My speed dial list look like the attached. But at the same time, I have icons in my window folder looking different.
Does anybody know how to change the buttons?
------------------------------------
it is possible but somethig is wrong in WM6. There are 4 gif files in the windows directory that relate to the call history and speed list buttons. I've installed a skin, soft reset, opened the actual gif files to make sure they were skinned with the correct image, then go into the phone app and sure enough, it's using the default icons. It's a bug in WM, either related to the phone app itself or some sort of icon cache.
I've installed the same skin before and the buttons showed the correct image. Not sure why it's reverting back to the default ones. I think it's a registry entry that's been removed.
Can someone export or copy/paste their registry for /hklm/security/phone/skin/ to this thread and I will review it against mine?
here's the fix to get the file that's in the windows directory to actually show up on the call history and speed list buttons

So far, I have come to the following conclusions (TyTN II):
1. Per default one have the speed dial and call history bottons that are in the file phcanOverbmp.dll - but then I have to keep the funny looking 3G icon that are on TyTN II,
2. The funny looking 3G icon can be changed, but when you change it, it will mess up your Call History buttons (not your Speed Dial button).

3. If I instead delete the string HKLM\Security\ResOver
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/485166-post195.html
- or delete phcanOverbmp.dll - that gives me the icons that are in the windows folder: spd_lst.gif, clg_in.gif, clg_out.gif, clg_missed.gif. But then I have to keep the funny looking default 3G icon.
Anybody knows how to change the 3G icon AND either keep the default Call history or get Call history that are in the windows folder?
Hello all,
you know that when you tap the button 'call history' in today screen you get back to windows mobile - which is not so finger friendly and not so good lookin either.
My question is this:
Where can i edit the action of that 'call history' button? i wish it to open a different application.
i tryed ssmapa but it cant do it.
i think i need to edit a registry key or a manila file somewhere but i just dont know which one.
oh, i know there is a tweak putting a call history tab - I don like it and i dont need any more tabs.
thank you.
I too would like to know. When I installed Icontact, and the black dialer, my phone goes into Icontact from Phone->contacts in the black dialer, but i would like it to go to Icontacts from call history on the today screen, that would be nice
The author of SSMaPa claims that the call history is too much integrated in the whole system and so it shouldn't be changed. On the other hand - there should be a way.
i think it should be a way. as it knows to open a ccertain app for call history, it can open another
as i said, i think it is a registry key or a manila file
please help
yes i am looking for this information too
anybody?
Any one knows how to remove the link from the TF3D clock
What i'm trying to fix is that sometimes i inadvertently click on the clock and accidentally change the time...i don't need to go to the Alarms becuase I use SPB time so i would like to just completely remove the link.
Any suggestions?
this action is set up in a .lua file that controls the behavior of hitting the clock...not sure which one...probably embedded in the home.mode9_manila file
My lock screen is no longer displaying the next appointment, even if the appointment is that particular day. Is this something to do with the 1.66.405.2 WWE ROM? Is there a registry setting that can be changed to fix it?
Bump. No ideas anyone?
my lock screen has never displayed appointments or tasks?! how to enable that.Dutty's 1.66
Is there a way to disable that from the lockscreen please
Thanks
It only shows imminent appointments for today and tomorrow. Anything after that isn;t shown
I am asking if someone knows the reg key which i can change that will stop displayingappointments on the lockscreen
Thanks
Not a reg key, no, but you could look in windows/lockscreen folder and find the file LS_LockScene_480x800.cpr
copy to your pc, edit it with a text editor,(notepad) look at the section near the bottom,
erase everything from (and including)
<Layer ID="TimeAppointment" Top="540">
all way down to but NOT including
</LS_LockScene>
put the file back in windows/lockscreen and reboot. You will only see the slider on the lockscreen
To keep the time, erase less of the lines. Look carefully at that section, its easy to work out whats what.
Can someone provide me with a cab that would allow me to touch the alarm icon indicator on the home page (just below clock and above calendar) that would jump me to the "alarm settings" page? I am new to the HD2 and the only way I can find to navigate to the alarms is through Settings>all settings>clocks & alarms. Alternatively, I would like a way to create a quicklink to such things as Alarms; sounds; and system. I am not brave enough to use registry editor yet, so something simple would be helpful. I am using an unlocked TMo on ATT. Thanks
ROM: 2.10.531.1
ROM Date: 2/22/10
OS: 5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87
see the control panel items link in my sig.
Really? Can't you just tap the clock and then navigate using the tabs? I have the tmous version.
(lol i did think that, too, on mine i tap the alarm button on the homepage below the clock to get htc alarms, but that was so obvious i assumed the OP meant windows alarms, heh.)
Yeah... that functionality is already there... :S
Jump to Alarms
Perhaps I am missing something, but it does not work for me to "tap the clock" to get to the clock or the alarms. Nor does it work for me to "tap the alarm" indicator. The only way for me to get to the clock or the alarm is the method that I described earlier. Nothing happens at all if I tap the clock or by tapping the alarm indicator. If there is some way to set the clock on the home page to respond to my "tap" then I don't know what it is and would appreciate someone telling me how to do it. I will investigate the method mentioned above by samsamuel about setting shortcuts to control panel items tomorrow and post my results.
have you been messing with cookies home tab settings? because that program can set what program ( if any ) comes up when you tap areas of the screen.
failing that i'd be backing up and hard resetting.
Hmm
Since i got my phone Orange UK i have been able to tap the alarm icon to go straight to the settings.

