hi, i am having a bit of a problem, i have searched the forums but could not find much relevant. my X1's battery is really struggling.
On one occasion i managed to get 22 hours out of it, but the average is between 9 and 12. I lock my keypad and turn the backilight off when its in my pocket, i have it set to update rss and e-mails every 4 hours, i downloaded an app that switches the modem connection off after 1 mins idle time, i never use wifi and i haven't even been making any calls, and dont use any apps, ie games ect. i send a few sms, and after 9 hours away from a power supply, my hungry beast is down to 10% battery. i can not work out where my power is going. as i said i have searched the forums, and my phones settings, but can not find anything to help. if there are threads with answers please link me to them, or if you can help, please tell me
1) are there any power management apps that i can download to monitor and control the power usage
2) is there anyway to prevent the modem auto connecting whenever it finds an Edge\Gprs|hsdpa\whatever signal, as i am convinced this is the main culprit. even with rss\email updates switched off, the phone is ever connecting to the network
3) how are people who claim to be getting 24 hours+ with extensive browsing, calling, gps'ing and wi-fi'ing actually achieving this
4) would the rom firmware update help with my problem
(apologies, the question mark key on my laptop has returned to the big keyboard in the sky!)
any help anyone can provide would be much appreciated, as i am afraid to use the awesome features my phone has, for fear it will die.
thanks a lot
Have you got any shell applications runinng (TouchFlo, full SPB)?
Else sounds like your battery is fooked.
Weird
Well, how long have you had it? In my first week I was getting about the same, but now in my second week it's improving with charge/discharge cycles.
I don't use data connections but use Wifi/BT quite a bit and listening to music and it will last a day now.
Trying using just edge and lower your screen brightness to 20-30% when you use it.
I had a similar problem when I updated to the R2 ROM and installed some applications... primarily AEButton plus and S2U2 (although I believe it was AEButton that was the culprit here...), I would get 13 hours or so before the phone went down to 30% from full charge... I uninstalled both programs and then got 84 hours with moderate use (lots of sms, few mb internet and a few calls (about an hours worth)... so I am wondering if you have either of these installed or if its an app that is causing the problem... (I now have AEButton 2.6.6 installed and after 6 hours its only dropped 10% with quite a bit of internet use (mainly edge) and a few sms's)...

I've tried S2U2. And as I've stated in another thread, it is indeed a battery drainer.

That's not true at all. Just activate the energy saving option.
My battery lasts for 5 days now, longer than ever before. Cannot say if it's the effort of S2U2, but it's definitely not draining faster than without it.

Energy saving option?
EDIT: Just found out I'm running a really old version. Updating
had the phone for about 3 weeks now, tried charging and draining it a few times, still on the vanilla ROM, and i did have one of the interfaces installed (cant remember what it was called, not touch flo though) but i removed it. i hope the battery is not tits, but how can i test. i will try the brightness\edge only thing, so as for my 4 questions, no answers then(question mark)
thanks for the advice!
Guys,
I have installed SPB Phone Plus, Inesoft software and digital clock on my X1, do you mean that it will consume more battery power with these programs installed?
I notice that my X1 now only last a day while before the R2AA upgrade, it can at least last me 2 days.
Mine had the same problem during the first week or so. Now i can leave it 12 hours without charging and if i don't touch it, the battery stays at the same level.
eh, how come u all battery so fast flat 1??
mine can stay for almost 1 day.. listen to music always.. always connected to HSDPA/3G/EDGE/GPRS... listen music through wired, play game little while.. no wifi..
in da morning 7am, full... go skool, listen music whereever i can.. surf net.. then come bak to home at 6.. is got around 4bar of "power" settings ther..
I've also had a problem with my battery. It wouldn't last through the night. I installed a process monitor this morning and I suspect the culprit is S2U2 v1.37. I've just updated it to v1.45 and I'm about to test again.
For those using this version what settings do I need to enable Power Save? Is it just the registry entry or should I be changing something else in the settings?
I had been worried about the battery before I bought my X1 and I ran across a WM 'bug' which could be the problem (I'm sorry, I don't have the source because it was a while ago and I was just browsing before I bought).
It said that when WM runs for the first time it presumes full battery power and so will charge to whatever level the battery is at at the time and no higher.
Some people resolved this by either:
1) Charging when the device is off to increase the maximum charge
2) Hard resetting the device and fully charging before the first switch on.
I have to say, I use 1 hour of video, 15-30 minutes calls, 10-20 texts, 30 min web browsing, email/weather etc updates every 2 hours, 30 minutes 'bumming about' (games, file copying, tweaking) every day and get at least 2 days of use.
Overnight, (ie when not being used and for 8 hours) I have never dropped a bar of power.
I do not run any additional programs in the background, apart from the spb panel.

