I'm confused, does the P3600 have a built in gps receiver?
I've done a search and it seems some do and some don't (does it require a rom upgrade to enable?).
The orange M700 has screen shots on some sites with nav software running but there is no mention of gps in the specs (I'm assuming the M700 is a re-badged P3600).
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.
All HTC Trinities have GPS chip inside.... ROM updates are available to enable the GPS chip. These includes the official Orange and Dopod Roms or cooked ones

Thanks - another phone to add to my shortlist along with the p3300, eten x500 and g500 (looking to get another phone when my contract expires - currently using my xda2 as I've smashed the screen on my Mio a701)
I've just got a white m700, and in the box comes a leaflet invitation to try the Orange sat-nav free for 7 days, and the instruction book mentions GPS too.
My only problem is that I only had a quick look this morning before leaving for work. It should be charged and ready to rock and roll when I get home later

I'm newbie, so maybe these questions are silly!
1) Is it possible to change the Danish SPV Orange M1000, so it's behaving like the Qtec 2020?
2) If the answer: "yes" - is it then possible to use my Nokia 3330's SIM (from TDC) in the M1000?
Best Regards
Roddi
look in the unlock forum if it can be unlocked then you can use any sim in it
also you should be able to update the rom with a qtek2020 rom if you have one
Unlocking Orange M1000
Yes, I have unlocked my Orange M1000 and use a Telmore SIM for GPRS (10 DKR/MB) Orange, however is far cheaper when calling land lines, so I will continue to use that card as well on occasions.
The unlock program works perfectly, it extracts the unlock code from the M1000 and displays it on the PC screen. You then load the new SIM and enter the code when prompted.
This way, you are not changing anything inside the M1000 (using any questionable method) and they should have a hard time denying you warranty if you need it.
I have not yet updated the ROM, I have not found a need. I have loaded a 'fix' to correct the problem about missing alarms (check http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html).
Since everything is working close to perfectly, I will wait on the ROM upgrade until I read about something I need..
Congratulations with the M1000, I love it, it is the best device I have ever had.
Regards
Michael
A BIG thanks to you guys - specially Michael for your excellent answer...!!!
It's sounds perfect, so now I'm going for the M1000 instead of the Qtec 2020, and earn lots of money - maybe spend on bluetooth-GPS

Bluetooth GPS
I use TomTom Navigator 2 and the Emtac Bluetooth GPS. Works much better than on my HP IPAQ:
On the Ipaq you need to select the bluetooth device everytime you start Tom Tom.
The 128 MB RAM makes it possible to load the South Scandinavia map, previously on the IPAQ I had to switch between each country.
I feel that the sensitivity of the bluetooth receiver is better on the M1000, I have picked up my GPS mounted in the car from my 2. floor flat on several occasions, this was difficult on the Ipaq.
Do look at more recent versions than the Emtac, it has a pretty short battery life (rated 6 hours), if you walk a big city, a device with a larger battery would be better.
Regards
Michael[/list]
Once again Michael, many thanks for your information.
I'm going to mount the M1000 and GPS together on my motorcycle, so i'm not get lost on my travel to Austria next summer! 8)
Best Regards
Roddi

Not me
Long time ago the Trinity was announced in the HTC roadmap as a "have it all device". Many of us were disappointed seeing the final specs. Now it seems we get back bit by bit all missing features.
Wonder how long it wil take before the first "have it all ROM" is available. The Trinity becomes a really interesting device and will be certainly quite a challenge for many programmers in this forum.
If the radio would also have RDS (like the Artemis has) then this would open the door to navigating with TMC assistance
Let's see how this Tiny Trinity develops...
Can anyone confirm this regarding the devices for the European market? Visible hardware, antennas etc?
i've got my trinity for 3 days ago but i've not FM radio inside. i suppose chinese rom can activate that feature but i'm not sur.
(désolé pour mon anglais : je suis français)
This all is GREAT to hear. I'm really looking forward to all this, but the big question is: HOW LONG IS IT GOING TO TAKE?
When does the GPS get activated?
When does the FM-radio get activated?
Will it ever use it's video processor?
(none the less, I think i'm going to buy it today...)
Sorry guys...I have the Trinity with me and I am 100% sure It is 99.99% same as the Hermes, No Radio and GPS at all..If you are looking for GPS and Radio ..maybe go for the P3300, Orbit ^^

