I lost my 8525, and bought a secondhand imate jasjam. The seller had the original ROM. I found that the camera app let me zoom upto 3X. I could never find the zoom feature in any version of the HTC camera applications in custom ROMs and even AT&T OEM ROMs. Sure enough, the zoom feature went away when I flashed with AT&T OEM ROM.
I would appreciate any pointer to the camera application bundled with imate jasjam.

Which do you guys prefer? I hear the Imate has a still unfixed audio problem as well as camera issues, patches are in development so they say.
So far it seems like there are a lot more Imate users out there, so that may explain why their are more issues with that phone. Comments welcome.
Also, any ideas how to switch roms from Imate to MDA and the otherway?
From postings in this site, it appears as if the MDA is a clear winner, no bugs or crashes, better sounds, any other comments appreciated.
Yah... I'd be very open to the last thing mentioned about switching. Is there a way?
:? Donn t now about the Imate but the Qtek Rom 1.06 i ve put to my mda compact introduced the ****ty "no bluetooth hardware installed " error.
With orignial mda rom this was not the case and everything was really stable. Camera and speech quality are better now with the new qtek rom although.
Cheers,
Rainer
my mda has a problem with video capture. it captures too slowly so when it's played back it's out of sync but otherwise it's wicked
Dopod 838 is the chinese version of the HTC wizard, it looks very nice to me compare with the Qtek/imate HTC wizard. Nevertheless, it's only available in chinese ROM....

The one thing I really like about it is the fact that the soft keys are placed further away from the call & end-call keys. I keep pressing the soft key accidently when I try to end a call - it's pretty annoying!

ouch that dopod was really ugly =) love my qtek 9100 =D
Isn't this just the HTC WIZA100 series design? Same internally as the WIZA200, but in a different plastic case, as used in the cheap Cingular version?

Actually, the Dopod 838 is available in both Traditonal Chinese and English ROMs. I live in HK (Australian) and have played with an English version Dopod 838.
Hope this helps. I personally prefer the look of the I-Mate/QTEK version.

so is the Qtek 9100 has a plastic case or metal one ????
Both (the front bezel is alloy). But if the WZA100/Cingular 8125 is $100 cheaper, who cares?
1st impression of Dopod - Sony P900(i) & Urgly...
That's why I bought a K-JAM via eXpansys even no official support center in HK & no interest free installment.
Want to clarify: Dopod 838 is Wizard, and K-JAM, Qtek 9100, etc - are Prodigy. Dopod keyboard is much like Universal keyboard, IMHO better then Prodigy.

True, the Dopod/Cingular is the "original" Wizard design. Not convinced on the keyboard though. It might look nicer, but the photos show that, unlike the Universal, the keys are totally flat. To me that suggests zero tactile feedback, and so a high risk of pressing adjacent keys,
a) because there is no space between them, and
b) because of the lack of a "dome", no way of feeling that your finger is central on the key.
i like the cingular/dopod one more but i have a couple of questions. anyone know of the cingular release date for it? cuz i know it was supposed to be mid november then they kept delaying it now some one said feb 1. also why is the dopod $950 on ebay and the k-jam around 700$? also is the dopod 838 802.11b or g like the k-jam. one last thing anyone have a pic with the dopod/cingular model next to the k-jam? because it looks like the dopod is smaller.

Is anyone else experiencing very slow video capture in ComVu and MS Portrait, and also that only one camera (the front facing) is recognized, and that the video conf. camera does not show under the options?
Anyone tried this again with the newer dopod rom updates to see if it is fixed?
Thanks!
Ray
COMVU
hi,
Is the same with me (comvu) I asked them the reason for the slow camera and that only one cam (the back cam) was supported. They answered back that they are working on it , but untill now, HTC 3300 is officialy not supported. Something to do with the firmware ( the off. HTC firmware unbranded or branded)
About MS portrait , it's only beta version, but I think they ran into the same problem as Comvu.
All these programs are working fine on my QTEK 9000

Thanks for the reply. I am a little confused by your 'the off. HTC firmware unbranded or branded' statement. Are you saying you have tried the original ROM and the new Dopod updated ROM and the problem exists in both? Also, did you mean 3600 not 3300?
Thanks!
comvu
sorry , away for a few day's. Yes I m talking about the 3600.
and I did'nt try the dopod rom.Only a simlock free 3600 from HTC , no brand, no logo from a operator.

