X1 FM Radio Issues - XPERIA X1 General

Does anyone else have a problem with the FM radio on the X1?
On my X1 the FM radio only seems to work when it feels like it. Often sitting saying "Powering On..." and not doing anything else. It something crashes the phone as well.
Also, is there any way to soft-reset without popping the battery? Like other HTC devices having the soft-reset button which you use the stylus to press.
(I'm using the (Nov 21) Touch-IT X1 M-HD 1.1 ROM with Panels and the SE FM Radio installed afterwards. The HTC FM radio has the same issues.)

Noticed that now using the radio as well - had to soft reset.
No idea though, also looking for a solution.
Something unrelated - does anyone know how to save the radio stations??
Whenever I change the panel, and back again, the stored radio stations in slots 1,2,3,etc are lost..

i cannot solve your issues but i have one of my own.
in the intructions it shows a settings menu button on the bottom right of the screen but on my voda it shows the live button.
this means i cannot acess the settings menu and yes i have tried the settings going into the pannel mode.
can anyone with aan unbranded x1 please tell me if they have the settings button.
i cannot set my aalarm or get any rds features due to the button missing.
thank you for your help

My problem solved itself - wierd.
There's a setting button??
All I see at the bottom are the standard "agenda" and "SPB Menu" (I have SPB menu installed). (Stock Dutch ROM)

Yeah if you look at the pannels quick manual that come in the box it shows a settings menu but i dont have it all i ahve is a live button from vodadumb
have a look cause you should be able to recieve traffic and rds feeds as well as setting an alarm on the radio pannel so the radio wakes you up. all of this i cannot do.

Booger. I can't access the settings also then.
Stuff the panels idea - is there a Radio Application?? (one which can run while I have FB panel open?)

i dont knw hope someone does tho

There is a soft reset button,
1) remove the battery cover
2) take out the stylus.
3) you can find now a small hole you can put the stylus in next to the battery (when the stylus is inside the mobile, it will block this hole), put the stylus in this hole and press the button inside it.
here you go, soft reset

I do think they were a bit dumb about the reset button.
Surely the whole point of a reset button is so you DO NOT have to remove the battery cover?
Its quicker to pull the battery out than to operate the reset button which makes it near pointless. Especially as getting the X1 cover off can be tricky, and once you get it off trying to get it to STAY back on is problematic.

how did we get onto the soft reset topic? this is nothing i was talking about.
My problem and many other people have noticed a missing menu in the radio pannel.
on the bottom right of the screen should be a settings menu but its not there? WHY?
people with or without a branded phone dont have the menu specified in the instructions.
Can anyone have a look at the instructions and look at there radio pannel to see if they have it.
and im not talking about the one when you enter pannel mode

i cant seem to start the Radio anymore. the on/off buttons dousnt respont.
the other buttons still working. running WM6.5 on it.
anyone got a solution for me?

The Red Button

Hi,
I would like to know if there is any way that you can tweak the registry or install any application to enable the red button to close (or minimise) the phone dialer after completing the call (as you would do on a normal phone). It seems really silly to drag out the stylus to close (or minimise) the phone dialer after receiving a call.

Just assign record button to OK/Close function.
Red button problem
Well, I can't even get my red button to turn off the phone (although it says in the manual that it does this). Which means that I have to get out my stylus to turn the phone off if I, say, pop into the library. Even then the stylus click (2 clickes, as it brings up a menu first) doesn't always work, and when it does it is slow. I just want to pres a button , and IDEALLY WITHOUT HAVING TO OPEN THE CASE (but that's anotheer topic!). Has anyone else had this problem; do you know how to solve it?
@Cathy
Hi, Have you done a soft reset? Try .
Have you install new programs recently?

This is a known bug. It just doesn't work the way the manual describes. Currently, I know of no way around it, although I think everyone wants that feature back, so I guess HTC will fix it in a future ROM upgrade.

Radio off app for XDAII?

Just wondering if anyone knows or can quickly create a little applet (not java!) that can quickly switch the radio functionality of the XDAII? The manual clicking of that aerial icon is a pain. I guess the aerial functionality is probably accessing some DLL or something? Maybe it'd be a quick job?
Switching Radio off
According to my manual you're sposed to be able to press and hold the red phone button - the manual says this can be used to toggle the phone off/on but that certainly isn't the case on my phone?
Anyone know why this isn't working properly?
Manual's wrong... from previous forum postings, this can be done on the original XDA but this for some really weird reason doesn't work on the XDAII. Hence a request to some Pocket PC coders out there who might be able to whip a quick utility up?
what is wrong with clicking the signal level icon, and selecting 'flight mode' ?
clicking signal icon
that takes two clicks - it's a lot easier to press and hold a h/w button
I'm serious
I solved this problem in a nice way using ButtonMax 1.01. Now I can, not only turn radio on/off by simply keeping pressed the up/down key on my xda's pad, but as buttomax supports macros definition I could even let it put my pin in the phone as I turn the radio back on!
Using it toghter with Alarm Today allowed me to solve the problem of scheduled on/off too. Both programs run in team and you can use buttomax macros at a scheduled time, setting them as an alarmtoday event.

