Camera not working how can i fix it?

i have a G1 and the camera is not working and i think its because i installed this room the Eclair (www.forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=598973) and i know the camera doesn't work for this ROM but then i went to CM 4.9.2.1 and when i tried to use the camera it FCs it is there a way to fix this?

thanks i tryed this but it didnt work so then i was reading some other forums and some people said it could be a hardware issue and i remember i opened my phone a couple days ago so i checked and the camera wire wasnt fully in so i plugged it in and it worked!!

[help]g2 always reboot when i open camera

hi, I have just bought a htc g2 magic(TIM). I got a very terrible problem as the title says, it aways reboot itself when I try to use the camera.
I have tried several ROMs, but I still get this problem though other ones told me that it is ok for them.
Is it a hardware problem or software problem or other?
the following the detals of my phone(if any other information you need, please let me know):

Maybe your cam is brokken so when you try to access it you get hit with a FC,

not sure. but not crash every time. if you try it after rebooting, it is ok for a short time.

a rom from hiapk.com version 3.10
and i also tried cm 4.1.22
both of them runs well on others' machine

Have you tried any sense or 2.0/2.1 roms?
They have cam drivers now so give those a go.

You don't say which ROM you are using. There are quite a few Magics that have the reboot problem with the Donut 1.6 ROM, mine included. T-Mobile was replacing them. See this link:

I am using 1.6 ROM, from this URL(replace hxxp with http)

You can flash a 1.5 ROM like I did. The camera works fine but I gave up voice directions in Google Maps and Voice Google search.

thank you. I send my phone back to my provider and let them test it.
I think it will save me a lot of time.

The only resolution is a 1.5 ROM like the one I'm using.

everything seems ok after roll back to 1.5 ROM, but the goggles(can not be found in the market).

TIM camera reboot
sorry that i pick up so old thread but.
Does anyone found a fix for this problem?
I also have a TIM HTC Magic black with red border and another black HTC magic with silver border.
On TIM's one there is a problem with random reboots when using camera on 2.1 eclair roms (i've tried a lot of roms - random reboot when using camera on all)
With silver magic there is no problem
It looks like the problem is only on TIM magic.. maybe different hardware.
Also, as described above on 1.5 rom (I've tried CursorSense 1.2.6.1 which is cupcake) there is no problem with camera.
is there solution for 2.1 based roms ?

Same with my Rogers Magic. Only 1.5 roms are okay.
The problem is that Rogers hasn't rolled out a 1.6 or greater ROM. Once they do I can complain, but before that they'll say that I hacked it and it's my fault.

I would like to have your opinion: which cooked ROM is the cleanest and lightest ROM without all those "slowing" HTC customizations?
Or if this is not possible, which ROM has the least f those HTC embedded apps?
My ideal ROM is that one which has succesfull get rid of Manila, HTC messaging and all the other staff, except one: Compass.
At the moment I am satisfied with Freyberry Barebone: but up to now I cannot get rid of HTC Contacts, (I cannot re-enable the default MS Outlook Contact)

You can make it easily if u want Microsoft Phone (WM) OS only for ur device. But ur device will become weird. High tech mobile hardware with errrr looking

Trying to reflash (LEOMIG.nbh) with a WORKING and KNOWN rom, same result, nothing and stucked on boot image, no radio/rom in red on the left bottom part... **** !
Needed to reflash with shipped official HTC rom... Everything's fine now, but wasted 1 hour
Had to set HardSPL once again

[Q] Camera problem android/winmo advice needed! update

Hey Guys,
Just installed Android Energy Rom 3.5 Sensation XL
Only problem is that the camera does'nt work!
When i had winmo my camera told my: could not initilize camera
i thougth meh, opera problem, just flash android on it!
Now, android reboots everytime.
My motherboard has been replaced before i had it in my ownership so i don't know what's wrong with that.
what shoud i do:
a: Flash winmo back, see if it helps (guess not)
b: Pry open my mobile, see if the camera is connected properly (how would i know? and can you help? links please!
c: try another android rom?

well, i dismounted the whole camera. And put it back together again the wright way, but still no luck,
any suggestions?
Flashlight works though,

Try another build first before flogging the hardware; preferably with a different builder and kernel.

it could be any rom try typhoon first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951, or any other
if it still continues then task 29 and flash stock winmo and see what happens.

I already opened up my phone, and reconnected the cables and had the whole camera module out, cleaned it, and put it back in its place en secured it.
still no luck though,
can it also be a motherboard problem?
everything else on my htd hd2 works, i can call, turn on wifi, etc. Just no camera

I've used Windows Phone 7 build 7004 XBmod-Yuki ROM v2, but before that i had used another one, and that didn't work too.
But i've discovered something weird, when i get really close to my wireless router then it cand find and connect to the network, so i assume that it is a hardware problem or am I wrong?

Do a simple test, reinstall Windows Mobile 6.5 and try to search networks to see if it presents the same simpthoms. If yes Its almost certain to be a hardware problem, try to search some public hotspots if possible to see if it is your router too.

Yes I think so maybe you just need to reinstal the SPL under 2.08. And flash with a official HTC ROM to test it, it will be almost like factory new.

is it possible that I have some wrong driver or some like that? or is it really the hardware?

Hmm. The drive that controls the antennas is the RADIO, maybe you can try some flashes with diferent RADIOs to see the result.
