my phone broken so i replaced lcd.
Now when I put sim in, it says SIM CARD IS MISSING or it takes forever and is stuck on searching for signal.
Any ideas?
IDEA!!!!
Broken Sim!
anybody?
Can't be a broken sim. Works fine in two other older phones I have. It's what i've been usning. I miss my MDA.
you can disassembly it again
and see if the sin socked pins are solded??? i dont have more ideas... just because of the falling and broken screen
They are. If I shake the phone, sometimes it works. But then I get the searching for signal endless loop..
Well it seems that its screwed up...
but maybe the socket is fine maybe... the anthena is unsolded or the green label for anthena has a little trash or something... but defineltly is hardware issue because the falling problem.
Okay, i tinkered with the phone this morning for the first time in over a week.
My findings:
The back cover where the camera / antenna when the phone fell I guess the clips broke off. It is no longer seated securely on the top (I can wobble it and remove it very easily)
When this moves the phone loses signal.

I dropped my phone and now when I turn the camera on its all blurry and out of focus. The screen is a yellow colour and the photos turn out the same as the screen shows it. Is it possible to fix this myself as its now out of warranty and was wondering if anyone has anything I could try. Thanks.
Take your phone apart and check the connection of the camera the connection is underneath the antenna housing. Be care if you have any more questions see this

This helped me some what. Ive been a repair tech for almost 5 years soo hey. Its always a learning experience.
Hi thanks for the advice and link will give it a try.
well good news bad news. I took it apart and found the camera module was indeed misplaced, so put it back in and put the phone together again. When I turned it back on I got an invalid or missing sim on the screen. tried different sims know to work but still no joy. The camera works now though. Took it apart again to see if I missed something but cant see anything, infact I wasnt even anywhere near the sim holder. Any ideas why the sim reader has stopped working, I must have done something to it.
Does the sim card appear to be at all loose?
if so try bending the edges of the holder in slightly... otherwise, check the contacts are clean on both the sim and the phone..
Cheers
Steve
Sometimes it can be something as simple as its not pushed in all the way. Also like the fella above stated. If your sim card housing is loose it wont make the proper connection. If all else fails pick up some denatured alcohol and a cheap tooth brush. Gentle scrub the contact points. It works wonders.
screen got yellow?
well..first dismantling your phone and then, check the flat-cable that connects the LCD and mainboard, then the camera connection..
Hi,
I recently had a Magician shipped which seemed fine the first day of use, but at the end of the day, the gsm radio icon showed me a no reception, or 'service unavailable' message...
Now, after upgrading the Rom's (several used) and Radio update to the latest one (1.13 as far as I can see), I don't have any reception or 'service' at all...
The gsm radio always shows the '!' marker...
Anyone any idea where to look?
Loose cable, loose or bad antenna, software/rom issue?
Any ideas are welcome!
This device will be my test-unit for xanadux, but I want to make sure it's functional before testing stuff and debugging things that will never work because of a hardware or firmware issue...
Thanks guys!
Great work, super forum!
this is clearly a hardare malfunction. your device may not be identifying the sim card.
thanks for the quick response, but I don't think it's the SIM-slot that is causing me troubles... The SIM card can be read without any problem, and the pin code is asked and aknowledged by the phone. Once in a while I get coverage, but it always looks like 1 bar maximum, while my Trinity is lying next to it, same operator, and all 5bars of coverage notification are there, so it's not that I'm in a dead zone or black spot where there's no cell coverage at all.
I checked the upper back part (after removing the plastic casing top) and checked where the antenna is connected. Once, while holding and pushing onto the metal part that looks like the antenna extension, I got (just for 5 seconds that is) a connection, and signal level of 1-2 bars, but that dropped and stopped after a few seconds already...
I think it's a connection issue of some kind, internal antenna or the connection to it, but I'm not that keen on taking the unit apart to find out it's not that easy to sort the issue out...
Any help, info, ... can help...
Thanks!
the metal plate just below the top-backside plastic panel acts like the antenna. On top side of it there are two legs which connect to the mainboard.try cleaning the two spots on mainboard and the contacts of antenna.
well, i can say this because i solved this problem once this way.
good luck.
Well, I tried what you mentioned: scratched and cleaned the squares on the pcb, straightened the connecting metal parts from the back plate, cleaned all contacts: no solution...
Any other ideas?
Possibly a sort of switch which makes the device choose between internal or external antenna? What external antenna might fit?
Thanks guys!
Well,
I got my hands on a 'broken' I-mate Jam (got stuck between the car door, screen is totally broken, pcb is fine) and replaced the antenna block: FULL RECEPTION...
at least, for half an hour.. after that: reception dropped, and again left me with the "!" mentioning "no service"
I tried switching the pcb's but for some odd reason, the screen didn't come up good... The backlight didn't turn on and the screen was all striped and smeared...
Is there a difference in pcb versions, connectors, screens?
I thought Magcian = Magician, but now I'm thinking there are different models around there...
Bon... so I'm looking for a pcb of a Qtek S100 now... to switch that one with mine, and see if that helps...
really strange the reception was 'perfect' for about an hour, I even succeeded in making calls with it! No jitter, no drops, perfect reception, and then: BONK, over with it... nothing left...
Any ideas on this one, or any ideas on how to get the I-mate's pcb working in my Qtek?
Thanks guys for the info and help!
Long story short, I broke my phone. I had taken out the FFC and gone back to stock, everything was fine. Well tonite I put the FFC back in and I get the "insert SIM" error on reboot. I used a different SIM with the same message.
I can't seem to figure out what I did wrong this time.
Any hints?
Did you put any pressure on the SIM casing when you were removing the back cover? Might've damaged it some, try putting some pressure on it while its on maybe reconnect some leads that got lifted.
SIM is in backwards?
Nothing that easy.
I think it has something to do with the white wire that runs along the battery compartment. It has a funky snap on connector and I think I bent something in there.
No not the white wire
That's the antenna, if you were too hard on the phone maybe you jacked up the sim-slot but this is an easy mod. Sorry to say but my guess is you gorilla-handled the phone.
That is unless you put in the sim unside down

