I rcently tried to install a dos game but can't get it to work, hoping someone can tell me how to sort it out. The game is civilization.
Here's what I did:
1. I installed Pocketdos v1.12.1
2. I copied the civilisation folder to my storage card
3. I started pocketdos and enabled 'Simulate display retrace' form advanced display options as remommended in another thread. I shut it down and restarted it
4. I started pocketdos
5. I typed cd CIV
At this stage I get a message saying 'invalid path "civilization"', as if the civilization folder I put in my storage card doesn't exist (I checked it's there, and spelling is correct).
I typed in dir, to see what it recognizes, and it only lists windows and wmdrm folders. When I check the contents of the storage card using file explorer, i can see the followong: civilization folder, windows folder, my documents foler, program files flder, and a files I've got there, but no wmdrm folder.
Any ideas where I went wrong? Thanks
Use tools then drives and add a drive mapping to the folder containing civilization and run it from the mapped drive. Works for me.
Thanks! Works now.
Hello all,
In order to avoid the "this has been covered many times" comment, I have spent nearly all morning trying to find an answer to my issue through searching the threads. NO LUCK.
Like nearly everyone else I became fed up with the memory issues. I have followed the instructions to change the page pool size. However, am having issues with the .bat files. I have learned that you dont run them on the phone, but on the pc. When I explore through active sync on my pc and double click on the .bat file in the window, all I get is a info window about the file. Actually if i click on any file that is all i get. Is this normal?
How do I run the .bat file correctly.
FYI. I extracted the page pool files to my pc, copied them to the storage card already.
Thanks in advance for your help!
you dont even have to drag it to the phone. You click it while it's still on your PC.
make sure install the cabs first.
Been having some trouble unziping files on the htc diamond touch
just dont seem to work
anyone help?
what exactly is the issue? do you not know how to unzip a file, or when you try to unzip it, it doesn't work? you can always unzip it on your computer, then put the unzipped file on your phone. let me know what the issue is.
ok when i try and get the file on the phone direct it comes up
" the central directory was not found in the archive ( or you were trying to open a disc other than the last disk of a multi-disk archive )
similar issue if i do it on my lappy
Can anyone help with this?
I very quickly copied some stuff into my Media folder before I left home yesterday and then at work decided to sort it out a bit. I connected via USB to my Windows PC, with Kies installed, and then went to the phones file system in Windows Explorer.
I could see all the stuff I copied in the Media folder. I created some new folders for music and video. I then dragged some video files from Media into the video folder and that worked fine. I went on to drag some folders of mp3s from Media into the music folder and that seemed to work - but actually it just copied the folder and not the contents! It has somehow managed to delete all my music files and just kept the empty folders
Anybody else seen this? I guess if I had moved the files inside the folders it would have been ok, but moving the folder as a whole caused the problem.
I'm about to clean up my phone for a bit, so will test this and report back.
I'm using KF1
Update: It's fine here.. some little bugs when moving files but after trying again everything is okay..
interesting - I just tried it again and it seemed fine but that was after copying some new files onto the phone via USB cable.
I wonder if it is to do with how I got the files on there in the first place? I used ES File Explorer to navigate to a network share over wifi and copy/pasted them to a local drive - perhaps it didnt mark the folders as having any contents or something? I'll try it again when I go home to see if I can replicate the problem.
I use Es File Explorer, and have used other apps to delete files off the nexus 7 storage. However when I plug it to the PC and open the internal storage, I see the files are still there. The files HAVE BEEN deleted though, as when I click on the file, it says file corrupt, and doesn't take up space anymore.
For example I put a movie file into my tablet. I watched it, and deleted it after I'm done. I plug it on my pc and I see the folder and file still there.
how can I fix this?
It can be a pain because I use my nexus 7 to read my school documents.. sometimes I rename the file, and the whole thing is corrupt, as in I can't open it when I plug it in my PC anymore, because the names doesn't match. Or If I don't remember correctly which files I've deleted, and re-delete it when I use my PC, soon it will be fill with a lot of useless files when I open the internal storage on my PC.
Any help? I don't remember this being a problem before, I was able to edit/delete files, and it would show up as is on my pc.
Also, when I open a folder with pictures on my PC, some files do show the thumbnail, while other files just show the default pic file.
Basically my nexus 7 feels very 'corrupt' and slow when I browse the files on my PC. Anyone else have the same problems?
You could use ADB instead
