Hi. This is my first post here. Got my HD for about 2 weeks ago and love it, but one thing that bothers me is the status icons: Battery, signal wlan etc.
Now, on a device that looks as stylish and sleek like the HD, it's a shame to have those icons that looks like 1979....
I have the S2U2 app installed and really like the icons that are visible on the unlock screen. Is it possible to get these (or equal) to be on the top bar all the time?
Can i somehow skin this myself, and how? Where are those icons represented on the device?
I never tried it, but I think you can skin the taskbar with this software:
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/products/pocketpc/WisBarAdvance/
Thank you for your answer. But isn't there already something out ther that is a bit more easy? I have seen other HD screens here with changed icons. How did you guys do?
(BTW, i dpn't know i "skinning" is the correct term. I want these icons to be visible INSTEAD of the old ugly ones. I don't want something running "on top" of the default icons. I'm looking for a REPLACEMENT.)
i believe you're looking for something like this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437307
Thank you mouki_9.
I will try this.
I'd like the top bar from the S2U2 settings - but I can't find any way to do that...
Any ideas?

Hello there,
i think i saw a cab recently which made the slider shady transparent like in home tab, in all tabs. cant find it though. anyone has?
come on anybody must have seen this one.
look for NoCurtains.cab
i think that's what u meant...
No it isn't. You know the Slider is slightly shady transparent in the Home Tab and in all other Tabs it's solid. I am really sure I saw a tweak that makes the slider this shady transparent in all tabs.

Actually I don't think that's possible - but I might be wrong...
Yeah I am REALLY sure I saw this last week and thought it "hey looks trashy with white manila anyway" and left it out. Now I have black manila again and now I want it
Glass slider?
Is this what you're looking for?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430287&highlight=glass+slider
No sorry this one is completely transparent, which looks strange in Image and Program Tab, because the content gets cut off at the bottom.
Well, guess I must have imagined that one. But I could swear I saw it.
That's exactly what it looks like with glass slider and no curtains installed. Program shortcuts in programs tab and images in image-tab gets cut off about half way down the tf3d-icons. Looks abit strange. In other tabs like the settings-tab the settings go all the way down to the bottom of the screen, behind the tf3d-icons.

Exactly and thats why i do not use the completely transparent slider, and that is also why the slider is solid in all other tabs normally. If it was possible to make it that half transparent like in home tab, it should look quite okay though.
I think you want the bottom bar semitransparent, not the slider.
Well, i did not mention that anywhere, did I?
ow. ok.
I was looking for this as well. Would be very grateful for this.
Hey, I've been using 6.5 for some time now and I think it looks real nice and sleek, but one thing keep annoying the hell out of me; the clock icon. It's just really ugly and sets down the overall impression of the today screen.
So my question is, is it able to be changed to a better looking clock icon?
Thanks in advance

The icons for the panels are in bronzeres.dll, I use PE Explorer to change the images, go to view -> resources
Well does anyone have any nice looking images that they have used to replace it with?
yeah, could someone post a dll file with a better looking clock?
I'm probably preaching to the noobs here since most of you seasoned veterans should already know all this. I just thought I would contribute something by consolidating a couple of easy tricks.
Sure, there are numerous themes out there. But these days, there's so many versions of Manila that it can get frustrating to find which theme works for your ROM. So, here's a couple of tips to personalize your device regardless of Manila version.
1. Make your taskbar more interesting and useful
There's really no reason to stick with the default WinMo taskbar. It's bland, boring, and you can only see battery level in 4 increments. There are numerous custom taskbars out there but I find this one the most eye-pleasing to me. Brian's Taskbar
2. Make your wallpaper visible on all tabs of Sense. And don't let landscape orientation mess up the image.
If you use Manila/TouchFlo3D/Sense, don't bother setting your wallpaper via the Settings tab. Your wallpaper will look alright on your Home tab in portrait mode. But you won't be able to see your wallpaper in your other tabs. And if you switch to landscape orientation, your wallpaper will look horrible. This tool solves all these problems. You can also use a completely different wallpaper for landscape if you choose to. HDWall
(The program is easy to figure out. Take the time and patience to do so. It is worth it.)
3. Keep your Today background beautiful in both landscape and portrait orientation
Those of you who use the default Today screen (instead of Sense, Mobile Shell, etc) will know that you set your wallpaper by doing one of the following:
Option A:
-go to "Today" settings
-toggle on "Use this picture as the background"
-tap "Browse" and then select the image file.
-tap "OK"
Option B:
-open the "Pictures & Videos" application
-Browse to the image file and open it
-Tap "Menu"
-Tap "Set as Today Background..."
-Move the selection area according to your own preference.
-Keep transparency level at 0% (This is an odd setting. I can't fathom a reason for not setting it at 0%)
-Tap "OK"
Rather than using a 480 by 800 image. Try using an image that is 1333 by 800 (width by height).
For WinMo 6.5 users who use HTC Sense, this tip still applies to you. This affects the lockscreen image and the background image of the Start Menu.
Awesome! Thanks! Yes there are noobs out there (...me). I definitely appreciate this. Can't wait to try it out!
Thanks, I am a noob and am trying to decipher all these options. Maybe there can be just series of Noob Stickies...?
And I thought I would find out about lipstick and thong undies here...
I just use an 800x800 image... works just the same.