Well I tested this and I can confirm that v1.45 of S2U2 does indeed save power. My battery was 90% last night and was the same this morning.

the power save in s2u2 is quite annoying isn't it? i had that on and when im listening to music through the media xperience panel, it just goes to lock the device (when the idle time is up) and stop the music. Its annoying as hell.
Plus whenever im watching videos (still with the panel), it just lock the device again.
Thats it, no s2u2 for me. Uninstalled it right after that
i had the same problem until i installed a cooked rom on it....now i get about 3-4 days....i recently tried installing a few different ones and the battery life fell again....but thry installing this

Sorry, what program is S2U2? Where to download?
When I just got my phone back in November last year, my battery kept draining quite fast (empty within about 15 hours). By now even though I still use it as much as back then, the battery easily last twice as long if not thrice as long. I now manage to have it last for more then 2 days.
I notice power drain when I had SPB phone software installed and also after alarm go off in G-Alarm. With the spb phone, i think it's because of the repeating reminders option, didn’t really tested out, just uninstalled and X1 hold battery pretty well.
In the F-Alarm, after alarm went off it, seemed like only display did turned off and the device didn’t really suspended\turned off. And the battery could drop about 10% within a few hours. Soft reset stopped enormous consumption…
That’s my experience for now, hope helps someone..
On cyn v 5.03
Anyone having weird time related issues?
Took about 8 hours for my clock to set itself to daylight savings time.
I have an alarm that goes off at 130am....well it went off at 1230 and keeps repeating every ten minutes.
I did a nandroid recovery on Friday...could that have anything to do with it ?
move to Arizona... problem solved
mine has been acting up all day.. for most of the day it went 2 hours ahead instead of 1.. and my texts come in with all different timestamps.. sometimes it says an hour later and sometimes an hour early.. frustrating as ****
build CM5.0.4.1
No problems here..stock and unrooted.
So just got my incredible today, after the initial tooling around i charged it (was taking forever on my computer, anyone else have this issue?)
and now i took it off, and answered some texts and changed a couple settings but otherwise didn't touch it much. Like around a half hour later it is now at 88 percent..... seems a bit much.
only widgets that i have pulling from the internet are engadget, htc weather, and the facebook widget. Think it might just be the early status of the battery? anyone else have good reports or any battery life saving tips?
edit: also brightness is like at half, and gps/wifi/bluetooth are not on
Yeah, I have also noticed that it seems to take forever to charge it. I drained it from fully charged down to about 35% in less than 4 hours of moderate usage. I have had it plugged into my USB port for 2 hours and it is only back up to 52%.
Not so great.
I plugged it into the wall after a bit on my pc and it charged alot faster, must be just a pc charging issue, though it is disappointing.

