My Magician always shut off below 35% Battery - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Anyone could help me how to solve this matter?
I just put on the table n using music for a few hours until the battery indicator below 35%, n suddenly it turn off by itself, whether I restart it again, til the Today Screen, going turned off again.
For delineation, I will give little explanation what I've done:
* I have read the post in others, like "lock" the little switch sensor behind the battery cover... I have done this, even with no battery cover attached, my magician could turn on.
Thanks....

Battery running out over night

Hey
My battery is emty every morning, and phone turned off. That is if the battery is under approx. 70-80% in the evening. Is it just a bad battery?
Anybody seen this problem before.
Hex3
Do you turn on the "Microsoft Direct Push" ?
When this feature is turned on, I also appeared that you have encountered a similar situation, but only consumes 40-50%
where can i check that, cant find it!! I have spb 3
Hex3
Look at your "Comm Manager"-"Microsoft Direct Push"
Found it. No its set to off, so thats not it. Maybe ill try a hardreset!
But thanks for the help
Hex3
hello
i have the same problem for 2 or 3 months now and i did not find a solution.
i bought a new battery but it did not help.
did you found a solution?
marbon
There is always a solution
Your device must have enabled the "turn off device" timeout (aka suspend timeout)
Don't let your device check your emails too often (once an hour is more than enough).
Use Advanced Config to enable GPRS disconnection timeout.
Don't let TF3D check for webpages updates too often.
Don't let RSS reader check for updates too often.
If your device has Wifi turned on all night, check if it turns off while your device is in suspend mode.
And of course, carefully choose applications that run in background - some of them may prevent your device from going to suspend mode.
(suspend mode is the most power-saving mode)
no, havent found the solution yet

Simply put your phone on charge and leave it like that for as long as you possibly can for as much of the time as you can.
Do not run a discharge cycle. Do not try to 'condition' the battery and as soon as you can recharge from an available power outlet.
I get 1.5 days from this and I would suggest that you should get the same.

What happen if you switch off your smartphone ( be carefull ....not suspend mode!)? Is the battery still draining?
Have you check the current delivered by your battery during your ''night stand by''?
The objective is to check if there is any extra leakage current in the main circuit board.

It should not be draining when it's off, it's should actually go up (happend to me).
Hi, i have had my TD2 for nearly 2 weeks and last night i had a similar issue, however my phone was not turned off it was in sleep mode.
Charged battery to full at around 5 p.m went and stayed at my girlfriends and when i woke up this morning the battery was dead, came home plugged in the charger and got no charging light.....oh dear i thought.
So i removed the battery and the sim blew on the contacts etc to remove any possible dust put it back together and now i get a charging light and all seems to be charging ok.
The only thing i did different yesterday was that i went on google maps for the first time and selected the use gps option so it was seeking satellites, when i exited google maps i made sure it was not running in the background.
Im just wondering wether it was still using power to search for sattelites as in my information screen in power it says i have had 8 hours standby and 10 hours 52 mins device usage and i know that is not the case.
To the OP >> Maybe check in your google maps to see if you have use gps selected?
I had same problem after I flashed my phone with new radio 4.48.25.13, after that I used some other raido rom and the problem was gone.
I had the same thing happen, but only once, it was after I was using a gps app in the evening, I had problems with it, it locked up and I terminated it instead of closing it, I assume the gps stayed on and drained the battery in short order.
Hi, no i have not turned the GPS in google maps on, so thats not it. Still trying some different things to narrow it down. Its not every night now, so maybe i have been lucky.....
Same story here...
In my case even worst. I got my TD2 last friday morning. The same afternoon I inserted a new microsd card with zorro-gps installed. The day after, while I was driving with the gps turned on, the phone died. I've thought it was running out of battery, but when i plugged the charger in, I could not see the red led turn on. So I had to remove and reinsert the battery in order to see the led work properly...
Unfortunately from that point the phone is not working properly anymore. While in use it dies and I cannot restart unless I remove and reinsert the battery. The problem is that this happens every 10 minutes...
I'm trying to contact the HTC support, but they are very elusive. They asked for my phone number and they said will call me back...
Did you guys try to change the batteries and see what happen?
No, didnt change the battery. Because its not every night i dont think the battery is the problem. And further more, it began about a month ago ( td2 is approx. 3 month)
FedeR1 maybe you should try hard reset!

