Are there any good VOIP/SIP providers in the US? Every article that I searched for on the site only brings up providers that serve Europe. Or do those serve the US as well?

Hi All,
Am just wondering if there are any Hero users here that live in Israel (city of Haifa to be exact)? Reason is that in a few weeks I will be making the (big) move from NZ to Haifa and am hoping that I could get some advice as to which carriers etc to go for. Not sure if it makes a difference but it is a long term move.
Thanks in advance
Welcom and Shalom
I'm Hero user,
I live in Jerusalem but because Isreal is very small there is no differences between Haifa, Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv
Ask me what ever you want,
I have GSM Hero and I have problem with specific cellular problem (900MHz and 850MHz issues)
i am from israel, raanana. on orange, and have no problem.
Thanks for the replies
I was just wondering about what sort of plans are available / costing / providers that are good?
Even any links to carrier websites would be awesome
Thanks again!
with 2G and doesn't have 3G network fully deployed (probably fine in Haifa)
there are tons of plans in each company, the best way is to call the companies,
all sites are in Hebrew - sorry but I didn't find English support (I believe Russian and Arabic support is available)
I can't upload the links because I'm a new user sorry,
contact me directly

Very useful thank you!
Does anyone know whether the 3G modem in the Xoom sold in the US uses a SIM? I can purchase one in the US with no contract & intend to use it in Australia with a local carrier's SIM.
However I can't work out whether it's SIM based?
The Xoom on Verizon cannot be used in Australia, as it is a CDMA device. The Wi-Fi Xoom presumably can, however.
(A compatible UMTS Xoom will be released somewhere soon, however)
I just read this. May be the news you're looking for.

If its delayed you still have hope with the AT&T flavor, just passed by the FCC offices.

Thanks all, May is just around the corner, we have a corporate account with Telstra so I'll try & nab one as soon as they hit!
Saves a lot of stuffing around!
NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--U.S. telecom operator AT&T Inc. (T) said Wednesday it has secured a license to operate in Indonesia, providing the telecommunications giant with a new catalyst to grow its enterprise business in Asia.
AT&T is the first foreign telecom operator to be granted a license in Indonesia. Previously, the company had to sell its service in partnership with local providers. A license allows AT&T to provide service directly to companies in the country, which can provide a boost to revenue and margins because the company doesn't have to share the pie.

If I buy a new smartphone designed for cellular operator "US Cellular", then the smartphone will work right away in all networks and all over the world? or will the phone be locked under this cellular operator and will it be necessary to unlock it?

US Cellular (aka USCC) doesn't own the towers used and are limited to certain states for non roaming use.
When roaming, once you reach a certain amount of data, they begin to call/email regarding this since they are under contract only for use with Verizon towers but, only in certain states and when using those towers outside the areas contracted, it's considered roaming.
It's hard to explain this because that is a weird company and how they operate.
There's a website similar to this one that's dedicated to US Cellular.
http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/
They can best answer questions regarding this company and how they operate.
Good Luck!

@bcfc, A US Cellular device is dedicated to US Cellular only.
I used to have US Cellular before and failed at carrying it over to other providers.
I'm sorry to give you the bad news but, because of this, I terminated my service and purchased a device where i can change providers if i wanted to.
Good Luck!

Hi,
Please can you tell me know if VoLTE works in Australia for Telstra which it the largest mobile network carrier in this country? Other companies rent the same network such as Boost Mobile. The reason this is really important to know is that all the main carriers here are discontinuing 3G service in mid 2024. I just found this article from Telstra which says that once they discontine their 3G network that the only way to send and recieve calls will be with VoLTE in a 4G area. Here is a link if anyone wants to read that article.

Please can anyone tell me if they've had success making VoLTE calls on the LG V20 especially using any of these inluded Rooted ROMs from these posts?