Well WTF? I pinched that wire the first time I did the mod and got this same error. I reseated the wire and then I was good.
And I really wish my SIM was unside down
Thanks for keeping me from focusing on that wire. I'm on a mission to figure this out now.
I got it!!!!
There is a clip on the underside of the motherboard that I had never saw before. I guess it was luck that it worked the first couple times.
WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi guys, hoping someone can give me some help with my phone problems.
I have a verizon s4 that was working perfect other than having a cracked lcd. I took apart my phone and unplugged all the flex cables and antenna and removed all the modular pieces on the phone then replaced the lcd/digitizer assembly (didn't use heat). When I finished my repair and put everything back together, the phone appeared to work fine at first, but I soon realised my wifi performance was really bad (1 bar 5 feet from router) and also my 4g was being weird (if it goes under 2 bars, it stops working and eventually after a few minutes shifts to 3g where it does work fine) I took the phone back apart to see if I missed anything, but the antenna are both plugged in properly and all the flex are plugged in.
Does anybody have any ideas?

I think I have figured out my problem, but I am not sure how to fix it. Hoping someone can help. I had an antenna contact bent over. When I went to bend it it broke the top portion off.
Any idea on how to fix or replace it? Also where to get a replacement part if needed.
Heya guys, to make a long story short, bought an S8 on ebay, Verizon G950U, and was told the camera didnt work and there was no IMEI etc...
Upon checking, the front camera has a torn connector. I fiddled around with the daughter board where the antenna connectors etc.. are, (breaking the speaker and its entire cover in the process) and sometimes I randomly get cellular back, but it doesnt stay for long. i'm not sure whats faulty, but I'm certain it has nothing to do with the mainboard. The latest time the connection popped back was when I tried moving the back cover back on, I guess something must have clicked. I already reinforced the wires and the surrounding connectors, but I cannot get cellular at will. Would replacing the board in it's entirety be a fool proof solution? Hoping for help on the matter.
EDIT: Not sure if it was coincedental, but Also during one of the times the cellular service returned, it was immediately when I plugged my headphones into the device.

I had a note 5 that cellular issues because the quik plugs for the antennas wore out and it did a similar type thing Once I swapped mbs it worked like a dream
