Hi All,
I don't yet own an XDA but am looking to buy an XDAII in the next couple of days. I have a question, for which I have tried searching for the answer but to no avail which is. Is it possible, using an XDAII to connect to a LAN via a machine with a USB BlueTooth adapter and browse other LAN connected machines. In a similar way to clicking on Network Neighbourhood from an normal LAN attached PC viewing other PC's shares ?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob.
Hiya,
I'm also interested in finding this out, is there anyone who knows the solution?
Regards,
Chris
I don't know about performing it over Bluetooth, but it is certainly possible to do it with Wi-Fi using a program called Pocket LAN. In fact, I connected from the car park to my local B & Q store and was able to see all their PCs and printers connected to their network using that method. I was tempted to try and send something to one of their printers, but thought better of it. As to bluetooth, I guess it should be possible providing the machine your trying to connect to is routing IP requests onto its LAN.
Tell us where that B&Q was
I couldn't find Pocket Lan through Google?
Do you know where I could get it? I'll happilyb trade you a beta fo Pocket WiNc for it?

Hi friends
Pardon me if this has been explained elsewhere, I did a search but due to the ubiquitous nature of the search terms, I could not find a plausible solution.
Is it possible for me to access the files in my wireless laptop with b/g connectivity using 1) Imate SP5 with wireless b or 2) over 3g connectivity with my Samsung Blackjack II (no wifi)? I know about Orb etc, but I am more interested in using the native clients for networking rather than install third party apps. Both phones are running WM 6, laptop has Vista Ultimate. Laptop is connected via WiFi WPA to home broadband router.
I am mainly looking to play my mp3 files using the phone via headphones and to play an occasional DVD using the laptop's drive and watching it on the phone.
Thanks for reading
Regards
you should be able to connect via wifi or gprs using the built-in file explorer. Try 'menu' 'open path'
You should use Orb to do that. If you are under Vista and you have a TV card, you will even be able to stream DVB-H TV.
Go to www.orb.com
Thanks SToNeD, but as stated in the OP, I do know about Orb and have tried it in the past. I am trying to utilise the inbuilt resources of the phone for an occasional movie/music streaming, rather than running the resource hungry Orb 24/7 in my PC.
Awaiting further suggestions please
Ok people, I got my DHD today and I have been searching the boards and the net for information on how to use the DNLA feature either with my ps3 or my windows 7 pc, theres drips of info here and there but nothing solid.
Could someone plaes explain what I need to do to be able to stream videos recorded on the DHD to my tv through my ps3 or point me in the direction of a step by step guide???
Im not even sure how to turn the Dnla feature OF the phone on
Thanks for your help,
Lee.
Hey
Hadnt noticed this thread i just posted a similar thing...
i think dnla is automatically on, its that media connected app on the dhd.. but it dont find my ps3 when its on lol!
I got my DHD today too and cant get the ps3, xbox 360 to work at all, not without downloading twonky media server from the app market but that defeats the purpose of having it built into sense. any help in getting this up and running would be very much appreciated. btw first post on these forums after years of reading them.
I've spent a few days searching on here and the wider internet for help but haven't been able to find the info I need.
The Goal: I have my stereo hooked up on the opposite side of the room to my laptop. I want to be able to plug my Leo into the stereo to play music, either from the SD Card, internet stream or PC stream, and then control the Leo over the WiFi network so I can stop\start or change streams.
I have tried installing "droid VNC server" on the phone and a vnc client on my laptop. Droid VMC server appears to work but when I try and connect it just times out. I have read that Droid VNC Server does not work with droid phones (I presume they mean Motorola) but I can't see any mention of anyone trying it with Android on a Leo. Has anybody been able to get it working? I think part of the problem is the amount of time the network just drops before freezing but I understand those issues are being worked on and I hope a fix is found soon.
If Droid VNS Server does not work has anybody got any suggestions for controlling the Leo remotely over WiFi?
Once that works has anyone also got any recommendations for decent streaming apps?
I'm running the Shubcraft build with CyanogenMod 6.
Hello everyone,
I thought it would be most appropriate to post this in the general section as i think many people must b looking for such an application (Source-searched over web)
I would appreciate if someone could suggest me an application that can make our phone a wireless Audio receiver for our PC. I read a thread where we could suggest which apps we want but could no longer find it.
i read it somewhere that 'dlna/ALLSHARE' can do it but didn't quite figure out how..
if there's any other app it would b great to know..
TNX
You could also use gmote which for me is faster than allshare....their website has the instructions!
....This is an automated message......
Tnx everyone but tht's not what i need.... i need an app that can stream PC's audio to our phone ...making it more like a wireless headset (when the ear plugs are plugged in ) !!!
Also, I've the ALLSHARE server installed and running on my system...but still the app can't detect it
vlc direct. You play what you want to your pc vlc player and it streams it to the phone. Try it and if you have questions let me know.
