go to hklm\software\oem\voicecommand and set the value of "launchapenable" from 1 to 0
when activating voicedial from your headset (press connect button at the headset 2 sec.) it diverts all audio to the bluetooth.
works also with musik.
pressing the button again it disconnects the bluetooth and the main speakers are active again.
in this case the original voice dial does not work anymore until you change the value back to 1.
for me a good solution because i don't use voice dial and prefer insted skype and headset.
Very good tip...will try that!
Cheers...!
Works on QTEK S100 with Jabra Bt 250 Headsets?
Do you happen to know if the BT specification of the EXEC allows it to transmit stereo audio? Say from a mediaplayer to a BT car kit?
If so, that would send me over the edge and Id have to buy a BT carkit!
...ohh, on 2nd thoughts, it would also depend on the bandwidth too. Anyone know what sort of frequency range BT stereo may be limited to?
for stereo output is another reg.hack needed i think. because pushing the voicedial button at the handset it activates the bluetooth headset profile for listening to the voice but voicedial doesnt start. so you can use it for normal micro and loudspeaker.
maybe anybody knows how to activate in this case the "high quality audio profile" by editing the registry instead of "headset profile"?
Great job, The sound (in music) is good ? i tested this but the sound wasnt good.... I think my headset isnt good for music.
yes it depends on the bluetooth profile. for good quality "high quality audio" (A2DP) profile is needed.

would this work on a blueangel running WM5?

No it does not work in QTEK s100....
Works -but not great
very tinny muffled sound on my moto HT 820, was hoping it would work as well as the bluetooth stack update for the magician.
Sound does come out in both ears on my stereo phones. but I dont desire to listern to the tinny sound.
Still great find and discovery. Just hope someone can progress it to A2DP asap.
sorry, but can anybody tell me how to edit the registry in WM5? I never did it before. What tool do you guys use? Is it something free?
Thanks.
I used PHMREGedit
Here's the link:
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml
andyes....it's free.
Tried it with my BT200
I know the registry works....but cannot get it to play on the headset.
It works...becos upon pressing the phone button on the head set for 2 sec, the audio comes from the handset. On redoing it again, the audio goes off from the handset.
Mine is working fine. I really like the way its now.
Thanks a lot.
Ooops....
my Bt200 wasn't working. That's why there was no audio coming from it.
Need to figure out why there is no audio coming from the headset.
Sigh another problem!
So basically, the registry works.
Im using Total Voice COmmander and it works with WMP.. No need to install another software to play music thru BT.
I just press my Jabra headset twice and it goes "Say Command".. then I say "Play a music"..
Sometimes it's stubborn and Calls someone or Says "Today you have no Appointment" but I guess with a lot of practice, my Dopod understood what Im saying and played me a song.. Now, Im having trouble with my Dopod catching the title of the song i want it to play. I've placed voice tags on the songs and 50% of the time, my dopod got it right.. got to work on the other 50% though..
...this guy got it working so it's possible.

I received my HT-820 this morning.
I followed this guide and have successfully listened to music over the headset.
I've also recorded a voicemail message so the phone function seems to work.
Hello.
I got my Qtek S110 to work with the Motorola HT 820 too, but I have some problems.
- there are glitches in the playback. I think due to the fixed 195kbps connection rate (the device must transform the music played).
- I have more gitches and stops when the bitrate of the music is over 195 kbps.
- if I turn the audio redirection and auto mute on then I can not hear anytheng (eg. ringtone) when the headset swithed off. I have to manually turn off the redirection.
- the redirection only works with MS Media Player.
Is there any idea to solve this issues?

If you read the HT820 quickk start guide,
http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/manuals/QG-HT820HdPhns.pdf
It says that "Note: You may need to wait several seconds before
hearing music in the headphones while the devices
connect."
This is why the first few seconds of the song/track are skippy. If ther are ever connection problems, the same thing happens midway through the song.
When you turn the headphone off, you need to turn the bluetooth audo settings off as well.
These issues make me believe that this patch/update is only a beta/test version and not the real thing, especially as the Bluetooth on the HT820 is done by the same people that made this patch (CSR)
http://www.csr.com/pr/pr210.htm
Still the patch is an advancement for the Magician. Just have to work around it
quick question to ht820 owners,
can you tell me if you can use these headphones for voice dial?
bluetake bt450 cannot, you have to dial via phone, then headset can be used to hangup.
thanks

