Hello,
i just bought the qtek 2020,
does anyone know any websites that lets you download free games and applications ?
Try ce4you
Or, if you don't speak Czech(?), try
http://www.pdagold.com/software/ looks the English version of ce4you.cz
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php
(English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, the French index seems to be the original, so might contain more descriptions)
http://ppc.palmopensource.com/ (open source apps)
http://www.freecabs.de/ (suitable for browsing from your XDA itself)
tucows has a pda section, but the tucows site isn't as nice as it used to be - many ads, popups, non-functional links, adware listed as freeware, etc.
www.hpc.ru - as far as I remember they had English version, too. I don't really need it!
By the way, any sites that make shareware and demos a freeware thing?
freeware to shareware
i dont think i do know any sites that do that. in fact i dont think that such a site with such services exist.
I think he means websites with serial numbers, serial number generators, or just outright cracked versions.
The latter is outright illegal anywhere in the world, and the former two are at least questionable.
Any way, any such sites are a good way to get a virus, or your screen laden with zillions of porno popups.
I think he'd be better off asking our pal, Google.
Of course, he might mean a site like www.pocketgear.com which WILL turn trial versions in full versions, risk-free. The only downside is that you have to pay. ;-)
wfberg understood what I mean! There was a very nice site that had everyting for PPC, but someone broke it recently...
PS: all porn popups are blocked - MyIE does a good job!
Hello Mike,
Mabrouk for ur new device.
U can also try the following links for freewares
http://www.pocketpcarchives.com/
http://www.pocketpcsoft.net/php/freeware.php

MIRC on Efnet Channel #Pocketwarez
Hi,
I got the Wizard and since I've bought it I've been looking for some places to find software but no luck. I know some great channels on EFNET where I used to download software for my Nokia 6600 but no I'm stuck.
Any suggestions?
If you are looking for freeware try http://www.freewareppc.com/ it has quite a selection. MortButtons and TCPMP are two of my favorites.
If you are looking for commercial software try http://www.handango.com or http://www.pocketgear.com they have quite a variety of apps available.
If you are requesting for locations to acquire commercial software for free I would suggest going elsewhere. Most of the community at xda-developers, including myself, take a dim view of illegal copying of commercial software. I will assume that was not what you were requesting though, so the links above should get you started.
But of course. I'm not one of those guys who support the software piracy. And I do pay for every little tool I use once a month.
Thanks fot the links
has anyone any idea where to find software or games for free, a good address, especially for story games or action. Thanks

Don't forget Torrents
You can use a bittorrent client, wich are free like Azureus, and then go to mininova.org, meganova, torrentbox, etc. You can get tons of programs, but most of them are ILLEGAL copies.
Hey all,
Im new to this site and this phone... after all the youtube vids and the websites im very eager to start customizing my mogul.... but there are a bajillion versions of everything, i dont know where to start... can anyone suggest or attach the newest versions of the iphone interface, the touchflo htc home app? Looking forward to contributing to the community as i learn more! thanks
Joel
Welcome to the site. I don't have all direct links but I included a few and if you do a search you can find all the following programs which i think are pretty sweet to have on the mogul.
Do a search on xda for the following:
Htc Task Manager - a program that closes applications when you click on the the x close button instead of just minimizing them, helps save ram and keep your mogul running smooth.
FlashVideoBundle Pack - codecs that let you watch streaming content like youtube
TCPMP - a good flexible Media Player that lets you watch things like youtube and other formats not supported by WMP (needs a flash bundle pack to watch youtube and other streaming media)
PPCgeeksMMS - lets you send picture mail and video mail
Google Maps - Awesome map program that lets you find nearby businesses, restaurants, etc. also has mapquest like driving directions function
HTC home customizer - Downloads the htc home plugin (very cool) onto your device and lets you customize it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319308
PPC Pim backup - lets you backup contacts, messaging, and just about anything else on your device onto your SD card. good to have if you plan on customizing your phone and it ends up crashing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705
efrosts FTouchFlo - theres a couple different versions of Touchflo floating around but I find this one works well on the mogul. and also FTouchFlo customizer for an app that makes it extremely easy to configure TouchFlo
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338143
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345568
SCLPF - Slithers Cube Launcher - gives you the Touch Cube
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336234
Everything so far is free, the next couple do cost money but they are well worth it. And of course come with trial versions if you're on the fence so check em out:
As far as iphone themes go, i'd definitely recommend checking out lakeridgesoftware.com where you'll find the program wisbar advance 3 and wisbar advance desktop. In my opinion they are the best programs available right now to modify your phones interface. Once you have these two programs you'll have access to about a million different themes and you can even make your own. Highly customizable.
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/ Spb Software House has a ton of great software worth checking out. Some are moderately expensive but they make some great programs.
if you run into any problems let us know, we've all had our share of problems and crashes, good luck with your new mogul
very helpful thread for newbie.
rules to getting what you want...
#1. SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH
#2. READ READ READ
#3. Reapeat steps 1 and 2 profusely until eyes go bad.
Unless someone posts posts posts what is everyone going to read read read? The same question isn't always asked in the same way and not everyone thinks in the same keywords. Grow up and be more like the first responder... helpful.
Great response Johnnycross22.. I'd also add Pocket CM, TotalCommander, and Meshavi Notes Explorer to that list.

