what i did was pop in my sim card then the auto configuration loaded up. After that I had to restart the phone then I was good to go.

Thank you... mine doesn't seem to auto load the settings... I wonder what gives?

I actually had to call to give the my imei details then i was up and away.
it detected my settings the att guy said user/pass wasnt used anymore blanked that out but the rest of the settings were fine

you need to go to start/settings/phone/network
click on find network and that should start the auto config

Same here...
Just slid in my Sim card, turn the X1i on..
Pop show up asking to setup for AT&T...
Do you have the "Generic UK" rom??
Stuart

mine also auto configured when i first put my sim card in. i have an x1a. i found out that my internet connection wouldnt work when i powered down my phone. i had to re configure my networks settings again. now i dont power my phone down when i want to turn off my phone. i just use the communication manager to turn off the phone.
any one else notice that... that is if they power down the phone using the button, that after turning back on, the internet isnt working anymore (onboard internet or my bluetooth dun for tethering doesnt work after powering down unless i re auto configure my phone network settings).

No problem with powering my X1i down at all......
Can connect to both wap and isp access points without a problem..

installing rom wwe1.72 on mda 2 help!

i have recently installed the 1.72 rom everything seems to be working fine ,but i cannot turn of my connection once i connect to bthe internet gprs...im sure i forgot to do something someone plz help..!
Not sure why you want to turn-off your GPRS connection, its should not worry about it, you have unlimited GPRS if you live in USA with T-Mobile coz I do (if you pay $4.99, $9.99 or $19.99)
BUT if you still need to turn it off, just tap the signal bar and you should be able to disconnect your connection. Hope this help...

telstra hd2 using 3 simcard (hutchinson)

sorry if this has been discussed. its been hard to search b/c the search engine continues to delete "3" from my searches.
basically, i was wondering if people had any issue with 3 sim cards working in the telstra hd2?
my friend has got several hd2 phones from telstra and is offering to sell me one. he assures me the phone is unlocked as well.
we tried plugging my 3 sim card into his telstra hd2 and for some reason i wasn't getting any reception. tried a vodaphone sim and it worked.
i currently have an omnia and know how to change all the mms, internet etc settings but is there something i need to do with the telstra hd2's setting to find 3's 3g network for voice calls?
thanks for any help you guys can provide me.
Technically there shouldn't be any issues with reception. Your friend might have locked his phone to WCDMA 850MHz though, which is a band that only Telstra transmits on. Check his baseband setting.

that is what i was thinking as well, the question is now:
how do i check his basband settings? unfortunately i don't have the phone on my now, but is it is pretty straight forward? i.e. going into settings -> baseband etc?
Open the Comm Manager by tapping the notification area and then on the network reception button. Tap on "Phone" then its on the bottom- "Band"

I have a Telstra HD2, that I bought a week ago, and am using on 3.
The phone is unlocked, and should auto setup when powered up first time with your 3 SIM card in it.
I used it a few days with stock rom, then flashed to another.
A few things to do.
Probably best to do a hard reset of phone, with SIM in, and let it reconfigure and start. (to hard reset, hold down the VOL UP and VOL DOWN buttons while turning on, and follow the instructions)
When all done, set locale, time, etc
Need to set the voicemail number (333)
Need to change connections to use PLANET 3, and not MOBILE INTERNET
Planet 3 homepage on the mobile should be HTTP://THREE.NET.AU (no WWW)
As it uses 850 when in country, it will roam on data on the Next G network (I beleive), and would be referred to by 3 (if they had it) as a MEGA MOBILE (tho you would want a BIG bank balance if ya gonna data roam on Telstra)
I am in Perth, and no probs with it with 3

Just open the back case and softreset to get it back to normal.
On 3 with a Telstra HD2 also. Works perfectly normal, but I flashed out of the Telstra ROM - running Miri16 atm, works fantastic
One thing with three.net.au is that it doesn't recognise the HD2 in some places, hence I have wordsmith's Opera Personality Switcher to mimic an iPhone.