Very good idea, indeed. Thanks.
It's possible to use the "Record" button instead?
I tried to use the “Record” button in the ButtonMax, but nothing appends?
If I use the down pad key, it work’s, why?
Can you help me? I really want to use the Record Button, that way, I can switch off the Radio(Phone) with the PDA inside the case in bell clip.
Thank's,
Nuno Cardoso.

Help and advice for T-Mobile MDA II

Hi there,
I'm currently trying to help a friend of mine that owns the above model of PDA. He is having trouble accessing the phonebook to save contacts. Everytime you click to access it it just reverts back to the phone dialer screen. I have tried both a hard and soft reset but nothing seems to work. He also is interested in using it as a GPS system. As it stands he only has the PDA and charger as he lost the box with the rest of the gear. As far as i can tell, i'm going to have to get him a memory card, GPS reciever and some software (probably TOM-TOM) as well as a data cable to load it all up. Any suggestions regarding this would also be appreciated.
thanks in advance
Blokey
my xda2 dident come with a datacable for anything but the cradle
so i would guess that it's the gps antenna which comes with the cable
if it's supports the pda
and you are a bit vague as to what your friend is trying to do when he end up on the phone dialer dialog
you can access contacts by
1 pressing the button in the left upper corner (unless it have been asigned to something else)
2 you can choose contacts in start menu or programs
3 you can press the icon in the buttom of the screen in the menu in side the phone application dialog
When you try any of the things above it quickly flashes up the contacts screen and then reverts back to the phone dialer screen.
Cheers for the quick response,
Blokey

Does he perhaps have a stuck key? Like the phone button stuck hald way? That would cause the contacts to disappear.

Button issue since new O2 ROM

Hi.
Just wondered if anyone else had noticed that since the new O2 ROM upgrade, the green phone button on the edge no longer wakes the device up?
Only a minor gripe but still...
Smiffy.
Er I haven't upgraded the ROM yet and the green button dosn't wake the device on my machine either. Have you got the keylock on now, when prior to upgrade you didn't otherwise no button other than the power button should wake the device by design.

Funny that, I used to use the light button on the front of my exec to turn it on from standby, but that doesn't work now after latest rom update.
Brett
i have the same problem, so annoying when it's easier just to press the light button to wake it up
maybe it's the new "feature" of the upgrade? or rather not...
***Update***
I have just found a workaround for this problem. You need Spb Pocket Plus 3.1 for this. If you don't already have it, get a trial copy. Once you have it, go under Pocket Plus options, select "Buttons", then press "Feature Options", press "Assign to Buttons", press the "Lock" tab, then select the radio button "Do not lock buttons", and you're homefree! Now all the hardware buttons will wake up the phone, save for the green and red call buttons on the hinge, I wonder why...
this is like the blind leading the blind
go to settings
then buttons
then select LOCK, and select the option "do not lock buttons"
you need to press the button for a split second.
Paul
There ya go - I knew I wasn't imagining it
Cheers for that - even though I feel a bit dumb now because I like to think I'm a pretty advanced user (especially when I've had 15 years working in IT and computers as a consultant ) and it never even occured to me to go looking for the simple solution
I guess I should start looking for a new day job ;-)
Cheers,
Smiffy

End Call key and wierd start menu

I admit defeat, I've serached and searched for both these issues so forgive me if they are stupid questions
First daft question, how does the end call key work? the actual hard button, not the one on the screen. I know it works because if I press it while in the control panel it'll beep and drop back to the today screen but try as I might when I have the phone app up it just will not end a call..... Whats it for if it doesn't do that?
The reason I need to know is my case has a hard cover for the screen so without opening the case I cant press "end" on the touchscreen.
Second daft question, sometimes when typing on the keypad (any of them) sometimes the startmenu pops up and I end up opening an app instead of pressing a key. So annoying when it happens LOL
I've tried loads of WM6.1 roms to resolve the problems but generally find something that doesn't work and am finding that WM5 (The original Orange UK ROM) is more stable and certainly quicker but nothing I do resolves these two problems.......
Oh and while I'm here, does anybody know which is the best threaded SMS thingy for WM5? loved that feature on 6.1
Thanks in advance for your time guys
Tim
Hello. I also have teh problem with teh start menu wich pops up when I touch the screen. Sometimes it happens more often, sometimes no. Anyone knows what might be the problem?
