Has anyone been able to change the font size of Jbed applications like Opera Mini?
Opera Mini is very fast browsing so being able to enlarge the font size will be really helpful. Likewise for gmail midi application. Apparently, in the Diamond forum they have managed to enlarge the fonts of Esmertec Jbled but I have not fully understood how.

Hello!
i use opera mini because it is faster then opera for ppc, and because it downloads low ammounts of data (wich is good because i only have 30MB per month).
i would like to have a true VGA screen resolution when using opera mini.
i have installed SpB Tips&Tricks and Tweaks 2k2 and both offer support for VGA brute force. i just have to browse to the main *.exe file and those programs do the rest.
the problem is that i can't find the main *.exe file.
where is it installed. on the PDA memory or on the card?
why can i only see the MIDlet Manager icon?
is this the only way that java programs can be installed on ppcs?
how can i use VGA res with opera mini?
or do you know a different program as economical as opera mini, but not based on java?
big thanks in advanced!
programfiles/opera
could you be more specific?
there is no opera folder in my programfiles.
i am talking about opera mini. i don't even know where it is installed.
it is not opera 8.60
afaik, java programs user the .jar extension not .exe. So I guess forcing it to use True VGA won't work.
Yup, it';s a Midlet, it can't be forced.
owever, what Midlet Manager are you using? The default Tao intent? It's already hi-res capable on VGA devices (as opposed to, say, earlier, 5.7.x-series IBM J9's) - you will NOT want to force it into VGA.
hello,
isn't there a way to make opera mini, gmail and other midlets run with cleartype (font smoothing).
i heard opera mini (hifi version) in general supports font smoothing - but not on WM.
i also know, that for example J9 AWT-apps support cleartype on WM.
so we have a java engine that supports cleartype on WM - shouldn't it be possible to run our midlets - opera mini for example - with cleartype ?
thank you.
damn -- no answer to this??
I found this thread via search...
just giving this a small bump as a solution would be great.
I just got my Advantage X7501 and am really enjoying it. I installed the JBED Midlet server and Opera Mini but can't configure it to display the whole web page (overview) then allow me to zoom in and out as on my Treo 700wx. Can someone please explain what I need to do to enable this functionality on the Advantage?
thanks.

Opera Mini 5 Beta has been released!!!!
Tried installing it on my Ozone using the Esmertec Jbed Java App and opera doesnt work.
So, un-installed it, installed the Rose JBed ver 20080808 - found here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438581
And so far so good... I think I like Opera Mini 5... we'll have to see though.
Now just working on creating a new shortcut for it
Edit - here's the shortcut to launch Mini 5 automatically, you just have to use the Rose JBed above and install it to your storage card.
Cool
Thanks for that Jbed to run it. Works pretty good but I put in a bug report about Jbed 20090216.5.1 so hopefully we can get it working on that one too.
thanks for the info. it looks much more slick than v.4 I don't know whether I like the cursor thing. I am used moving from field to field with button press.
I can't seem to sign into gmail. I have to play with it more.
...for some reson it's acting strange on my Snap....when I push the "a" on the keyboard, it reads it as "g" in Opera. It makes getting into my yahoo mail kinda problematic
I use Opera because it's FAST. Anyone have any opinions whether the new beta is as speedy as version 4.2?

haven't actually clocked it, but 5 seems faster than any previous version so far for me. The interface and tabs are very slick and snappy. now for that skinny unreadable font...apparently jbed rose is all it will run on atm, so I've been messing with my registry trying to change fonts...but all I've managed to do is change the environment font, opera still uses its same ugly proprietary font no matter what.
Obviously I'm digging in the wrong place...can anyone direct me to the correct registry or xml file to change the app font?

Use JZ SmartMort. In the JZ Settings program: General Tweaks / Hacks -> JBed Java -> JBed Font Sizes. Mess around with them to your content.
Before you do that though, do take a look at the font settings within Opera Mini itself: Settings -> Font size
is anybody else having issues when typing any letters that also have numbers on them? ie. 'q=1','w=2','e=3', etc (on OZONE). Its acting like i have num lock on and its not actually typing in the letter, instead it works like a keypad on a dumbphone so i have to tap W/2 twice for a B.. this happens for all the number keys which makes this browser unusable!
please help!
Found this out when going thru the HD2 Q&A sub-forum. Opera released OMini 5.1 the other day. Enjoy.
Opera Mini 5.1 for Windows Mobile is here!
The long-awaited Opera Mini 5.1 for Windows Phone 6.5, Windows Mobile 6, Windows Mobile 5, and Windows Mobile 2003 based handsets has finally arrived. We have worked days and nights to improve on every aspect of the browser and make it integrate even better with the Windows Mobile platform. Some highlights include default browser functionality and a completely rewritten IME solution that taps directly into the device's own input method. A big thanks to all our users on Windows Mobile who have waited so patiently for this release.
NEW FEATURES
- Ability to set Opera Mini as default browser on the device.
- Support for g-sensor screen rotation on HTC and Samsung devices.
- Support for predictive input if the device supports it natively.
- Improved page layout on high-resolution screens.
- Improved kinetic scrolling.
- Use HQVGA skin for devices with less than QVGA resolution.
- Installer is now signed with VeriSign so Opera Mini will be a trusted application on your handset.
- Alternative installer that works on Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC devices.
- Advanced configuration in registry for power-users (see here for more information).
BUG FIXES
- Multitap input is working on 'classic' keypad devices.
- Input is working on qwerty keypad devices by Samsung and Amoi.
- Keypad shortcuts working on more devices.
- Ability to download files to memory card.
- Clock in Opera Mini is correct in all time zones now.
- Spanish locale is correctly detected.
- URLs and downloaded files can be passed to other applications as a platform request.
- Many bug fixes in Opera Mini browser core for stability and rendering accuracy.
NOTES
- Opera Mini 5.1 will be installed in parallel with Opera Mini 5.0 beta if the latter is already installed on your device.
- Opera Mini 5.1 will not import existing user data from Opera Mini 5.0 beta. Please consider using Opera Link to bring over bookmarks and speed dials to the new version.
- When set as default browser, Opera Mini 5.1 will not be the default viewer application for html files or other web page related files that may exist locally on your device.

Does 5.1 support pinch-to-zoom?
How is it better than Opera Mobile?

i have always used mini in mobile view but iirc when a page is zoomed out it'll auto zoom to wherever you tap on the page. i don't think there is pinch to zoom.

I like it because it's faster & I just like it a lot better. Give it a try & see how you like it.
can you tell a big difference between mini 5.1 and mobile 9.7
BSBtweaks has a tweak where you can enable pinch to zoom on just about any program.