If you are talking about Spb mobile shell 3.0.1 then this is a reason of the power drain.
See http://www.spbclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24616

Thank you Stephen, spb mobile shell is out, now we have to wait and see.

[Q] [Help] My battery is draining too fast, some soft problem ?

I bought this Hero off eBay, and it was dodgy since the begining.
The phone had cyanogen, and was restarting itself occasionally.
So i wiped it, installed 2.1 and it got fixed, but now i have a problem with battery drainage.
Its insance, 10minutes-10% im pretty sure its not supposed to be like that. with or without wifi/3d turned on, its just riddiculous.
I borrowed battery from a friend, and that didint make any change, i installed latest update from the autoupdate in the phone and still its bad. I read somewhere here that its faulty email app that keeps on trying to sync and drains battery, how do i fix that ?
I did a full wipe, cleared cache and everything back to factory settings, with no apps installed it goes from 100% to 0% in an hour.
I downloaded 2.1 from some android forum, as i was unable to find one here (there are only links to 1.5 on the xda.wiki WHY?)
If you can point me to a proper 2.1 (or higher?) software to download that doesnt do this crazy **** i'll be happy as infant on crack.
Please help, here is my software information:
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Baseband version: 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26
Kernel version: 2.6.29-063c4d24
Build number: 3.32.405.2 CL191507release-keys
Software number: 3.32.405
Browser version: WebKit 3.1
Try calibrating your battery it gave me a huge boost on my hero... went from getting 16hours day.. to about 30hours on a single charge!!
Every time you flash a new ROM you need to calibrate your battery. The battery meter in the OS (Android in this case) is generated based on the battery stats file.
Battery stats is erased when you flash a new ROM.
Easiest method of battery calibration when you're intending on flashing a ROM:
Ensure battery is fully charged according to the OS. Switch phone off, unplug charger and plug back in. Once light is green, leave charging for another 30 minutes (light goes green at approx 95% charge).
Switch on, flash ROM. Allow first boot to complete.
Shut phone off. Disconnect charger. Remove battery. Replace battery. Place on charge, light green, leave charging another 30 minutes, yadda yadda. Switch phone on, boot immediately to recovery. Wipe battery stats.
Boot phone up. Now would be a good time to install JuicePlotter. Use as normal. Do not charge, let the battery run down completely. When the phone shuts itself off, power it back on. Repeat process until it won't switch on anymore.
Remove the battery. Put the battery back. Turn the phone on. Repeat until it won't turn on anymore.
Now charge the battery on the mains to 100% while the phone is off, keep charging for 30 minutes after light goes green. Power on. Voila, fully calibrated battery.
The last part, run until completely dead and charge only needs to be done once in a while (this is calibrating the battery innards, not the battery stats)

hah, yea thats what i accidentally figured. phone was switching off, but when i powered it back on it had 30%.. and it was like that 3 or 4 times.
I ran it down completely and now am charging it till max, we'll see what happens. at worst i'lkl start your process from the beginning thx !
I diidnt know you had to do that. i've been playing with my G1 and not even once i had to calibrate that.. maybe i should
How'd it go? Any improvement on battery life?
it diidnt help I did what you quoted step by step and its still running down the battery like crazy :/ what else can i do ? im thinking of switching to 1.5 but thats just not progressive and my friends phone is running fine on 2.1, with the same battery even.
Edit: i've installed task killer and killed all the mail checking apps.. hope that is the problem
Edit2: it didint help at all, in 5 minutes i lost 15% fcuking hell !
I just switched to 1.5 and its still happening ! I using a different battery and its just as bad... why is this happening to me
ill try second to latest radio from xda wiki.. im running out of ideas, what else can i do ?
That really wierd... its not the battery if you have tried using different ones. Its not the ROM if u have changed it.
Have you tried disabling auto-updates? and auto-checks for emails. Which email client do you have? you should find the option to "sync-never" in the app settings.
Buying it from ebay is kinda ominous though.. was it described as faulty? perhaps you could contact the seller and request a refund is all else fails?
you can try using setcpu to underclock the cpu.
i have similar situation as you. before going to bed around 11pm, it showed 50% left, turned on airplane mode, then in the morning around 6am, phone was powered off.
now it has been 2 days, still have 20% left.