You're absolutely right. If you use an 800x800 image, the wallpaper displayed will not be scaled down and will be shown in full resolution.
However, here's the reason why I suggested using a 1333x800 image:
See the first attachment named 800x800jpg.
The blue represents the part of the wallpaper visible to you in portrait mode.
The red represents the part of the wallpaper visible in landscape mode. (Of course, imagine that the red extends behind the parts covered by blue in the middle.)
But as you can see, there's some chunks of white areas. Those parts of the image will never be displayed.
If you use a 1333x800 image, every pixel will be displayed in landscape mode. See 2nd attachment named 1333x800.jpg.
800x800 vs 1333x800
I agree entirely with the post above (very useful illustrations).
The only thing I would point out is that the 800x800 wallpaper misses out the corners of the picture in both orientations, whereas the larger wallpaper misses nothing out in one, but huge amounts in the other.
So I think it all depends on the composition of the picture really - if most of the picture is interesting then go for 800x800, if the best bits are in the centre third then go for the larger dimensions.
Of course it also depends on which orientation you spend most time using your phone in...
Just what i was looking for since Energy changed taskbar icons.
Brian's Taskbar looks awsome on the phone and ALSO seemed to make many other icons look more stylish such as storage card and folder icons. Im sure i will run into more stuff from this. Thanks
I have to say thanks for this post. I was unaware of another stable taskbar aside from Tsowen's work and Brian's definitely rocks.
Great post. I'm not exactly a noob, but I haven't spent any quality time with my phone for the last couple of months. I was waiting until some of the bugs got worked out on the programs I was hoping to use. And besides, hubby just got a Verizon Palm Pre so it renewed my interest in making my phone that much better than his.
Your directions were so complete and easy to use. My phone looks great now. That 3rd step was one I hadn't thought of. Last night I installed Brian's taskbar and HDwalls. The wallpaper looked wonderful. I thought I was stuck with the default background for the start menu until I got up this morning and tried your step 3. Now I'm a very happy camper. Thanks for the effort you took in writing this post.
Maybe a bit of a silly question, but I love those tomatoes on the lock screen. Is there any possibility that you could post that picture here?
Thanks in advance
Thanks! was looking to change the default taskbar, but didn't know how.. now i do
BTW: also like the tomatos!