Also, i have started having issues with Email on 3 critical error, and problems trying to identify the device.
Im about to flash to the latest NRG rom, been using April1 version and now will load May1.
thanks

Hi Ali+htcHD2,
I believe that you have your 'network settings' configured to WCDMA only.
Go into your Comm Manager > Phone Settings > Menu > Netowrk Selection > Band > Select your Network type > Auto
Do this for both drop down menu's on that page, and then hit ok.
This should fix your problem!

Hmm... How do I enable data connection (HSDPA)?...

Just got my sgs today, and it's using UMTS by default. as long as I don't have my wi-fi enabled, it won't access the internet... What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.
Check your APN configuration.
Thanks - but I've already been there. APNs menu is empty.
Maybe a firmware defect?... the device's certainly using UMTS for voice calls, so there's no reason I won't be able to use data connection.

But that's the point, it shouldn't be empty.
You have to add APN settings yourself. In Access Point Names click Menu -> New APN
OMG... I'm such a n00b!
I thought this should be configured automatically from my SIM card, thanks again.

not all SIM cards contain that information.
specially if you have been using the same SIM card since 2000 like i've been.
supposedly some newer SIM cards will have that info pre-programmed but... it's not compatible with all the phones anyways, so why bother.
i don't mind entering the APN settings by hand.

Hi I have this same problem. APN is empty. I can add new APN but what next?? How will I know what settings to use, or to put in there. My network is O2 Ireland. Can any one help me?
Edit: I found settings i needed but unfortunately my internet still doesn`t work! What could be the reason?
Try this link, all UK networks
h**p://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
But those settings are for UK.
I`ve found correct one for Ireland O2.
Only Zedge and market is working. Internet doesn`t.
Once u're finished configuring your APN, restart your device. I wasn't able to access the internet using HSDPA (even though the icon showed up) until I restarted it.

Wind Mobile MMS Settings

I've tried various APN settings in an attempt to get MMS working on Wind Mobile, but have had no luck.
Anyone have confirmed working settings for Wind?
Is Auto Internet setting working in your phone? My unit came with grayed out Auto Internet setting, so I flash the firmware to UK Generic, and that fixed it...

No, says its not available with my sim.
The first comment on this Wind Mobile community board thread has both data & MMS settings. They're talking about the N1 but the X10 if not the same should be close enough to be able to figure out where the settings go.
http://www.windmobile.ca/community/ideas/detail/20860/
Tried it. Still no go.
Have you contacted Wind? I am sure someone there will reach out and help you! Or contact Mcanns he seems to have an inside line there..

Dude same here! I got an unlocked g2 and data works fine but not mms.
I tried so many different variations of settings floating around and even wind couldn't fix it for me.
Don't know what to do now. Maybe gonna go into a store...

[Q] HD2 Nand Android Radio Issue

Hey all, today I unlocked a UK O2 HTC HD2 and I'm now using it with a T-Mobile SIM which is great - calls and texts are fine. However I cannot use my mobile data connection which (I think) is because I need another radio flashing. Is there any way of doing this through mAGLDR/cLK (as I don't have the original WP6.5 ROM and my laptop refuses to use the RUU to restore WP6.5 on my phone).
Also I'm not 100% certain that it's a radio issue as GPS, WiFi and other data connections work. I've downloaded T-Mobile's settings to use on the phone, too, which are currently installed.
I've searched for ages on this and I don't think another question like this exists, but if it does please just link me to it
Thanks in advance,
-Adam

Just going to check that out now. Thanks mate.
Update: Data is enabled. And my network operator is set to T-Mobile UK. Could it be another setting?
EDIT: Ok my phone just spontaneously changed its data symbol from R to H and I received an email! I guess that means my phone is fixed now. Thanks for the reply anyway and sorry for time wasting!

Lol, sometimes just opening a setting and then exiting "refreshes" the setting and android applies it. As long as you see that ther is an APN(which from your post was T-Mobile UK) then all should be well.