I would answer that question but I've never used voice dial. is that what Microsoft Voice Command is used for?
What I CAN tell youthough, is that on the second page of the manual, it tells you how to "make a voice dial call"
http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/manuals/QG-HT820HdPhns.pdf
thanks for the reply,
reading the instructions in "make call" first instruction says "hold button then speak after tone"
bluetake doesn't have that function
thanks again
two final questions, if you don't mind,
are they supplied with audio cable to use with non bluetooth music player?
and is the audio quality good or great or just ok?
thanks again again

I don't mind.
Yes, there is an audio cable that will connect the headset's 2.5mm socket with a regular 3.5mm one.
The audio quality is as good as I've heard. Any audio problems you get with the PDA will be due to the bluetooth patch which I believe is still experimental.
The HT820 works very nicely particularly if the Magician is tweaked with Pocket Hack Master. The skips are barely noticeble and the lag at the beginning of each track is minimised. Voice Dialing works flawlessly with Cyberon Voice Speed Dial...the HT820 mic relays the command to the Magician...BUT...same issue with MVC...you don't hear the voice command relayed from the Magician back to the headset.
The one thing that I have not been able to work is the "resume playback after a phone call" even with the option ticked off in /menu/options/playback in Windows Media Player. Everytime I answer a call or make a call, WMP reverts back to the default Library opening screen. I've read in the other thread that others have had it working the way it should.
Any ideas?

Where can I get this pocket hack master?
I did't change any of the settings and mine automatically resumes playback after answering a call.
www.pocketgear.com ....cost 15 bucks.... worth it IMHO
download the trial and give it a spin... buy it if it works for you....
you'll be able to overclock or underclock your cpu speed and set certain fixed speeds for certain applications... I've found that different settings works best for different machines...tried it on three different Magicians with different ROMS and different applications... the settings that works best for my Jam and the HT820 are :
CPU between 260 to 520
Bus between 104 to 117
Ram between 52 to 59
LCD between 52 to 59
you've got to find what works for you... Not perfect mind you, but certainly a LOT better then without...like I said I barely notice the skips and depending on the CPU speed set, the delay at the front of each new track can be cut to a split second... all my tracks are at 192 kbps BTW... mow if only I can get the darn WMP to resume play after a call ...

This topic may be of interest to those who have the Motoroal HT820 bluetooth headset, and want to tweak music playback.
I prefer to untick "automute" so that I can hear the phone ring and can issue Voice Commands with MS Voice Command. Problem I was having, every time I opened Windows Media Player to stream music, it would blare out of the internal speaker as well. Here's the fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=226814#226814
I´ve installed the cab file and activated the "stream audio" option, my headset is registered and connected, but it is not available in the list of headsets where i checked the "stream audio" box. The list is empty. Maybe just working with stereo headsets ?
Hey all i've followed the prompts time and time again but i come up with the issue that once connected to the ht820 and i open windows media player to play a song the following error msg pops up:
"Bluetooth is turned off. Bluetooth audio has been disabled. Enable Bluetooth audio by turning on Bluetooth, then select Use Bluetooth audio again."
I switch bluetooth off and on and the same msg pops back up when i go to play a song!!!
WTF???
I'm thinking that because i've installed this hack and the other bluetooth hack and removed soo many times i might be in need of a hard reset!
Help so i dont have too PLEASE