Did you ever take into consideration that some part of the hardware might be damaged?
Devices that got water damaged, sometimes show weird symptoms as well:
- They still boot up and seem to work well from the first sight
- The battery drains very quickly
- Some of the peripherals are not working stable or not starting up anymore (e.g. wifi, bt, gps)
- Other crazy things might happen as well (e.g. random reboots, backlight flicker, etc.)
So you might have a look at the mainboard. Red stickers indicate water damage!
Regards,
scholbert
Yea but if it were damaged would it show 50% battery after restarting thinking it had reached 5% ? i dont have the tools or will to unscrew it.
i paid 100 pounds fo it, the normal price of a used hero, but the auction said "phone restarts for no reason" and they do not accept returns, so im propably screwed :I
I had an old blackberry 8300 curve, i had it in the bathroom while i was showering, got too moist, turned the detection pads red but phone seemed to work fine after i dried it out. But the battery went to crap progressively in the manner. I would charge to 100%, take it off the charger and maybe an hour it would say less than 10%, do a battery pull and it would go back up to maybe 80% and last maybr another hour and keep doing that till it would normally drain on top od the numerous reboots i would be doing until eventually it would just drain and die.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Can dead pixels cause this ? i have like three.. but then again why would it show 50% after restarting from 5%..
the thing is its not draining the battery, just registering it wrong

sorry mate i have tried everything unsuccessfully and returned the phone to the seller.. dont tell me you bought it ? (london)
No, but i have a samsung galaxy tab and experience similar symtoms. It does not bother me too much, the battery life is still great. Just the percentage is off and i need to restart from time to time.
I read similar complaint from droid x forum too.

Opinions Please!!!!

Sighhhhhhh ...... the case:
- Playing Haning with Friends (Zynga) with phone plugged into charger
- Fell asleep, left game on screen
- woke up next morning, phone was hot enough to burn
- turned off, removed battery etc, allowed phone to cool.
- turned back on, so far (it's been about 4 hours since I woke up) phone randomly goes off
- doesn't seem to be linked to any particular activity or time frame - within 5 - 15mins it goes off, sometimes on a call it goes off
Is it a lost cause? :crying: Or something that I can do to fix it? Or something that will correct itself with time? Change the battery perhaps (though all the battery monitors say battery is fine hrmph!)
Opinions will be really appreciated.
Cheers,
Mex.

I'd try to change battery. You should find cheap ones online easily.
What about taking pictures with flash? My phone dies from time to time because of its (supposed) dead battery when taking pictures or when ringing.
Surprisingly enough, there are A LOT of battery threads in these days.. it's obviously a conspiracy
Maybe ur battery is completely dead?
Battery juice might have all burnt out.
My laptop dies 5 minutes after I unplug the charger.

Does the phone turns itself off even when pluged in?
If yes, then maybe its a hardware problem
If not, its definetely a battery's problem. In this case, try running complete discharging and charging cyrcles (2%->100%) and leave it pluged in for 8-12 hours, even if it says fully charged.
Any signs of swelling on the battery?
And when your phone goes off randomly.. What is its temperature like? I mean does it get hot and then turn off?
Thanx for all the feedback.
I discovered a couple of hours later that it is indeed the battery.
Doesn't go off when plugged in.
Battery monitors say the battery is fine but it can hop, step skip from 30% to 9% in a short whatsapp chat.
No bulging or heating, just goes off
On the up side I guess its a blessing that its not a hardware issue.
New battery it is then... What are the chances of successfully suing Zynga for the replacement lol, the game should come with a warning!!!
Tnx.
Mex.

