htc prophet middle of screen dead so cant align - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

yeah guys my htc prophet middle of the screen is dead & i upgraded not knowin so,now i cant go any further, tried the remote screen alignment but i keep gettin an error, any ideas?

Sorry, for your Prophet. I had the same mistake, and I must send the Neo back. For me good luck in the garantee time. It`s a mistake in the touch screen.

same here. just use your finger to align the screen instead of the stylus. my screen is dead in the middle & also near the middle of the keyboard. annoying as hell.
you can get a new lcd screen from ebay for like $30. or send it for repair somewhere.
i'm getting my touch pro soon. my prophet served me well for almost 3 years.

Is this Normal Screen Behaviour?

Hi,
Recently ive repaired a HTC Universal, put it back together as best as i could.
Now when i do touch the screen with a stylus, the screen has funny colours behind it. It kind of like when you touch/ prod your Computer LCD. It only happens when theres pressure on the screen so its not really a huge problem. The touch screen is definately there cause when i tap the screen it responds (e.g i tap start and the menu pops down).
If its normal then i can take it, but if its not im complaining to the ebay seller.
This doesent happen when i put any form of pressure on my HTC magician LCD, so im curious.
Let me know what happens with your universal
Cheers,
Whitemoo.
This is not normal behaviour of any touchscreen device!!
hmmm... well i just looked at the broken lcd screen, and even though the LCD itself is shattered, the touch screen is in perfect nick.
I put pressure on the touch screen and couldnt see any of the symptoms i saw on my current LCD
You guys recon i should swap the touch screen over? either way im complaining to the sellers, DODGY.
whitemoo.
from my knowledge, im pretty sure its normal. it happens sometimes on my 9000 so yeahh....

Anyone else got a dent in their Screen?

Hi all.
i know this sounds odd...
I have two X1's... and both of them have slight dents in the screen.
When the phone display is on.. they cannot be seen.. but if unlit (screen off.. or powered off) and you hold it in the light... you can see distortions in the reflection of light. it thus shows.. a 'dent' in the screen...
I just wanted to know if any of you have the same issue?
thanks all....
I love X1's that don't keep Bluetooth ON!!!!!!!
Is it a screen protector? Could you take a photo?

Not here, I even took the screen protector off to double check.
Seems a bit odd that you've got two the same.
the touch screen on X1 is mad up of several thin layers, its possible that the thing outter layer is dented as there is a small gap between in and the next layer which registers the actual "touch"
Alot of phones with resistive panels seem to "dent" inward toward the center. Not sure why.
It is hard to show on a pic.. but it definatly exists... and on both of them
I will have a go.... one is more than the other...
I ordered 2.. and both are showing dents.
I had this issue once on a TYTN 2... and it was applying screen protectors..and removing.. appplying and removing.. that eventually pulled the screen straight...
but after lashing out over a grand on 2 phones... i can't be doing with this..
along with the issue with bluetooth turning off... i'm returning them
one litterally never made it out the box. other i used for a few days.. till the bluetooth issue.
back to TYTN II... and await a Touch HD.

Bluetooth turns off on its own? Sounds like maybe a power saving feature. Also, if you live in the USA don't get your hopes up for a Touch HD..afaik it will only work with GSM/EDGE/GPRS, doesn't have any 3G bands that work in the USA.
The bluetooth problem is a real issue.. and Sony Erricsson are developing a fix.
It really does just turn off for no reason.
As for the touch HD... I'm in the UK.. and here.. there is more 3g handsets flying round than are not.
I ordered one .. so.. now i have 2 x1's and a touch Hd tomorrow...
and by monday.. i'll know what is staying.. and what is going.
The Touch Hd.. has answers to give....and the X1;s,... when the Bluetooth issue is fixed by SE... then i will rethink.