Make sure Bluetooth is on and the phone is not in flight mode.
If all else fails, backup your data (xbackup) and hard reset.
Hi
I want to know if the Motorola HT820 works with my Xda II following all the steps you say here?
I have ROM 2.20.07
Thanks
Greetings,
I'm using a Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 stereo Bluetooth headset with my TyTN and so far I have only one gripe - when the headset is connected, the ring tone somes through the handset only, not the phone itself, which means that I'll miss any incoming calls if I don't have the earbuds inserted.
Also, the ring tone sometimes does not start until about 20 seconds after the display has started to announce the incoming call.
I tend to have the earbuds hanging from my neck if I'm not listening to music, and the ring tone is not loud enough to be heard that way.
I suspect this may be by design, because it's assumed that a stereo Bluetooth headset is always in/on the ears when connected to the phone, but I want to use the 970 as my only headset even when I'm not about to listen to music.
Is there any way to get a ring tone from both headset and phone?
/POL
?
Anyone figure this one out yet? I have the same problem...
same here, anyone find a solution please post, I think I can change it from the registry I will check it.
Can I ask you folks a question relating to the use of the headset Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 with the HTC Hermes...do you get all the functionality ie caller ID, the ability to accept and reject the call, compatible with mediaplayer etc.
I have a concern that with the headset not being a HTC product, perhaps some of the Sony functionality may not work with the handset.
Thx
From my experience the ringtones will not come to the speaker if you use the headset as wireless stereo. I only use the headset as handsfree, which makes the ringtones go through the phone.
I used the DS970 for two week with my O2 Trion, feature like Caller Display is No any problem,But when using media player sometime it may out of control, like cann't accept call and control volume or stop.
And the sound quality is acceptable, but it will stop few second after 1 or minutes, I have change the regedit.
May I know is there any way to fix it?
Still no solution?
Anyone come up with a solution to this problem? It really bugs me not to get a ringtone from the unit itself, just thru headset... Works just fine with my old mono handsfree, would be great to have it in the stereo heaseat to...
i have the same problem
hello i have the same problem
the ring sound is only on my headset i have tested with 1.13.097fr and now 1.13.234fr if anybody have the ring on the phone with a headset stereo a2dp cang give us is configuration rom and other soft for the bluetooth.
thank and sorry for my english
juste a little frenchy
There seams as if there's no solution in sight, I got the exact same problem, also with HBH-DS970 and with Jetware Mobile's "Hands-free extension" installed.
I'm still running WM5, anyone who have tried WM6?
/Fluff
Same "design feature" here with my HBH-DS970 and HTC S710 WM6 Smartphone, so it's not ROM, device or OS version specific. I would suggest this is by design.
I'm pretty sure this is by design since thats how it works on my BT8010. Its stereo so it seems to make sense all sounds go through headset although it would be nice if it was an option. The BT8010 has a button on the headset to take it out of music mode so then they will go through the phone but I guess that doesn't help any of you out much.
Another option would be to just uncheck wireless stereo in the pairing and just check it back when you want to do wirelss stereo.
I just cannot believe my ears. I have used my Qtek S200 with a SonyEricsson stereo BT headset for months with great results (some occasional drops but very seldom). Today I bought a P3600, paired the headset and guess what? A2DP output is not stereo. I couldn't be more upset!

I haven't tried yet with the P3600 but answering calls and resuming music used to work with the Qtek S200 and the SE HBH-DS970. I will try and let you know.
One thing I found with my old setup was that when resuming music sometimes the headset volume would be set to 0 and I had to turn up the volume.
----------
PS: I have tried a couple of times now and it seems to be working. It takes a few seconds for the music to resume but it does. I think the trick is to end the call using the headset button, not the phone button.
not only in 3600!!
It looks to be a Mobile 5 feature. I found same reg key in same state pn Eten Glofiish X500. after applying change, x500 also started stereo. I am using SE stereo BT headset and it works for stereo..
May be this is disabled because it may result in bad quality on mono headsets..

ok, thanky you - I will have a try again ... we will see. Did you managed with the in build pocket player?
Yes I am using the inbuilt windows media player.
I've been checkin' some things in the registry too... and i've found that "Quality" is set to '30'. Somewhere on the Hermes wiki (i think), i've read that this is only medium quality. I saw this list with diffent quality-grades, with '48' mentioned for the 'good' quality.
Does anyone know if it can harm either the headset (Jabra 620s) or the Trinity, or can i safely set it to a higher quality level ?
I stand to be corrected, but the figure of 48 seems be referring to the 'bits-per-second' of an audio stream. Based on this assumption I do not think that any damage could be done.
Hi,
I search for joinstereo in registry but no result. Would you pls post the full path in registry?
Another problem I find with my iclip, I can listen to music. But when I use phone book to dial, it just give a continuous tone. If I dial by numnbers, it works. Any similiar problem for other BT stero headset.
My mono headset has no such problem.

That's correct, should have mentioned it clearer...
It's from the key "BitPool", which is set to 30. But there's also a key called "MaxSupportedBitPool" that's also set to 30.
My actual question would be; can it do any harm if a change the "MaxSupportedBitPool"-key into 48 as well ? Cause that might just be hardware related...