I happened to notice on O2s website:
O2 XDA Orbit
The latest ultra thin XDA device from O2 with Microsoft Windows Mobile, integrated GPS (Sat Nav) and FM Radio.
The Orbit is O2's version of the P3300, aka the HTC Artemis. Note the 200MHz OMAP CPU.
is the Dopod D810 buyable yet? Cuz I would like to have the FM-Radio on my P3600
In Thailand, we will get the Dopod 810
but is seem that they do not communicate anything about FM Radio at all..
Is this true that Trinity (Dopod P810) having or will have ..FM-Radio?
This is getting interesting,..
with GPS (seem to be confirmed) and FM radio..??

The only info I have on the FM radio is in the first post of this threat. You could try and send an email to Dopod and see what they say about it...
Hi all,
A few days ago I bought a P3600 for my wife. I have a TyTN and read the thread about Hermes&GPS. On the specs I saw the same processor is in the P3600 as in the TyTN, so both are GPS-able.
On a flyer, http://www.europe.htc.com/z/pdf/products/HTC_PRODUCT_BROCHURE_V2_111006.pdf, I saw GPS will be enabled on the P3600 later.
So I took the Hermes-cab to enable GPS on the Hermes.
Now I have GPS working on the Trinity P3600. I know it is working, because VisualGPDce shows methe signals. I aso got a fix. Only TomTom does not see the GPS-signal.
What do I have to do to enable the signal with TomTom?

Yeap, you're right Missed that one, but anyway we have finaly got it, officialy
... and yes, buy Trinity, you will have a lot of phone with it
None of the big and reputable online dealers have currently any Trinity's on stock.
My question: once they replenish their stock (at around beginning of July) will these units be different with regards to the following:
1. improved paint
2. GPS enabled by HTC
Not sure if anyone here would be able to acquire such knowledge but please let me know.
Thanks!
Even now the HTC P3600 selling on ebay are GPS enabled with the most updated HTC ROM

Any news about the peeling paint?
i just received (another) Trinity and it came with the GPS ROM already installed and properly configured to use COM9 and 115K Baud Rate. It also included an HTC branded CD that included TomTom 6.03 and the GPS ROMs for WWE and other languages. Since I've only had the new Trinity for 3 days, I can't (yet) coment on the paint issue.

Wow, that's great that Tomtom 6.03 is included
Would you mind sharing the CD with us (Bit Torrent maybe??)
TT6 is free in the HTC web, but it's an evaluation software. That cd must contain an evaluation version, i think.
I believe the softare on the CD is the same as their site. You enter your IMEI or Serial # to activate your "trial" copy. You get 1 free city map download then pay for any future downloads.
As far as the paint issue - I sent mine back for repair. It peeled worse than it did before they "fixed" it. There is no evidence that they have fixed the problem. They should just ship the grey bezel that is on the white one.
I replaced my old black one with a white one after it was run over by a car. It's actually pretty cool but the black looked better.
I have an M700 and XDA has helped me loads to get it where it is now. It does everything i need, but the HTC Touch looks better! Materialistic, i know but what the hell.
Don't know much about the HTC Touch, hope thats the right name for it. Seen a picture with a keypad slide down on it. Is that on all models or are there 2 versions?
So anyway, to the point, orange are offering me a upgrade, shall i take it? Presume it has built in gps, a must as i use tom tom on my m700.
Many thanks George
for many parts it's a downgrade