Your PC USB doesn't supply as much power as the standalone charger. It will always take significantly longer to charge using the PC USB as opposed to the standalone charger.
Anyone know when the VZW extended battery is coming (2150mAh) and how heavy/large it'll be?

anything that pulls anything from the internet will eat your battery. personally i don't need to be that connected to tech, i run apps when i need them, turn off anything that pulls from the internet and update weather/email/and such when i need to.
if you want to be constantly connected to tech, its gonna come at a price. this is true with any smartphone. just be thankful you can have battery back-ups, haha. id' suggest picking up a spare
Ya i understand that, currently the only thing i have pulling from the internet at the moment is my weather, which does it once an hour,I took the other widgets off.
This morning i woke up, took it off the charger, took the alarms off and answered some texts adn i think checked the weather, like 15 minutes later it was at 90 percent, it went down like 3 percent within like a minute off the charger.....

go to your sync settings and change the refresh time of your internet apps... stock setting is every 15 min.... I have mine set for every 4 hours... if you need info on the fly you can always manually sync it when you want it... my phone has been on for 10 hours and its only used 1 little bar since I set my settings this way... I do email refresh every 2 hours also like I did on my winmo phone
hmm when i go to accounts & sync i only have the backup assistant, google and weather. The only one that will let me change when it syncs is weather. I don't see where i can change how often it syncs my gmail/contacts/calender, or anything else. So i'm guessing you just cant change those

Wow, I was almost going to complain about being @ 35% battery 13 hours since a charge. Moderate use as well.
Anyway, do you have good reception where you are at? If it's ducking in and out of service, your battery will eat it quicker.
The following run in the background all day:
eBuddy
SipDroid
Advanced Task Killer (automatically set to kill apps)
Exchange/Active Sync
Gmail/Calendar/Contacts
Weather (set to 3 hrs)
Roughly 40 minutes of calling
For my settings:
WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS are all off.
Location Off
Privacy (My Location Off)
Brightness ~30% (Automatic off)\
Orientation disabled (likely has nothing to do with battery)
Haptic feedback off
All vibration settings off (drives me nuts anyway)
Audible selection/tones off
Screen timeout 1min
I have been an android user since almost day one and over the years those settings seem to yield the best results.

I have been a Windows Mobile user for many years. I have been Android user for about 3 days. I have pretty good reception where I am at.
I think part of the reason I drained my batter so fast was that I have everything like GPS, bluetooth, and wifi turned on all the time. I turned off wifi today and it was a little better. I also have no idea how you close a program. There was always an obvious way to do that with WinMo but can't figure it out with Android. Do I have to have a task killer app?
What are eBuddy and SipDroid? You have a whole bunch of setting turned off. I can deal with WiFi off but bluetooth and GPS are two of the things I really like with this phone. I guess I don't really need the haptic feedback. Do you think that is significant?
I will try some of those out and look up those two apps.
i charged this god damn phone 2 times in a day.....what the F is wrong with it. i got GPS, wifi, and bt all turn off already. i even used task kill.

Yeah, my settings were similiar to others posted here- 10 hours consuming 85 percent of the battery..But then again, today was my first full day, and everyone at work wanted to see the hyped phone. Maybe it will get better on monday? After playing with my friends droid, i definitely noticed how much lighter the incredible was. I've always hated those stupid extended batteries because of the bulkiness they add to the phone. The extended battery isnt out yet, is it? I'd love to see some reviews on that.
buy more chargers one for the office one for the car and of course one for home problem solved. until they make batteries that are more powerful.... battery life on any phone is going to be the same.
With Heavy usage I got about a 10 hour work day out of it (30% when I got home). My usage is below-
Atleast two hours of Last.fm,
Atleast two hours of web browsing with multiple tabs,
Ebuddy on in background,
Skype on in background,
1 Hour Voice,
Alot of texting.
Im in good service area like 3 bars usually. This morning i took off the charger, played a 3 or 4 minute youtube video and it took it down to 90 percent, seems a bit much to me.