Cannot really say if any damage will be done, but then what damage can be done? You could take a full backup of the device and try changing the two registry settings you mentioned. At the most perhaps no sound will be heard, in which case you can restore the device from the backup taken.

Got it. Thanks.
Searched the Blackstone forums but did not find any post/thread regarding this particular problem .....
I'm a new Blackstone owner (and a newbie on this forum). Love the device but one major issue I have is that ringtones dont come through via the BT headset. I have assigned different ringtones to people and based on the tone of an incoming call, I should be able to screen calls without looking at the phone ..... or so I thought.
My phone : Blackstone (ROM 1.14.405.X). Dec/7 hotfix from HTC installed (since ROM is older than 1.19)
My BT : Jabra BT3030 stereo headset (AVRCP works fine)
Can anyone please help ?
Thanks !!
Try assigning a long ringtone as there is a lag and this may be cutting off the ringtone
Thanks winwiz. Tried that without luck. I only get the default beep-beep in the BT headset warning me of the incoming call ......
Bump !!
Can anyone of you folks help me with this ?
I tried a few tricks - set a looooong ringtone (2 minute song) ...... selected a single ringtone for all contacts ...... but no luck, still get only beep-beep via the BT stereo headset for incoming calls, while the phone itself plays the correct ringtone.
Funny thing though - music comes through fine on the BT (A2DP works fine) and I'm also able to control music without issues (AVRCP also works fine).
Any help/suggestions are welcome !!
Cheers !!

I'm a little out of touch with the very latest gear - BUT - would the headset output the ringtone?? Surely it just has it's own ringtone that is the only one it can play, whenever a call comes in?
It seems to me that to send the .mp3 file over bluetooth to a device that doesn't seem big enough to have a full codec supply would tax the Bluetooth bandwidth somewhat!

A2DP is used for stereo music, not for talking. Maybe its just not possible (with your headset). But I'm quite unexperienced with bluetooth headsets .

Hello Riceburner .... today's Bluetooth headsets do indeed play your phone ringtone. But it should have A2DP feature that allows music to stream in and your phone should also have A2DP to "send" the music to your headset.
The .mp3 file does not get sent to the bluetooth .... the mp3 plays on your phone as a ringtone when you get a call and the A2DP feature then streams it to your BT headset where you then hear the ringtone.
This can have a lag of even a few seconds, hence the suggestion from winwiz a few posts back to use a long playing ringtone.
johnpatcher - A2DP is indeed not for talking, but it is necessary for the ringtone to play in your headset until you answer the call at which time the traditional bluetooth kicks in to handle voice.
Cheers !!
Can anyone help ?
Here is a consolidation of the issue and my attempts to overcome :
My phone : Blackstone (ROM 1.14.405.X). ROM date Oct/24/2008
Any hotfixes : Yes - since ROM is older than 1.19, applied the Dec/7/2008 hotfix from HTC that addresses screen freeze during multi clicks.
My Bluetooth headset : Jabra BT3030 stereo headset (A2DP and AVRCP works fine with the Touch HD phone)
Problem : Phone ringtone does not play through the BT headset. I get only a "beep-beep" on the BT headset for incoming calls, while the phone itself plays the correct ringtone.
Tried the following :
1) set a long ringtone (2 minute long song) as suggested by winwiz. No luck
2) Selected a single ringtone for all contacts. Still no luck
3) Paired the exact same BT headset with another phone (symbian OS) and it works perfectly - A2DP, AVRCP as well as phone ringtone comes through via the headset. Frustrated !!!
Any help/suggestions are welcome !!
Could this be a WinMo issue as opposed to a Blackstone bug ? Found the following thread ........

I have a BT headset too that can A2DP. (SE DS-980) I don't think its meant for it to transfer ringtones as what one poster mentioned. Anyway, whenever my phone rings, I can hear the tone from my phone and a common single tone from the headset then the contact info is displayed in the LCD so I know who's calling. Another option is if you have MSVC, you can set it to alert you who is calling and only through the BT headset when it connected. That way you'd know who's calling you.

thanks kieboy
guess i'll install MSVC
I use my A2DP headset to listen to music on my embedded helmet speakers while in my bike. And of course, to answer calls too. So, looking to the phones screen isn´t a option and the custom ring tones would be VERY usefull
but, if there's no other work around...