would be helpful if you mentioned what ROM you're using and what taskbar is causing you difficulties....
WM 6.5
Rom 1.86.415.2 (67102)
and i tried both brain's taskbar and spike's
few min ago i used another Brain taske bar
(New_F_ Brians WM6.5 Taskbar gfreek edition V5a.cab)
it works without a bug in the signal icon , but i'm not lovin the icons really niko's were much pleasant for me, especially the start icon its not the htc logo
also i have another question my friend, which i chose to show clock on taskbar , it used to show it in any running program but not in the Home screan and it's taps , which is logic
since i update the Rom and the clock in the task bar shows in the Home screan and make the battery disappears !!!!!
even when i installed this brain taskbar also the clock removes the battery icon from the home screan
Hi,
I have a ROM with Windows Mobile 6.5.5, and it has a smaller topbar (With time in it and stuff like that) and a bigger bottom bar then the older version of Windows Mobile.
It's almost like the one of HTC HD Mini, but it does not have the glass effect, behind the softkeys, its just black.
Is there any way to get a glass effect exacly the same as in HTC HD Mini for the bottom and top bar?
I have seen it already in other ROM's, so I think there must be a cab/theme for it aswell, but I can't find it anywhere.
Or maybe someone could make a cab?
Much thanks in advance!
Greetz,
Joshoon
You need to find a theme that matches what you are looking for.
Maybe Dusk Themes?
Also get's rid of stock windows wait cursor and replaces with a Black scolling bar.

Anyways, I desided yesterday to make my own theme,
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=662186
See if you like it. It is White Metal 2.5 2013 for a 6.5 build. Tell me what you think.
Also including a different contact icon if you want it. Not necessarry but a different style in case you do not like the contact tab with the human outline.
I am running mighty rom Windows 6.5 with Manila 2.5.2013
I was not happy with the centering of the Calendar date on the tray icon-so I included a cab with the fix.
Facebook Tab. You must already have the tab in order to use this. I installed it from Meltwaters and then alterred his manila for tabs
lubbad85, you are my hero! I have been looking for this everywhere. I don't know why but for some reason I've liked this style of slider ever since I've seen it on another carrier's phone.
I installed it asap and I like how it works! It works like a charm, I love it. Great job lubbad85, you rock! The only thing I would probably do is just better the screen icons when you change to a different tab on the slider. Those stock white ones will do but I would just see if I could replace them with any other better icons. Just my personal opinion. Other than that, you created a beautiful slider!
Quick question, I'm running C0okie's Home Tab. How does that extra notification bar appear? (The one on top of the actual sider)

In the options for cookies home tab you can put the extra notification bar. I think under miscelaneous The bar is a bit redundant though.
Glad you like the slider. Give me an example of what kind of slider you really want. If you give me a direction I can build one. Manila is very forgiving. If you screw it up you have only to delete the manila file that you put into windows and the phone's ROM will build it back the way it was before the new manila was used.

I got it! Thank, yet again! As far as the slider goes, it works like a charm! I really don't have any other suggestions for it as of right now. Maybe later as time goes by and I think of something. But if you implement any improvements or make any changes to it please post it up, I will gladly test it out. Thank again!
lubbad85, I found a small little defect that you might consider. When I slide to a desired tab on my touch flo, I find that the tab icon I chose has a blurry icon. It looks like as if there is another lighter icon behind the primary icon. It's just a little annoying and tends to cross my eyes after a while. lol. Check it out in the attachment to understand what I'm talking about.

My ROMs won't be updated before August if someone doesn't find some critical bugs
This slider really fits the "old" Sense 2.5 skin, however it has got some images that could be a bit more polished... Ach, and some icons could be a little re-sized, because they aren't this same size. Anyway overall the experience is great! So keep up this wonderful work, first time that I like something that isn't made by ShowTime7.
right.

You're going to run the .cab file from your storage card and install it onto your device when prompted to. Immediately after the slider is installed it is going to ask you to restart so the changes can take effect. You hit "yes" or "ok" (Not sure which option it gives you) Then, once the device restarts and turns on, the slider will appear and should be already installed automatically. You shouldn't have to do any other additional setting changes after you restart so the slider takes effect.
Hmm I installed all 3 cabs and it just told me "white metal 2.5 2013.cab was successfully installed on your device" (same thing with the other 2) but it didn't prompt me if I wanted to restart the device.
Any ideas why? this blue at&t theme is ok but this B&W Metal theme looks amazing.

Two ways to install. One is you first turn off sense
1. start menu
2. settings
3. today screen
4. items
5. uncheck htc sence
6. install cabs
7. and then go back and check htc sense
Or install the cabs and then soft reset

You just want the sense tab-in other words you already installed the other files neccessary for the tab? So just the tab icons?
If so here is the cab for just the tab sense icons in white to match the set. I cannot test it since I have not installed the control files for this tab.