Hi guys,
Please bear with me as I've never owned an Android phone before.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 and last week, it started having major battery drain of around 4%-5% per hour of idle screen-off time. This was much more severe than it was in the first two weeks of ownership, which was only about 1% or less an hour. Unfortunately, I have not been able to fix this issue.
I had heard about wake locks in Android, so I downloaded the app Wake Lock Detector and ran it a few days ago. It seemed from the analysis that by far the biggest consumer of my battery was a "com.sec.app.clockpackage". Here is the screenshot I took from the app a few days ago.
tinypic.com/view.php?pic=qzhohx&s=5
I tried googling this and it seems related to the alarm clock???!!! However, I couldn't find anything to help solve my problem. Even after I turned off the alarm clock and deleted all alarms set nothing would solve the problem.
The problem persisted and I decided a few hours ago after having the problem for half a week to factory reset the phone, thinking that I had some rogue application. After resetting the phone, I immediately installed Wake Lock Detector and nothing else.
However, that did not solve the problem. This is another screenshot I took from the app just a while ago.
tinypic.com/view.php?pic=20rx9f&s=5
If you would note, once again com.sec.app.clockpackage is dominating the partial wake lock list.
Could anyone please help me with this - How come a factory reset did not help restore it to how it was when I first bought it, when I didn't have this issue of draining 5% battery per hour? One thing I have noticed is the number of wake locks for com.sec.app.clockpackage is approximately the same in number as com.sec.phone, although that process takes up far less time overall.
Would anyone be able to help me out? I don't know much about these technical things. Many thanks!

Hi,
I have the same problem. Not with the clock but after 2 weeks it started to have major battery drain. i don't know what to do in order to solve this.
Hi bbbb2004, it seems like no one has been able to help us so far.
However, did you also initially have no problems with the battery and it only started getting worse a few weeks in?
Maybe you could also try Wake Lock Detector to try to find out what the cause is. From the pics I posted, I found out what the cause is on paper, but I have no idea what it actually is...

I did try Wake Lock and saw the problem: 1. exchange service 2. com.facebook.katana and third place is facebook messenger. Initially, when i bought the phone i had no problems but after 2 weeks it started to get worse. Interesting thing is that now is going down like 12-15% / hour almost without any usage and the phone gets really hot in the camera area.
Today the phone died while the battery was at 43%. The left corner led was blinking blue and no button was working. The only thing i could do to start was to remove the battery and put it back.
Been quite a while and the problem still hasn't resolved itself. On a daily basis, I can get up to one hour of wake lock from the reading on Wake Lock Detector and GSam battery monitor. (and they show exactly the same time)
I have however gotten a bit closer to trying to solve the issue. The wake lock seems to clock much more faster at my house than when I'm outside. If I'm out all day, I can come back with only around 3-5 minutes of wake lock from com.sec.app.clockpackage. It still accumulates over time, but at a substantially lower rate.
I have no alarms set.
The only thing I can think of is that reception at my house is not superb, and does fluctuate based on the indicator bars shown on the phone. However, I don't think that fluctuating reception can cause a wake lock for com.sec.app.clockpackage, which is something to do with clocks presumably.
Anyone have any other ideas?

Try turning off your email sync and facebook apps. If it still happens, you could try a factory reset or reflashing the firmware. Sometimes its just a bad s/w write and a factory reset could fix that.
So i am not sure if this is a nougat issue or something else but recently i have noticed that when i plug my phone in to charge for the night i wake up and see that sometime probably during the night the charing stopped because the phone is at like 60ish % or so and not charging. When i unplug and plug it back in then it charges again normally. This dosen't always happen but from time to time.
Another issue i have been experincing also lately from time to time that my weekday alarm suddenly dosen't sound in the morning. When i go into the clock (google btw) then the alarm is set to on but the little alarm icon is not showing in the statusbar. Turning it off and on again it goes back to normal. But this is highly annoying if my alarm suddenly decides not to go off in the morning despite in the app it showing to be set to on.
Not sure if these issue are related to the nougat update but i have been experiencing these issues only recently (last couple of weeks).
Anyone else have similar issues?

Try different charger and especially cable. For the 2nd question - google alarm clock? Most likely the OS put it to sleep. Go in apps/power management and put the google clock into the exceptions, i.e. never to be put to sleep.
I got today some sort of call stuck, so no notification sound no alarm. I was late to work... Rebooted and sound appeared again. Nougat BTU.