Wifi abnormal behavior

I don't know why my wifi was malfuntioning. Last night i've installed Real Racing 3 after that, the game need to download the data which is 1Gb+. Downloading that size is way too long to wait so i've decided to sleep. Before i go to sleep, I've put the charger because my battery was only 20% and i know downloading that size could empty my battery i dont want that to happen. I turn my backlight in the lowest settings because the downloading screen on the game was not turning the light off and the last was i've activated the power saving mode.
Today, when i woke up, a glimpse on my S4 to check if my download was done, there's pop-up saying connection error, and the download was on 81%, i quickly pick-up the phone to check whats wrong and WTF!!! My S4 screen was very HOT. I cannot believe its still alive on that temp that can almost melt my plastic protector casing. It's reaaly hot just like a flat iron. What i did was pull out that plastic protector. The phone itself was much hotter than the protector cover. I quickly pull the back cover, pull the battery and put everything infront of electric fan. After a few minutes everything were in cool temp. I put the battery back and the back cover, turned it on, then after the start-up completed i've pulled the status bar because i want to continue the downloading. Then my problem comes... The color of WIFI icon was NOT green(ON) and not even grey(OFF) its slight darker green, its in the state of turning to green(ON). I've tap and hold it to open the wifi menu and then, i've noticed that it's really turning to ON.... But it never turned on. I've turn it off and on nothing's changed. After a few forum reading, i manage to turn my wifi on by deleting the root/data/misc/wifi/wpa_suplicant.conf. Because someone saying that the wifi driver cannot read it and have to delete to force the system to make another one and its true. Ofcourse, i did a backup. But my wifi cannot remember my passkey after i turned it off.
Please help me... Did i damage some hardware? I really love my s4.
Anyone can help me here pls..

[Q] Galaxy Note 3 massive battery drain and power button problem.

Hey guys.
My first post ever, so please bare with me.
I made a big mistake updating to 4.4.2 coz I've had only problems since that. I have a rooted SM-N9005 with a Danish carrier. I have read and read and read for at fix, but can't seem. to find on. . My problem is this.. I can have a fully charged battery, unplug the phone and can, by using the power button, turn the phone off and on again. BUT if I pull the battery out and insert it again after 10 sec, then the phone doesn't turn on. It only turns if it gets the power cord in again. That's the first problem.
The second on is the battery drain. I have done a dalvik clean, cache partition clean, factory reset, soft reset, hard reset, uinstalled pretty much every app that I have... nothing helps. I even bought a new battery.
Can you guys help me or guide me in the right direction on what to do??
Thank you in advance
Can't help with your first problem, sorry.
How quickly is your battery draining? Can you post a screenshot? And more details - custom/stock ROM, kernel etc.
You can try and pin down what is the biggest battery hog with Better Battery Stats.

Hey B3311
Thanks for the reply
A couple of screen shots. Even when using BBS I haven't been able to pin point the exact cut print
Dreadful drain indeed....
Can you see what's under "partial wakelocks" and "kernel wakelocks" in BBS?
You had wifi on but still huge drain when the screen was off and the phone was asleep, hence I'm thinking wakelock - something is stopping your phone from sleeping. But you need BBS or Wake Lock Detector to pin it down.
They can be a ***** to find, but can be zapped.

Hey Jdomadia
Pretty much everything is off.. data . GPS.. Bluetooth and so on.. I'm still wondering if my problem is due to the power button issue that I'm having
Hi Bro i had the same problem the source of it is the developper option just desable them from settings and every thing will be normal again i hope that works for you too
Hey Abdel310
That never cross my mind. Better Google how to disable them once I have enabled them. Bro, I tried everything so I'm gonna try this straight away!!
Just did it, and man if that helps I'll be the happiest camper you'll ever see
i had the same problem i left my phone fully charged and i go to sleep and at the morning i found it off and 0 % battery and no apps runnig just try it and full charg it and it will not drain battery at lest in the sleep mode
Sadly disabling the developer option didn't fix the problem..
it still drain battery in sleep mode ?
the latest screen shots from better battery stats. I can't find any partial wake lock that seems to cause the drain
It's starting to sound more like a malfunctioning battery itself. Especially considering your first issue.
Have you tried a different battery?
Also try it without the SIMcard. A malfunctioning SIM can also cause these issues. (Happened to me back on 4.3. Drained 12%/h, not a single wakelock and 98% deep sleep. No SIM, no drain. New SIM fixed it.)

If you can get your hands on another battery, just to test, try that (could be you bought a bummer battery) Do you have any friends with Note 3 you can swap batteries with just to see what it does?
Hey Burtcom
tanks for the reply. I can't believe that it's the battery, without knowing for sure. I'm still wondering if my problem is due to the power button issue.. as I mentioned, if I remove a fully charged battery from the phone and reinsert it, then the phone won't turn on. it will only turn on with a power cord.
Now my phone drains the battery even when the phone is off.. like completely turn off.