Thanks. Anyone have the new Dopod ROM and could try this out?
Thanks
doesn't work with new dopod rom
I have tried ms portrait with the new dopod rom and it only supports the back camera.
greetings from holland

Crap . Thanks for checking it out though. Is the performance any better, or is it still 2-3FPS?
still slow
In ms portrait the video is still slow with the new dopod rom.

HTC TyTN II
My Camera capturing is very slow too. When there is some better lightening its little bit faster, but it isn't so comfortable as i want.
I'm sory for my English
I'm confused, does the P3600 have a built in gps receiver?
I've done a search and it seems some do and some don't (does it require a rom upgrade to enable?).
The orange M700 has screen shots on some sites with nav software running but there is no mention of gps in the specs (I'm assuming the M700 is a re-badged P3600).
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.
All HTC Trinities have GPS chip inside.... ROM updates are available to enable the GPS chip. These includes the official Orange and Dopod Roms or cooked ones

Thanks - another phone to add to my shortlist along with the p3300, eten x500 and g500 (looking to get another phone when my contract expires - currently using my xda2 as I've smashed the screen on my Mio a701)
I've just got a white m700, and in the box comes a leaflet invitation to try the Orange sat-nav free for 7 days, and the instruction book mentions GPS too.
My only problem is that I only had a quick look this morning before leaving for work. It should be charged and ready to rock and roll when I get home later
Hello...
I am not a new memeber, just new to the Wizard forum... I have a 8925 (Tilt) and love it.. use the GPS almost daily and love all the software for it... I have the oppertunity to pick up a used 8125 (Wizard) for $50 in full working order... I think picking it up is a no-brainer... Here are my questions...
GPS : I did a search in the forum and can find nothing stating whether this unit does or does not have a built in GPS chip like my 8925 (or my friends Titan)... I am assuming that it does not... but I would love to be plesantly suprised... SO, does it have a built in GPS chip?
Rom Update : I know it comes with WM 5.0 on it.. but my 8925 has the WM 6.1 on there, so I wanted something closer... With this upgrade, will the 8125 be able to use the SDHC SD cards ? What is the size limit? I downloaded the SNN Diamond WM 6.1 rom from the Wizard Forums.. and feedback on that rom?
Advice : I will most likely be giving this phone to a friend of mine who is envious of my tilt, as it does most everything my tilt can do (keeping my fingers crossed on the gps thing)... Any tips/advice from someone who has used both devices? Any tricks or anything I should be aware of? (I will most likely be their only form of tech support for the phone as they will be using it on Einstein PCS, not tmobile or at&t)
Thank you so much in advance for your help! I will greatly appreciate it!
Sorry, no gps. I use the SNN rom and I love it.
Thanks for the reply!
I assume this will stil lbe able to work with a bluetooth GPS puck, right?
Ya, I use a Telelogic Bluetooth GPS "puck" receiver with my 8125 since there is no GPS builtin. Also, the 8125 has a slower processor, most things seem to work fine for me.
I haven't heard if WM6.1 enables SDHC on Wizard. Regular SD is 2GB max I think. I still use stock ROM.
Thanks so much for everyones help... This afternoon I picked up the stock rom and locked Cingular 8125 for $50.. I have it CID and Sim Unlocked thanks to software found here in the forum.... And I upgraded it to the SNN WM 6.1 Diamond rom... Working great... I got the internet and such set up for Einstein Wireless as my friend who will be getting it from me will be using them for service...
SDHC will not work, the hardware does not support it. The Wizard's CPU functions at 180mhz stock but it can (and should IMHO!) be over-clocked to 240mhz.
I'm running WM 6.1 with Manila and it's really only lacking GPS.
Having said that, I wish I had the money for a Fuze!
