Have anyone managed to do this? The 0.71 repacked version of TCPMP does work on Xperia, however the subtitles plugin does not. I know I can convert the movie with subtitles, but as Core Player is able to playback a regular xvid at full speed and as I know it is possible on VGA devices to watch movies with SMI subtitles...
...anything alredy out there I don't know about?

anyone know if WMP that we get on WM5 plays back DivX or XviD files natively?
if not is there a codec set compiled available online?
No you have to use a 3rd party player like TCPMP.
Actually WMP supports codecs, so you need to find appropriate Pocket-PC compiled codec for DivX and configure WMP to use it.
Another thing is change your DivX header to MS-MPEG4 and try to play that. This is not applicable to Xvid movies
Checkout this FAQ: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/windowsmobile/faq.aspx
It would probably be easier and better playback to use TCPMP anyway.
TCPMP is very, very good!
TCPMP ??!
If you install TCPMP, will it replace WM player ?? what will happen ??
absolutely not.
it's only another app.
bye
hi, i am lookng for a video player supporting subtitles in text format or other ?? is there anything like that ??
cheers, matt
I'm relative sure that TCPMP has you covered here.
i am using TCMPM and cannt see this option.
Don't think the core player supports subtitles and have not seen another player that includes this. Why not do what i do and encode the subtitles with the rest when i am encoding the video - comes out fine on my device - just about read the text. I use fair use wizard (free edition) for straight ripping from dvd to xvid including subtitles. http://www.fairusewizard.com/lang_en/fairuse_wizard_dvd_divx_xvid_backup_tool_light_edition.html
thats fine if i wanna rip dvds but i am tolking about avi format. i mean i usualy have avi movie in eng and polish subtitles in seprate txt format. i use vpaler on my desktop. any ideas ??
I think it does - in the version 0.72
Hi.
You may also try:

it's in polsh, but pictures are also.
Quite simple and it works.
And you will need the newest version of TCPMP: 0.81 with such support.

maby you need to install aditional codecs?
another way write the problem to author tcpmp...
after you install tcpmp with divx codec, your windows media player must play avi movie...
anyone can post out the media software to watch x1?? i want it performance smooth n doesnt hv delay..thx
Million plus first reply for this topic:
Built-in media player is the best, since it is the only one (well, together with WM player) with full HW support.
Next best would be core player, with partial HW support. But generally you can't play any one CD AVI fluently.
Yes, you must recode the movie into mp4. Simple tool for that is described in this sticky thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467590
Just use coreplayer and you dont have to convert
what abt flv movies? i cant seem to get tcpmp nor core player to play flv movies.. anything else is fine..
core player plays some flv movies
which version? i got the 1.30 version and it kept giving me errors..
depends on FLV codec version
I know coreplayer can play h.264 vids (mkv format) but when i downloaded an anime that was h.264 (mkv 1280x720) it says it can't play.. im guessing its the 1280x720 as coreplayer has a limit.... i could be wrong but anyone have alternative way of playing these files .. or people downloading anime fansubs that are similar to what i mentioned..

I can't play anime, it's the codecs and formats used to compress the videos, Coreplayer doesn't like them. You could always reconvert them?
There's no Windows Mobile phone capable of 720p decoding and it won't be until WP7 arrives. It's not a hardware problem but software (its old and outdated kernel can't see the neon vfp)
You can play 720p mkv h264 if you give Android a try paired with a good player like RockPlayer.
Anyway you can read more related info if you search in this forum.