Touchscreen doesn't work anymore

Well, plain and simple is that my touchscreen doesn't response to any touch reponse but the screen is working and everything else
I recently bought a white G1 housing kit on ebay and decided to take the risk of opening up my G1 to replace the housing of my black G1 to the white one, but turns out the white case for the screen / menu buttons arent correct so i scraped those and just changed the keyboard and menu button keys to white and put everything back together properly and exam each part and etc.
so i put everything back together and turn on the g1 everything works fine but the touchscreen doesn't work, is there anyway i can fix this?
life is hard using the G1 without a working touchscreen lol
thanks again and i don't think my screen is defective just wondering why it doesn't reponse to my touch
thanks
Once I was walking around in the heat with my G1 in my BDU pocket for like 4 hours, and it obviously got really humid in my pocket, and my touchscreen stopped responding. I let the phone just sit off for a while and after about an hour sitting in my room, it started working again. But I've had several instances where the touch screen has been less responsive/not responsive.
My guess based off my experience would be that some ambient moisture may have gotten into the phone when you opened it up. How long has it been since you put it back together?
Any update on this?
you said you had 2 g1s, right? so take the phone apart again and replace the touch screen.
the touch screen is separate from the LCD, so that wont affect it.

Tattoo: digitizer (touch screen) broken for the 2nd time

Hello there,
I bought my Tattoo in January this year. It went to the service centre once already, because the touch screen did not work anymore. It came back with a new one.
Today it got broken again. The symptoms; it was getting more and more difficult to get a long press, for instance to move an icon or remove a widget from the desktop. After it stopped working, I could see a dot matrix on the screen, and when the screen is off, it looks like there is some oil, diffracting the light, a bit like a rainbow.
Am I the only unlucky Tattoo owner with this kind of recursive issue? Is the life span of a Tattoo digitizer only 4 months?
What about capacitive screens - are they less fragile?
Is there any particular Android phone with a good / strong build and quality reputation?
Cheers,
JPascal.
I have similar problems with the screen. It's hardly usable. I get those rainbow-like spots on the screen, there is a big white mark at the top of the screen that fortunately I can see through when screen is on. Also the screen sometimes thinks I've pressed in places where I haven't, so it's impossible to use until I reboot. There are many other problems, and the only reason why I don't send it back to get fixed is that they keep it for weeks, and I need it.
I live in Taiwan, Taipei, so HTC support / service is not bad here. They can come and pick my cellphone at my office, and I can hope to get it back 3 days after.
I'll ask them if it's a common problem, will update this thread later.

I had same problems with digitizer.. But I fixed it :] This can happen when the screen is pressed for a longtime in pocket or the phone is dropped. But I fixed it :]
I turned the phone off, removed mask and tried to lift up digitizer little bit on side where was rainbow-like spots. When they gone, I put digitizer down and press on the side that I lifted up. Now everithing works like a charm
Yeh I have one of the rainbow spots..too i wanna know how can it be removed....cause i cant get rid of it.
that oil spot or Newton ring can be easily fixed by removing top mask and inserting sharp object between LCD and digitizer couple millimeters and then pull the digitizer up so it detaches LCD and newton ring disapears, then while you removing sharp object, used to pull digitizer up, press with finger from center outwards to pump out air and place it back firmly .. I`ve successfully fixed two HTC tattoo`s and one HTC HD display with that technique ....

[Q] Replaced screen problems (video)

Hi all ,So the story goes is I had my cracked screen replaced by my insurance 2 months ago. My new screen was fine up until a few week ago when this started happening..
youtu.be/lXv5xBA-r9E[/url]
Basically when I press hard on the top right of the screen I get ghost touches all over the screen. It also happens all the time when I use a case because of the pressure on the top right part of my screen.
I noticed that I can get my fingernail in between the 2 parts of the phone on the side. I really don't want to go a month without my phone again so I'm reluctant to send it off to insurance. Has anyone had this problem? Should I try a phone repair shop? Does this happen if a screen isn't fitted properly or is it another problem? Thanks
Seems like a faulty digitizer
More info... The screen works fine when I press it normally. It only goes crazy and when I press slightly harder or if there is a case on