Of course this is just my opinon, but Tregrad has the right idea. Perfect example: A_C's "Slide2unlock" (great looking app worth picking up)so many people would ask the exact same question without taking the time to actually read the thread, it got ridiculous!
If you plan on making any kind of modification on anything that costs over 100 bucks it's worth doing all the independant study you can to hedge the odds of you bricking your device. right?
With that said... You do have the option of foregoing the flashbundle and tcmp by downloading Vtap. It's a great free application that is a vast collection of youtube, googlevideo etc. It is somewhat of a mem hog but I find it better than tcmp. Again just my opinon.
Grumps has a great iPhone gui thats really easy to get started with and a config app to go with it. its very simple as long as you pay attention and read the instructions. Hope this helps...
Thanks for posting all that info.
I was looking to do similar things with my Mogul once it arrives. Now I don't have to track everything down.
This website is awesome! It made me like my phone again, I was going to get the touch, but not anymore, since I can get all the features of the touch on my mogul and still keep my slide out keyboard!!
Imagine you are standing in a store looking at DVDs. You photograph a barcode with your phone and press a couple of buttons. By the time you make it home, the movie is waiting for you in your torrent client.
This is the link for the app which is available on Android. I wonder if anyone could come up with something like this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h05KrEjHW6g
and VERY legal indeed...
While it is a clever idea, that kind of talk really isn't allowed here.. I think this thread will be closed!
thats amazing.. wonder how he is getting away with that!
not that i encourage illegal behavior or download anything illegaly, but i would love to see someone get something like that working for winmo too (not that i would use it)!
Illegal downloads
Its not like im encouraging illegal movie downloads. Just because a shop is providing bullets and guns doesnt mean that they are encouraging shooting and killing...
I think this would be a wonderful app and could have many uses other than illegal movie downloads so take a chill pill...
Yes, the implications are incredible. I'm sure there are *many* other uses other than illegal movie downloads, I just can't think of any right now.
..
Oh wait, got one! Music download?!
Hardly saying I'm against it, but do you really think this is the place for you to request an app which would make you a trigger-happy barcode reader?
other possible use
instead of having it take you to a torrent of the movie you can you use it log you dvds or cds to make a list of all your dvds or possibly use it with microsofts netflix app to add the scanned dvd to you rental list
Think outside the box lill fella there could be a lot more uses than just piracy... I saw the video on youtube and was very impressed so lighten up and go BUY a dvd or something if it makes u happy...
I already downloaded a torrent client on my mobile and am able to download content from many sites... Its called winmobile torrent if anyone is interested.
Please posts messages regarding development or alternatives to this rather that sarcy comments from now on.
p.s.
Dashraider that is an excellent idea...
Yeah, lets NOT discuss the legality of this application, in stead lets find out how to get this on our WM phones
To get it to work we would at least need
1. A barcode reading Lib, open source/free
2. A way of searching barcode number -> title
Google-ing for both ...

Try Koushik Dutta's Windows Mobile Bar Code Manager and API.
Another possible use:
It scans the barcode, then identifies the product and checks online for different prices. So you can find the lowest price or whatever.
Thanks...
Thanks for your help on this guys...

I could only find the barcod creation part..
But... we could already start with just typing in the number
the rest could/would be automatic

Just an FYI there is already a WM program being developed that does this called Barcorama. It's a little crude in the fact that it doesn't actually "read" the barcode, it just searches a predefined string using the barcode numbers that you photograph, and opens a browser page with the prices.
You can edit the search string as well, I think it defaults to a Google Shop search, but you can make it search Amazon/Whatever fairly easily.
To take this a step further, basically what I imagine the general workings of this application would do would be something of the following.
Using pretty much the same foundation as barcorama you would take a pic of the barcode, but instead of displaying the pricing page it would instead parse the data for a title of a movie/artist/etc. This operation would likely be hidden to conserve resources. Beyond this you could take the data that you got from searching the UPC and then plug that into a torrent search site such as isohunt, and have it grab whichever torrent has the closest match or best seeds.
The problems would be that while you could do all the steps on the PPC, I'm not exactly sure how you would get the .torrent opened on your PC without some sort of remote feature/LogMeIn etc. which are probably difficult to integrate into the application.
An additional problem would be that the application would have to judge which torrent from the tracker is "best" to download which would probably have to be handled by some combo of which torrent has the most seeds and which most precisely matches the data it acquired from the barcode.
I'd imagine that this project can be done without too much trouble, but it will probably take awhile to work out the bugs/fine tune the search/etc.
-Edit: After rereading this I came up with an idea for a workaround to get the file to the PC. It's only an idea like I said and would require additional development, but I'm just planting the seed for the more creative minds to bloom.
Basically the steps would be the same as above, but when you reached the point where the .torrent has been found, have the program save the .torrent to a temporary directory, attach it to an email document, and email it to an address you would input. You would probably have to run an app always on the PC that would watch your email, and open any .torrents that came in, I'm not sure how difficult that would be.
I think something like this is the easiest way to do this, but anyone can feel free to chime in with tweaks/new ideas

Ontoppic
This could be an option :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368798
I need to look into it, and see if I/we can use it,
I also think we can use amazone.com for the dvd info
I just need to look in to the placing of the nzb/torrent
but we're getting there
winmobile torrent seems cool, but i dont really understand the point of downloading huge files over edge to your mobile, would make more sense if it synced with your computer like in the video so it would use a higher bandwith
I've always been interested in creating a barcode reading program.
Before my two kids came along and took away all our free time, my wife used to collect coupons. She would put them all in a index card holder and reference them whenever she was buying something. The most time consuming part was keeping up with the expiration dates and what each coupon was for, then compare them to fliers from the supermarkets.
My idea was to barcode scan each coupon and have an online database of what the coupons were for, how much off, expiration date, and barcodes of products the coupon was valid for. I know that supermarkets have such a database but it would be great if it was available online somewhere.
Even as a community effort (users scan a coupon and type in the applicable info then upload and share with everyone else), this would be a useful little program.
In this economy, we can all use an app like this, can't we? My Wife and I used to leave the supermarket with a shopping cart full of food and personal hygiene products having only paid $3 - $10 bucks.
