a couple of sounds that i would like te change, ie. the click sound when opening start in the Today screen. These sounds however are sytemfiles. I tried changing the names, deleting, moving. Everything. But it's not possible for me to change the sounds. Does anyone have a good tip on how it is possible to change /delete/ update the systemfiles of the Qtek9100?

Any files in the rom cannot be deleted but they can be overwritten (the file is still there in the rom under the file you just placed on it). It cannot be done with the stock file explorer, use gsfinder (my personal fav) http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1203 or total commander 2
I tried it with TC and tested it by trying to delete a file called Aloutte.mid in the windows dir.
This is a file that's anoying me from the go since it's a music file that I would like removed from my phone. But even TC responded with a message that 1 file could not be removed. As it's a system file. If I want to change the clicksound from start, are you saying I should rename the files first and then copy the desired sound (using the name that the original soundfile uses) to the windows directory? Is that the way to overwrite the systemsounds?

Yes that is the correct way. The only way to silence aloutte.mid is to overwrite it with a silent mid file.
I've got a strange problem here. Just now, after I backed up the system with resco backup, played around with the system txt size. I noticed that my stock ringtone, "windows mobile" has been changed to "dome" automatically. I took a look at the ringtone settings and noticed that "windows mobile" was displayed as "windows mobile.wma" along with a few other stock ringtone files with exact same symptom. When I clicked the play button, a window popped out saying the file was not available or corrputed. On the other hand, the rest of the stock ringtones which still seems normal (i.e. "dome" is good to be set as ringtone, and it shows as "dome" instead of "dome.wma")
However, when I traced back all the ringtone files to Windows folder, and use WMP to play them, every single file is good to play, not corrupted at all.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is? TIA
PS: I notices that there was a space added (and I can't delete it) after the file name for those "corrupted" tones. For example, Ring-Vison .wma compared with a normal ringtone: Ring-waterfall.wma. I use Totalcommand to access the file but cannot rename it or change the "read only" property.
ok try this.
1) If when you view the file properties in total commander you see a (gryed out) check in "In rom" then
1. Copie the file right in your windows folder
2.you should then be able to remove the read only flag and rename it.
Or if you don't see a grey out check in "In rom"
just try to remove the read only flag and rename. hope this helps you.
i had this same issue with .brn files i was playing around with and it sounds like the same thing. somehow the files where removed from your device so it is now using the files right from the rom...it might not be the case but see what happens.

Uploading to Rapidshare and Mediafire as we speak. Something I'd like would be to implement the Diamond Sound Scheme into our current devices; I vaguely remember being able to change the sound files in the registry... Maybe someone could go through it?

Settings for ring tones are stored under:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories]
E.G.
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring]
"InitVol"=dword:5
"Speaker"=dword:1
"Directory"="\\Windows\\"
"AttenuationCategory"=dword:2
"DefaultSound"="Ring-WindowsMobile.wma"
You can just copy the files to your windows folder and select whatever you want in sounds/notifications. No need to change the registry.
I have this ringtones already in my Cruise, and my question is how can i degrease the volume?? even when u set the tone volume at "0" it still sound? and if u have 2-3 the volume is very loud, how came? any solution for that?
i copied the sounds folder to the root of windows, but havent found a way to use them from sound notifications

That is strange. Once in the Windows directory, you should just be able to go to Settings>Personal>Sounds and Notifications.
Select the 2nd tab on bottom. For each item (e.g., Incoming email..) you can select a sound from the pull down. All sounds from the Windows directory should be listed there. If not, maybe it is a format issue (e.g., wma vs wav vs mp3).
maybe i need to rename the folder? i copied the folder, should i copy the rings directly to the win directory not in a folder?
for incoming call ringtone the file should be in wmv format and can be everywhere even in storage card..
for other tones the file should be in wav format and be directly in windows folder

Check the registry ...and sometimes it looks into my documents/my ringtones folder might work for some registry setting
Put only the wav sound in windows root then u can see them in notification settings. wma files u can put in windows rings folder or, device->my documents->my ringtone
alright thanks all, its working
You have to extract the sound files from the folder and copy them to your windows root folder.
cool... now i got a sms alert tone
I'm not able to set the volume of .wma Diamond's ringtones in my Touch Cruise...
How can i do?
How can I change the SMS sound??
I tried to replace the original file in the windows directory, but it doesn't work
Any Ideas????

Sorry my Friend, but in this Tread is for Magician Phone, not for Prophet.
Beste Regard's
You can change this from:
Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications Tab
In this tab select Messaging: New text message on Event choice.
Now you can select a new sound on Play sound choice.
Grettings
Thanks
It work's that way
if you want to add other sound
@ Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications Tab
you can copy a wav file and paste into windows folder (device storage),
thx
Where do i go to add Notifications tones on HD2-WP7
PLZ help
Im trying to edit the registry to enable custom sms tones etc. right now... I think this is the only way to do it currently.
Using the registry editor I found HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\LocalizedNameMap
this is where all the alerts and alarms are set up. However the reg edit doesnt allow to change value name which points to the file name...
Got to http://touchxperience.com/ and there is a few tools you can download, but i use there advanced config tool. Have a look and see.
I read somewhere that you could sync files to the device using Zune and then move them using touchxplorer. I believe that you have to rename wma files and then overwrite the existing notification sounds in windows directory.