Can't access clock / alarm from home tab
Samsamuel: Thanks for the control panel quick links work around. I've created the shortcut links following your directions and was then able to add a quick link on my home page to go directly to the clock / alarm. In my case it actually takes me to the alarm page first which is just what I needed. I'm still unsure why I need this if other users are able to access their clock and alarm directly. You asked about messing with home tabs and cookies. I have not done that (or at least not on purpose that I know of). How do you conduct a "hard reset"? I've installed the one touch "soft reset" cab which works great, but hasn't fixed my clock problem. If I do a "hard reset" will I have to reload my contact data, quicklinks, reload the cabs I've installed, etc? I'm just a new guy trying to get my phone to do what I need. Thanks to everyone that has helped so far.
to be honest you're better off using the windows alarms anyway, i don't quite trust the htc one just yet, not that its failed, it just doesn't seem quite as solid.
to hard reset, remembering that this is a factory reset, phone is wiped, so back up ya stuff, power off the phone, press and hold both vol up and vol down. it can be a touch tricky, i find you get a better press with the battery cover off,,,, press and hold those two, and tap and release power. phone should start into bootloader but immediately turn grey with blue writing. you can release the vol now.
Windows vs HTC clock / alarm
How do I know whether I'm accessing the windows or HTC clock / alarm? The control panel quicklink I've established takes me to a page that looks like my old windows phone alarm page. Is the item on the homepage (which doesn't work) supposed to take me to an HTC clock / alarm? If I do a hard reset, it sounds like I'll have to reload all of the cabs I've just installed (task manager, battery indicator, zoomer, keyboard, soft reset, etc.). I presume that my sim card contacts will be left alone. Is there another way to reset / clear cookies without doing the hard reset?
If you do have Co0kie's Home Tab installed, run the CHTEditor, go to the applications page and click on Alarm. Then, select "Default" (bottom right softkey) and "Menu", "Exit" and apply changes (if it asks). If it doesn't ask if you want to apply changes then it was already set as the default application and something else must be at work here.
Windows clock vs HTC
I do not have CoOkies Home Tab. From what everyone is saying, my home page is not responding properly, but I don't know why. I am willing to do the hard reset, but would rather not go that route unless it is necessary since I will have to reload a bunch of stuff.
I would definitely consider a hard reset if the quick links are not working.
I'm not convinced that the HTC alarm is less reliable than the windows mobile one since the HTC alarm is just a nice interface setting the windows alarms!
